Summary:

Marshall Robert Singer has one hand resting on his hip, the other gripping the discarded practice pole. Castiel thinks he looks tired. That said, with how the kaiju have been crawling with increasing frequency out of the Breach with every passing week and decimating the cities lining the Pacific, no one can blame the man for that.

Castiel knows there aren’t enough Jaegers or Jaeger pilots left to defend the coastline against the monsters—but with his history, he’s not getting back into harness. He’s never joining his mind with anyone else’s. Not again.

“Congratulations. You boys done dancing yet?” Singer demands, thumping the butt of the staff on the ground with blunt, percussive force. “We got work to do.”

“Work?” Castiel asks, frowning.

“Congratulations?” Dean finishes.

“Well, yeah.” The Marshall of North America’s last battle-center looks back and forth between them, clearly questioning their intelligence. His lip curls just slightly under his beard—no doubt at their blank expressions. “You’re obviously Drift-compatible, ya idjits.”

“What?”

 “What?”

The Pacific Rim universe is one of the very first AUs I look for in every fandom I get into. And I was sad to see that deatiel has so few. So the Reverse BB was an amazing opportunity to change that XD

I’m beyond grateful for tiamatv amazing story! I love every moment of it, am still in awe at the depth and length of it! Thank you so much for working with me! I enjoyed all of it! This is exactly what I wanted and so much more!

Drawing that armor definitely was an experience. I’m so happy how it turned out!

1996: Dean joins his high school’s pen pal program as a last-ditch effort to keep from repeating the eleventh grade. But soon, the letters he trades with Castiel, a fellow high schooler from Chicago, become the most important constant of his life.

2005: Castiel has been in love with his pen pal Dean for years now. But he’s reluctant to upset the balance of their relationship, so when a new work opportunity takes him to Dean’s city, he keeps it a secret. Will these two ever find their way to each other?

My original submission was the cover photo (Dean and Cas resting their foreheads together) that I left it completely up to interpretation. @friendofcarlotta crafted this amazing penpal story. I can't believe such a beautiful story came from this drawing. Additional art was created after reading this adorable teen to adults AU. Please give it a read here.

I’m so excited to be finally able to share the art I created with the first of my three amazing partners for the @deancasreversebang in 2022, @norahastuff.

The story she wrote, Contrition, is a beautiful exploration of Dean & Cas’s relationship during the Mark of Cain/stolen grace story arcs of Season 10. 

The piece I submitted for art claims was the second of the three above, Dean looking up at the stained glass window of Godstiel. I’m always pining for more fic exploring the lasting effects of Cas’s actions during that time and I’m so delighted the work could inspire such a wonderful story. 

All three of these pieces were painted in traditional watercolor on cold press, rough paper. I spent a lot of time thinking about my own explorations of churches, shrines and religious monuments while traveling when conceptualizing the art, and I wanted to capture some of the way being in these holy spaces always makes me feel. 

Thank you to the mods of the DCRB for organizing such a great event! I’ll be back in about two weeks with my next posting.

Fan of angst? Mystery? Happy ending? Check out Chi_Yagami's beautiful fic, The Shadow! I've been so fortunate to have such of a talented writer claim my art!! When I drew this piece, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted out of it. Chi_Yagami managed to take what little concept I had and create something great out of it. Give it a read :)

Here is my art for the final DCRB 2022 piece. @mittensmorgul wrote a wonderful story you can read here.

So a little about this piece and myself. I thought I would write a little artist note. The original art piece was created from a personal place of my youth. I grew up on a cow farm with a lot of horses and I rode from a very young age. Growing up on a large farm in the prairies I would spend weekends riding down to the lake and seeing fireflies in the summer nights. I spent my time attending 4H and competing and winning some ribbons in regional championships in western horsemanship. As a teen I attended rodeos competing in barrel racing.  The two horses in this picture are representative of Dolly (sorrel) and Baby (paint) mother and daughter quarter horses respectively. So here are some photos of my cowboy days. I am ranging from 13 to 16 in these pictures with a few different horses we owned.

At last, I get to share the art for my second @deancasreversebang collaboration, this time working with the fabulous bodyandsoul (vernstavern on twitter). Her story, Vera forma, is a wonderful series fix-it and you should go read it immediately, especially if you’re an “angelnatural”-lover such as myself!

The piece I originally submitted for claims was the third one above, featuring Dean, Baby and...well, I wanted to leave the rest up to my author to explain and describe. I was excited to see how a writer might interpret the kind of trueform angel art style I’ve been developing these past few months, especially as this was one of the most abstract pieces I’d completed at the time of art claims. And I was so, so delighted with the results! I don’t want to spoil the details of what’s going on in the second piece (and which angel is featured there), so please just read the story and prepare to be delighted.

As usual for me, all three works were done in traditional watercolor with some metallic/gouache overlays for special effects.
