In June 2023, a group of Finland’s most notorious neo-Nazis and a few of their international friends ventured to a lakeside cabin resort set against picturesque woodlands some 120 kilometres north of Helsinki.
They called the gathering ‘White Boy Summer Fest’ after an internet meme co-opted by far-right extremists. Bellingcat first investigated the phenomenon in 2021. Run by a far-right cultural collective and combat sports group, the event was first held last year, and organisers have indicated plans to make White Boy Summer Fest (WBS) an annual affair.
Over two days, attendees watched far-right bands perform, participated in combat sports, and mingled with other hate group members in hot tubs. Observers warn that neo-Nazi networks — including international ones like the Hammerskins, whose members attended WBS — use events like these to network, radicalise each other, recruit new members and raise money.
Organisers have successfully kept the locations of the 2022 and 2023 WBS events hidden from the public — until now. Thanks to Bellingcat’s Global Authentication Project (GAP) and burgeoning Discord community, we geolocated both events to rural accommodations belonging to Evo Nature Ltd, a hospitality company in southern Finland. According to its website, Evo has properties in 15 locations between Helsinki and Tampere and received approximately 30,000 customers in 2019.
When asked about the booking, Evo owner Kaj Järvinen told Bellingcat he had no knowledge of the events held by WBS and emphasised that his properties receive a large number of bookings each year.
“I have no clue whatsoever about these type of events. We have around 20 large rental properties. We receive more than 5,000 offer requests and around 1,000 group bookings on a yearly basis, and we do not ‘screen’ our customers if there are no obvious reasons visible.”
There is no suggestion that Evo broke any laws in renting out the property. Neo-Nazi groups in Finland have previously rented for-hire venues without the owner’s knowledge: for example a concert earlier this year was organised by the Jyväskylä branch of far-right network Blood and Honor at a leftist social club near the centre of the city.
In-person venues are nevertheless crucial to the neo-Nazi scene and related subcultures: Europol, the European Union (EU) law enforcement agency, noted they “place high value on physical meetings and group activities” in a report earlier this year.
The 2023 edition of WBS kicked off the evening of Friday, June 16. As photos posted by organisers on social media make clear, the spectacle was anything but subtle. Four Finnish neo-Nazi bands performed sets on a stage in a log cabin while flanked by two swastika banners. Some band members sported Nazi patches and symbols on their clothes and instruments.
In a video taken inside the cabin and posted by organisers, a flag of the international neo-Nazi network Blood & Honour hangs on a wall by the stage. As Bellingcat discussed in our investigation of European Fight Night in Hungary, Blood and Honour is banned in several European countries, including Germany and Spain. They were also listed as a terrorist organisation by the Canadian government in 2019.
Meanwhile, members of the domestic neo-Nazi group Crew 38 Finland attended WBS, according to their Telegram channel.
According to a report earlier this year by Finland’s public broadcaster, police documents suggest five men arrested in 2021 over suspicion of planning terrorist attacks were significantly influenced by Crew 38 Finland, and met frequently with some of its members.
Crew 38 Finland are also an affiliate of the international Hammerskins network. Founded in the late 1980s in Dallas, Texas, the Hammerskins are described as “the most violent and best-organised neo-Nazi skinhead group in the United States,” by the US-based Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
Nicolas Potter, a researcher at the Amadeu Antonio Foundation, a German NGO which works to combat racism and far-right extremism, warned EU policymakers in an address to the Council of Europe earlier this year that “classic neo-Nazi networks from the Hammerskins to Blood & Honour continue to forge international alliances,” adding “far-right rock festivals and Mixed Martial Arts tournaments serve as spaces of radicalisation, recruitment and fundraising.”
The weekend of events was about more than just music; participants could sit in the sauna, get a tattoo and buy clothes from extremist brands (some of which feature in our 2022 investigation of far-right fashion).
They could also watch a series of combat sports fights put on by Veren Laki (‘Law of Blood’), one of the event’s co-organisers. According to Tommi Kotonen, an expert on far-right extremism in Finland, Veren Laki is linked to the Finnish branch of the neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (Finnish acronym PVL). The country’s highest court issued a temporary ban against the group in 2019 due to its spreading of hate speech and use of violence.
Veren Laki is linked to other similar groups internationally that focus on combat sports and training for physical confrontation. According to the organisation’s Telegram channel, a fighter from Veren Laki fought at the far-right combat sports event European Fight Night in Hungary in May 2023. At WBS 2023, photos show several fighters wearing equipment from Pride France, a brand run by French neo-Nazi Tomasz Szkatulski. Currently based in Sofia, Bulgaria, Szkatulski posted on his Telegram channel that he was banned from entering Germany for ten years in July 2023.
The fights outside were followed by another indoor concert. Four bands, including two from Italy, took to the now swastika-free stage to play. Green Arrows, an Italian band popular across Europe’s far-right extremist music scenes, headlined. Green Arrows has publicly declared their support for Italy’s neo-fascist CasaPound movement — the movement’s flag adorned the stage during their set.
But where exactly did all of this take place? Upon seeing photos and video of the event, one of Bellingcat’s volunteers who is based in Finland thought the location looked familiar and began to investigate.
Suspecting it was one of a series of rentable rural cottages in the southern Finnish Lakeland, he soon found a possible venue location on Google Maps.
Open source techniques confirmed his suspicion. He later realised he had been to the location as part of a routine work retreat. A comparison of photos and a video shared by WBS organisers with images of the property posted on Evo’s website confirmed the location of WBS 2023 — a log cabin in the Hämeenlinna region described as an “atmospheric event space” with a small stage and room for 100 people. The barn is part of a seven-acre rental complex with villa apartments, three hot tubs and a lakeside sauna. The site, which is advertised for corporate retreats and family holidays, is approximately a two-hour drive from Finland’s capital, Helsinki, and 90 minutes from Tampere, Finland’s second-largest urban area. Photos of the venue from the owner’s website showed a room whose wooden beams match those seen in photos of a musical performance during WBS 2023.
Furthermore, the pattern observed on a wooden beam as well as the gaps in the wood of the log cabin matches photos of the cabin on the accommodation website with those in a photo posted by WBS participants.
But what about the previous year’s “festivities” at WBS 2022?
One of the organisers’ Telegram channels outlined to attendees that the 2023 location wasn’t the same as in 2022, but “about a 15-minute drive from last year’s location.”
Searching for similar rentable rural venues in the vicinity of the 2023 event, Bellingcat found the location of the 2022 event — a small villa of red-sided cabins owned by the same hospitality company.
While WBS organisers have announced plans for a 2024 edition, it is unclear if a venue has been chosen. One thing is clear: the value of gatherings like these to the far-right organisations.
Not only do they provide groups a chance to share and promote their ideology, the Financial Action Task Force, the Paris-based global money-laundering watchdog, said in a 2021 report that “most of the funding for extreme right-wing groups appears to come from licit sources” including concert organising and merchandise sales.

7 Top Spa-Wellness Trends
By Nancy Trent
The overarching theme at the September 2019 ISPA (International Spa Association) Conference, held in Las Vegas, was “evolution.” This is the most appropriate description for what the spa industry is experiencing. As the founder of the leading wellness PR firm, I’ve been attending ISPA since it was established. At that time, spas were wrestling with various identities…yoga retreats, fat farms and places to heal. Today, spa has evolved into an accessible place of wellness. My personal philosophy and the mission of my firm is to make wellness applicable to every room of the home or office, every member of the family and every time of day. It was satisfying to see that reflected at ISPA this year, as well as at the ISPA media event prior to the show, where spas showcased the products, services and equipment they feature. A look at the seven trends that took center stage at the show:
CBD
Part of that evolution is spa’s role in the much anticipated, here-to-stay CBD industry. According to the newest 2019 ISPA U.S. Spa Industry Study, the use of cannabidiol (CBD) was the biggest trend in the industry. This study reveals that almost one in five spas has a CBD offering. “What is more interesting is that the study shows that 56% of spas stated they would be adding CBD to their spas in the next two years,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees. “If these numbers ring true, almost 75% of all spas in the U.S. will offer CBD treatments by the end of 2020. It’s incredible how quickly this trend has taken hold in just a few short years. We expect to see many of the traditional brands launch CBD lines to complement their current products.”
While CBD is still in its infancy at the spa, the spa industry is going to become a place of education for it, as it has been for salt and cryotherapy. “The spa experience is so important to health and well-being, and it truly helps people stay centered, whether they are stay-at-home moms, business executives, athletes, students or travelers,” said Julie Duncan, President and Co-Owner of SPAFLASH.
Spa-lovers looking to save time and money on locating salon/spa, and wellness experiences have a new resource at their fingertips, with SPAFLASH, a new consumer shopping website. SPAFLASH a site that is free to join, provides consumers with access to appointment availability, events, value-added experiences, and packages on salon/spa and wellness services throughout greater Dallas/Fort Worth. It will be now be launching in more states and cities throughout the U.S.
Salt
The biggest spa trend prior to CBD was salt, which has been popping up in new spa spaces in different ways such as salt beds, rooms, lamps and treatments. “This is a trend [that is here] to stay as salt has so many benefits to offer through detoxification, calming and glowing skin,” said Duncan.
Integrative/functional medicine
Spas are a showroom for wellness. “Carillon Miami Wellness Resort is attracting like-minded partners who want to be a part of the wellness evolution,” said VP of Spa Operations and Co-General Manager, Tammy Pahel. This year, Dr. Vladimir Turovskiy joined Carillion Miami to lead the resort’s new Oriental Medicine division so guests can enhance their well-being with integrative/functional medicine evaluations and oriental medicine diagnoses. Highlights on this spa menu now include popular treatments such as Infrared Sauna with Himalayan Salt, Salt Float Bath Therapy, and Cryoskin slimming and toning. The spa also partnered with Italian wellness brand LEMI, which outfitted the spa with the latest cutting-edge tech including color therapy and a Crystal Quartz Massage Bed. They also have what is now a muscle recovery circuit, which is used mostly by athletes and great for anyone who seeks recovery and relief.
Wellness jewelry
Another emerging category spotted by Duncan is jewelry. “Jewelry that is meaningful and makes your heart smile is representing up to 30% of fashion merchants product mix.”
HiChi Energy Jewelry, designed to protect, elevate and rejuvenate the wearer, had great success at the show, as did River and Sky, two great California brands.
Slow fashion
Spas are becoming a more popular purveyor of fashion in general, and athleisure is right there to slip into. “Spiritual Gangster and Terez is like a uniform for me,” said Duncan. “People are looking for fashionable, comfortable clothing that has meaning, including a story to tell.”
River & Sky is a good example of spa fashion done well, leading the movement from fast fashion back to slow fashion. Founder Michael Keefer said, “It’s getting easier for companies to source sustainable fabrics and that’s great because landfills with polyester aren’t going away. Retail customers feel good about it.”
Farm-to-table
Spa goers also expect to experience slow food. At the Woodstock Inn & Resort in Vermont where Michelle Adams Sommerville is spa director, most of what guests experience is homegrown. “We’re connecting to animals, nature and land, that is where wellness is going,” explained Sommerville. At The Woodstock Inn, farmers collaborate with the chef; the menu comes before the growing. What doesn’t come from the local historic Billings farm and heirloom garden is grown at the FarmHouse Fresh ranch in Texas.
Farm-to-Table has been a huge trend in the food industry for years, but in recent times, there has been a need for it in the spa scene as well. Farm-to-Treatment is a trend that FarmHouse Fresh has pioneered and one that’s not going anywhere. People care so much about what they put into their bodies that it only makes sense to put freshly harvested ingredients on our skin (our largest organ) which absorbs 60% of products into your bloodstream. Fresh extracts transform skin, and when they are grown on local U.S. farms—cucumbers, kale, amaranth, tomatoes—they can be harvested, washed and extracted in hours to ensure vitamins are at their peak.
Male-driven goods
ISPA’s Consumer Snapshot Study revealed that men now make up almost half of the customers going to spas. We’ve been predicting more men will be going to the spa for a decade, and now there is evidence it’s finally happening. “The same study also found that 48% of men go to spas intending to purchase retail products. This reveals a huge opportunity for current and new product companies to launch male-driven goods that will attract this growing clientele of spa customers,” said McNeese.
Spotted on the show floor…
We put together a list of some of the other spa trends we spotted for every member of the household.
A new shower ritual: European Spa Source is disrupting the spa industry by creating a totally brand-new category with its ShowerSpa Mist that transforms an ordinary shower into a luxurious, relaxing, aromatherapy experience, allowing you to bring the spa home with you wherever and whenever you take a shower. They’ve just added a new aromatherapy shower spray to their iconic collection and have even introduced a brand-new pillow spray. Trusted and used in spas internationally, it utilizes 100% pure, pharmaceutical-grade eucalyptus—a plant known to open airways, kill mold & bacteria, and help people absorb more oxygen, faster. The spray is then steam distilled for the ultimate steam-room experience that is filtered and chemically analyzed for consistency and quality. It’s hailed by pop star and media mogul Nicole Scherzinger as a product that’s “changed her life.”
Thermal wellness: Spa Revolutions’ Thermal Bliss Collection is the first-to-market instant-thermal wellness massage, skincare, and nail tools. With benefits like a better night’s sleep, improved blood circulation, a full deep cleanse of the body, and a stimulated immune system, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon in any temperature. Treatments include Lava Shells massage which brings Hawaiian heat to you sans the volcano, stimulates tissue and allows ultimate relaxation to seep through. It’s also easy on the spa with no wait time or sanitation issues and better pressure points and leverage through the shell’s edge. The company also introduced the ThermaFusion Facial Mask, a one-of-a-kind moist heat-infusing mask that gives skin the hydration it craves by bringing the heat and opening up the pores without steam.
Mostly widely known for PerfectSense Paraffin, the new standard in paraffin-based treatments with its mobile, electricity-free heating, aromatherapy, and exclusive nourishment blend formula, the company just introduced Paraffin Anywhere to nourish skin in just three-minutes flat.
Beeswax: For dry, cracked winter skin, we suggest people try BeeSpa. Developed from a secret recipe from a beekeeper’s grandmother, all-natural BeeSpa works quickly to provide relief to cracked and dry skin on your hands, feet, and everywhere in-between. Beeswax carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are essential to healing and preventing dry, chapped, or cracked skin.
Probiotic skin wellness: People should be using probiotic skincare year-round. There are millions of microorganisms (a vast variety of bacteria, viruses, and fungi) currently living on your skin. Research shows that some of these microorganisms actually promote skin health, and reinforce your skin’s natural barrier against harmful bacteria, balance your skin’s pH levels, and may even protect against skin cancer. But the use of harsh facial cleansers and antibacterial products strip your skin of its “good” bacteria and other microorganisms, damaging the skin’s natural ecosystem known as your “microbiome.” As a legacy brand and leading innovator since 1871, Columbia Skincare uses prebiotics, probiotics, botanicals, and peptides in a science-backed formula that helps people heal their skin by supporting microbiome health while stimulating the natural production of collagen and hyaluronic acid to activate the skin’s natural healing process. Columbia Skincare Probiotic products are proven to speed up skin renewal, improve the cohesiveness of skin cells, reinforce the barrier, and amplify skin’s production of antibiotic-like chemicals. The strains, protein, and stem cells in Columbia Skincare products were selected based on years of research that determined these ingredients together potentiate and become a new complex, unique formulation—blending science and nature for supreme wellness and skin health. Columbia Skincare’s proprietary technology assures the efficacy as well as the safety of their products when used as recommended. Renowned dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe claims Columbia Skincare products are the best for “Sensitive, Irritated, and Rosacea-Prone Skin” and recommends it for use after chemical peels, laser treatments, and micro-needling, or to offset the uncomfortable effects of retinoids and exfoliants.
Fun, functional and better-for-you sun protection: Wallaroo Hat Company, the innovative Australian inspired headwear brand that combines fashion and long-lasting sun protection, featured its newest collection of hats. Carkella by Wallaroo is a private-label brand for the spa, golf, travel, and resort industries. Carkella features UPF 30+ and 50+ rated hats with interchangeable magnetic badges that are ideal for individualized branding. The Carkella line affords a new opportunity to increase brand identity with customizable hats perfect for destinations, tournaments, industry events and private parties. An embossed metal badge attaches to a hidden magnet inside the trim of each hat. The badges can be customized using any artwork, logo, or one of Carkella’s signature designs.
A lot of times people forget that you must protect the scalp from sun as well. In fact, 10% of skin cancer develops on the scalp. Scalpforce provides a reliable solution to stay safe in the outdoors with a scalp and hair spray-on tonic free of toxic ingredients.
Long hailed as the “it” eco-luxe brand, Soleil Toujours continues to revolutionize sun protection and daily skin care. Their new “no makeup” cosmetics line combines the trendy minimalist makeup look with their no-frills, all-organic sun protection formula for a face you can wear with confidence.
No more invasions: “What started out as an attempt to reduce cellulite became a go-to for recovery. CellFit is so non-invasive it is actually enjoyable,” said co-founder Polina Levant. The technology doesn’t pull or stretch the skin in treatment, it uses compression and vibration instead. It is multipurpose and painless and can be done the same day of an event, game, runway show or red carpet. It’s full spectrum, which means it treats the entire body, including feet! The company says it helps with skin toning, lymphatic drainage, oxygenation, increase in microcirculation, reduction of cellulite and flushes out lactic acid.
Safety first: Now more than ever, business owners are taking preemptive action to prevent their companies from coming under fire for inappropriate action. Spas and massage parlors are no exception. That’s why Stay Saife developed MARIA. Their newest AI technology places MARIA, a virtual assistant, in the room to watch behavior and actions in real time through infrared light detection without recording or invading privacy issues.
An epigenetic approach to peptides: Peptides are quickly emerging as the leading ingredient in anti-aging skin regimens. HydroPeptide takes its age-defying formula one step further with the science of Epigenetics. According to the company, the skincare line is packed with powerful gene-signaling that tell genes to shape up and get glowing.
Affirmations from your feet: The concept of Stickybesocks seems pretty obvious: socks with no-slip grippers on the bottoms of each pair that make yoga, Pilates, and other forms of exercise and movement that much easier. But there’s more to it! Each pair of socks from this female-founded company comes with a daily affirmation printed on the bottom of the foot alongside the no-slip grips. So whether you want to “Be Unique,” “Be Brave,” or simply “Be You,” this brand makes sure you start your day out on the right foot.
Personal pain relief: This is an unforgettable product and another must-have spa innovation. Following a motorcycle accident, the creator of Theragun decided to build a tool that could help accelerate muscle repair and recovery. Constructed from a lifetime of chiropractic practice, the Theragun is the go-to tool for percussive therapy, which relieves tension in the body’s soft tissue to provide effective pain relief.
More from ISPA:
With all the great products and services available, the biggest issue affecting the spa industry is the shortage of qualified employees. The industry currently has over 30,000 unfilled positions with properties actively looking to increase their staffing levels to meet demand. ISPA is committed to tackling this issue by both recruiting new employees to this rewarding career path and educating spa managers on how to retain their existing employees.
This spring, ISPA will host the ISPA Talent Symposium on April 15, 2020. This event will be the first of its kind for the industry and will highlight energetic and innovative approaches to solving workforce challenges while equipping attendees with tools to retain employees in today’s competitive marketplace. Seth Mattison, known internationally as an expert on workforce trends, generational dynamics and business strategy, will be a featured keynote at this event. “We are excited to share these new approaches to workforce development with our attendees,” shared McNees.
The next ISPA Conference and Expo will be held at the Gaylord National, National Harbor, MD, Oct. 14-16, 2020. For more information about ISPA, its membership, initiatives and events visit experienceispa.com.

Mystery seller lists ‘exceptional’ estate—furnished—in Buckhead’s Tuxedo Park for $9M
The hand-cut stone and limestone exterior of 421 Blackland Road. | Photography: Ilya Zobanov/Gold Lens Media
Furnishings include pieces by Roberto Cavalli and Christopher Guy
This 2010 custom estate on Blackland Road in Tuxedo Park has a history of celebrity intrigue and offers a true intown escape—and in a rare move for Atlanta, its top-shelf furnishings come with.
With seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms in 15,200 square feet, this palatial home includes a two-level living room, home theater, fitness center, sauna, and wine cellar. Throughout, design details range from wide-plank walnut flooring and mahogany doors and windows to 11-foot ceilings.
It’s a stylish blend, overall, of contemporary and classic, with a museum’s worth of fine art.
Inside the master bathroom, for example, potential homeowners could enjoy heated floors, a steam shower, and a private door to the study (who doesn’t want that?)
Some furnishings included with the sale hail from such designer collections as Roberto Cavalli and Christopher Guy. It’s not clear if that Storm Trooper helmet or the wine collection also come with, but they’d be strong bonuses.
Outside, entertaining will be a breeze thanks to the covered outdoor Viking kitchen, seating area, and fireplace, not to mention the swimming pool, spa, and large terrace.
The two-level living room offers ample space for relaxing.
According to listing agent Debra Johnston of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties, the current owner, who purchased the home for $7.15 million in 2017, loves it but travels extensively, and the space is more than needed right now, thus the desire to sell.
Johnston wouldn’t disclose who the seller is, and it’s listed under an LLC in property records.
If it all looks familiar, this property made headlines when it was coveted a few years ago by Justin Bieber, as he scoured Atlanta for a home from which to launch his post-teens comeback. (The Biebs ultimately rented Dallas Austin’s futuristic pad in Sandy Springs.)
This time around, the owner has listed the home for $9 million—notably less than when it was first posted for sale in January 2018 for $12.5 million.
In February 2018, it was listed again, first for $10.5 and then for $9.5 million. It was removed in August 2018 and took a one-year hiatus before reappearing on the market once more.
It’s unknown if those previous listings included a furnished home, so perhaps this could be the right incentive to land a solid big-bucks offer.
The dining room is flooded with natural light.
The expansive kitchen includes a large island and stainless steel appliances.
A cozy den for relaxing with family—or the entourage.
The master bedroom has plenty of room for activities.
The master bathroom with heated floors and a steam shower.
The downstairs hallway with movie collectibles.
An extensive wine cellar.
An upscale home theater with audio by McIntosh.
The outdoor kitchen and seating area.
The expansive swimming pool terrace with a waterfall edge.

Allergan Discontinues Regi – WWD
https://pmcwwd.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/shutterstock_editorial_6080969e.jpg?w=640&h=415&crop=1
Regi, an Allergan-backed on-demand beauty booking platform, is being discontinued a little over a year after its launch.
An e-mail to customers Thursday announced the platform’s closure, effective June 25. A spokesperson for Allergan did not respond to WWD by press time.
Allergan debuted Regi in April of 2019. The online platform and texting service, through which users could book last-minute appointments for beauty, wellness and medical aesthetics treatments, featured 370 service providers in three markets — New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. Treatment options ran the gamut from facials to manicures to injectables.
The project was spearheaded by Allergan’s digital ventures unit, Project Moonwalker, which is run by Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, the serial entrepreneur who founded fashion and beauty start-ups Gilt Groupe, Glamsquad and Fitz. Project Moonwalker also includes Spotlyte, a beauty content site. At the WWD Influencer Summit last June, Wilkis Wilson said the Regi launch was “going well” and attracting a mix of Millennial and Gen X clientele. “We’re seeing repeat booking, addictive engagement with the site,” she noted.
Salons and spas across the country are slowly beginning to reopen after government-mandated closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. The closures have forced some businesses that depend on in-person services to shutter. In New York, the infrared sauna spa Shapehouse shuttered all four of its locations in late May, along with one in Los Angeles.
Salons and spas began to open in New York on June 22, with limited capacity.
Allergan in May was acquired by pharmaceutical company AbbVie.

What’s the Most Important Lesson You’ve Learned Along Your Journey?
Every twist in our story, challenge we face, and obstacle we overcome is an important part of our story. These difficulties make us stronger and wiser and prepare us for what’s ahead. As we grow and succeed we may imagine that soon the challenges will fade away, but in our conversations with business owners, artists, creatives, academics, and others we have learned that the most common experience is that challenges never go away – instead they get more complex as we grow and succeed. Our ability to to thrive therefore depends heavily on our ability to learn from our experiences and so we are asking some of the city’s best and brightest: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Alisa Popelka | Founder + Principal Interior Designer of Alisa Cristine Interiors
Premoe Photography
As an entrepreneur I had to learn to define what success meant to me and forget about what success is to everyone else. Being a solo (entrepreneur), I learned that I needed to accept and be okay with the fact that the journey to achieving big goals is going to take me longer than a firm with a team. With the heavy influence of social media it’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison trap, and be hard on yourself for what you aren’t accomplishing when in reality you need to celebrate and honor how far you’ve come. All of those small wins lead to achieving big goals so I’ve learned I have to give myself some grace and keep moving forward everyday to better my business and hit those milestone moments.

Alex Mauricio | Dallas and Tampa Realtor®
REAL is a huge piece of the term REAL-tor which makes authenticity so important for a Real Estate Pro. Be honest, ethical, moraland most importantly be yourself! You still have to have the intellect and real estate chops to back up your credibility as a competent agent, but as far as getting your foot in the door to start a conversation with a home buyer or home seller, being your true self will set you apart. In this day & age, an important part of why a client chooses to hire a professional is based on how they connect with YOU! Your quirky sense of humor, your funky personal style, right down to your adorable regional accent all makes up who you are as an individual. As a newbie, I thought I needed to portray myself in a certain way to be successful. I studied top agents in my area and took note. Luckily, I learned very quickly that we all have something unique to bring to the table. It’s one thing to learn tips and tools of the trade from your peers but you don’t want to become a carbon copy of them. People are savvy enough to see through disingenuous behavior. Do YOU, do what comes naturally and the rest will follow!

Throughout my journey as first an Emergency Nurse and transitioning to preventative care, I have learned to never stop asking questions. In order to improve yourself, you must have the desire to learn more, hone your skills, and be up to date on current guidelines and research. Asking questions and wondering “what else” allows you to see outside the box and dig deeper. Everything new begins with a question or a hypothesis. Applying this ideal to patients is a great tool to find the root cause of an issue and therefore better serve them. Continuing to apply this lesson has helped me expand my view of medicine to include traditional, holistic, and functional medicine. I desire to continue to improve and be a life long learner by always asking more questions.

For me, the most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey are the reflections I’ve made on my life and the improvements made from every downfall. As cliché as it sounds you must truly believe in yourself in order to stay focused on your journey. I feel as though we were all put here to be and do great things in this world. And there’s a path for everyone to take. I have learned how to be my biggest fan and go after every burning desire I have with the highest expectation that I can achieve and succeed. Not a care for how many times I’ve failed much confidence that success will come overtime. This is my journey -Rachel Dixon

Melina Flabiano | Founder and CEO, Keaton
Female Founder Collective
Don’t wait for perfection. I’ve heard this advice many times, but as a lifelong perfectionist I always struggled to adopt it. When I first started Keaton I would spend hours creating content for social media or drafting e-mails to advisors and investors. I became frustrated that I wasn’t progressing fast enough. I’ve shifted my mindset to bring customers and advisors on the (often messy) startup journey with me. I’ll share behind-the-scenes content rather than perfectly edited photos, or ping advisors with a few topical questions when I need help instead of waiting to have the perfect answer ready. At first, this approach made me feel more vulnerable, but overtime I’ve realized that letting people see the imperfect reality can be very helpful, and really enables me to get feedback early and make adjustments accordingly.

The most important lesson for me has been learning how to choose to free my mind. I find that with all of the art that I’ve released, whether it be a song, a video, or even a photograph, I would overthink and over analyze myself to the ground. I was held down by my own insecurities and irrational feelings of how it would be perceived, especially by those who knew me or have met me personally. I had a talk with a close friend once about the difficulty of releasing myself as is, unapologetically and without caution. It was a talk that nearly brought me to tears to be honest, and somehow it really stuck with me that I couldn’t keep playing it safe or consider anyone else’s opinions when it comes to the art that I create. I found that one of the biggest ways I was able to break those chains was by starting out with just being brave enough to do something as simple as hitting that “share” button and letting another piece of myself enter the world, and just live… Again, unapologetically and without caution. And once it was released, and living, and breathing, and a real part of this earth, that’s when I started feeling the most growth and the most freedom I had ever felt. Learning to allow myself to live outside of my head as much as I live inside of my head has pushed me to heights I had only fantasized about before. This past year has been the toughest year of my life, mentally, emotionally, and physically; but it’s also been the year I’ve created the pieces of art that I’m most proud of.

The quality of building real connections and not worrying about reaching certain metrics is a valuable lesson we have learned. Remembering the reason we started this project, and the passion we both share for food, will always be what keeps us aligned to our mission. We believe that food is a unique device to unite people. We seek to explore and share different dishes from all cuisines, understand the history of meals we eat everyday, and learn how food relates to the story of who we are today.

When a client comes to me, they are typically stressed and overwhelmed by their clutter. It takes time and energy for us to work through decluttering as well as them developing new habits for the future. My most important lesson so far has been the realization of how good I feel when I see my clients feel so much less stressed and overwhelmed. When we finish a decluttering project, it’s like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders and I can see how much relief they have from when we started. I share their sense of accomplishment and it amazes me how much happiness I feel for them.

The most important lesson we’ve learned in our journey is to always be honest about our ratings. When we started our Instagram page, it was only meant to be shared with a few friends. However, once it started taking off and we realized our followers are depending on us to point them to some of the best food in Dallas, we made it a priority to be completely transparent while putting a creative spin with our captions and Belly Meter to cater to our audience!

This is a toss up for me. There are two things I find myself saying out loud or just to myself every single day. Failure is always an option. When I fail I have an option to see the good or the option to see the bad and to do something or do nothing at all, I let those failures keep me going, I let those failures shape my success and see them as opportunities to grow, open new doors, So I pick myself up and try again. Wasn’t always this way, I was tired of it all, gave up on myself, everything and everybody, I felt drained, I planned, researched for days, study everything, had notebooks with pages of notes. never saw a well planned out research idea happen for years. And to be honest I still haven’t. But its all about determination. Last year failure could’ve taken my life, but I chose to commit my life to God. He designed a path for me to be an entrepreneur, and I know with every fiber of my being, I am. This year, I have launched my company website PriscillasPalace.com, Purchased my dream car, and now I am being featured in a magazine, Life is not always about the success but failing and doing better. I have learned to let my light shine, to be a role model, and that this life is full of opportunities designed for failure that make life exciting and worth fighting. I still put in the same amount of work if not more, only this time I use my downfall as my fuel. The most important lesson, I learned is to not give up on my self, put God first remind myself that failure is my choice to make. If I fail I can stay in the mindset of failure or I can take all my knowledge from failing and turn it into a multi billion-dollar company. Which I don’t know about you but only one of those sound good to me, so choose to fight. “let your passion out way your pain” – TD JAKES

Time doesn’t heal all wounds and sometimes life forces you to rediscover yourself. It is uncomfortable, scary, and often a frustrating journey. However, the only one standing in your way is you. You can choose to give up or choose to take your wounds and move forward with them. It requires you to be brave and to learn how to drown out the “excess noise” that’s in your life. The only peace we need to seek is that from the Lord and the peace from being honest with ourselves.

I am not meant to be everybody’s cup of tea. I am my own very special unique flavor and it’s not up to me who likes it and who doesn’t get it. It is up to me to show gratitude to those that like my flavor, appreciate my style and pour into me. That’s how you stay determined to keep going.

To never get too attached to a season in my life because it is only temporary. Every season serves its purpose and is only preparing you for your succeeding one. So I now focus on finding the lesson in it, then learn and grow from it! Life is all about growth and change. Once I stopped asking God “Why is this happening to me?” and started asking myself “What is God trying to teach me here?” it changed everything! Things don’t happen TO you, they happen FOR you and in order for your situation to change, you need to change! It’s like one of my favorite speakers says “don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better”. (Jim Rohn) So now I seek opportunity for growth in those tough seasons because I know it’s only preparation for the next one!

Most important lesson that I’ve learned is that failure is a part of the journey and we shouldn’t try to avoid it or be afraid of failure. We should expect and embrace that failure will eventually lead us to our end goal, in fact every failure is teaching us how to do better next time. Don’t let the possibility of failure hold you back from chasing your goals and the life of your dreams!

The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is to really stay grounded in your purpose, and to never compromise who you are for anything or anybody . The main reason I’m doing what I’m doing is to show females that you can reach a high level of recognition and success by simply staying true to who God has created you to be , without compromising your morals or devaluing yourself as a person. I have been tempted the same way, but I always have to remember who God created me to be .

The most important lesson I’ve learned during this journey is that failure is absolutely necessary. Failure increased my passion and created that extra push to not give up. There are times that I still want to give up, but then I tell myself failure is not a step backwards. Failure is the greatest lesson, and it is imperative that we endure such pain to be able to strive for greatness. With out failure I wouldn’t be able to educate others on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Accepting that everybody’s story is not going to mirror ours and that’s okay. There’s always something to learn. What we love about our show is that all of our guests are organic. We don’t know them, we don’t know their stories and we’re hearing what they have to say for the first time with our listeners. A lot of them truly surprise us. 10 years ago my advice was always aligned with “never cross oceans for someone or something that wouldn’t cross a puddle for you.” But now, at 30’ish, I first and foremost realize I’m not at all worthy or experienced enough of giving advice via nature illustrations!! Secondly, my mentality has switched. Now if someone asks, my question back to them is always, “why wouldn’t you? Do it. Cross oceans, climb mountains. Without conditions or expectations.” Because when you do things in love, whether it be people, work or your your circumstances without setting a bar of expectations you find contentment. You find the ability to be thankful for the praiseworthy moments when they do happen and you should celebrate. Otherwise you will miss it all. It’s exhausting living your life based on conditions. And honestly when you realize how liberating it is to love yourself and others without perimeters, the second part of your life begins.
But I probably read that from a Wheaties box or an Oprah magazine so don’t quote me on that! ✌🏻

When I first thought to create Fully Developed, I was at a point in life that we all have to face: What am I going to do with my life? Starting the podcast in March, the vision I had for where we’d be today is a little off from my reality & honestly that’s the beauty of it. When you decide to create something of your own, you seldom think of the obstacles that you’re going to face. I wasn’t thinking of the times when money would be low, when creating content didn’t flow as well as other days or when plans you have for your vision just isn’t what pans out. Some things aren’t always in our control and the ability to accept that and move forward in the best way that I can is the biggest lesson I’ve learned thus far in this journey. After accepting this truth (which happened very recently) I’m excited to see where Fully Developed will go and the growth in each and every perspective that comes on the show.

My journey has been tough, as most will agree but it hasn’t ended. So the most important lesson that I have learned and still struggle to embrace today is to not give up. This journey has its ups and downs and what seems like detours or even dead ends but what I’ve started learning and picking up on is that they are nothing that can actually stop me. Often the detours lead me to something new, something I had not previously thought about or even considered and all those new things including the dead ends have shown me that I’m in charge of how far I go. It’s just a matter of whether I am willing to keep going or stop, and stopping is just not an option.

I used to be afraid. I used to be afraid of failing and afraid of what others thought of me. I used to be afraid to speak or to even ask\demand for my wants and needs. My fear prevented me from being the best I can be for myself and it put limits on my freedom as an artist. One day I heard someone say that shyness was a fear or expressing yourself. After hearing this my journey changed forever. Finding my voice and learning to dream without fear is the most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey thus far. I know that fear is not a feeling from God so what is the opposite of fear? I know that through God I inherit whatever my heart desires, so why am I not where I desire to be? The only thing that was keeping me from my destiny was fear of the unknown. It’s was not easy to let go of fear, but once I did I was able to dream without restrictions. I now choose to take a leap of faith every time. I am fully committed to the uncomfortable feeling of growth and I have no limits.

To believe in myself wholeheartedly and trust patience is the key to it all. Almost a decade of doing what I love has taught me to always take the risk. For years I held back on fears of not being good enough or being rejected. When I finally let go of all those insecurities I found a new love for the reason I even started my own business. I did it to make others feel beautiful about themselves the way I do when I color my hair or put a little lipstick on. I see beauty in everything and everyone. Sometimes I feel it just takes the right stylist to bring that out in someone. Seeing is believing and when I turn my clients around in my chair and I see those smiles and eyes light up , That’s It’s! That’s the joy, the love, the reason I do it all. It just took coming out of my own comfort zone and believing everything is in god hands to be able to have the success I do now. Patience is a hard lesson to learn for anyone, loving myself and believing I could accomplish anything I set my mind to in my own time is the key to my own success.

There are many things that I have learned and still learning, in a world we’re everything is “help me and I will help you” you kind of fall into a pattern of let me see how much I can get out of the situation. I have other colleagues that do the same thing and they always advise me pick your prices higher don’t sell yourself short, its never enough it’s always to low! They tell me. I learned that when you start doing something you love and greed gets in the way, it’s stops being something you love it becomes WORK and the reason I started my own small business was precisely because I did not want to work a job that made me feel prisoner of my life. And when greed comes into play that’s exactly what happens you become prisoner of money of greed and everything that involves. Don’t get me wrong of course i want to make money. I am a mother of four and I need to bring the bacon but being honest. Now three years in this business I have learned how to price, how to help my customers and be smart about my business. Transplanted Treasure From 17th Century Is This Week’s Most Popular Home
realtor.com
A Colonial home built in New England in 1697 that now sits in the unlikely locale of Medina, OH, is the week’s most popular home on realtor.com®.
How in the heck did a home built in Plympton, MA, in the 17th century wind up for sale in northern Ohio? The current owner, Craig Staufer, explained the backstory of the $525,000 home to a local news outlet.
“My mother gave my father a choice: We either move to New England to an authentic, old Colonial house, or we stay here and the house comes here,” Staufer told WKYC. “He chose the latter.”
Fueled by her passion for Colonial antiques, Staufer’s mom had this house brought to her in Ohio—board by board, brick by brick—and had it reassembled on the 13-acre lot, where it has stood since the 1970s. Thanks to her efforts, the history within those walls has been preserved for future generations.
“Underneath the one stairway, there’s actually a hiding place, a false door where they hid during the French and Indian War,” Staufer says.
Besides the chance to live in a transplanted treasure, the rest of this week’s most popular homes include a New Jersey home once owned by Philadelphia Flyers hockey legend Bobby Clarke, the sprawling mansion where a missing mom, Jennifer Dulos, and her estranged husband, Fotis, once lived with their children, and a Texas-sized estate with its own water park.

Wish You Lived in a ‘Game of Thrones’-Style Castle? Buy One Right Here
realtor.com
“Game of Thrones” fans are frothing at the mouth as they await the eighth—and final—season, which premieres Sunday on HBO. Will Daenerys Targaryen, aka Mother of Dragons, finally reclaim the Iron Throne with the help of Jon Snow? Or will Cersei Lannister maintain her claw hold on this seat of power by outconniving them all? And what’s the deal with that ice zombie dragon?
While many will tune in to watch the drama unfold, we here at realtor.com felt we should shift the spotlight for a moment and applaud a whole different cast of stars: the stunning homes where the warring royals live.
If you’ve ever opined “man, I wish I could live in a castle,” we’d like to point out that it’s entirely possible! Castles exist right here on U.S. soil, and while they might not be quite as majestic (or blood-drenched, thankfully) as Casterly Rock or the Red Keep, they’re still pretty darn posh.
So in honor of the greatest TV show of all time, we’ve plundered our listings to come up with the real-life regal residences you can actually buy—or fight for if that’s your thing.
Hold the door!
3716 North White Chapel Boulevard, Southlake, TX
Price: Concierge Auction bid starting at $2.5 million
Why it gets our seven blessings: Have a taste for turrets? The storybook facade of this 2007-built castle should suit anyone with royal aspirations, as it blends old-world enchantment with modern luxury. Previously listed at $3.5 million, this 19,673-square-foot manse with eight bedrooms and 12 baths will accommodate the entire extended family and a coterie of courtiers. Perhaps a good place to host a wedding? Not of the red variety, of course.
An American castle in the Dallas–Fort Worth area
realtor.com
———
33300 Highway 157, Menlo, GA 30731
Price: $999,998
Why it gets our seven blessings: This castle may not be complete yet, but it comes with its own kingdom—242.5 acres, to be exact. And at just under a $1 million, it hardly costs a king’s ransom. Located on wooded land on the East Fork of the Little River, the property is also host to a spring-fed lake and waterfall. The castle itself was designed with 30 bedrooms,15 baths, and a dungeon (time to go dragon shopping). There’s also plenty of space for a grand ballroom, wedding chapel, banquet hall, and just about anything else your subjects could desire.
Massive, unfinished Georgia castle
realtor.com
———
722 39th St, Downers Grove, IL
Price: $1,800,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: Fit for a king and queen, this medieval castle–style home with a private gated entrance was built in 1952, but its interior has been updated to include every amenity to please even the pickiest members of the royal family: an indoor pool, grand gala accommodations for more than 60 people, and impeccably landscaped, 1.87-acre grounds. All this, and it’s appraised for over $2.6 million. Talk about a royal flush!
Modern American castle in Illinois
realtor.com
———
4720 Grosvenor Ave, Bronx, NY
Price: $3,200,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: You could be the king (or queen) of New York in this fully renovated replica of a 16th-century European castle, complete with thick walls of imported stone and a regal turret. It was built in the mid-1920s for an Italian shipbuilder to remind him of home. Even though it looks like it’s been standing for centuries, it features air conditioning, a Bose sound system, four flat-screen, HD televisions, and new lighting. Which “Game of Thrones” family would be such early tech adopters? Our money’s on the Lannisters. (And best of all, they always pay their debts.)
A castle in the Bronx
realtor.com
———
1023 Lake of the Woods Ln, Bigfork, MT
Price: $1,550,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: Talk about the Many-Faced Home! Mayan meets medieval in Montana! Known far and wide as the Castle on the Lake, this four-bedroom, four-bath home even has a faux drawbridge, and comes with over 15 acres—some of them lakefront. You’d never guess it was built as recently as 1998, with its two-story stone fireplace, secret passageways, and reclaimed wood beams overhead. While it appears to be in the middle of an enchanted forest, it’s actually not far from Kalispell, Glacier National Park, and the quaint resort town of Big Fork.
A castle in Montana
realtor.com
———
125 Sky Castle Dr, Clever, MO
Price: $680,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: Tapestries, suits of armor, thick stone walls, battlements—even gargoyles! Within its 4,922 square feet there are four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and an unfinished dungeon (er, basement) that could be used as a wine cellar, storm shelter, or makeshift holding cell for misbehaving guests. And the property also has a private zip line for pulse-racing escapes.
Missouri castle
realtor.com
———
6008 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN
Price: $1,890,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: This home fit for country music royalty was built in 1967, but the five-bedroom, six-bath interior has been completely renovated so the entire royal family can be comfortably accommodated. Nestled on 2.45 acres, the home has plenty of room for jousting. And of course there’s a full wet bar, perfect for Tyrion to knock back a few.
Nashville castle
realtor.com
———
14125 NW Germantown Rd, Portland, OR
Price: $4 million
Why it gets our seven blessings: A one-of-a-kind Portland icon known as Blackberry Castle, this one has a royal courtyard to die for! It sits on 6 acres and has a vineyard and an underground wine cellar to store the libations wrought from the fruit of its own vines. Potential Rapunzel suitors will appreciate the fabulously equipped home gym with the climbing wall, and the princess in all of us will be well pleased with the two-story turret library, the European village–style atrium bar, and the home spa with sauna.
Portland area castle
realtor.com
———
39 Bradford Rd, Scarsdale
Price: $1,695,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: If everyone in Westeros weren’t so darn intent on vying for the Iron Throne, they could be perfectly content in this lovely Tudor, originally built in 1928 and completely updated inside and out. Stately flagstones add to its castle-like exterior, while a spacious new kitchen, a sparkling sunroom, and an enchanting master suite give the lord and lady of the manor some much-deserved pampering.
Scarsdale Tudor palace
realtor.com
———
7525 S Highway A1a, Melbourne, FL
Price: $3,250,000
Why it gets our seven blessings: Only in Florida will you find a terra-cotta-colored sandcastle right on the beach. It was custom-built by a prominent brewmaster, which could explain the beer can turret motif, and the lighted copper dome over the circular bar that looks suspiciously like the top of an ale-brewing vat. As all the best castles are, this one is a bit of a landmark on Melbourne Beach. One of its more charming features is a rooftop deck from where you can stargaze and watch the flaming catapults fire, or rather the rockets launch, from Cape Canaveral.

Fit for a king, the spread includes a large living room with floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace, casual and formal dining areas, hand-painted murals created by a local artist, and a well-appointed kitchen. The master suite offers a private deck, plus there’s an office, a home theater with a bar, and a sauna.
Asked why he built the magnificent palace, Lankinen said, “Because I could. It’s my personal home. I’m a builder. I’ve been building homes for 45 years already. I just wanted to build something unique.” Mission totally accomplished!
The home builder says he’s ready to move on to his next project and create another custom-built home. Can he top a castle?
