STWG Daily Drabble 2/16/24
Prompt: napping
this very nearly gets spicy but Eddie is just an eepy guy, anyway warning for a glimpse of daddy and breeding kink
“Where is she?” Eddie says, bursting through the door like a madman, crouching down with arms outstretched for his mini-me.
“‘Hi sweetheart, I can’t believe I’ve been gone for a week, I missed you so much,’” Steve mutters from the couch. He pushes his book aside and sends Eddie his best attempt at a withering glare over his glasses, but that look lost all its heat in ‘86 when Steve used it enough to last a lifetime, dragging Eddie’s ass through physical therapy.
Eddie’s smile warms as he drops down on the couch next to his heart, pulling him into the embrace they’ve both been missing like a lost limb.
“Hi sweetheart,” he says, pushing Steve’s bangs away from his forehead so he can leave a kiss right between his eyes. “I can’t believe I’ve been gone for a week. I missed you so much.” He says it so earnestly, it hurts, and Steve melts into him, holding on to Eddie like a lifeline.
“She’s napping,” Steve whispers from the space he’s built himself in the crook of Eddie’s neck, his home. “Just went down, so, we’ve got a couple hours.”
“Oh? And was there potentially something you wanted to do with that time?”
Steve blushes, and Eddie is hit with the thought that it is really such a treat that after years of fighting and recovery, fighting again, but this time just to find a place in the world, and now a 3 year old who has made all the pain worth it in the end, Steve still gets a little shy asking for what he wants.
“I just thought, well maybe if we try really hard… I know we never got it to stick, but I think we could try again.”
Eddie can feel his grin bordering on manic. “Oh, sweetheart. You want to be good for me? Let daddy make you feel good and fill you up, see if we can’t put a baby in you this time?”
“Yes! Please, daddy, can we?”
“Well since you asked so nicely, baby.”
Eddie stands without releasing his hold on Steve’s waist. Steve has to jump up a bit to wrap his legs around Eddie’s waist, nearly knocking his forehead into Eddie’s nose in the process, but for all the awkward limbs and narrowly avoided bloody noses, they’re laughing through it all the same, just happy to be back in each other's arms.
In their bedroom, thankfully soundproofed so they don’t wake the child, Eddie drops Steve onto the mattress with a heavy thud. He takes his time crawling up his partner’s picturesque physique, softened by fatherhood, but no less beautiful, lavishing attention at every spot of soft skin he can get his mouth on.
Until he reaches his neck and slows down to kiss and nip, leaving marks much lighter than they once used to claim each other with. Steve is a teacher now, and Eddie couldn’t be more proud, if only a little disappointed that he has to make sure any marks he leaves are coverable by his shirt or at least concealer now. It’s in the warmth and safety of Steve’s pulse, thrumming hard in his neck, that the exhaustion of the day hits Eddie all at once. He’s been traveling home from meetings with his publishing company, followed by two days of panels at San Diego Comic-Con since late last night, catching a red eye in the hopes of making it home for breakfast with Little One, just to stumble into his flight having been detoured, a four hour layover and a connecting flight nearly doubling his travel time.
“Eddie?” Steve asks softly. Eddie doesn’t stir, just huffs soft breaths into his skin.
Steve smiles fondly, wills his boner to calm the fuck down and pulls the blankets up around them. A nap it is, then.
Later, when Little One has decided sleep is for the weak, she’ll run into their bedroom, screaming in excitement at Eddie’s return. Steve will watch in loving exasperation as Eddie scoops her up and returns her excitement tenfold, before going to make second breakfast for his little hobbit, since he missed the first.

BAD PREMONITION TOUR ARCHIVE: LA / SAN DIEGO / SAN FRANCISCO
LA was one of the most special shows I've ever played :) I performed at The Lodge Room in Highland Park which is one of my favorite venues in the city. I've seen lots of shows there so it was really cool to finally be on the stage side of it. Since this was my hometown show I was able to bring some set pieces that I couldn't travel with for the rest of the tour, so I was able to build the world out on stage more than the other shows. I had the big wooden box and walked on dragging the scythe from the EP cover. I wore a turquoise asymmetrical top and bikini bottoms from Prisca Vera and the long, witchy wig I wore in my Mona Lisa video. I also had a big chunky bejeweled choker and a turquoise heart garter made for me by Tori of DMT Vintage. Throughout the show I realized the wig wasn't set sturdy enough so it was slowly falling off as I was moving and head banging around...by the end of the show I ended up just ripping it off and waving it around which the audience loved, hahah. I performed my encore with a wig cap and the wig in one hand.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we hit San Diego -- I realized I'd played at this venue once before (during the Crawl Space tour) and it brought back a flood of memories (particularly a very non-glamorous one of peeing in the alley before going on stage cause there was no non-public bathroom). It was a really low key show and it felt like I was integrated into the audience in a really intimate vibe. The stage had all these cute lights and a velvet curtain against the wall...it felt like a twin peaks scene. I wore a lace up Frankie's bathing suit with Elena Velez leggings and big puffy boots. The last show of the tour was San Francisco and it was such a good one to end with! Part of the show visuals was a live camera feed from my phone projecting behind me and I decided to lean into it more for this last show and really make it feel like a big party. Vogue shot me from onstage to offstage, as well as shooting the crowd and it definitely got rowdier than some of the other shows. Someone sent up a big bouquet of lilies (my favs) which was so sweet. The whole show felt like a big warm hug. I wore this incredible kind of gothic dress by Elena Velez which I'd been saving all tour for the finale. I got off stage with the flowers in hand and red lipstick smeared all over my face - it was the perfect end to the BAD PREMONITION TOUR :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn't have asked for a better return to touring, it felt so good seeing real faces again, singing along with the audience and getting that reassurance that my fans are out there and will show up and turn up for and with me!!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE IT OUT AND TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED THIS TOUR COME TOGETHER <3 until next time <3

Natural portals are common, but covering the whole of the universe only a fraction of a fraction lead to Earth. And Danny has gotten used to the convenience of the stable portals, he doesn't have the patience to wait for a portal to open. So he's working on it—learning to create portals.
The trickiest part is opening portals from the Zone and ending up when and where you want to go. That's the part he's working on now.
Of course, he gets it wrong the first time.
Oh, it's Earth alright, about the right time period even, but if the Justice League existed back home he sure as hell would have heard about it. Sam would have had plenty to say, too.
There are also a lot of references to major cities he's never heard of. The city his portal dropped him in, Gotham, and their rival-sister city Metropolis. Some cities on the other coast called Star and Coast City, but no one talks about LA or San Diego. If they exist they're second fiddle to the cities that have their own heroes.
(Green Lantern is a space hero! Too bad he's a cop, though.)
Gotham has... bats?
Eh, he can figure it out while exploring.
And there's plenty to explore! Even the newer buildings have gargoyles all over them. Danny is drifting invisibly along the rooftops naming them when he sees someone his age being dragged into the most suspicious van.
He drops down to street level, crawls intangibly into the van and considers how obvious he wants to be. Maybe he doesn't want anyone to see him just yet, but that's not exactly a problem.
One of the kidnappers has the other teenager by the arm, but they're all focused on their argument at the front.
The alley is Hood's territory, Signal patrols the Narrows during the day, even the Bat comes out during the day if one of the rogues attack.
Honestly he's not sure what's going on with the hero-villain situation in this city.
A sharp turn sends everyone reeling and kicks off another round of shouting. It also leaves their hostage sprawled across the floor of the van. Danny creeps forward and grabs the teenager's ankle, lets his power turn him invisible and intangible.
The van drives on without them down a few more blocks and around another corner.
Danny drops the other teenager on the sidewalk, visible and tangible again.
"I haven't seen you before."
"They didn't see me at all." Danny grins. "See you later."
He fades invisible again and puts a hand over his mouth to hide his laughter.
The press was going wild. Headlines like, "A bat unmasked?" and "Bat kid gone wild!" which Danny thought was uncalled for. He didn't even do anything that bad. All he did was rescue those kids and preformed a perfect flying kick to the mans jaw! He didn't even knock out a tooth!
Oh. And he wasn't even one of the bats.
Danny had only been in this dimension for a day and had no idea what was going on. He didn't actually have plans to stay in this world long so when he saw a guy around his own age being held hostage by guys in ski masks he just acted. He just flew invisibly to the hostage and took them.
By the time the captors realized thier hostage was missing they were long gone.
Turns out the guys name was Tim and he was rich, which honestly explains the kidnapping. Tim had a lot of questions and Danny just wanted to know where to drop Tim off at.
Later that night he gets to meet the bat himself and of course he trolls Batman and makes the man chase after him around the city. This turns out to be a big mistake. As Phantom Danny wouldn't dare use any of the fighting techniques his mother had thought him. His mother had trained in a very exclusive dojo by a legendary master who only ever took 7 pupils in his lifetime and his mom taught this stuff to Danny up until the accident. So if Phantom used these techniques his mom would know immediately that it was him.
But here no one knows who he is.
No one knows about him or Phantom.
And he doesn't plan to stay...so why not go ham? Thus Danny play fighting the bat across streets and rooftops, through bars and crowded shopping districts all while giving witty banter.
It probably didn't help that he was a very Robin shaped boy...so naturally all those photos of him and the dark knight wound up in the papers. Danny thought it was hilarious until he had his fill of chaos and tried to leave...only to realize he couldn't.
He was trapped in this dimension with the mess he made. Uh oh.

How to Safely and Efficiently Mold Removal in San Diego
Mold is an unwanted guest in any home or business, and San Diego's warm and humid atmosphere may foster its growth. If you have a mold problem in San Diego, then worry not, you’re not alone, however, you must address it as soon as possible. Mold can be harmful to both your health and the structural integrity of your house. We'll teach you how to safely and efficiently eradicate mold removal in San Diego in this tutorial.
Mold removal is more than simply a cosmetic concern; it is a necessary step toward ensuring a safe and healthy living environment. So, the next time you see those unattractive areas of mold, know that with the correct strategy and the right personnel, you can effectively say goodbye to the mold problem.
Identifying the Problem:
Identifying the problem locations is the first stage in the mold eradication process. Mold flourishes in damp and gloomy environments, so it frequently goes undiscovered until it becomes a serious problem. Common places to check for mold include:
a. Bathrooms
b. Basements
c. Kitchens
d. Crawl spaces
e. Attics
After you've discovered the mold-infested places, the following step is to determine the scope of the problem. Is it a little, isolated problem, or has it spread across your property? This assessment will help determine the appropriate removal method.
DIY vs. Professional Help:
For minor mold issues, you can tackle the removal process yourself, but for more extensive problems, it's best to seek professional assistance. DIY methods include using household cleaning products like vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Mold spores can be hazardous, so protect yourself by using gloves and a mask.
Large mold infestations, particularly those greater than 10 square feet, should be addressed with a San Diego mold removal service. Mold may be safely and successfully removed by professionals, who have the requisite equipment and knowledge.
Safety Precautions:
When attempting to remove mold on your own, safety should be your top priority. Remember to:
a. Wear protective clothing, including gloves and a mask.
b. Ventilate the area by opening windows and using fans to circulate air.
c. Isolate the contaminated area to prevent the spread of spores.
d. Discard contaminated materials properly.
Cleaning Products:
Choosing the right cleaning products is crucial for successful mold removal. In San Diego, where mold growth is common, you can find various commercial mold removal products in local stores. Look for items that are designed to combat mold and mildew. For safe and efficient usage, always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Scrubbing and disposal:
When cleaning mold-infested surfaces, use a scrubbing brush and your preferred cleaning product. Scrub gently to eradicate the mold, taking care not to release spores into the air. Following that, carefully rinse and dry the area.
For disposal, use a sturdy trash bag and seal it tightly. This will prevent spores from escaping and spreading further. Dispose of the bag according to your local regulations.
Preventing Future Growth:
Mold eradication is only part of the issue; avoiding its recurrence is critical. The environment in San Diego might make it difficult to keep mold away, but there are things you can take to reduce the risk:
a. Reduce indoor humidity levels by using dehumidifiers or air conditioning.
b. Fix any water leaks or issues that may contribute to mold growth.
c. Ensure proper ventilation in areas prone to mold, like bathrooms and kitchens.
d. Regularly clean and maintain your property to catch mold growth in its early stages.
Professional Mold Removal Services in San Diego:
If you have major mold issues or are hesitant about addressing the condition yourself, it is advised to contact a San Diego mold removal service. They have the training, tools, and expertise to handle even the most complex instances.
When choosing a professional, be certain that you:
a. Verify their credentials and licenses.
b. Ask for references and check their reputation.
c. Request a detailed estimate and timeline for the work.
d. Ensure they follow safety guidelines and industry standards.
A competent mold removal service will not only remove the present mold but will also advise you on how to prevent it from returning in the future. In the long term, this preventative strategy can save you time, money, and health concerns.
Mold spores can cause allergic responses, respiratory troubles, and other health concerns, especially in people who already have a disease. Seek medical assistance if you or a member of your family is experiencing symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or skin rashes.
Being proactive about mold removal in San Diego, where mold is abundant, may dramatically minimize health concerns. Whether you manage it yourself or engage specialists, you must move quickly.
Why you should consider hiring professionals for mold removal?
Hiring a skilled mold removal company offers several significant advantages over attempting to deal with mold issues on your own. Here are some compelling reasons:
Expertise and Experience:
Skilled mold removal companies have the knowledge and experience to effectively assess, identify, and address mold problems. They understand the different types of mold, the conditions that promote its growth, and the most appropriate removal techniques. This expertise ensures that the mold is removed safely and completely.
Proper Training and Certification:
Reputable mold removal companies have technicians who are trained and certified in mold remediation. These experts are up to speed on the most recent industry regulations and safety practices, guaranteeing that the removal process is carried out appropriately. They can manage the complete process, from inspection to remediation and prevention.
Advanced Equipment and Tools:
Mold eradication frequently necessitates the use of specialized equipment and tools that the typical homeowner may not have. To safely and efficiently remove mold while limiting its spread, professional mold removal firms invest in high-quality equipment such as air scrubbers, dehumidifiers, and containment barriers.
Safety Precautions:
Mold may be damaging to one's health, and removing it might expose you to dangerous spores. Mold removal specialists are well-versed in safety procedures and have the required personal protective equipment (PPE) to safeguard their own and the occupants' safety. They also adhere to containment measures to avoid cross-contamination.
Thorough Mold Removal:
Professionals are skilled at identifying the source of mold growth and addressing it at its root. They don't just remove visible mold; they also work to prevent its return by eliminating the conditions that foster mold growth. This comprehensive approach ensures a long-term solution.
Conclusion
Mold removal in San Diego is a common and necessary task due to the region's climate. It's crucial to address mold issues promptly to prevent structural damage to your property and protect your health. Follow safety measures, use the proper cleaning chemicals, and take steps to avoid future mold development whether you want to handle the matter yourself or engage a professional mold removal service. In the end, your proactive attitude to mold removal in San Diego will determine the safety and well-being of your house and family.

Common pest inspection procedures for commercial buildings in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County
Exterior Inspection: Inspect the building's foundation, walls, and roof for cracks, crevices, and other entry points that pests can use to enter the building
Interior Inspection: Check for signs of pest activity, such as droppings, nests, or damage to structures. Pay special attention to areas where food is stored or prepared, as well as restrooms and other moist areas
Harborage Areas: Look for areas where pests can hide, such as crawl spaces, basements, and attics
Conducive Conditions: Identify conditions that may attract pests, such as standing water, clutter, or inadequate ventilation
Entry Points: Seal spaces in the foundation, place door sweeps on exterior doors, and ensure weatherstripping is intact around windows and doors to prevent pests from entering
Pest Activity: Check for signs of pest activity, such as droppings, nests, or damage to structures
Preventive Measures: Suggest preventive measures to the property owner or manager, such as removing brush piles, fallen trees, rocks, and other debris from the yard that ants will nest under or within
By conducting regular pest inspections and implementing preventive measures, commercial buildings in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County can maintain a pest-free environment and protect their reputation and bottom line.
Payne Pest Management or a local pest control professional. Here are some common techniques used for bee removal:
Identification of Bee Species:
Different bee species may require different handling techniques. For example, honey bees are often protected, and their removal may involve specialized procedures.
Survey and Assessment: Pest control professionals will assess the situation, considering factors such as the size and location of the bee colony, potential hazards, and the type of structure involved.
Protective Gear: Professionals typically wear protective clothing to minimize the risk of stings. This may include bee suits, gloves, and veiled hats.
Live Removal (When Possible): In many cases, especially with honey bees, the goal is to relocate the colony rather than exterminate it. This involves capturing the live bees and relocating them to a safer location, such as a beekeeping facility.
Exclusion Techniques: Pest control experts may use exclusion methods to prevent bees from re-entering a structure after removal. This may involve sealing entry points once the bees are removed.
Chemical Treatment (As a Last Resort): If live removal is not possible or poses significant risks, professionals may use chemical treatments. However, this is usually a last resort due to environmental concerns and the importance of preserving bee populations.
Clean-Up and Repair: After bee removal in San Deigo, professionals may clean the affected area and repair any damage caused by the bees or the removal process.
Compliance with Regulations: Pest control services must adhere to local and state regulations regarding the removal of bees, especially if they are a protected species.
Remember, bees play a crucial role in pollination, and efforts are often made to relocate them rather than exterminate them whenever possible. Always consult with professionals to ensure safe and ethical bee removal practices.

The Cost of Air Duct Cleaning in San Diego: Is it Worth it?
Tumblr media
If you're considering air duct cleaning in San Diego, you might be wondering whether it's worth the expense. After all, it's essential to keep your home's air quality in top shape, but does the cost justify the benefits? In this blog, we'll break down the factors that influence the cost of air duct cleaning and explore ways to budget for your next project without using complex words.
Air Duct Cleaning in San Diego Cost Breakdown
The cost of cleaning your air ducts can vary widely based on several factors. Let's take a closer look at what influences the price:
1. Size of Ductwork
The size of your home and the corresponding ductwork play a significant role in determining the cost. In many cases, cleaning is priced per square foot. For a typical 1,500-square-foot house, you can expect to pay between $180 and $360.
2. Number of Vents
The more vents you have, the higher the cleaning cost. Vents typically cost around $35 each to clean. To estimate the cost, count the vents in your home and multiply that number by $35.
3. Type of Ductwork
The type of ductwork in your home also affects the price. Flexible ducts require specialized cleaning equipment, making them costlier to clean. In contrast, rigid metal ducts are easier to clean, resulting in lower costs.
4. Labor
Most professionals charge by the hour for air duct cleaning, with rates ranging from $90 to $125 per hour. Depending on your home's size and the complexity of the job, cleaning may take anywhere from three to eight hours.
5. Location
Your location can influence the cost of air duct cleaning. Here's an approximate cost range for different areas:
New York: $268 - $488
New Hampshire: $312 - $538
California: $222 - $452
Florida: $258 - $518
Illinois: $267 - $395
Michigan: $290 - $429
Colorado: $239 - $400
Nevada: $220 - $462
Texas: $263 - $712
6. Accessibility
The ease of access to your ducts can affect costs. If your ducts are located in a crawl space or other hard-to-reach areas, it may be more challenging for professionals to complete the job, potentially increasing costs.
Additional Duct Cleaning Costs to Consider
Besides the standard factors, unexpected issues may arise during the cleaning process, such as pests, mold, asbestos, and more. These additional costs can impact your overall project budget:
Pest Removal
If rodents or pests are found in your ducts, you'll need to hire an exterminator to address the issue. Rodent removal costs can range from $200 to $1,200.
Mold and Mildew Removal
Mold in your ducts requires remediation, which can add between $1,100 and $3,400 to your cleaning costs. This expense ensures your home's air quality remains healthy.
Asbestos Removal
Asbestos removal is crucial for health and safety and costs between $5 and $20 per square foot. If asbestos is detected, work must halt until a professional is hired.
Air Duct Coating
Coating your air ducts costs around $180 to $630 on average. This protective coating prevents dust and grime from recirculating into your home.
Air Duct Repairs
Addressing duct issues during cleaning can cost between $200 and $800. Timely repairs are essential for efficient duct performance and lower energy consumption.
Air Duct Cleaning Cost Add-Ons
Sometimes, air duct cleaning uncovers issues within your HVAC system that require additional services:
Video Inspection
A video inspection, costing between $70 and $130, helps identify duct cleaning needs and potential problems.
Furnace Cleaning
Many HVAC cleaning companies offer combined services, including furnace cleaning, which can range from $60 to $150 per furnace.
Air Conditioning Repairs
Faulty AC components can affect your ducts. Repairs, which average $350, should be addressed promptly to prevent more significant expenses.
Air Conditioner Maintenance
Routine AC maintenance, averaging between $75 and $200, ensures efficient cooling and may reduce long-term costs.
Signs It's Time to Clean Your Air Ducts
Knowing when to clean your air ducts is crucial or need air duct cleaning in San Diego. Look out for signs such as:
Increased allergy symptoms
Higher utility bills
Visible dust buildup
Frequent dust accumulation
Unusual HVAC noises
Evidence of pests or rodents
Weak airflow
Musty odors or mold
How to Save Money on Air Duct Cleaning
To save on air duct cleaning costs, consider these strategies:
1. Get Multiple Quotes
Compare quotes from different HVAC professionals to find the best price for your project.
2. Replace Filters on Schedule
Regularly replace air filters to prevent excessive duct dirt buildup and simplify cleaning.
3. Complete Other Maintenance Tasks
Address HVAC system issues promptly and perform regular maintenance to keep ducts clean and efficient.
4. Repair Duct Damage
Fix duct damage quickly to prevent dirt accumulation, mold, and mildew growth.
5. Consider Energy Savings
Factor in energy savings when budgeting for duct cleaning, as a cleaner system operates more efficiently in the long run.
Factors to Consider while Hiring a Duct Cleaner Company
When you decide to hire an air duct cleaning service provider like EZ Heat and Air for air duct cleaning in San Diego. It's essential to know what to expect from their services. Here's a checklist of what a reputable provider should do:
Open Access Ports or Doors: The service provider should ensure that all access ports or doors in your duct system are opened. This allows for a thorough cleaning and inspection of the entire system.
Asbestos Inspection: Before beginning the cleaning process, the provider should inspect the system to check for any asbestos-containing materials. If such materials are present (e.g., insulation, register boots), specialized procedures and contractors trained to handle asbestos should be involved, as disturbing or removing asbestos can be hazardous.
Proper Vacuum Equipment: The service provider should use vacuum equipment that either exhausts particles outside of your home or employs high-efficiency particle air (HEPA) vacuuming equipment if the exhaust is within the home. This ensures that the removed dust and particles do not re-enter your living spaces.
Protection of Home: To prevent any damage, the service provider should take measures to protect your carpets and household furnishings during the cleaning process.
Brushing and Vacuuming: Cleaning involves the use of controlled brushing on duct surfaces, coupled with contact vacuum cleaning, to dislodge and remove dust and particles.
Soft-Bristled Brushes: Soft-bristled brushes should be used for cleaning fiberglass duct boards and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass. While flex ducts can also be cleaned with soft-bristled brushes, it may be more cost-effective to replace accessible flex ducts.
Duct Work Protection: After completing the cleaning, the service provider should take care to seal and re-insulate any access holes they may have made or used, ensuring they are airtight to maintain the integrity of the ductwork.
Final Words
In conclusion, air duct cleaning in San Diego comes with varying costs influenced by factors like duct size, location, and additional services. While it might seem like an expense, maintaining clean air ducts contributes to healthier indoor air quality and energy efficiency. By understanding the cost breakdown and considering ways to save, you can make an informed decision about the worthiness of air duct cleaning for your home.

KEEP YOUR HOUSE WARM THIS WINTER WITH A TANKLESS WATER HEATER INSTALLATION
Tumblr media
Due to the importance of constant access to hot water, many households go for Tankless water heater installation in San Diego. A water heater is a standard appliance in most houses, but few people consider how much energy it consumes without being used. Tankless water heater on-demand setups are well-liked because of their usefulness, efficiency, and durability.
Due to its reduced impact on homeowners’ energy expenses, tankless water heaters have been increasingly popular in recent years. But what happens if you reside somewhere that has a more severe winter? Here’s the information on choosing a reliable tankless water heater.
The winter months are a bit more challenging for a tankless water heater due to its limitations, but it still does its job. Do tankless water heaters work well during the colder months? Yes, it is.
The water in tankless water heaters is pre-heated by a condenser, meaning it takes less time for the water to reach the temperatures pre-set for the flow of hot water. The water is heated to the desired level at about 1.6 gallons per minute.
As the water heater works to heat it, the pressure will drop at first, but the final product will be at the desired temperature. Installing a tankless water heater in a cold area can get you into some hot water but in a good way.
WHAT IS MEANT BY “TANKLESS WATER HEATER”?
A tankless water heater is a system that uses either gas or propane to heat water as it is used continuously. Turning on the tap sends cold water through pipes into the unit, which is heated by a coil of electric resistance or a burner of gas. With direct heating, you never have to worry about running out of hot water because it is not stored in a tank.
Tankless water heaters are more space-efficient than traditional water heaters, which do not require storage space for water and instead heat water on demand using electricity or gas.
Maintaining a constant hot water supply is essential if you use more than 3 gallons per minute. You can use a storage-type water heater if the rate at which you consume hot water is lower than three gallons per minute.
Tankless water heaters are tiny and come in various colors and finishes, making them easy to fit your home’s design. Tankless water heaters are more efficient than conventional models by 8-34%, depending on their fuel source. The tankless water heater in crawl space can also be installed due to its small size, like a suitcase.
BENEFITS OF TANKLESS WATER HEATER
Some advantages of a tankless water heater are listed below:
The unlimited hot water supply is one of the most convenient aspects of a tankless water heater installation in San Diego. Homeowners who rely on conventional water heaters may run out of hot water and have to wait until it is reheated. Because there is no tank to dry up, a tankless water heater will never run out of hot water.
An additional benefit of tankless water heaters is that it eliminates the risk of fires caused by an exposed gas flame. When traditional water heaters fail, they sometimes let off flames that could spark a fire.
Using gas presents the additional risk of a gas leak, which can ignite the fuel and cause an explosion. The risk of a house fire is reduced because a tankless water heater doesn’t use gas or an open flame.
TANKLESS WATER HEATERS: WHEN TO USE THEM
There are pros and cons of tankless water heater installation in San Diego, just as with any other home appliance or fixture. It is recommended that homeowners who require a large volume of hot water at peak times of the day install a tankless water heater so that they never run out of water.
A tankless water heater is a way to go when cost-effectiveness and efficiency are essential. The lifespan of a tankless water heater is 20 years or more, which is far longer than that of a conventional water heater.
TANKLESS WATER HEATERS CONSERVE ENERGY
The householder will experience significant savings in energy costs due to the tankless water heater’s elimination of the requirement for an auxiliary storage tank to hold idle hot water. The necessity of having hot water for later use can increase energy savings by at least 35 percent.
When it is eliminated, the efficiency of a tankless water heater is guaranteed to be 95 percent or higher. As a result, a tankless water heater is highly efficient, using almost all the energy it receives.
A TANKLESS WATER HEATER IS BETTER THAN A TRADITIONAL ONE
There are several significant benefits that tankless water heaters offer that make them a viable option for San Diego residents. When it comes to the benefits of tankless water heaters, the first is the basic one of never having to worry about running out of hot water.
Second, installing a tankless water heater can help homeowners save money on their monthly energy bills. Finally, a tankless water heater’s decreased potential for fire is a great benefit.
TANKLESS WATER HEATERS: GAS VS. ELECTRIC
Tankless water heaters are available in both electric and gas varieties. Comparing the energy expenses of these two options to those of a conventional storage hot-water heater, which must constantly heat 40 or 50 gallons of water to the ideal temperature, will reveal significant savings.
THE PRIMARY DISTINCTION LIES IN THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY OPERATE:
Electric tankless water heaters include a big battery that stores energy and heats water on demand. As a result, you will not incur any recurring costs related to heating the hot water. However, if you lose power at home or are experiencing an electrical outage, your hot water supply will be interrupted until power is restored.
A gas-powered tankless water heater heats the water within the unit using an internal gas burner to achieve the desired temperature. If you have a gas connection connected to your home, heating water is a one-time expense because you only have to pay for the gas you consume. If the gas line pressure is insufficient, the flow of hot water from such a device could be reduced during peak demand times.
Some businesses have been around for a long time, serving the needs of San Diego residents who want access to consistent hot water. They help customers find out what kind of heating service they require and recommend the most economical choice.
A professional plumber in San Diego can also replace an old water heater with a new one. Working with EZ PLUMBING USA enables homeowners to experience the benefits of having more reliable water heating while simultaneously reducing their energy expenses. You should contact them if you are ready to make an appointment to install a water heater or have any queries about the process.

Moonlight Sonatas
This Queen Anne-style wedding cake of a mansion has been at 1925 K Street in San Diego for over a hundred years, surviving a long series of near disasters and neglect. The original resident of Villa Montezuma stayed in the house for only two years, and the place went through a succession of owners before it was declared a historic landmark in 1970. Many occupants suffered financial ruin and other hardships, giving rise to a legend that the place is not only haunted but cursed. The villa opened to the public in 1972, after the San Diego Historical Society finished extensive restoration work.
With the arrival of the railroad in 1855, San Diego was transformed from a frontier dust trap into a boomtown. Flush with newfound prosperity, civic boosters and the nouveau riche wanted to bring ever dreaded “culture” to the town. To this end, they convinced the staff and a clique of hangers-on of the San Francisco literary magazine The Golden Era to relocate down south. One of the group was the flamboyant Jesse Shepard-author, musician, and spiritualist. Shepard was basically a professional hipster, on his apparent spiritual depth and carefully crafted persona. Although he gave séances, his psychic powers seem to have been limited to channeling great composers. Or at least that’s what he told audiences in his dimly lit nighttime concerts, where he performed opera selections and played the piano and harpsichord-quite well from all reports.
Spiritualism was all the rage in the San Diego of the mid-1880s. This belief system was an American invention, upstate New York. The young Fox girls claimed they could communicate with disembodied spirits, divining deep truths from a series of thwacks and cracking sounds. Somehow the movement morphed into a national craze, even though one of the sisters later admitted that their “abilities” were just a joke to tease their superstitious mother.
Villa Montezuma is a monument to that movement. It was built for Shepard by a pair of wealthy fruit ranchers, William and John High, who had fallen under Spiritualism’s spell and longed to be accepted in high society. They sold Shepard a plot of land for $1 and then proceeded to finance the ostentatious home for him on the property. They intended to make the place a haven for spiritualists philosophy and a meeting place for the cultured crust of San Diego. Shepard moved in after the paint dried in the summer of 1887. But the next year he was off to Europe, where the Spiritualism pickings were lush. He returned in 1889 and promptly sold the house, never to return to San Diego. He died at the piano in 1927 during a private recital in Los Angeles, his hands still resting on the keys of the last chord he played. He was seventy-nine years old.
Although the docents who lead tea-drinking dowagers and other assorted tourists through the house nowadays are usually loath to discuss it, the place is reportedly home to at least two ghosts. One has been seen staring at neighborhood kids and passersby from other of the upper-floor windows. She is said to be a resident who lived alone in the house after her husband died, most likely accompanied by the ubiquitous herds of cats favored by old women in that situation. Shepard himself has not been sighted, but footsteps and cracking floorboards, as well as the usual closing doors, are witnessed regularly by volunteers from the San Diego Historical Society. Neighbors reports the sounds of piano music coming from somewhere inside late at night. Imprints of a body on Shepard’s downstairs bed are smoothed out in the evening, only to reappear in the morning.
Chris Spratley, one of the guides at Villa Montezuma, says he has heard footfalls from the upstairs rooms and other places in the house both when he is alone and with other docents. He revealed that there is a crawl space between the first-floor ceiling and the stained fir wood floor above.
“I think Shepard used the space to spy on people and knock on the walls during  séances,” he says. “There’s a hidden room behind the fireplace too.” Pressed further, Spratley admits there have been problems with caretakers who live on the property. “They all seem to go a little weird after a few months in the place. We had this one guy a couple of years back who was okay for a while, but then he started giving tours in his T-shirt and sweatpants. When he stayed in his room rather than do a tour, we let him go.” One volunteer took things further. “He started acting weird too, and after he was fired, he started to growing a mustache like Shepard’s and dressing in vintage clothes. He insisted that people call him, Jesse, which wasn’t his name.”
Perhaps the ghosts objects to other things going on in the house. When I was a lad, in the mid-1970s, my Boy Scout troop (San Diego County Council #937) visited the Villa Montezuma on a field trip. I didn’t see any ghosts, but we were blocked from seeing the music room because a photographer was working. “We’re going on to have to close the door. This light’s really messing me up in there,” he informed us. Mysteriously, the tour guide didn’t protest. I fancied myself a budding photographer, so I managed to sneak away from the rest of the group to take a peek at the test shots left carelessly on a downstairs table. My heart (or maybe some forbidden emotion) jumped into my throat-there were twenty or thirty pictures of a naked blond model lounging over the vintage paisley furniture. The model and crew probably thought it was pretty funny that they had to hide from a bunch of Boy Scouts. No idea whether this sort of thing goes on at the place these days. -GB

Seven Small Thank Yous
So much has gone on this year, but it’s very easy to forget the quotidian, the day to day experiences of building life.  And so to end this reflection on 2022, I wanted to thank six people (and a whole coffee collective) who invited me into day-to-day life, let me share joy and sorrow, hilarity and heartbreak.  I can’t thank you all enough, so I’m going to try to just say how much you meant to me this year in a few short paragraphs.
Debra Bass appeared at the most unexpected point of my life.  As I sat down to do a critical reading of my story for my first Vamp story showcase there she was, the only other Black storyteller.  We immediately did that one nod that Black folk do to each other, the one of mutual recognition, survival, and commiseration. Then we heard each other’s stories, and knew we had to be friends.  After Vamp Debra and I went on long walks, had ridiculous laughs together, and grew into that easy space that only true comrades can have.  Debra has an effortless sense of style that ranges from eclectic bohemian chic to effortless glamour.  Her locs are beautiful, her smile is radiant, and she speaks a mile a minute, her words only punctuated by wandering asides, observations, or critiques of the five words that came before.  Debra was the first real friend I feel I made after covid here in San Diego; she became my immediate ridiculous Black travel companion, because we’d both find that the other one was game for just about anything knowing we had company.  So we went to Jewish sabbath suppers, meandering art crawls, museum galas, and seasonal Black group exercise events.  We push each other to try new things—write new stories, try new art practices, examine unseen parts of ourselves.  I am also deeply delighted that she is the one who frequently wants to drive on our adventures; and I compensate by being the person that makes choices on anything from food or drink or destinations, as Debra is not super keen on making any decision that hasn’t been consulted for hours in advance like the quintessential Virgo she is.  Debra is not only brilliant, she makes me feel like I can meet any adventure head-on, as I have a friend and confidante.
Nick Dutton is an absurd human with excellent eyebrows.  Beyond that, he was my one of my students when I taught tenth grade Honors World History in 2007.  Fifteen years later, the two of us are peers; Nick is in his early thirties and trying to navigate what life means back here in San Diego, and I continuously reject the idea that I am his “Black Mr. Feeny” offering him continued life advice.  What started as a hilarious and occasional meet up has turned into a friendship that I genuinely appreciate.  Nick is hilarious and conventionally attractive in a slightly frat bro way, but he’s also a dedicated athlete who runs far more marathons than any human should, and manages to pull off some particularly devastating and clever comebacks and snark.  Nick and I have managed to meet monthly for the last year and a half, but 2022 became a year in which I cherished our get togethers.  We’d always try to find a different vegan place in San Diego, and I have grown to genuinely appreciate Nick’s honesty and thoughtfulness, and he puts up with my occasional teasing and snide rejoinders.  It’s a rare gift to watch someone grow from student to peer to friend, but my life is infinitely better for the silliness and joy Nick brings every time we meet over food without animal products and conversations with good cheer.
Arianna Haut may be one of the best things to ever have come out of winning on Jeopardy aside from meeting Alex Trebek and…you know, the cash.  Arianna and I met through the wider Jeopardy contestant community in 2021, but 2022 was where our friendship really came to shine.  She lives in L.A., and I’m often able to plan hangouts with her when I’m also up visiting my family.  More importantly, she’s someone I check in with daily, exchanging memes, anxieties, and general ridiculosity.  Having a friend who grounds you while also being utterly nonsensical themselves is such a gift, and I don’t know how to express enough gratitude for who Arianna is and what she does.  She’s a brilliant tutor and organizer, an amazing community member, and generous spirit. Some of my best moments with her have been laughing uproariously in the Museum of Jurassic Technology, eating the best tacos ever, wandering the gardens of the Huntington, or exchanging roughly eight million voice notes on facebook messenger.  She, more than anyone else, reminds me that I’m a tightly compressed ball of anxiety in a human meat suit---and that is OKAY.  There’s a depth and a kindness that I cannot fully encapsulate when I think about her and I’m endlessly grateful that she’s someone I can check in with and process and make sense of my life and vice versa.
Paul Binnie is an artist of terrifying skill, a Scotsman with a genuine mischievous charm, and a dear friend of several years.  But in 2022, he became a close and wonderful compatriot.  He joined me on long walks around town, we talked about anxieties, and we held forth on so many different topics each more fun than the last.  Paul has forced me to look at my body in new and incredible ways as he uses his keen eye to draw models, myself included.  He’s also done the impressive work of creating a community of drawing afficionados.  I look forward most weekends to attending his queer drawing group, and I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I’m making among the people assembled there.  Paul does more than just sketch—he also draws people into community, and I’m very grateful to have been able to see him as part of my wider family in San Diego.
Mark Kurai has been my closest friend in San Diego since both moved back in 2018, and this past year was no exception.  We’ve worked together on art projects, survived the worst of lockdowns as friends and confidantes, but more than anything, Mark is simply there. There is an incredible freedom in knowing that you have a friend nearby that you can rely on to process shit, to vent, to go for walks or coffee, or just to exist with.  Mark is a quintessential introvert, and I could not be any further from such a thing, but he does the considerably difficult job of reminding me to be quiet sometimes, to sit and think, and to be okay with mess and discomfort.  In turn, Mark lets me cajole him or push on occasion, and I am so much more balanced for being around his creativity, his patience, and his discerning eye for dialogue or photographs.  The world is a better place with a comrade and friend like him, and I’m constantly challenged by the way he methodically thinks through and processes the world around him.  I can’t think of the year without picnics or cocktails or phone calls or muddling through life—his friendship is the most quotidian and constant and I’m better for it.
I’ve known Robert Valiente-Neighbours now for nearly two decades; hell, I was his best man in 2008 at his wedding.  We both left San Diego after that, but found ourselves back a few years ago, and our friendship continued with the strength unchanged.  Robert is deeply contemplative—there’s a reason he’s a Quaker after all—but it’s more than that; he brings a quiet and meditative strength to everything he does, from his gorgeous and evocative painting and sketching and collage, to his equally dedicated pursuit of fitness.  This year Robert officially got his license as a personal trainer and with his background in nutrition, and after he launched his business, became a formal consultant for me in my strange and continued relationship with my body and strength.  Robert is aggressively disinterested in self-loathing or body transformations so en vogue in “fitness journeys.”  He emphasizes mobility and strength, and joy.  His dark eyes furrow under his brows often as he looks at me with a soft smile and says simply, “so…what do you want to be able to do with this?” Robert challenges me to think about capacity, about joy, about hope in my body. With Robert, discipline is not a product of denial or abnegation; rather, it’s an invitation to think about new ways or relating to yourself and the world around you. I think freely with him about what I want to do when I eat or move, and why I’m doing it.  I don’t think about hating or changing myself, but instead, about inviting in joy.  Likewise, meeting with him as a dear friend is one of the deepest joys I’ve experienced. Robert asks piercing questions, but also asks the same of himself.  But more than that, Robert is the definition of praxis—when one’s ideals come into practical engagement.  Whether it’s working out or prayer, eating or movies, I’m encouraged to think about what every day looks like simply with my friend, and how to be more meaningful in it all.  It’s a gift and a joy.
It’s not every day you get adopted by an entire fucking coffee shop, but Mystic Mocha is not a regular café.  Helmed by the hilarious and kind Izzy—who bears more than a passing resemblance to an everyday Jason Mamoa, hence the ‘Jason Ma-Mocha’ moniker we give him—the crew at my local café are the best and kindest people. Tuuli brings sass and wit sharper than her brilliant catseye wings. Adrian, hilarious and wildly observant, is clearly a background character on the queer pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death.  Kendall’s wide-eyed kindness belies a brilliant mind. Alyssa offers nothing but joy and chaos in equal measure and invites us to celebrate with her.  Miko is a devastatingly talented artist and cook who radiates a constant cool that you can’t help but want to be around.  Each of these amazing people invited me into daily community with coffee and chats, smiles and vegan breakfast burritos.  I wrote them a postcard from Fiji, specifically because I missed them so much, and wore a long-sleeve with the café on it when I wandered Aotearoa’s winter streets.  They came to one of my story telling events with Vamp in October. They invited me to parties and get togethers, and insisted that I was part of their little community, and I cannot say enough how much it meant to me to be seen by some of the coolest people I know.  I still think how fucking lucky I am to have met people who are not only super cool in a daily café, but also want to hangout after work, and I can’t help but smile at feeling like I’m building a community with people I genuinely think are incredible.
