Saw a cybertruck in person today on the highway driving home
They somehow look even uglier in person. Also it's been raining all day so that hunk of shit is gonna be rusting over quickly lol
#the cybertruck was so ugly it made regular tesla cars look almost acceptable in comparison#can you imagine being stupid enough to spend 80k on a hunk of shit death trap that rusts from water while living in a part of the world that#gets rain & snow very frequently? this is also ignoring tesla threatening to charge people 50k if they resell their cybertrucks (which can't#be legal but I don't think anyone wants to try out legal battling musk money for the ugliest car in existence)

U.S. Launches Investigation into 2.4 Million Tesla Vehicles After Accidents
The U.S. government is checking out Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software more closely. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has kicked off an investigation into 2.4 million Teslas after four accidents were reported. One of those crashes was deadly, and that’s got people really worried about how safe the tech actually is. What Prompted the Investigation? The NHTSA is…

Honestly, too, the biggest thing you can do between now and the ballot booth to stop Trump is to, in your day to day life, treat support for him like a big joke at the expense of the supporters. Make it cringe. Yes, he is evil and a legitimate threat, and yes, it will be dangerous if he's elected, but his supporters like evil, like being threats, and want the dangers of his being elected to happen
What they hate and fear is being the object of ridicule, which is, in fact, the appropriate response to meeting someone dumb enough to support that man. Create an atmosphere in real life where people who support him know that people are laughing at them behind their back. They love to "trigger the libs" and they think scaring people counts as impressing them, but they hate to be targets of mockery, and if you want to depress Trump's turnout at the polls, put this one idea in the heads of his supporters: "if I support Trump, they're all gonna laugh at me."
Seeing a MAGA hat or a Trump sticker in public should yield the same level of derision and mockery as seeing somebody driving a cybertruck.
Like, obviously pick your battles (remember some of them have guns and none of them are very smart or secure in themselves or else they wouldn't support him) but I promise you, the core demographic targeted by his base is "insecure people who want to feel like a big man" and making people understand that Trump supporters are viewed as scared little babies who need encouragement from a failed game show host to feel like a big man without pissing their pants will undercut the primary incentive for supporting him

Ramzan Kadyrov published a video on Saturday of himself driving the vehicle, which he said had been sent to him by “the strongest genius of our time,” Elon Musk, before it was adapted.
Musk later denied giving the vehicle to the Chechen leader. “Are you seriously so retarded that you think I donated a Cybertruck to a Russian general?” Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns.

Over the past few weeks, Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump have both made some huge plays to attract specific groups of men: young ones, in Trump’s case, and white ones, in Harris’.
Harris’ supporters have been hosting huge Zoom calls organizing “white dudes,” while Trump’s made appearances on a wide assortment of fratty podcasts and livestreams. The campaigns’ strategies with these voters are completely different, and they’re each creating their own vision for what masculinity could look like in their parties.
Let’s talk about it.
How Trump and Walz Are Redefining Masculinity
Before this week, Adin Ross, the 23-year-old streamer, had been known for playing NBA 2K, allegedly inadvertently tipping off authorities about accused rapist and human trafficker Andrew Tate’s plans to flee Romania, and getting kicked off Twitch for spewing slurs and hosting the white nationalist Nick Fuentes. This is certainly not the best résumé when applying to become a political commentator, but it was enough for Donald Trump to stream with him for more than an hour at his Mar-a-Lago home on Monday in what equated to a virtual campaign stop, complete with Ross apparently committing a campaign finance violation by gifting Trump with a gaudily-decorated Cybertruck.
The Ross stream is just the latest in a series of streams, podcasts, and TikTok appearances Trump has made with a specific subset of hypermasculine creators who cater to an audience of politically disaffected young men. Trump has long catered to this group, acknowledging their support across fringe parts of the internet in the run-up to his election as president in 2016. But this cycle, he’s engaging with them more directly—appearing, for example, at UFC events—in the apparent belief that this will help turn out younger voters.
The partisan gap between young men and women voters has nearly doubled over the past 25 years, with men growing increasingly more conservative, according to recent polls. With these numbers, you’d think Trump would have little to worry about with this demographic, but some experts suggest that despite this growing divide, the likelihood of young men between the ages of 18 and 29 actually going to the polls might be low.
“He’s trying to pull out base intensity. These young men often don't vote, especially the newcomers to the field,” says Rachel Kleinfeld, a fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “Getting them to care enough to come vote—it's easier if it's something more emotional. All politics runs on emotion.”
She continued: “Most cultures have rites of passage to grow up. It's not an easy thing to do, and we don't in America. And we lost, for a generation, a lot of traditional role models … What we got in their place were these internet influencers and celebrities whom a lot of people aspire to be now.”
Democrats are attempting to create their own contrasting vision for masculinity in light of Trump embracing these creators. Last week, Mike Nellis, a Democratic digital strategist, helped organize the White Dudes for Harris organizing call, where dozens of white male politicians and celebrities spoke to thousands of their white male counterparts about voting for Harris. Throughout the call, many of the speakers—including Harris’ veep pick, Tim Walz—made the case for these same disaffected young men to abandon the Republican Party.
“I think that there are millions and millions of white dudes in this country who are sick and tired of MAGA politics and who reject Project 2025 and need a model and permission structure for something else, and so that’s what we’re doing with White Dudes for Harris,” says Nellis.
Nellis saw Harris’ decision to bring Walz onto her ticket as another play at attracting white male voters. “The guy's a father, and what would be like a ‘real man’ on paper. But here he is supporting and advocating for women's rights. He's campaigning for a woman of color for president. He's talking about ending gun violence,” says Nellis. “There are new models out there, and so I think that there's a fight over what it means to be a man.”
“We've had a cultural problem with young men for a number of years that is now becoming a political problem, and both parties are recognizing it,” says Kleinfeld.
Back in 2019, I profiled a YouTuber named Joey Salads who was running for a Staten Island House seat against Nicole Malliotakis. He never stood a chance at winning, but his Instagram model girlfriend, nice cars, and 10 million followers convinced him he had a shot. Salads admired Trump, seeing him as someone for whom the rules also did not apply in the pursuit of money and success.
4chan incels and hypermasculine YouTube pranksters had been viewing Trump as a role model even before the former president was elected. In 2024, those influencers and brainrotted forum posters have more influence than ever, and they’re paying it forward to the man who made it all possible.
“In a way, they’re kind of like post-incels, having overcome some of their inceldom with fame and followers but retaining the resentments and insecurities that get expressed in bizarre ways,” Jack Z. Bratich, a communications expert and professor at Rutgers University, tells me. “It’s possible Trump’s campaign is trying to extend their reach with these types, or else they are just seeking to increase the voting numbers of young men and happen to have stumbled upon this new mutation of online youth.”
Around 49 percent of young white men voted in the 2020 election, according to data from the Center for American Women and Politics. That’s a nine point increase from 2016.

Do you ever think that Transformers on either side start to lose their shit and start laughing their asses off if they see someone with a cybertrunk as their alt form?
Cause I would lose my shit in the middle of a fucking battle if I see a goddamn cybertruck come barreling into battle and expect me to take your ass seriously??? Hell no I'm gonna laugh my ass off at your ridiculous looking as. You're also getting your ass beat immediately before getting laughed at again.

If Tesla sticks to its latest production timeline for the Cybertruck, we are just weeks away from the start of production and the first deliveries to employees(..)
With those vehicles, the at least five Cybertrucks in New Zealand and the ones on the roads testing in California, Tesla seems to have produced a decent number of Cybertrucks. It’s a good sign that Tesla is progressing toward an official start of production(..)
P.S. Very good news! Legacy automakers are running out of time. With their pathetic, low-volume and overpriced EVs, they are absolutely incapable of competing against Tesla...
It is quite possible that "big oil" and legacy automakers, who are losing the battle for the car market, will try to use "out-of-market" fighting methods, organizing anti-EV misinformation campaigns and false accusations...
In any case, the entry of the Tesla Cybertruck into the car market will change the situation there quite dramatically, depriving legacy automakers of one of the most important segments of the ICE car market, where they make a large share of profits...

modern car design has honestly gone to shit
one reason is that it is now cheaper to put touchscreens, servos, and just screens in general than it is to actually engineer a properly working mechanical system, despite those being around for a literal century now
what's with the "one screen in the middle that controls everything" design philosophy anyways? "we want our drivers to look away from the road" is not. y'know. safe
the futuristic aspect also draws in buyers and (probably) investors, which makes it easier to fund projects. because futurism is better. these cars don't need to last!
and that's another problem: cars, ICE and EV, are not really built to last anymore. yes, all vehicles have a lifetime that they are rated for, but honestly it feels like it's getting shorter. or maybe consumerism has something to do with it: you always need to buy the newer and better car.
driving habits also do have something to do with it though, short commutes with lots of starting/stopping the engine do wear out parts faster. a lot of modern cars have the ability to turn off the engine while at a standstill, which does help increase fuel efficiency at the detriment of the engine
EVs do have drops in battery performance/capacity over time, which doesn't help
shifters are also changing. a lot. i mean, some are definitely cool, and I don't mind things like the BMW shifters that are just an automatic but fancy looking:
but then you have uh. well. tesla. with the touchscreen shifter. ok then
also they have the backup shift buttons. on the ceiling. yeah.
and their turn signals suck. that's enough dunking on tesla for this post. but do continue to dunk on tesla. especially the 6000+ lb. deathtrap called the cybertruck
which actually leads into the next point, big dumb trucks (and the general size increase of cars/the move towards SUVs and crossovers, but mainly the trucks). you know what they are. the giant trucks that have hoods taller than most sedans. that had that beautiful graphic of having worse sight lines than a main battle tank
safe for everyone, you see? they exist because of EPA regulations, after a certain size you're a work truck and less subject to regulations. and also the regulations on small vehicles are much higher than larger ones, in terms of like power to weight. so its a lot easier to make big than make small
most of them are pavement princesses anyways
repeal the chicken tax though, bring in light truck competition from overseas manufacturers. i want my kei trucks/cars (although that's the 25 year import law)
SUVs are painted as being safer, but actually have a higher center of gravity and are more prone to rolling over. they are safer though, cause they have more mass, which means what you hit gets damaged more and you get damaged less.
crossovers are weird cause they kind of can skirt regulations? not sure how they work
you can bypass some regulations with the "SUV overbite." give yourself a good approach angle, and now you're not a passenger vehicles and aren't subject to as many regulations. consequence is you look like this (sorry lexus)
electronic handbrakes. what. it makes sense, somewhat, but also manual handbrakes work perfectly well and are far less prone to failure (also drifting but)
push to start. i mean, it's not all bad, but keys are fun. give me keys. manual is better (although not necessarily for transmissions). don't be constantly emitting a signal that can be copied to steal a car. tesla i'm looking at you. a lot in this
i will say that not all digital displays are created equal. as far as i'm concerned, toyota/lexus have some very beautiful gauge clusters:
spicy, sleek, dare i say sexy, and they trickled down from the lexus LFA, which had a 9k rpm redline and got to that so fast they had to make a new digital cluster just to keep up. wild stuff. plus it's not too in your face and still has some mechanical components. nice
honestly no idea where i was going with this, but:
modern car design is getting worse because of futurism, trying to keep costs down, and poorly written/considered regulations
Touchscreens do not belong in cars

The Tesla Cybertruck Will Be Added To Fortnite Tomorrow
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/the-tesla-cybertruck-will-be-added-to-fortnite-tomorrow/
The Tesla Cybertruck Will Be Added To Fortnite Tomorrow
On an almost weekly basis, Fortnite announces new crossover events, adding characters to its Battle Royale, Lego, and Festival modes. Whether it’s a fictional character like Jack Sparrow or a real person like Ariana Grande, it’s hard to find a corner of pop culture the game hasn’t touched. These crossovers, however, are almost always exclusive to characters, but Fortnite players don’t always have to traverse the Battle Royale map on foot – there are vehicles as well. Today’s crossover comes in the form of a particularly polygonal vehicle: Tesla’s Cybertruck.
For the unfamiliar, the Cybertruck is one of Tesla’s latest electric vehicles, a futuristic-looking pickup truck with a distinct shape and stainless steel exterior. It’s a vehicle that, quite frankly, always looked like it belonged in a video game, both because of its angular aesthetic and the word “cyber” in its name.
It’s unclear exactly how the truck will be present in Fortnite, as the trailer doesn’t include any actual gameplay, but it’s likely a vehicle skin that can be purchased from the in-game store. With car skins attached, whenever a player enters a vehicle, it will morph into the selected skin of their choice, and it’s available in Battle Royale and Rocket Racing alike. This is purely speculation, however – it’s equally possible the vehicle is introduced in some other limited-time event.
The Cybertruck will be added to Fortnite tomorrow. If you drive one, just pray your opposing players aren’t wielding a steel ball.
how do you feel about the Cybertruck being added to Fortnite? what other vehicles would you like to see in the game? Let us know in the comments!
