Business leaders advocate for carbon market bill in Brazil

Bill under consideration in Senate seeks to create Brazilian Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading System

A group of business leaders and top executives is rallying in support of a bill that lays the foundation for the creation of a carbon credits market in Brazil. The group, comprising 59 members, includes notable figures such as Ana Maria Diniz (Instituto Península), Arminio Fraga (Gávea), Elie Horn (Cyrela), Fabiana Alves (Rabobank), Guilherme Benchimol (XP), Horácio Piva (Klabin), Luiza Trajano (Magazine Luiza), Paulo Kakinoff (Porto), Pedro Bueno (Dasa), and Walter Schalka (Suzano).

In August, many of these leaders signed a manifesto titled “Economic Pact with Nature,” offering their support to the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches in advancing projects that help combat global warming. The manifesto highlighted recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul and the wildfires that affected various regions across the country.

Now, building on that initial step, the group is advocating for a bill that represents a convergence of perspectives among lawmakers regarding the creation of rules for carbon credit trading. Currently, there is a bill under discussion in Congress, which is moving through the Senate and addresses the creation of the Brazilian System for Trading Greenhouse Gas Emission Credits (SBCE).

“That first document [Economic Pact with Nature] was broad, and from now on, we want to work on concrete issues, always in partnership with the three branches of government,” said Fábio Barbosa, CEO of cosmetics company Natura.

Approx. 9,500 years before Rejuv: - Founding of the Anima's Reborn Sect by a "Saint of Arceus", presumably Nymiera disguised as a travelling mortal;

Approx. 4,000 years before Rejuv: - The Seven Kingdoms are established with the guidance and aid of the clans; - The clans of the Reborn Sect established contact with their Aevian counterparts, forming a firm alliance between them;

Approx. 3,000 years before Rejuv: - The Garufans arrives at Aevium as refugees from a distant land; - Griselda launches a genocidal campaign against the Garufans out of paranoia, sparking a conflict between the Seven Kingdoms; - Spacea and Tiempa assassinate Griselda, inadvertently turning the latter into a Giratina. The few who chose to remain willingly transformed into Pokemon so that they could continue to protect Aevium; - The Ultimate Weapon was fired, bringing an end to the Great War;

Approximately 3,000 ~ 60 years before Rejuv: - Due to the usage of the Ultimate Weapon, the world became incompatible with the Anima, causing them to suffer a decline they could not recover from. To combat this, they resorted to forming Pacts with their partner Pokemon to preserve what remained of their powers and culture; - Anima survivors and their descendants began to isolate themselves from humans, disillusioned by the war, forming hidden settlements and communities all across the world. Those who disagreed with the statute of secrecy were banished in disgrace, forced to wander the land for the rest of their lives;

Approximately 60 years before Rejuv: - The Miera Disaster, causing the survivors to evacuate in droves and rebuilding their lives in the now uninhabited Aevium region; - Artemis (aka Hauyne) fell to Aevium from a space-time rift. She becomes a ward of Phoenix Academy; - Nymiera meets Artemis in a fateful encounter, and takes the child under her wing as her student; - The Protectors of Aevium are formed;

55 years before Rejuv: - Artemis meets Eriena in Kugearen Library, becoming fast friends. Their friendship, unfortunately, didn't last and were separated due to the latter's imprisonment; - Artemis cuts ties with the Protectors of Aevium, deciding to embark on her own path so not to interfere with the events;

50 years before Rejuv: - Artemis frees Vega from her prison in Phantasmal Arboret, giving her the blessing to go wherever she wishes; - Storm-9. Artemis met her end in a valiant last stand, for the sake of buying Kali, Alain and Crescent time to escape to safety; - Alain and Crescent were recruited into the Stormchasers. Kali goes into the ownership of Alain as per her late trainer's request;

29 years before Rejuv: - Iseult is born; - Vega makes her first contact with Iseult, forming a Bond with the infant with no one being the wiser;

13 years before Rejuv: - Iseult leaves her settlement for good and becomes a wandering trainer;

10 years before Rejuv: - Orion descends onto the Chroniclerverse from the real world; - Events of Reborn;

8 years before Rejuv: - Orion defeats and captures Meteor Arceus, putting an end to the Anomalies plaguing the region; - Events of Desolation;

Well... here’s the family tree. Honestly a lot smaller than I would’ve liked. Using Paint to draft out the genealogy isn’t the best idea lol. Had to cut off so much lore and information just so I could cramp the important stuff onto the canvas. Gonna try this again some other time. More content below!

Some (bonus) lore: - Kanon was adopted into the clan, possibly a few generations before Altair. He didn’t stick around for very long though.

- Altair’s partner is a Cresselia variant named Vega. She’s the one who created Phantasmal Arboret, using her powers over dreams combined with the tremendous amounts of life energy provided by the sacrifices, and has presided over the dreamlike realm as its mistress ever since. She’s also the source of the Mirage Wings and Mirage Plumes - psychic and aura imbued “keys” needed for one to gain passage into Phantasmal Arboret.

- The Viotto clan had a pack of Lucario training under them; in their disappearance, the pack took over as caretakers of their abandoned estates and settlements. Hauyne’s Zeraora, Kali, is a descendant of this pack and a natural-born Zeraora.

- Nymiera was Artemis’ mentor in using her innate aura powers to its fullest extent. She was the one who gifted her the spear, meant as a focus for her to channel her elemental powers more effectively in combat.

- The Alcantara clan of Reborn are related to the Viotto clan due to the two clans regularly intermingling, though it wasn’t mentioned since the whole extended family branch is very massive and would take up too much space.

- It’s speculated that Cyrela may be a distant relative of the clan; while she did not appear to have the potential, it seemed to have played a hand in her miraculous rebirth into a Meloetta (perhaps the reason why her subordinates worshipped only this Mythical and no one else?). Her estranged family (it isn’t clear if there’s any blood relation between them) eventually founded the bloodline from which Anathea is descended from.

- Alexis and Viera, aka the Rhaelas’ Latios and Latias respectively, are twins. On a related note, Deneb and Regulus are twins as well.

- Adrest sired their three children via their host. The identity of their host is unknown, but was regarded as inconsequential since the host’s original identity/consciousness was completely erased and usurped by Adrest’s. In other words, Adrest was brought to life using their first host’s body as a vessel. It’s for this reason that they spent much of their time in dormancy while possessing their later hosts/descendants, not wishing to erase their individuality.

- I never mentioned this anywhere else, but Vitus was the reason why Degeneration even exists. He basically twisted Nymiera’s blessing into a curse as what he perceived as karmic retribution, deeming them unworthy of their humanity for siding with Pokemon over seeing their own kind reign supreme over all.

- All the Alpha Pokemon present in Aevium are descendants of former Anima. In other words, they tend to be stronger and more cunning than their regular counterparts.

Please don’t kill me for coming up with the in-universe reason to support my cursed idea that Hauyne is pretty much related to nearly every single Legendary/Mythical in Aevium one way or another.
