Scara interacted with both alhaitham and cyno before kazuha, isn't that funny?? Not holding my breath that cyno and kazuha will meet but its fun to imagine that they'd get along mostly bc kazuha does enjoy rp-ing like cyno���� (lbr thanks to fischl) also they are both in the same event in 3.7!

A pet peeve and some opinions, concerning the depictions of the one with the moniker of Don Sombrero.

Hat Guy can be read as a character who's grown a rough prickly shell to protect his soft gooey inside. This means he can very easily be mistaken for, or re-framed as, a Tsundere. It annoys me, I don't know why, but I want to enjoy some SethoScara or some KazuScara or any other Scara pairing, without reflexively flinching away from the fifth tsuntsun Hat Guy in a row. Moving on from the pet peeve and into a three part request for something I want more of.

Hat Guy speaks dramatically! He's not going to throw some meaningless vulgarity around. Noooo! He's gonna insult his target in a way that diminishes them as a person. He's not going to call someone a bitch, or a fucker, or an asshole. He's going to call the target of his ire, 'stupid' 'weak' 'worthless' and say things like 'why are you even here?' 'you aren't worth my time or my attention'. Insults, not vulgarities.

Hat Guy speaks dramatically! He's someone who has spent most of his life partially blaming his pain on having once been naive, innocent, and kind. You've all heard what the Kabukimono sounded like, you know what he sounded like after losing all his memories, what he, for lack of a better term, naturally sounded like, he sounded innocent and naive. He knew that too, and he changed it. Where was a wandering eccentric in Inazuma supposed to find a model to voice train himself on. I'll tell you where. Open air theatre. Hat Guy voice trained himself using open air Kabuki Theatre. Specifically he based his voice on the bad guy of those stage plays. Who was always called Kunikuzushi.

If he doesn't sound like he's delivering lines on a stage half the time he's speaking, he's not being dramatic enough. Last and debatable least, but also arguably most is...

Hat Guy has a sense of humor.

Surprising, unless you pay attention to his voice lines, and read the Opulent Husk lore. While it could be confused for Yae Miko's sense of humor, which appears to be based around an aggressive sense of of Schadenfreude, Hat Guy's sense of humor revolves around getting a rise out of people. He want's to see his victims face twist in an uncontrolled rush of emotion. So he'll charge up an attack while growling at the Traveler, then laugh and tease when they flinch. He'll claim to want to go commit some more atrocities just to see the look on the Traveller's face as they question whether or not to take him seriously. He'll accept the moniker of 'Hat Guy' with relatively little complaint, because now all he has to do now is act mildly insulted anytime someone calls him that and he gets to watch Academia scholars trip over themselves as they panic over this apparent social faux pas. And it means Paimon loses out on picking his nickname, anything to get a rise out of her.

Still think it’s utterly hysterical that a) Wanderer/Shiruetto (which is what I named him) accidentally got himself enrolled in the Akademiya due to his natural need to be right about everything b) Nahida somehow convinced him to enroll under the name Hat Guy and c) the Spanish translation of said name being

It’s probably for the best that Wanderer didn’t go accompany the Traveler to Fontaine. He probably would have gotten into a verbal smackdown with Furina and probably gotten arrested. 🤣

He would have had a front row seat to Childe getting arrested though which is something I think Don Sombrero would furoughly enjoy.

I’m playing through the latest part of the new Genshin event, and it reminded me of something great I spotted on Reddit.

For context: one of the characters, originally referred to as Scaramouche (and yes, the game is rife with Bohemian Rhapsody references about him), has the unusual quality of being renameable by the player. This means the game doesn’t have a consistent name to use for him in dialogue, and if he’s an important figure in story events, this can present challenges. They dealt with it this time by giving him a nickname.

In English, they refer to him as Hat Guy.

In Spanish, though, you get the best translation ever:

I’m going to be calling him that forever. Just putting that out there right now.

After regaining his memories and being given his new name, the Wanderer takes some time to compose himself, as Nahida suggested. Some things go wrong, and other things go right, as are the ways of Teyvat.

Or: Wanderer goes out for some fresh air and gets adopted by the Aranara for a while before he can handle returning to the city. Let's all meet in Sarva sometime, shall we?
