Hi there,

I recently discovered your blog, and let me say that I love the slice of life headcannons you've come up with for the Jade Palace family. This is coming from someone who has a slice of life one-shot collection planned for KFP surrounding the Jade Palace family, and I can't wait to work on it whenever I can, I have two in progress by the way.

(Let me say that I've always imagined that Po most likely did experience some bullying as a cub, as demonstrated by the first movie when 1. When we see how much the Five's depreciating comments had affected them, and 2. how he commented to Master Shifu that all of the pain he endured at the Jade Palace could never compare to the pain he felt to that of simply just being himself every day. Plus, we find out that he "eats when he's upset." He indeed has a loving father, bit it's only natural for one to want friends thier own age.)

Anyway, I'm kind of curious on your take on a scenario where perhaps the Five found out about Po bringing them together unintentionally. How would that play out? I'm pretty sure Master Shifu won't be pleased when he finds out that Po was the one that unintentionally food poisoned him with soup. It's secrets of the scroll.

Po was indeed bullied as a cub. As we see in the first movie, when he was the waiter for his dad, villagers were way too mean to Po. Also we don't see him interact with anyone else besides his dad before he was the dragon warrior. He was indeed  kind of a depressed, trying to feel a little bit better by food, trying to forget the possible pain he had.

Anyway, I thought about that possible scenario before. I always imagined five wouldn't react that much after a brief shock and amusement. Probably lots of laughter from Mantis and Monkey duo, since Mantis was the fake doctor that time and was only summoned to recover Shifu. Tigress would be probably impressed once again, even though she would not openly show it. She would understand once again that Po is their lovable dragon warrior and was destined to be there from beginning. I think Shifu would be the one to react most. His master was right again, and the dragon warrior, who he despised before was the one who accidently created the legendary furious five. I can imagine Shifu staying awake all night and thinking this all over in his head, meditating and thanking his master over again for blessing him with such wisdom. And about the food poisoning thing, Po might have to do a little more training exercise as a punishment. Poisoning a kung fu master is not a little thing to do 😄

Since he has never been the biggest fan of being a voice actor do you think its possible shifu will die/ascend in the fourth movie ? He's a great character but his time/role in the franchise is probably over with

As a hardcore Shifu fan, I don't endorse that. Fans should be free to discuss and theorise about something like this however they please without receiving harassment for it!)

I think it may be a bit too early to speculate too much at this stage and we'll have to wait until we get more information about the upcoming movie first - if only because we don't currently have any clear picture on what kind of direction the next movie is going to take yet, which has a huge influence on the odds.

I think it's definitely possible though! A lot of people, including myself, feel like it seems to be a bit of an "obvious" choice storywise. But the "obvious" choice might not be the one that DreamWorks decides to go with...

But if he did die/ascend, if it's like how Oogway died and he simply goes to the Spirit Realm (assuming it's not a different kind of more permanent death) then it would kind of be like the equivalent of retirement, wouldn't it? I talked about this on discord...

I'm not sure how much influence Hoffman would really have though (or if he will cave in to sign on to kfp4 in the first place, hahaha)

If Shifu did get sent to the Spirit Realm, it would be nice if we still got to see him chilling there after the ascension or w/e. But that may just be my bias showing :P
