This is one of my favorite moments in Jude's main story that I really wanted to draw since his route release:

Jude is like a firework. It’s fierce, intense, and dangerous if you get too close, but no matter how hard you try to look away, you can’t. But at the same time, maybe because I’ve been watching Jude for so long, a sense of unease is born in me. (Just as no firework shines forever, there are times when it seems like Jude will vanish…..) The profile of the person next to me, seems like he will suddenly disappear without a word to anyone, without leaving anything behind…..

I've been getting in my own head lately about creating polished pieces, so I tried to experiment with a more... sketchy/textured paint-over style. Definitely a struggle when I'm still lacking in a lot of fundamentals! There are a few mistakes I couldn't manage to fix at this time, but maybe when the nagging voice in my head wins, I'll create a cleaned up version.

Darius: It appears your lunch meeting went well. 

Ring: Darius is here too… why are both of you here?

Ring then lowered his voice so that Ellis wouldn't hear him. 

Ring: Are you here for my report…?

Ring: … Ellis is perfect. I don’t think there'll be problems with him becoming family. 

Darius: That’s great. Thanks for the report, Ring. 

While Ring and Darius were talking, Nica turned to Ellis.

Nica: I came to pick my adorable younger brother up because I was worried about him. What did you two talk about? 

Nica: I was watching you from a distance. You looked so close… I felt a little lonely. 

Ellis: Don’t feel lonely, Ring was talking about you the whole time. 

Nica: … About me? 

Ellis: Yeah. He said you’re strong and kind, and that he loves y—

Ring: Ellis, d-don’t!

Cutting off his conversation with Darius, Ring rushed over in a panic to cover Ellis’ mouth.

Nica: Ahaha! You love me that much, Ring? Maybe you can tell me all about it in detail on our way back.

Ring: It’s nothing important…! See you another time, Ellis!

Ellis watched in silence as Nica and Ring boisterously made their way back. 

Darius slowly stepped toward Ellis, like he was trying to get closer to that side of Ellis. 

Darius: … Ellis Twilight. What do you think of those two? 

Ellis: Ring and Nica? I think they care a lot about each other, and seem to have a close relationship and enjoy each other’s company… 

Ellis: … They’re a wonderful pair of twin brothers, I’m almost envious. 

Darius: Envious…? In that case, why not join Vogel and become a part of our family?

Ellis: Family?

Darius: Yes. If you join us… considering your age, you’ll be the youngest. 

Darius: You’ll have three older brothers — me, Nica, and Ring. 

Ellis: … Fufu, that sounds like it'll be very lively but fun. 

Darius: Right? And as you already know, we all are Cursed Ones just like you.

Darius’ honey coloured eyes contained a warmth so gentle and inviting, it could possibly make almost anyone drawn to him. 

His tempting offer that could fill the emptiness in one’s heart was one that most people would surely say yes to. 

However,—

Ellis was different. 

Ellis: … I’ve thought it through, and I don’t think I can become a part of your family.

Ellis: I only have one older brother, always had and always will. … I can’t think of anyone else as “my older brother”. 

Ellis: Besides… I like everyone in Crown, so I have no intention of leaving for now.

Ellis: … I also have the promise I made with Jude. 

Ellis: Thank you for the invite, Darius. I appreciate the sentiment. 

Darius: That’s a shame. But you can always let me know if you ever get tired of Crown and change your mind.

Ellis: … Victor? 

Ellis was caught by surprise when Victor greeted him the moment he stepped through the door. 

Victor: My sixth sense was telling me you'd arrive at around this time! So I thought I'd welcome you. 

Victor: I’m very glad you didn't hesitate to come back to Crown today. 

Victor’s words made Ellis recall what Darius said to him earlier in the day. 

[ Flashback ] 

Darius: Why not join Vogel and become part of our family? 

[ Flashback End ] 

It sounded as though Victor knew everything about the conversation Ellis had with Darius. 

Ellis stared directly into Victor’s eyes that looked like he could see right through him and smiled. 

Ellis: Fufu… I’ll never hesitate to come back. You’re so strange, Victor.

By the time Ellis returned to Crown’s castle… Darius was also finished with his work outside and returned to the palace.

Ring: Welcome back, Dari.

Darius: Thanks. … Where’s Nica? 

Ring: He said he was going to gather information about something, so he headed out a while ago. 

Ring: By the way… how did recruiting Ellis go? 

Darius: He rejected the offer, saying he won’t join Vogel.

Bro is seriously the first one of the suitors with a route out to have both of his parents confirmed to be alive. I seriously thought for a second that he had somehow killed his mother at her happiest moment, but after Chapter 16, I’m fairly sure it will be revealed that he killed his twin brother at his happiest moment, probably because of how much his twin brother suffered after the accident. Ellis is mostly a Utilitarian.

why darius ranked low in jp elecs and wht tht means content wise ↓

basically, i think darius appeals to a smaller set of players bc of his trope being on the more “extreme” end. its kinda like how in politics, its better to appeal to the middle than to any extreme, bc the middle is where the majority of the population lies. same logic here, except replace ideologies with “green flag” and “red flag” or smth like tht maybe lmao

when looking at popular characters like jude, he is sort of like a mix of someone who gives of “villain” vibes with his sadistic? tendencies. but you also know tht he has his own set of morals and would always take on missions involving human trafficking or those were women or children r getting hurt. basically, jude is a good person at his core — he just exhibits traits on the surface tht would make him a “villain” tht made this game appealing in the first place as well. though jude isnt personally my most favorite, i can see why he can appeal to a lot of people, as he strikes a balance really well. same goes for william or elbert.

but darius? he doesnt seem to have as much capacity as the others to like empathize with others. he is a villain, no doubt. but he has very little to balance him out as it stands. his morals had always been fvcked up from the start and views others as lesser than him unless they r cursed. a human could get killed right before his eyes, but he wont give two dead flies ab them 😭🙏 and his “love” seems to be shaped by the basis tht he is able to control the other first. we can see this in ring especially — he probably views his feelings toward ring as a “form of love” but if ring did anything to go against darius, darius would probably feel very .. betrayed? or he wont “love” ring as a family anymore, bc he can no longer control ring and shape him in the way he wants to.

will darius get less content?

i dont think he will reach the level of content overall than, yk, jude lmao but i dont know about cybird sort of throwing him under the bus or smth like tht bc they seem to be trying to push the vogel agenda overall. now tht all the crown boys have gotten their routes, even more so.

he probably wont get as many ecb bonuses as the twins when it comes to vogel, but he probably will still pop up here and there for events, i would imagine! and they will likely place him on a lower threshold for collection events as well, when and if he is featured in those. and conversely, they may put ring on a higher threshold bc he ranked quite well overall for such a new character and first among vogel.
