San Cristobal Island - 3 Days Adventure
Day 1
Galapagos Bird Life, Land, and Marine Exploration
This morning we will hike to Cerro las Tijeretas or Frigate Hill, which gets its name from the large number of Frigate Birds (Tijeretas) that live and nest here. On our walk along the lava rock trails we will be able to see interesting endemic plants and the spectacular birdlife of the Galapagos. There are great views of the coastline and our first encounter with the underwater marine life at Darwin bay.
We continue on to the striking Carola Beach where we can take another dip if we want. Here you will find sea turtles, sea lions, and marine iguanas.
Back at Mann Beach we can kayak (additional cost), providing a perfect end to a perfect active and relaxed day in these enchanted islands.
Lunch included in the town.
Night at Casa Opuntia (standard Matrimonial room) Included:  Transportation, English speaking guide, excursion, lunch, accommodation.
Day 2
Underwater Life (shared excursion)
Today we leave early from Baquerizo Moreno Port and head to the impressive Leon Dormido or Kicker Rock, but before getting there we will try out our snorkeling gear in a small protected bay with calm water and playful sea lions.
Leon Dormido, made of two rocks in the form of an obelisk jutting dramatically out of the sea, is considered one of the top snorkel and dive sites in the Galapagos, and here we use our snorkeling equipment to explore a channel between the rocks. Stingrays, white-tipped reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, turtles, tropical fish and eagle rays all live in the waters around Leon Dormido and if you are lucky you may even get to spot dolphins and whales!
Box lunch included.
Night at Casa Opuntia (standard Matrimonial room) Included: Breakfast, English speaking guide, shared excursion, box lunch, accommodation
Day 3
Today after breakfast, visit to La Galapaguera.
Located to the south-east of the island of San Cristóbal, La Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado is a tortoise reserve that was built to improve the status population of the island’s tortoises, Geochelone chatamensis. It is located within the area of Cerro Colorado, which is also one of the few places where it possible to see the Calandrinia galapagosa, a plant that is endemic to San Cristobal and is in danger of extinction.
Included:  Breakfast, English speaking guide, transportation, excursion.

Getting over food poisoning I still rallied to go out looking for the second endemic gecko species on San Cristobal island. I knew I only had one day left here and I wanted to make use of it. So after trying to force myself to eat the blandest food I could stomach I headed up the hill towards the edge of town. The sun had recently set and it was pretty dark already. This part of town is not a pristine Galapagos scene from a nature documentary. David Attenborough was not narrating. There were lots of stray cats which had me worried about my chances of finding the gecko. There was lots of trash mixed in with weeds and native plants and lava rock. Several times dogs enthusiastically barked at me and half heartedly chased me. I started scanning rocks on the edge of the road with my flashlight. Almost immediately I saw a huge gecko shape out of the corner of my eye! I had almost stumbled upon it. Yes!! I tried not to get too excited yet and got my binoculars on it. Sure enough it was Phyllodactylus darwini! The one I have been dreaming about. I wanted to nature journal it but I was literally on the side of the road in the bushes with trash and dog poop and cars driving by honking at me. I could hear passers by with their kids asking what that person was doing. And I’m standing there with a headlamp strapped on my head pulling out my sketchbook and looking through binoculars with the utmost fascination at what looked like a weedy, trash strewn roadside. I usually worry too much about what other people think but not this time. It was just me and this beautiful leaf toed gecko that exists on this one little island, in this remote archipelago, and nowhere else in the world. #naturejournaling #sketching #galapagos #diariodenaturaleza #naturejournal #biodiversity #geckos #herping #reptilesofthegalapagos #stillmanandbirn (at Puerto Baquerizo Moreno) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfQEjv8N0oN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

TONALLAN TLAHTOCAYOTL. “SI ESTA HECHA EN TONALÁ, ESTÁ BIEN HECHA..”
Ladislao Ortega Maldonado (1880-1951)

260 Chinese fishing boats off the world heritage site Galapagos, aiming for shark fins? The demand for self-control is also legal on the high seas.

260 Chinese fishing boats off the world heritage site Galapagos, aiming for shark fins? The demand for self-control is also legal on the high seas.
(Photo: Yomiuri Shimbun)
[Rio de Janeiro = Takayu Fuchigami] About 260 Chinese fishing fleets have been confirmed to operate off the Galapagos Islands, a World Natural Heritage site in Ecuador, South America. The Ecuadorian government has urged China to restrain itself because of concerns over the impact of overfishing on the ecosystem, but the Chinese government has not responded that it is "legal on the high seas."
The fishing fleet was confirmed by the Ecuadorian Navy on the 16th of this month. It seems that sharks are fished for shark fins, operating on the open sea between the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of 200 nautical miles (about 370 km) from the mainland and Galapagos Islands. The Navy is constantly monitoring the fishing fleet for entry into the EEZ for fishing.
President Lenin Moreno said in a speech on the 25th, "The sea area is a rich fishing ground and at the same time a treasure trove of life for the earth." From the perspective of conserving marine resources, it is a form of nailing the Chinese government so as not to overfish it. He also indicated the idea of discussing responses with neighboring countries facing the Pacific Ocean, such as Chile and Peru.
The reason why the Ecuadorian government takes a strict stance is that Chinese fishing boats have a "criterion".
In August 2017, the Ecuadorian authorities seized a Chinese ship illegally operating in a marine protected area about 64 km east of San Cristobal Island at the eastern end of the Galapagos Islands, according to local newspaper El Commercio. I did. Approximately 6,600 sharks, including endangered hammerhead sharks, were found onboard. In 2015, about 200,000 shark fins were confiscated from Chinese fishing boats.
On the other hand, the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador is dissatisfied with the response of the Ecuadorian government. A statement was posted on the website on the 23rd, claiming that "the operation of Chinese fishing boats is legally carried out in the high seas outside the EEZ and poses no threat to anyone."

The Galapagos Islands Guide
The Galapagos Islands are a container list goal all things considered: Thanks to an absence of normal predators, benevolent natural life, for example, energetic ocean lions and colossal ocean tortoises let guests find a workable pace individual. This archipelago of around 19 islands and numerous littler islets sprinkled 620 miles off Ecuador's coast in the Pacific Ocean is a twofold World Heritage site (both land and ocean are secured) and filled in as the motivation for Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution. Every island flaunts its own remarkable scene, extending from desolate dark, volcanic rocks to swaths of white sand seashores softening into gemstone-blue waters.
When to Go
Bartolome Island, Galapagos Islands
Thinkstock
This relies upon what you're hoping to understand. Busiest months for the travel industry will, in general, be June, July, and August, just as mid-December to mid-January (costs are frequently most noteworthy at these occasions too). The hot, blustery period of December through May is the point at which the sea is the calmest, every day downpours offer an approach to for the most part bright skies, and temperatures are during the 80s.
The cooler, dryer season is June through November, because of the Humboldt Current which brings cold water and cooler temperatures (during the 70s). In spite of the fact that the oceans are harsher, experienced jumpers trust it's the best time to visit in light of the fact that colder water draws in considerably increasingly awesome marine life, (for example, huge schools of hammerhead sharks). It's additionally whenever guests have a superior possibility of spotting unbelievable whale sharks at Wolf and Darwin islands.
Visits
Experience Life
Visits to the majority of the islands aren't permitted without a guide authorized with the Galapagos National Park. You can book day excursions to a portion of the islands from the principle visitor center point of Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz, yet taking a voyage on a little yacht is the most ideal approach to see the more remote islands and untamed life in the Galapagos. The national park limits the size of vessels to 100 travelers, yet even 100 can over-burden a seashore while landing at the same time. Perfect visit vessels take just little gatherings, for example, 16 to 32 travelers. Experience Life is a reasonable travel organization that books little travels, just as land-based climbing trips, eco-inns, multi-sport visits, and plunge outing additional items.
It's ideal to book at any rate a couple of months ahead of time since pontoons frequently top off during the high season. You may discover a minute ago arrangements at profound limits at movement offices in the Mariscal area of Quito or along Avenida Charles Darwin in Puerto Ayora, however, you're facing a genuine challenge with finding an opening, or may need to stand by for a short time or leave to going on a lower-quality boat.
Step by step instructions to Get There
Thinkstock
To start with, you should find a good pace by flying into either the capital city of Quito or Guayaquil. The islands are closer to Guayaquil. In the event that you have the alternative, fly here to spare time since most flights from Quito have a stopover here while in transit to the Galapagos. American Airlines, Continental/Copa and Delta all fly to Ecuador from the U.S. Most Galapagos flights are either early morning or night, so you'll presumably require a medium-term remain on the terrain.
Your most solid option for finding a workable pace is to fly into Baltra Island before taking a transport and ship ride to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, the most well-known visitor center. Another alternative is to fly into the capital of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal Island, however, most travels start in Santa Cruz. You can book through residential aircraft, for example, TAME, LAN, or Aerogal.
Numerous visits do exclude flights in their bundle costs, yet get some information about booking flights through the journey organization you're thinking about choosing. A few organizations charge an expense for booking those interior flights all alone, since they may pre-mastermind bunch flight appointments with the aircraft to guarantee the best rates and that everybody shows up on a similar flight.
Where to Stay
The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.
In case you're flying into Quito, look at Mansion Del Angel, a 14-room boutique inn with a quiet nursery and delectable smorgasbord breakfast that is just around a 10-minute stroll from the fundamental traveler zone. Note that the new Quito air terminal is a lengthy drive from Quito itself, so rest someplace nearer in case you're flying in late and leaving ahead of schedule for your Galapagos flight.
When flying into Guayaquil, Hotel Oro Verde Guayaquil is a helpful alternative since it offers free transport to the lodging (which is just around a 10-minute ride away), and has great assistance.
Most Galapagos visits start and end in Santa Cruz. You should go through an additional night and rampage spend on a stay at the Finch Bay Eco Hotel. A speedy ship ride from the dock at Puerto Ayora, it has its own detached seashore where you can snorkel, kayak and swims read more
