The full interview!!
Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin react to their hit Broadway musical "Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club" earning nine Tony nominations, and share how they found out the big news! Tune in today for more fun with Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin.
Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, now playing at the August Wilson Theatre.
In Cabaret, Redmayne plays 'The Emcee', a role played by Joel Grey in the 1966 and 1987 Broadway productions. He performs alongside Gayle Rankin as Sally Bowles, replacing Jessie Buckley from the West End production.
Rankin recalls finding out about her first Tony nomination for her performance: "One of my dear friends who is a playwright was the first person to text me. He was like 'Let's go!!!' And then [Eddie Redmayne and I] phoned each other and it [was] very special."
Redmayne said he was doing his daily warm-up exercises to "check that my voice was still alive...And I came out of the shower and found some text messages. It was pretty overwhelming because it's been such a passion project for us and it's meant the world that so many elements of the show have been recognized..."
In addition to Redmayne and Rankin, the production stars two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth as ‘Fraulein Schneider,’ Tony Award nominee Ato Blankson-Wood as ‘Clifford Bradshaw,’ Obie Award winner and Drama Desk Award nominee Steven Skybell as ‘Herr Schultz,’ Henry Gottfried as ‘Ernst Ludwig,’ and three-time Helen Hayes Award winner Natascia Diaz as ‘Fritzie/Kost.’
Cabaret, one of the most revered and successful musicals of all time, has music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood. The show features the songs “Willkommen,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Mein Herr,” “Maybe This Time,” “Money,” and the iconic title number.
Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club on Broadway is directed by Olivier Award winner Rebecca Frecknall with club, scenic, and costume design by Evening Standard Award winner, Tony Award nominee, and Olivier Award nominee Tom Scutt, and choreography by Olivier Award nominee Julia Cheng. The show was recently nominated for 9 Tony Awards.

Video: Eddie Redmayne Talks CABARET on LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK.
Eddie Redmayne joined Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday to discuss his role in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, which just opened on Broadway.
Having previously played the role of the Emcee in London, Redmayne highlighted the difference between American and British audiences and his character in the show.
In his discussion of the character itself, Redmayne said that the Emcee is "almost an abstract character. He exists in a void, in some ways. So often, when you're on stage, the other character in the scene with you is the audience."
He went on to talk about the space itself: "The theatre's in the round and you enter the theatre through these cavernous tunnels and get taken past bars and singers and musicians...the idea being that all you're memory of 52nd Street and New York has been left behind."
On the difference between British and American audiences, Redmayne pointed out that "American audiences are, dare I say it, more generous spirited or less reserved" than their British counterparts, adding that it's "wonderful, because it's my role to interact with the audience."
Cabaret stars Eddie Redmayne as the 'Emcee', Gayle Rankin as ‘Sally Bowles, two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth as ‘Fraulein Schneider,’ Tony Award nominee Ato Blankson-Wood as ‘Clifford Bradshaw,’ Obie Award winner and Drama Desk Award nominee Steven Skybell as ‘Herr Schultz,’ Henry Gottfried as ‘Ernst Ludwig,’ and three-time Helen Hayes Award winner Natascia Diaz as ‘Fritzie/Kost.’
The new production is currently running at the August Wilson Theatre.

Aeppol
Aeppol is a freelancer illustrator based in Korea. Many of her illustrations are displayed on Grafolio which is a South Korean online platform. On this platform, illustrators can not only display their work, but also can sell circumjacent products such as stickers, postcards. People can buy her illustrated books and calendar through this platform. If people like her illustrations, they can buy her work directly. She owns a large group of fans on this platform. Every Monday and Thursday, she will upload the new illustrations, which allows her followers can regularly browse her website and build a connection.
She also posts her work on Redbubble which more focuses on enabling people to sell products. But in this platform, Aeppol only have 3 followers at present. I guess because many of her fans are Koreans and this platform is not very popular in Korea. In terms of Facebook and Instagram, there are still many followers because these social media are popular around the world.
When I google Aeppol, the first result is Facebook link. I think if she can build a website, people may think she is more professional and reliable.

This article by Tobias Van Schneider was really interesting and very true for a lot of people. I have to agree with it. Perfectionism is a massive issue when it comes to design. I for one am definitely a perfectionist and sometimes that gets in the way of my work. When it comes to hand ins or showing people my work I want everything to be 100% however this sometimes is a bad thing because it prevents me from showing the different stages of my work and maybe the messier drawings and sketches I have produced instead of the ruled out perfect later versions.
I have tried to take this on board when completing my sketchbook and instead of throwing out any early sketches that are merely a bunch of scribbles with some notes, I should include them because they are just as important a part of the process as the rest of the sketches.
Another way perfectionism can get in the way is if we are asked to take on a precept and we aren’t 100% sure if we can complete. This is also subject to fear. Fear can hold us back completely as much as are perfectionism can,

What is a good case study?
This year I will be introducing case studies to my projects that are presented on my portfolio site. A case study is a document of research and progress that shows the development of situation over a period of time, in my case, I will be showing the progress of each project using written content and images.
Tobias van Schneider has published this detailed article on how to write case studies for your portfolio. Tobias mentions how not only does a case study show your experience and skills but it also shows potential clients or employers how you work and think.
Pen to paper: as like everything in the design world we always start on paper this does not differ when it comes to making case studies for your portfolio. Although this may be not very enjoyable it has to be done in order to establish what it is you want to say and things you may want to include
Keep it short & caption it: Employers and clients are likely to scan your projects so that they can get an understanding of how you work. This is why Tobias advises keeping things short, he recommends a short paragraph or two.
Include the right details:  If you working for clients you should list their name, what they do and their location. But in my case, I will be discussing the goal of the project, my experience, and the outcome. Some things Tobias didn’t mention that I will be including in my portfolio is also any challenges I faced, the process and what I’d do differently if I did the project again.
Use your own voice: something quite interesting I picked up from this article is how Tobias mentions that you shouldn’t try to impress readers with lofty language, just share your work in your own voice and be as clear as possible.
Case study layout: Lastly another thing I picked up from the article was how we should lay our case studies out. Yes, they should all look similar but Tobias recommends adjusting each case study so that it fits the project and look of the work.
“Design your portfolio and write your case studies with your reader in mind, and you'll be one step closer to doing the work you want to do.”

Our Curse and Wherever President Obama Got It Erroneous — Environmental Security
Our Curse and Wherever President Obama Got It Erroneous
About the weekend, President Obama declared a plan for $50 billion to go toward transportation enhancements. You know the 3 R’s: Rail, Roadways and Runways. This is a great detail, and these parts do have to have enhancement. But my initially issue was, “What about h2o? Wherever is our revenue?”
Of training course, numerous will stage to the 2009 stimulus and say, you bought money then. Sure we did, but so did transportation ─ why do they get a double dip? The whole reason why transportation bought revenue is that the projects will be seen. The ordinary citizen will push by a street or railroad job and see what is staying finished. The whole stage is to raise self-assurance so that the economic climate will recuperate.
So why did we not get any revenue? That is uncomplicated we are not seen. For most persons they just change on the tap and out will come h2o, or they flush the bathroom, and off it goes. Heck, I have talked to persons who really do not even know the variance in between h2o procedure and wastewater procedure. In shorter, we have finished also great of a work for also darn extended. For this we should all pat ourselves on the again. Even so, the downside is that we get neglected.
President Obama needs to know that roadways are the spine of our economic climate, but we are the immune technique. Our efforts, not medicine, have stopped numerous of the world’s worst illnesses useless in their tracks. Even so, we are not able to continue to keep up the great perform at present ranges of funding. This will lead to contamination and h2o outages across the United States. What great is a healthful spine if you are lying flat in mattress with a abdomen virus? This is what we provide.
Are we definitely seen more than enough? You bet, some of the figures that appear across my desk suggest that we have as considerably as 235,000 procedure services. These are all linked to enormous pipe networks that achieve a the greater part of the U.S. population. Numerous of these pipes have extended outlived their style lifetime, and failures are prevalent. If we set about replacing these pipes, there would be street crews in and all around each suburb and community in the United States. This is visibility. To me, a design crew in your street is far more apparent then viewing a signal at 70 mph that claims the job was funded by the stimulus. Equally street and h2o and wastewater would reward.
Cure projects would also be seen as each and every mayor or city manager can brag about their advancement in this significant place. The prospect of safeguarding public overall health is a powerful engage in for any politician. It is also a “green” engage in. Investing in h2o infrastructure could end the period of bottled h2o, which takes advantage of a few liters of h2o for each and every liter that is bottled. Additionally, you have the oil employed in earning the bottle, and the ensuing landfill challenges.
If I had my way, I would use the $50 billion to:
Make money obtainable only for new projects. This usually means not enabling presently funded projects to “refinance.” This was finished in the unique stimulus package deal. This in fact minimized the selection of new projects that were began. By only supplying this revenue to new projects, we can get started to remove the backlog.
Continue to keep, but explain the “Buy American” clause. In my impression, it would probably be very best to get rid of the clause. But politically, this will not fly. The Acquire American clause must be very clear and not result in months of debate at the expense of work creation.
Divide the job list into a few diverse timelines: shorter-, medium- and extended-time period. Limited-time period would be projects that could be concluded within just 18 months. Medium-time period projects could be began following 18 months but concluded in 36 months. Lengthy-time period would be projects following 36 months. The $50 billion would then be divided equally amongst the a few groups. If a classification did not have to have the whole amount of money, then the remainder would be shifted to the upcoming classification. This would kick get started the system now, but be certain extended-time period expenditure so that the economic climate would definitely reward.
Never make this a loan. Some municipalities just can’t pay for a loan no matter how lower the interest price is. This is in particular genuine of rural parts exactly where jobs creation options are confined. Thus, a loan prohibits enhancements in these parts. Because we have a few groups, then let’s tax Individuals right a few situations around a interval of a few decades. This would be $53.94 each and every year per American ($50B divided by 309 million persons). Of training course, some would be excluded and other individuals would pay back far more. Isn’t 54 bucks well worth it? For me, $54 is a wonderful dinner out for my loved ones.
President Obama did not discover us during his most recent stimulus package deal. That, in my impression, is because we do a terrific work. Even so, h2o paying has severe upside options for politicians. But to get our honest share, we have to have to be considerably far more vocal to Washington and stage this out. Following all, the overall health of our nation is considerably far more significant then transportation.

Tobias Van Schneider's Blog Post on VR: https://medium.com/desk-of-van-schneider/the-post-virtual-reality-sadness-fb4a1ccacae4
Whilst initially researching ideas of what to base my book on, this is the blog post which inspired me to look at the darker side of Virtual Reality. In my opinion, the post is a good length to work with and covers his own personal experience with using VR which I found interesting to read about. This also means that the reader doesn’t need to have any experience with VR themselves to understand whats being spoken about because it is explained.
