Warmth and Fuzzies for ALL on DBDA Cast Appreciation Week
This intrepid poster kindly thought to reach out to Beth (DBDA co-showrunner) thanking her for work on Dead Boy Detectives.
And not only did she see it. She responded. And turned right around and expressed the creatives' gratitude for all of us. ❤️
Tumblr media
And Zack, one of the writers on the show, jumped in on the love-fest.
Tumblr media
I am so glad the cast and creatives felt our love this week. Thank you to every single person who participated in DBDA Cast Appreciation Week. Thank you to every single person who continues to support the show in whatever way they can.
They feel our love. And looking at Beth's response, they are grateful to our not-so little fandom for loving what they've made, and for fighting to bring it back.
What we do matters, y'all.
And I'm grateful to our not-so-little fandom. We are welcoming and kind. We are inclusive and encouraging and creative (and by "we being creative", I mean YOU all. I consume your art, weep, grin, cheer, and happily repost or comment like it's my second job. That's my role here.) We are, collectively, deeply passionate about this show.
So on the the tail-end of this DBDA Cast Appreciation week, let me just express how deeply appreciative I am to every single person participating in this fandom.
Thank you.

Zack Ogle, the writers' assistant on dbda, said that Edwin loves Christmas and likes to decorate the office
Meanwhile George and Jayden said that the boys don't get festive because they're very busy during the holidays
Which tells me that actors and the crew who aren't writers and main show runners, don't always have all the info and don't always know the direction the show would have gone in
So if you heard something you didn't like during cameo week, you can definitely just choose to ignore it and continue on as before
Yes, s2 was supposedly already mostly written before the cancellation, but there still could have been changes in the script, plus it was never meant to end on s2, they wanted more (I saw someone say ideally they'd want 6 seasons, but I haven't confirmed that piece of info)
So take the bits you liked, throw away those you didn't, we only have one season to go off of and the rest doesn't really matter now <3

NETFLIX WTF???
They had such a a good show on their hands, better than anything else they've done in a while, and they just drop it? They fumbled SO hard. DBDA means so much to do many people and it did and could make them money and get them viewers. Their are so many extremely talented people Netflix should be so extremely grateful to have in their court, actors, directors, writers, show runners, artists, and fans and they betrayed all of them because of soulless corporate greed. This is a sign we should stop letting our happiness depend on capitalist machines that don't give a fuck about you, only your wallets. We need to fucking raise hell and tell them this is not fucking okay. Its not just about DBDA. Its about the power our capitalist overlords have on us. We need to take that power away.

Hi! How many wips do you have right now? And do you have any TSC wips? Would you give a snippet from the wips?
If you have any wessa wips i hope you can give me them :)
I unfortunately don't have any TSC WIPs right now, but I do have a few DBDA WIPs!
From The Rules of Engagement chapter 3 (Edwin/Charles), which will be up tomorrow or Monday:
Charles sighed. The coaster was coming to a stop, and the line was long enough that they probably weren’t going to make it on the next go. But Edwin seemed determined. He looked like he might run to the coaster, and when it stopped, Charles was surprised that he actually did. Edwin was a fast runner for perfectly understandable reasons, but if Charles wasn’t running next to him, it was surprising to sit back and watch anyway.
Edwin sloughed off his letter jacket fast and threw it on one of the coaster seats. No one noticed, of course – after all, it was invisible so long as it was attached to Edwin. But now it wasn’t, and both boys had learned long ago that people saw what they wanted to see. The jacket hadn’t appeared out of thin air – of course not. They were seeing things, or so they’d convince themselves. It was always there. Charles, applauding Edwin’s big brain, ran back up to him. People filed onto the coaster, avoiding the jacket, and the high school kid running the coaster clearly couldn’t be assed to check the seats. Right before it kicked into gear, Charles and Edwin walked through the railing and sat on the seat. Edwin kicked the jacket to the ground, probably so it looked like it’d just blown off, and he stuck his foot on it to make sure that it didn’t blow away. “You know,” Charles teased, “I think I’m a bit offended that you’re abusing my jacket.” Edwin’s eyes moved innocently upward. “Do not be silly, Charles. You can always order another one off the Etsy.”
From Give Me Envy. Give Me Malice. Give Me Your Attention (A Cat King character study):
You had thought she kept you because she loved you. You meowed. “Oh, don’t be silly, Tomcat,” she waved a hand. “I stopped doing things for silly reasons like love long ago. One minute, you’re at your wedding; the next…” She snapped her fingers. “Poof! You’ve killed him, and his rancid slut, too.” She laughed as she settled onto the couch, the folds of her aubergine-and-black gown somehow sinister as her pointed nails raked across the fabric. “But that’s enough about me, babycakes. Tell me something about you. I’m sure there’s something I don’t know going on in your cute little kitty brain.” I love you, you thought. I love you. I love you. Instead, you meowed. What are you? Esther sighed. “I thought this would be obvious at this point, but… I’m a witch. I’m a hundred and fourty-four years young, though I know I don’t look it! And I thought maybe, just maybe, it was time to make things official. Get myself a familiar, you know. Next step in the witch’s life story!”
From the outline of Now We're at the Starting Line (I Did My Time) chapter 4, which will be up in January rather than this month:
Charles is showing Edwin some childhood pictures of him and stuff. Very cute Payneland.
TCK is watching this happen through the window.
He is jealous of the Very Cute Payneland.
He thinks that Charles’s dad is a shit and he wants to go yell at him on Edwin’s behalf.
He resists the urge and thinks that later in the day he’ll pull Edwin aside, be a Funnyguy, and give him a laugh to make everything better
I also have a comic rewrite of Topsy-Turvy , a chapter in the DBDA comic. I haven't started chapter 2 yet, so no snippet. But it's in my mind!
