-Lordbug, Robin and Kitty Noir- Chapter Two: In Which Damian Gets Soaked
/Part One//Part Two//Part Three//Part Four//Part Five//Part Six//Part Seven//Part Eight//Part Nine//Part Ten//Part Eleven/
Description: Idk it’s just fluff man
Warnings: Cursing I guess that’s it
---
Kitty Noir. Damian hummed under his breath, the name sounding around his head. Black Kitty. Hey, at least his ‘partner’ had a name worse than Lordbug.
“Damian! How dare you take the Ladybug miraculous without telling me!” To say that Fu was furious was an understatement of the century. Wayzz had, of course, told his master once Damian bounded back to ask ‘What the hell I can’t kill them’.
Damian tried not to look guilty (Because he didn’t feel guilty, really!), and gave Master Fu a bored expression. “Face it, Fu, if I didn’t take the miraculous, <>those monsters would still be out there.”
Master Fu tried to think of a good punishment, and then walla- There the solution was. “Damian, as your punishment, you will be the Ladybug miraculous holder until after Hawkmoth is defeated.
---
Damian groaned, slamming face-down onto his bed in the Chinese-themed room. Great. He was stuck with ‘Lordbug’ permanently. If he knew that was going to happen, he wouldn’t have come up with such a cringey name.
“Are you okay, Damian?” Tikki’s chirpy voice asked him worriedly.
“Do I look okay to you?” Damian snapped, having swapped from French to English in the heat of his anger.
“Well, if you want me to speak English, I can.” The Kwami offered. “I’ve been to England before.”
“Just shut up and go away!” Damian growled loudly at the Kwami, who flinched, clearly afraid of the dark-haired boy, who planted himself back in his bed, refusing to do anything else to kill the time.
---
“Marinette! Wake up, kid! You’re going to be late!” The cat Kwami fussed over his holder as she got up groggily.
“I’m up- Goodness, what time is it?”
“It’s already seven!” Plagg screeched, dragging Marinette’s bag towards her but failing due to its weight and his size, causing the girl to laugh lightly as she picked the bag up, cuddling the little Kwami even while he protested.
“Alright, grumpy kitty.” Marinette chuckled. “Let’s go to school.”
And for once, she wasn’t late.
When she stepped into her class, though, it seemed that a lying fox had beat her and was earlier than she was.
“Hi everyone, I’m Lila Rossi. Please take care of me.” The girl introduced in smiles and sunshine and rainbows- Before taking a seat at Marinette’s place.
“Um, sorry. That’s my place.” Marinette apologized.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I have hearing problems. I must sit here.” The girl pouted sympathetically. “Besides, shouldn’t you be taking care of that new boy?”
“Yea, girl.” Alya grinned, looping her arm around Lila’s affectionately. “I’ll take care of Lila.”
Marinette turned, meeting eyes with a dark-haired boy sitting at the very end of class. He frowned at her, watching her as she headed up to him, plopping down next to him.
“I’m Marinette.” She smiled sweetly. “The teacher told me about you. You must be Damian Wayne. Do you want a tour of the school?”
Inside her bag, Plagg peeked out, glancing at the green-eyed boy. “How could Tikki choose such a holder?” The Kwami hissed angrily. “He isn't worthy of my cat!”
---
“Thank you.” Damian thanked, not really being thankful but just being polite. Marinette shot him a sweet smile.
“No problem! Should we get back to class?” Marinette smiled.
---
It was going to be his first night patrolling. He stashed a few knifes and Batarangs into his utility belt, and agreed (Reluctantly) to let Tikki come along.
Opening the window to get out of the stuffy bedroom, he shot off his grappling hook, retracting it as he leaped out of the window into the dark nocturnal atmosphere.
Jumping from building to building was quite the stress reliever for him, with a flush of lights and colors a blend of the city of love. Tikki, safely hidden inside his hood, watched everything with an eye of awe. She had never really gotten to see Paris- Or whatever city it was at that time- Because she was always in the transformation when her Ladybugs went swinging by. She had never been able to enjoy the beautiful view, or the thrill. Clearly, Damian was enjoying himself, too.
After a while, the Kwami of creation had fallen asleep, only to be awoken when she felt the vibrations of her holder speaking to himself. “Who’s- Is that? The girl... From this morning-” Damian was murmuring a random string of his thoughts, flinching slightly when he felt Tikki stir.
“What’s wrong, Damian?” She chirped, peeking out of his hood to see him standing on a taller building overlooking a girl on a lit balcony of a bakery. “Is that... The girl that showed you around this morning?” And Plagg’s holder?
“Yeah. Her name... I think... Marinette?” Damian was halfway between murmuring to Tikki and himself, stranding off into his own thoughts.
“You should go talk to her.” Tikki encouraged. It would be a good idea for Damian to become friends with Plagg’s holder’s civilian identity.
Scoffing, Damian turned away, preparing to move on with his patrol. “You can’t tell me what to do.”
---
“Um... Who are you?” Marinette asked awkwardly as a black, red, and yellow dressed superhero landed on her balcony.
“R-Robin.” The boy seemed to blushing as he balanced himself on the railing of her balcony, growling under his breath once a while at what seemed to be a voice in his ear. An earpiece, perhaps?
“I’m Marinette.” She smiled, “Nice to meet you, Robin.”
“W-What are you doing out this late? It’s dark and cold out.” Robin murmured, stepping off the railing and onto the balcony.
Marinette shrugged. “The night view. It’s breathtaking, isn’t it?”
Robin turned to look at Paris, with it’s glistening yellow lights, and the faraway silhouette of the Eiffel tower.
He didn’t dislike Paris. He hated it.
“Yeah, it’s breathtaking.”
---
“Morning, Damian!” A chirpy voice called out, and Damian spun around to come face to face with Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Tikki giggled under his hood, but a quick warning swat warned her to stay quiet, although that didn’t stop her from teasing him later.
“Dupain-Cheng.” He greeted with a little smile, because honestly, was anyone able to resist smiling around the little angel? Surely not.
“Let’s head to class!” She beamed, pointing in the direction of her- Their- Class, and nodding reluctantly, he was dragged by the little angel into their class.
---
They were walking out of school together, simply because 1, there was no one else to walk with, and 2, they were going in the same direction.
“It’s raining.” Marinette sighed mournfully, already picturing herself getting home soaked.
“Well observed.” Damian commented with a smirk, raising his hands in surrender when she glared at him.
“Marinette!” A blonde called, racing out from the school doors. Adrien Agreste. “I- Sorry for yesterday. I was only trying to get the gum off your chair.” He apologized. Her bluebell eyes widened in realization. “Um, it looks like you don’t have an umbrella. Why don’t you take mine-”
Before Marinette could say anything, Damian did. He pushed Agreste’s umbrella away, smiling tightly. “No need.” Drawing an umbrella out of his bag, he opened it in one fluid motion, smiling at his little angel.
“Shall we?”
She laughed lightly, grabbing his arm as she jumped into the rain with him, causing him to groan. “You made my shoes wet!” He grumbled, only earning another laughter and a hasty apology from her.
“Sorry. There’s a dryer in the bakery, so maybe you could get your clothes dry before you go home.” Marinette suggested, brushing a strand of wet hair out of her face.
“No thank you.” Damian turned her down, refusing straight-forwardly.
She pouted. “But-”
Before she could finish, though, Chloe’s car drove past, and upon her instruction, the driver splashed through a large puddle. Marinette flinched and braced for the impact, but not before Damian shoved the umbrella in front of her. However, in the green-eyed boy’s quick thinking to protect her, he forgot about himself, getting drenched in the process.
Glancing down at his wet clothes, Damian sighed. “Maybe I’ll take up your offer on the dryer.”
Looking at his more-or-less dry holder from inside Marinette’s bag, Plagg sighed. “I guess I should’ve know better than to doubt Tikki’s choice. Perhaps he is deserving of my cat afterall.”
---
“Oh! I just got an idea!” Marinette suddenly burst out on their way to her bakery. Damian eyed her warily.
“What is it?” He asked cautiously, having a bad feelling overshadowing.
“You could leave your clothes in the dryer, and you can go home in some of the clothes I made!” She grinned. “I’m quite sure I could find something that’d fit you.”
“You design your own clothes?” He was definitely not expecting that one coming. A familiar glint approached her eyes, and Damian felt his heart jolt.
It was the same glint that Grayson always had when he spoke of Starfire, it was the same glint that Todd had when he played with his stray dog, Bacon, and it was the same glint that Drake had when a new case appeared.
It was a glint of passion.
And it would be the same glint in Damian’s eyes when he thought about his angel.

Lav goes to Tokyo (4&5/6): Shopping Sprees
I deserve a high-five for successfully sticking to my DIY itinerary for my sweet and short ‘bleisure’ in Tokyo, Japan. Excel-ing my comprehensive plan was worth it after all. Unfortunately, the ‘Budget’ column was irrelevant for I spent WAY OVER than the self-imposed shopping limit. Who can’t resist if you’ve been itching to go to Tokyo since you were a nursery?
No regrets?
This photo was taken after spending a month worth of my salary on my first day in Tokyo.
*That’s my bed in the background. It’s evident I’m most excited to play with my new Totoro plushie and Sailormoon gachapons.*
Asakusa & Oshiage
Tokyo Skytree
When I was drafting my itinerary last April, I found out that the Tokyo Skytree is holding an “Attack on Skytree” exhibit at the Floor 450. I decided to allot more Yen to buy the extra ticket and the special merchandise only available on the floor. I got my sister, the person who influenced me to watch the anime series, three gachapons (i.e. two key chains and one screen featuring the titan shifters), a gold medallion-style keychain, and a keychain featuring Eren biting his left hand. I bought myself the Attack on Skytree tote bag. LOOK AT LEVI. WHO CAN’T RESIST THAT FACE?! Like, really?! And lastly, I can’t skip the Tokyo Skytree gift shop. Of course, I want to buy many, but my budget won’t allow me to do so. In the end, I only got a gold 5th anniversary miniature of Tokyo Skytree and a magnet. There’s one more gift shop in the lobby and it is much bigger than the one in Floor 350. Don’t spend everything when you’re up there. I swear.
Donguri Kyowakoku
I AM STILL MAD FOR NOT GETTING A TICKET TO THE STUDIO GHIBLI MUSEUM. I didn’t know they sold out fast. My hotel is just a few stations away from Mitaka. :( Anyway, this store is easy to find since it is along the stairs heading to the Tokyo Skytree. I thought my Yen 4,000 budget would be enough. I went beyond that because the tax-exemption applies for purchases for Yen 5,000 and above. On my shopping list are a Totoro plushie and a wallet. However, I saw this adorable Pochi purse and picked it up immediately. I also got a set of two limited edition Totoro finger puppets. I can’t find affordable merchandise for my favorite Studio Ghibli films (i.e. Only Yesterday, Whisper of the Heart, Princess Mononoke, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky). I really want the Castle in the Sky tote bag but I already my Attack on Skytree tote bag. I dropped it or else I’ll end up suffering from the “Tote Life”
(WHO WATCH WE BARE BEARS? RAISE YOUR HANDS!) As a result, I took home four more finger puppets -- Princess Mononoke, Sheeta, the Baron, and Louise.
Pokemon Center Skytree Town
I went to the Pokemon Center for nostalgia purposes. My siblings and I used to fight over a Gameboy to take turns on playing Pokemon. I’m glad to see that one of our childhood favorites has remained popular decades later. This is definitely a haul dedicated to my siblings. I bought two Master Balls (each has a stamp and candies which according to my sister tastes like cough drops), Nanoblocks (Mewtwo and Gyarados), coin purses (Pikachu and a Pokeball), and a letter ‘R’ keychain (for my brother). I did not get a keychain for my sister because I already bought her an Attack on Titan keychain. I guess those are enough. A saleslady gave me a plastic postcard featuring the date I visited Pokemon Center. Hooray for a free souvenir!
Nakamise Street
Ahhhhh, the famous Nakamise street. As I have said in my previous post, I was kind of disappointed. Price range is not cheap. I advise you guys to see the after-immigration duty-free shops instead. I ended up with one magnet featuring the gate to the street. Don’t fret yet! Nakamise is great for sightseeing and food tripping. *drools*
Akihabara
Akihabara Gachapon Kaikan
FINALLY. I always wanted a LEGIT capsule toy since I was a kid. *the machines we have in the Philippines are not as enjoyable as those in Japan* You can find gachapon machines in train stations, convenient stores, etc. If you want a complete and satisfying gachapon experience, you’ve got to visit the Akihabara Gachapon Kaikan. I’m on the lookout for Sailor Moon gachapons. I got my sister some Star Wars gachapons (which I did not open). I’m not pretty sure if getting the same pretty toy THRICE is a good luck or the machine is just messing up with me. BTW, I GOT USAGI’S ENGAGEMENT RING.
Don Quijote
I decided to visit this branch of ‘’Donki” so I have one more reason to walk around Akihabara. Also, I get to catch some maids performing in the renowned maid cafés. I bought some matcha-flavored sweets for my officemates and relatives. And of course, I bought a bottle of Cure Natural Aqua Gel. I’m running out of my favorite peeling gel and it’s Php 300 (USD 6) cheaper than the Philippines. PLUS, Don Quijote is a tax-free shop!
*Anecdote: There was a long line in the tax-free counter. I’m far from the line and there were Republic of China Passport Holders in front of me. A Donki staff asked if they can transfer to another counter because the line keeps on getting longer. No one wanted to transfer until the staff reached me. I agreed and they immediately grabbed my baskets at walked downstairs. It’s kind of cool because my feet were swelling big time after all the walking, and then now I have the counter and three Donki staff for myself only.*
Shibuya
Bic Camera
CHEAP CASIO WRISTWATCHES. HOW CAN I SAY NO TO THESE?! I was walking around the famous Shibuya crossing a lot of times until the display of Casio watches caught my attention. Damn. I mean, DAAAYUM. I bought these for my siblings. My trip to Tokyo coincides with their birthdays. My shopping list prioritizes stuff I believe my siblings would like to receive. IF I ONLY HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THE GADGETS BEING SOLD FOR A CHEAPER PRICE VS. THE PHILIPPINES... ugh.
Uniqlo
Initially, I’m not planning to visit Uniqlo because WE HAVE A LOT IN THE PHILIPPINES. However, I realized ‘souvenir shirts’ in Uniqlo are cheaper compared to the ones being sold at the airport and in Nakamise street. I went to their branch in Shibuya. I got one each for my family. Aside from the shirts, I also bought two ¾ pants and seamless underwear. I forgot to include in the photo the sunglasses I bought for my father. When converted to Philippine peso, I got everything for Php 5,000+ (USD 100*). Thank god for tax-exemption!
Shinjuku
Daiso
There’s a small Daiso near the hotel I stayed in. I got to buy some small souvenirs for my bosses. How adorable that small memo stands! AND CAN WE PLEASE APPRECIATE THOSE YEN 100 FANS. These are for my mom and some relatives. DEFINE BARGAIN. Further, I remember my mom requested me to buy some wedding cards, so I took advantage of the cheap stationary section of Daiso. It is truly cheaper to buy souvenirs here! Everything cost me only Yen 800+. I may not be able to see Harajuku and the big Daiso they have there. With a very limited budget, I’m pretty happy with my haul.
24hr convenient store in Ichigaya
I saw from their window display that they carry some popular Japanese cosmetic brands. I’m not sure the name of the store but the shopping bag says “smile everyday!”. Although I’m not really fond of trying skin care products due to my extremely sensitive skin condition, I still decided to get a look. Good thing I did. I found these really cute nail polish bottles. I decided to pick some colors that have been on my wishlist for a long time. The color range may not be as vast as OPI’s or Sally Hansen’s. I’m in Tokyo, so why not try some local nail products!?
Ginza
Hakuhinkan Toy Park
I found some Tokyo 2020 official merchandise outside the Toy Park. I got a t-shirt for myself and a polo shirt for my dad. The merchandise does not come cheap. I did not buy a lot in the Toy Park because I already bought most of the character goods and toys I have on my shopping list. AND I’M ALREADY RUNNING OUT OF YEN WHEN I WENT TO GINZA. I saw some unique flavors of KitKat and bought some. Regretfully, I spent most of my time in Hakuhinkan window shopping. I’ll definitely visit this place on my future visits to Tokyo with a MUCH BIGGER BUDGET. *finger-crossed*
Narita Airport
I can’t get enough snacks so I shopped for more in the Airport. Surprisingly, I was impressed how diverse the price range of products in the airport. You’ll find both overpriced and affordable goods so be vigilant! Haha! I should have saved more Yen for airport shopping.
I’d been looking for a Shiseido eyelash curler since I arrived in Tokyo only to find one on my departure. AFTER ALL THE TROUBLE I DID. HAHAHAHA. Anyway, it is all worth it, because this retails at PHP 1,300 (USD 26)* in the Philippines. If I converted its Japan price to PH Peso, it only costs Php 450 (USD 9)*. 1,300 VERSUS 450. Since I’m low on cash at this time, I decided to make use of my JCB credit card and ticked off the last product I have on my shopping list.
That’s it for my Tokyo, Japan haul!
Until next time,
PS: I forgot to post this. Initially, I divided my shopping sprees into two separate posts. I decided to combine the two, post it today, and publish the last part of my Tokyo series tomorrow, 31 December 2017.

Essay First Draft
Essay First Draft – Josh Rigg
For my creative investigation, I’m going to be looking at Martin Scorsese. I will be analysing the styles and philosophies of his that contribute to his title of auteur. I will use Andrew Sarris’ theories on authorship to see if Scorsese has any unique styles he puts into his films to make it recognizable and to see if his films are personal to him. I will also look at the other side of the argument, and see if there are other roles in his films that may take the title of authorship, or at least share it. I will be looking specifically at screenwriter, Paul Schrader, and actor & frequent collaborator, Leonardo DiCaprio. I will be looking at Paul Sellors on collective authorship to support my points. I will also use sources I have found, mainly from articles and scholarly sources to give evidence to my points.
Hypothesis: Analysing the styles and philosophies of Martin Scorsese, and how they contribute to him being recognised as an auteur.
Sub Topics
Does Scorsese have a distinctive and unique style?
Does Scorsese’s faith play a part in the themes and styles of his films?
Does the frequent collaborations of Paul Schrader and Leonardo DiCaprio in Scorsese’s films question the title of authorship, and whether it belongs to someone else in his films?
Question 1:
For question 1, I have watched 3 of Scorsese’s pictures, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed, and Taxi Driver. I will look for distinctive styles and techniques Scorsese uses. One thing I will look for in particular is the frequent use of Cops vs. Criminals, and the Neo-noir themes that are present in a range of his movies.
Question 2:
For question 2, I discovered that Scorsese is Catholic from reading my sources, and I would like to find out if his faith plays a part in his films, perhaps regarding the philosophies of his films and the themes.
Question 3
For a lot of Scorsese’s most critically acclaimed films, I noticed that Paul Schrader and even Leonardo DiCaprio often play a part in these films, and I would like to find out if the genius script-writing of Schrader, or the elite performances of DiCaprio can contest the title of auteur to whether it belongs to them or Scorsese.
Filmography
The pictures I will be looking at are:
Wolf of Wall Street
A film that has most of the core Scorsese elements, includes heavy drug use, heavy police presence, and lots of criminal activity, however, it’s not used in the way we see in most Scorsese films. In this picture, it is about Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) who runs an illicit stock brokerage that charges over-inflated prices for worthless stocks, which Belfort and his team really exaggerates how good these stocks are. I chose this film, as it is a recent film and one of my favourites. It also shows the core themes that are recurring in most of Scorsese’s films. It also features stars such as DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jon Bernthal, and Matthew McConaughey. Having big name stars in a film will help me talk about my counter argument of whether the star has a place of being the auteur, of at least being a contributing factor to the authorship of the film.
Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver (Scorsese - 1976) is a highly regarded film, often considered on of the best of all time and this is proven as it is selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It was directed by Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader, two people who I will be writing about in my essay about authorship, whether the title of auteur belongs to Scorsese, or if Paul Schrader could make an argument for it. I will also use this film as it features a lot of Catholic themes, and with Scorsese being a Catholic, I am going to use this film to answer my question of whether Scorsese uses his religion to influence his films. The film follows Travis Bickle (De Niro), a 26-year-old ex-forces man who is in a state of depression and loneliness. He also has chronic insomnia and decides to become a taxi driver to help with this. He encounters many things on his late night outings, and comes across Iris (Foster), a child prostitute and Bickle tries to persuade her to stop with the prostitution.
The Departed
The Departed is a textbook Scorsese films. It includes the police, guns, drugs, the mafia, and a lot of stars. The film stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, and Mark Wahlberg. This film is highly regarded and his received a lot of critical acclaim, receiving high ratings on IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and from Roger Ebert. The film is about an undercover cop, Billy Costigan (DiCaprio) working in in the Irish mafia ran by Frank Costello (Nicholson) and a mole in the police force, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) who are trying to discover each other’s identity.
Question 1
Intro
For my coursework I decided to research Martin Scorsese as part of a director study. For my 3 focal films, I chose Taxi Driver, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Departed. These have all been massive successes, especially Taxi Driver, as it was chose to be preserved by the National Film Registry. The films were produced in 1976, 2013, and 2006 respectively. I will look at how his films have developed over the years, but have kept the same styles throughout.
Point
The use of cinematography in Scorsese films has become picked up on by many people because of its frequent use, and how it has somewhat become a trademark of Scorsese. His constant use of slow motion, and long tracking shots especially have become recognisable. He has used slow motion to increase the intensity of a scene, and uses tracking shots to bring a scene back to reality. Furthermore, his use of music has become a trademark as he frequently uses pop music, or rock in his films, perhaps because they add to the heavy action in his films.
Source
A comment from United Artists says “When it comes to Scorsese’s visual style, the three things that immediately come to mind are his frequent use of slow motion, long tracking shots, and the use of popular music.” Also, his use of music was also mentioned, “Music, too, has been a consistent factor in Scorsese’s directing career, with his use of The Rolling Stone’s Jumpin’ Jack Flash in Mean Streets becoming one of the most famous scenes in his career.”
Evidence
An example of slow motion being used in a Scorsese film is the party scene in Wolf of Wall Street, where Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill) takes some drugs. The use of slow motion here could be used to visualise the effects of the drugs he takes for the audience to see, and understand. A calm film score is used to match the speed of the slow motion.
Question 2
Intro
After reading numerous sources, I picked up that Scorsese is a Catholic, and this has been outlines several times to express the importance of his faith and how it contributes to his films.
Point
From watching a number of Scorsese’s films. The title of authorship can be said that it belongs to Scorsese, as it’s believed that he uses his faith to develop his characters. He often went against Schrader, who was a Calvinist to develop the characters and their personalities.
Evidence
A quote on in an academic journal about the character of Travis in Taxi Driver states “As a Calvinist, Schrader sees [Travis] as predestined to damnation; as a Catholic Scorsese sees him as disposed to make self-defeating decisions.” This quote shows that Scorsese’s Catholic background had an impact on the characters personalities of the film. This is a good quote because it helps me see how Scorsese’s influences the film, further reinforcing the ideology that the director is considered the auteur.
“In their interview, Schrader confessed to Michael Bliss that he gradually grew impatient with Scorsese’s tendency to include Catholic symbolism, especially in his use of proper names.”
“This sudden reversal of perception makes the endings of the four films more than a trifle jarring. Scorsese’s final Catholic scenes seem thematically detached from the Calvinistic body of the narrative.”
These quotes show that Scorsese’s Catholic background had an impact on the characters personalities of the film. This is a good quote because it helps me see how Scorsese’s influences the film, further reinforcing the ideology that the director is considered the auteur.
Question 3
Intro
In a lot of interviews, articles, journals, etc. the power of Paul Schrader’s script writing, or the collaborations with Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, etc. is always brought into the equation whether the title of auteur belongs solely to Scorsese, or if all the people he collaborates with to define the quality of his films deserve it equally as much.
Point
After receiving so much critical acclaim from Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, etc. it could be argued that Martin Scorsese doesn’t deserve the title of auteur, or at least not the sole holder of the title. Furthermore, the frequent collaborations with Leonardo DiCaprio also adds to the debate whether the performance of the actor would deserve the title of auteur.
Evidence
“I loved the script Paul said he had based it on Arthur Bremer, the psychopath who had tried to assassinate (right-wing Alabama Governor) George Wallace. But it was the script’s autobiography quality that made it truly compelling.”
“Brian had told me that Paul had this script, Taxi Driver, that he didn’t want to do or couldn’t do, and wondered if I would be interested in reading it. So I read it and my friend read it and she said that that it was fantastic: we agreed that this was the sort of picture we should be making.
“After I had read his script I refused to be alone in the house with him. He was following John Milius around and had bought his own 45, an act of romantic adulation.”
After reading these quotes, I concluded that most people working on the films, actors, producers, etc. were impacted the most by the script, which questions the authorship of Scorsese, whether it belongs to him or Schrader.
