A bare basis for my captain Crossbone Gundam: the Crossbone Gundam XM-X王 in prototype form!
It's a bit back-heavy, but I plan on adding a Full Cloth fit made with miniature fin funnels.

MG XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam Full Cloth is (mostly) done, just need to finish the weapons up. Before i started on the full cloth, I didn't quite understand all the negative reviews about this kit, it felt pretty strong, but with the added weight of the cloak it definitely started to seem to struggle more. Still very happy i got him though, he does look *very* cool

Title: Cuteness Member - Flapjack
As they say, "A Pirate is life for me!". Whether you're at the seven seas on earth or the solar system from the space atmosphere. 🏴‍☠️🌎🌌 And the latter was Flapjack 🧒⚓ travels through space and enrolls to the "Cuteness Defender Academy" and later a highly-skilled pirate crew known as the "Crossbone Vanguard" army (after a hard work of being an ensign). As of 2024, Flapjack still holds two "Cuteness Mecha Armors" from the aforementioned "Crossbone Vanguard"; the armored "Crossbone X-3", and the "Crossbone X-1 Kai Kai "Skull Heart / Full Cloth". 🙂🤖🤖
Crossbone Flapjack X-3 Based on: XM-X3 Crossbone Gundam X-3 [CLICK ME!]
Armament(s):
Vulcan Gun (Optional) • These head mounted shell firing weapons have a high rate of fire, but little power and are generally ineffective against "CMA" suits. However, they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors, and are ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
Mega Machine Cannon • The armored "Crossbone X-3" is equipped with a pair of mega machine cannons in its chest and they are stronger than the vulcan guns.
Beam Saber • The beam saber is the standard close-combat weapon of many "CMA" suits, it emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-field that can cut through any physical armor not treated to resist it. The armored "Crossbone" is equipped with two beam sabers stored in shoulder racks. They also serve as the beam guns for the drone fighter.
Heat Dagger • An alternative close combat weapon, the heat dagger is unlike most heat weapons as its blade is heated using leftover heat from the leg's thrusters. The heated blade can melt the enemies armor on contact. The heat daggers are stored in the legs, one in each calf. Normally, it is handheld when in use, but it can also slide out of the sole as a surprise attack.
Scissor Anchor • Each "Crossbone" armor is equipped with a pair of scissor anchors stored on the front skirt armor. These anchors are attached to the "CMA" by long chains and use scissor claws to grip objects. While these are not offense weapons per-say, they provide several uses in combat. They can be used to grip the limb of an enemy machine to ensnare it, or to reel it closer to the "Crossbone" armor for melee combat. They can also be used to turn ensnared "CMA" suits into bludgeoning weapons by pulling on the chain. The scissor anchors can also be used to stabilize the Gundam's footing in case of emergencies, such as when fighting the wind force of an explosion.
Beam Shield/Brand Marker • Like its brother units, the X-3 could be equipped with the beam shield/brand marker unique to the "Crossbone" armors, mounting them over the I-Field generators. However, these were never equipped to the X-3 before its first sortie, after which it was never properly resupplied with fresh weapons.
Muramasa Blaster The Muramasa Blaster is a unique weapon exclusive to the model armorr "XM-X3" "Crossbone X-3". It resembles a straight rapier with a gun handle in the guard and with a skull and crossbones painted on the sides. The weapon is quite large, at least half the length of the X-3's height if not longer. It mounts a total of 15 beam emitters, one beam gun on the tip of the sword that can also emit a beam saber and 14 beam blade emitters that line the sides, making it usable for both long and short range combat. Unfortunately, the Muramasa Blaster is a prototype weapon and because of its power intensive nature, it can only be used for a limited operational period. When not in use, the weapon is stored on the left side armor.
Beam Gun ◘ The Muramasa Blaster mounts a single beam gun on its tip, allowing it to be used for ranged combat.
Beam Saber ◘ The Muramasa Blaster mounts 14 wide beam saber emitters along its sides, 7 to each side. The sabers emitted are quite short but are wider than average, giving the Muramasa Blaster an appearance similar to a sawed-tooth weapon.
Beam Zanber • The beam zanber is a high power beam saber and is the primary weapon of the "Crossbone" armor. The hilt of the beam zanber is modeled after that of a traditional pirate cutlass, as does the beam blade when it is formed, and is stored on the left side armor when not in use. The power of the beam zanber is significantly higher than that of ordinary beam sabers, such that it is easy for the armored "Crossbone" to overpower an enemy in melee combat or even "cut" through the beam of an ordinary beam saber. Behind the guard of the beam zanber is a gun handle that is used in the zanbuster configuration.
Buster Gun • The buster gun is the primary ranged weapon of the "Crossbone" armor. This beam pistol is modeled after a flintlock pistol and is typically used with only one of the "CMA" suit's hands, leaving the second hand free to use a melee weapon. Stored on the right side armor when not in use the buster gun can combine with the beam zanber to form the zanbuster.
Zanbuster ◘ A beam rifle formed from the combination of the beam zanber and the buster gun, the beam it fires is stronger than those of the buster gun. In this configuration, the butt of the buster gun is connected to the beam emitter of the beam zanber. When a grenade is attached to the Zanbuster's emitter, it can also function as a single shot grenade launcher.
Rifle Grenade ◘ The rifle grenade is a high yield explosive that can be attached to the beam emitter of the zanbuster. Typically not used against opponent "CMA" suits, the rifle grenade was used to intercept a nuclear missile that was targeting the Mother Vanguard.
Atomic Shell ◘ An alternative weapon that can be fitted to the beam emitter of the zanbuster, it is fired in the same manner as the rifle grenade.
Special Equipment & Feature(s):
Dummy Launcher • Thanks to Minovsky particle interference, warfare in the Universal Century era relies heavily on visual sensors, which can be tricked by inflatable decoys that mimic "CMA" suits, asteroids, and even warships. More sophisticated varieties are equipped with small maneuvering verniers, allowing them to move in a realistic manner and register on infra-red sensors. The dummy launchers mounted in the XM-X3's hands can deploy several dummies in the shape and color of the "CMA" suit. With these dummies, the "CMA" suits can confuse an enemy long enough to get close to use its weapons.
○ Special Weapons Targeting Sensor
I-Field Generator • A unique feature of the armored "Crossbone X-3" is its pair of I-field generators, one mounted in each arm. The I-field is generated around the hand and can bend any beam, whether it is from a beam rifle or a beam saber, and can even protect the X-3 from a high-energy cannon from close range. Despite being far more advanced than any previous I-field generator, the units mounted on the X-3 still suffer from overheating problems. Each generator can only be used for a total of 105 seconds and require 120 seconds to cool down. If the X-3 is not equipped with a beam shield, this leaves a window of 15 seconds where it has no defense against attacks. Also, the I-field cannot protect against physical weapons.
Anti-Beam Coating Cloak • As with other Crossbone Vanguard "CMA" suits used, the X-3 could be equipped with a cloth cloak that had been treated with an anti-beam coating. Functioning similar to the old physical shields that had received the same treatment, the cloak was used to protect the "CMA" suit from beam shots. With its size it could completely cover the "CMA" suit, with the exception of the head, providing full body protection. However, despite its advantages, one of which is conserving power, the cloak has two disadvantages. First, unlike a beam shield the cloak can only handle about 5 shots before the coating wears off, rendering the cloak to simple cloth. The second disadvantage is that the cloak offers no protection from physical weapons.
Heat Radiation Face Open (optional) • Like its brother units the X-3 can temporarily "Open Face" to release Heat and increase performance. This allows the X-3 to perform otherwise extremely demanding maneuvers or attacks that would normally be considered impossible.
○ Booster
Crossbone Flapjack X-1 "Full Cloth" (Kai Kai "Skull Heart") Based on: XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai Kai "Skull Heart" [CLICK ME!]
Armament(s):
*Same armaments as his armored "Crossbone X-3" from "Vulcan Gun (Optional)" to "Atomic Shell"*
Peacock Smasher • This crossbow-like weapon mounts nine separate beam guns which can be fired in any arrangement, but simultaneous use drains its energy and requires the replacement of the barrel parts.
Special Equipment & Feature(s):
○ Special Weapons Targeting Sensor ○ Bio-Computer ○ Anti-Beam Coating Cloak ○ Heat Radiation Face Open (Optional)

There are just a few too many of these suits to put in one post so I’m just gonna highlight 2, but god I love the crossbone gundams so much
Like look at the crossbone gundam full cloth and it’s massive ass skull shoulders
Tumblr media
Also there’s not a picture on the wiki of it doing it, but know that it can take the skulls off and use them as fuck off huge boxing gloves
Then there’s the X-0, which I think is the sexiest base crossbone because 1 it’s shiny silver and red, 2 it has the stylish two tone V-fin the X-3 and 3, it had the most killer weapon selection (not pictured for space reasons but trust me they fucking RULE)

I hear you like building Gundams. So ... what if Team RWBY built custom Gundam models?
//Okay, I spent a while on this. Well if this is going to be a thing (I hope this’ll be a thing), Blake and Weiss would be the ones to get their team mates in on it. Blake due to her being an otaku who got really into mech anime’s. Weiss being the first to actually discover how much fun it is building gunpla.//
“So you’re telling me there’s an anime about these?” Weiss asked, her eyes wide while she pointed to the 1/144th scale RG 00 Raiser she was holding in her arms.
Blake nodded while grabbing Weiss’ arm, leading her to their teams dorm room. The cat Faunus was sure that her white haired team mate was going to love this.
And love it Weiss did. The two had gone through All  of the build series in one weekend. Blake, loving the fact that in the Build series all the Gundam series were popular anime’s. Weiss on the other hand, upon finishing Build Divers had grabbed her scroll, and ordered as many of the kits as she possibly could.
Upon returning to Beacon, after having spend the weekend in Patch with their father, Ruby and Yang were in for a big surprise.
“Uh,Weiss...?” Yang asked, cautiously eyeing all the boxes lining Team RWBY’s dorm room. Only Weiss had the funds to purchase all of ... whatever these were.
Weiss at least had the decency to look embarrassed. “Okay, I went really overboard. But I thought it could be a good team bonding exercise...?”
Ruby, who might not have been as big of an otaku as Blake, was going crazy over all of the models. Like Weiss, she too loved building gunpla, and experimenting with putting together different kits and seeing how well they worked together.
“See, Ruby’s taking to it~” Weiss smiled, while gesturing to her team leader ... who was pulling different boxes down into her arms.
“I’ve got SO many ideas!” The reaper practically squealed. Using her semblance, Ruby zipped about the room, taking down different boxes, and placing them not only in Yang’s arms, but in Blake’s as well.
“Here Yang!” Ruby had placed an HG God Gundam, and an HG Nobel Gundam box in her elder sisters hands.
“Blake here! You’ll love this!” Ruby squealed, zipping past Blake with her semblance, and depositing an HG 00 Shia Quan[T].
Blake’s cat ears perked up. She was both excited and upset with herself. Exited that this particular kit had cat ears, and upset that she had somehow not noticed that little detail during her countless rewatches of Build Fighters Island Wars.
“Alright!” Ruby declared, after placing an HG Knight Gundam and an HG Rose Gundam into Weiss’ arms. “Weiss is right! This is gonna be a team building exercise!”
Weiss gasped in surprise. She knew just what Ruby had planned for the team. “Y-yeah! We’re making our own Gundams!”
Throughout the next week, during any down time that Team RWBY had, the four were working on making their own custom kitbash gundams. Weiss and Ruby who had the most experience in building with the models, and were more than happy to help Blake and Yang. Detailing how to properly remove the needed parts from the runners, sanding down the nub marks, how to properly place in the stickers and decals from the sheets.
By the end of that week. each of Team RWBYs models were fully complete.
Ruby had used HG the Astraea F-Type for a base, using the skirt from the Nobel Gundam, the cloak from the Crossbone Gundam Full Cloth, and the Scythe from the Death Scythe Hell.
Ruby had decided to call her own kit the Red Reaper. Yes, she had modeled the kit after herself, though it appeared she wasn’t the only one.
Weiss’ gundam also resembled her appearance. She too had used the Skirt from the Nobel Gundam. Actually, she had used the entire lower half of the Nobel, except for the feet. Those had been swapped for those of the Amazing Exia Dark Matter. For the upper half she had used the Rose Gundam minus the shoulder cloak it came with. For the head unit, Weiss had opted to go with the head of the Amazing Exia. Weapon-wise, it had taken a bit of extra work, but Weiss had finally gotten the rapier of the Rose to look like her own rapier.
But Weiss wasn’t done there. Using the Knight Gundam, she had also built herself a replica of her Gigas summon. Both kits had been panel lined, and of course, it had all been painted to match her outfit. And gotten a topcoat spray for that added touch. Once finally completed, Weiss stood back to admire her Heiress Gundam.
Yang being a relative novice, had only gone with the two kits that her little sister had given her. Like Weiss, she had used the entirety of the Nobel, but had used the upper half of the God Gundam, except for the head, as she liked the blonde hair piece that the Nobel came with.
With Weiss’ help, Blake had the whole thing painted to match her normal outfit. The gauntlets had gotten a nice gold paint job, whereas the rest of Yang’s model kit resembled her biker-like attire. though Yang had some more upgrades planned in the future, she was going to wait until she was more confident in her building. But all in all, she was rather proud of her creation, she had decided to call the Gold striker.
Blake had done a strait buildup of her Shia Quan[T]. She had made sure it was painted to match her color scheme, but had made some addition weapon wise. she had taking the katana of the Astray Red frame, a GN pistol from the Cherrudinum Gundam, and the beam whip from the Nobel. That took more work than Blake wanted to admit, but she had created a perfect replica of Gambol Shroud.
Yes it was a relatively simple build, but Blake was rather proud of her Black Cat Gundam.

Let’s GunPla with Erkz! (Crossbone Gundam X1 Full Cloth Type.GBFT)
Tumblr media
Hahahaha, wow. Okay. So, last year, around June/July or thereabouts, I went to a local anime convention because a bunch of my friends were going and we don’t get the chance to meet up that often. To my utter surprise, there was a GunPla booth. The gunpla was horribly overpriced, the selection variety was nothing to write home about, but in a place where apparently no-one likes Gundam that much, seeing that made me want to support them. So I paid like... quadruple the regular price for the only kit that I kinda liked, brought the box home, put it on a shelf and left it there for it to collect dust. Fast forward to today, 10ish months later, and I’m home for the Easter weekend with nothing to do. “WHY NOT BUILD THAT ONE GUNPLA?” I asked myself, and grabbed my tools and opened the box.
Tools: ☆ 1x Crossbone Gundam X1 Full Cloth Type.GBFT ☆ Craft Knife ☆ Nippers ☆ Sandpaper ☆ Bamboo Mat ☆ Markers ☆ Manual You know, the usual tools.
LET’S BUILDING!
Tumblr media
Section 1 - Body
So, technically, the body only took two steps to build. Those two steps probably took like... two hours. Why, I hear you not asking because you know I’m going to tell you anyway?
Seals.
These first two steps involved putting ten seals on the various parts. Ten seals. In the first two steps. Now, I’m not going to start ranting about seals now. I’ll save that for later, because it’s one of my biggest complaints with this kit.
So I’ll talk about the materials instead.
The blue is a very nice navy that looks dark enough to almost be black at a first glance and it’s great. The white however, is a very strange, pearlescent white. I don’t quite understand why it’s not grey or flat white, but it’s... interesting I guess. Maybe they were going for a polished bone-like finish?
Also so far, aside from the popped collar bits and the two things hanging off the front, this torso is a very standard build.
Tumblr media
Section 2 - Head
At this point I remembered that I should panel line as I go along because I probably won’t have the motivation to do that when I’m done. Also that skull, that tiny molded skull and crossbones on the top of the head is probably one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. It is so tiny yet so detailed and I love it.
Tumblr media
Section 3 - Arm
Ah yes, the manual calls these ‘Arm’ again for whatever reason. Nothing special here really.
Tumblr media
Section 4 - Right Arm
A very standard gundam arm albeit with one little gimmick. That flat, white piece on the lower are is on a hinge and can open. Neat. Also I really like the use of color contrast on this kit so far.
Tumblr media
Section 5 - Left Arm
Yes. That is a picture of the body. Building the left arm is a mirrored version of the right arm. This is also the final step of the left arm section, so I’m not cheating. ‘3′
So far so good.
Tumblr media
Section 7 - Right Leg
I skipped section 6 because it’s literally just popping a ball joint into the red part of the foot. It’s also just called ‘Leg’ like the shoulders are called ‘Arm’.
Anyway, it’s a leg. A neat little tidbit is that the yellow part on the leg is a molded piece that’s inserted from inside the leg. It’s nice. The black part above it? A seal. Not so nice.
Tumblr media
Section 9 - Waist
Skipped section 8 because the left leg is, again, a mirrored version of the opposite limb. The waist is... well, a waist. The sideskirts are nice in that they’re held on with hinging polycaps instead of ball joints, but that’s about it.
Tumblr media
And here he is, limbs all snapped together. Very lanky in my opinion, but the next few parts will fix that.
Tumblr media
Section Whatever - Shoulders
Oh hey, this section was actually called Shoulders. Even though they are more like pauldrons or something. It’s neat, I guess. You make two of these.
Tumblr media
And bam. Aside from weapons, he’s pretty much done.
So yeah. Crossbone done. It comes with a stupid amount of weapons and it is 5am and I do not ever plan to build more than the PEACOCK BLASTER (Crossbow) and the MURAMASA BLASTER (Christmas Tree Sword).
In the end, it is a very nice looking kit. However...
It’s rant time.
Notice how I didn’t really keep a count of seals or anything like I normally do? Well that’s because of this:
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS MONSTROSITY OF A SEAL SHEET.
The numbers go up to 49, but there are multiples of quite a few of those seals so the number is probably 60+
60+ Seals. And it’s not like they’re just flat seals or anything? Oh no, these are the types of seals that you have to fold around edges and corners.
This kit comes with FOURTEEN runners. There is a runner in every single one of those colors except green.
Just mold the damned pieces, Bandai!
The absolute worst part, is that on top of being time consuming, there are times where you have to stick some seals on top of other seals. I can’t even. I have no idea what whoever designed this kit was thinking. I guess it’s a retool of sorts but come on. I literally stopped building this kit multiple times out of frustration with the seals and went to watch anime or something. In terms of aggregate build time, this thing took roughly 10 or more hours to build. I stopped counting because it is 5am.
All because of the damned seals.
And we haven’t even gotten onto the articulation yet. By itself, the kit is fine. But with the “Full Cloth” unit equipped, it’s articulation drops to laughable levels. They’re attached with balljoints, so you’d think they’d have some degree of free motion, right? Nope, they just rotate like clock hands. And moving anything makes them bump into other limbs. It is kind of infuriating to do anything with.
Ranting aside, I really do like how it looks. It is a really appealing kit. And the christmas tree sword is amazingly silly.
Tumblr media
6/10 welcome to seal hell, with your guide - Bandai!
