Update: Hiatus
((So the weekend posting thing isn’t going to work out for me as well as I would like it to. That being said, consider this a temporary hiatus. Things are not calming down in terms of my schedule as quickly as I would like them too. In fact, I’d say they’re getting a little more busy. The GOOD news is that within the next few weeks, it should (notice the word “should”) return to normal. My family is attempting to get my dog to me and once that’s done things should be relatively settled down. --CraftyShadowKitten ))

UnsungCanineHero Update
((Alright. So here’s the thing. I have job training that I will be starting very soon. That being said, you all will probably see a significant decrease in my activity. If push comes to shove I may have to put the blog on hiatus but for right now I don’t foresee that happening. Just realize my activity will probably be concentrated toward the weekend for now for several months, assuming I can stay active. I don’t necessarily know how active I can be. In the meantime I have 6 Drafts from the following: @airxn @thunderboltfromachu @askprivaterowan (x2) @unoraptormon and @unjeuneprince (If it is my turn to post and you’re not listed here, I have no idea about it so please let me know) I need to make a starter for @gentlegiantingvar and will likely be refraining from starter calls and such until I can figure out exactly how much time or how little time I will have with this new schedule. Thank you all for being patient. ---CraftyShadowKitten ))

☿ ♀
Once again, this is a long answer so I’ll put it under a readmore.
♀ :A trope you catch yourself falling back too often?
☿ :A trope you dislike?
♀ :A trope you catch yourself falling back too often? Traditional “chosen one” type tropes. I love it, I really do. Lanetic, however, was basically a major leap away from this trope because as it turns out, she’s NOT the “chosen one” or guardian, as it were. She is NOT destined for greatness or given special powers from birth. She is herself and only has items that anyone else could go find. Someone else could have just as easily stood up and said “I’ll play the part of guardian,” walked out, and did everything Lanetic did and saved the day and it would not matter much.
☿ :A trope you dislike?
I don’t know if there is a name for it (there probably is) but the best way I can describe it is calling it wishy-washy monsters or villains. Villain characters are one thing, redeemed villains are another (and I have seen this trope done VERY well), but this wishy-washy monster is something else entirely different from those two. This is a trope that feels like it can’t decide what to do anymore. One minute the character is saying “What ever will I do? I am in such a pickle.” the next, threatening to destroy some enemy, and after that, sad/depressed and blaming their bad behavior on “insanity” or some other poorly constructed (or alternatively, not researched) reasoning. The best example I can give of this where this trope was actually done well is Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Beast’s temper flares and he frequently switches from being amiable, to aggressive, to anguishing his inevitable fate. That’s just it though, there is a reason for his behavior. He has been isolated, he’s in danger of being stuck a beast for the rest of his life, he’s running out of time and he’s stressed out about all of it. Anyone will eventually break down under pressure. But a wishy-washy monster character who’s alignment doesn’t seem have a firm foothold anywhere and the character seemingly has no motives at all? It just doesn’t appeal to me most of the time.

▲ :What sort of information do you like to see on someone’s role play page that helps you determine whether or not you would want to write with them?
Once again this is a long answer so it is going under a read more.
(( Not much. There’s little things that might keep me from following someone (like constant use of giant gifs over and over again) but I would still generally write with them if I’m interested. So if we’re talking about something that would make or break whether or not I want to write with them, like one BIG thing then it is how they act toward original characters. I was warned by a friend how some people behave toward original characters and honestly? It felt a little backwards to me at first. Neither of these behaviors is fair but where I roleplayed previously, people tended to dislike canon characters and how they were roleplayed instead. Imagine my surprise moving over here and finding that it was the other way around. How do I feel about it? I feel like you should write for the characters you want to write for and how you want to write them and who you want to write with!So if someone with a canon character says “I don’t want to play with characters outside my fandom?” I’m okay with that. If they say “I don’t want to play with original characters at all?” Guess what? I’m still okay with that. Obviously I won’t be able to write with these people but that’s beside the point. They aren’t doing anything wrong. What I don’t like to see is blogs that dictate that they will automatically pay more attention to canon characters and push the OC’s to the back before they have ever even known about them, just because they’re OCs. That is not OC-friendly. This isn’t even OC selective either. This is bias toward other characters regardless of how great or poorly constructed they are. And before anyone says “But Crafty, they may only want to RP with characters they recognize from canon materials!” then why not say that instead? It’s not the same thing. Furthermore, why would I want to RP with someone who more or less basically told me that they don’t care all that much? If the same was said for a canon character, would you want to RP with them? I doubt it. I don’t either. If someone feels like responding to someone else’s threads over and over and only posts on mine once in a while because that’s what they have motivation for? Go right ahead. I totally understand. I do it too. RP is meant to be fun, not a chore but it isn’t fun when you’re essentially telling people that their characters have less value before you even see them. —CraftyShadowKitten))

😤 :Worse role play-related encounter and what advice you would give to others to avoid similar situations?
((I’m putting this under a readmore because it is a long reply. —Craftyshadowkitten))
((One of my worst roleplay-related experiences? This occurred more than once but my worst RP experiences (and I have NOT encountered this on here thankfully as this pertains to the roleplaying games I used to play) was trying to RP with people who do not read. No, I am not talking about not reading rules or biographies or anything of that nature. I was happy if they bothered to actually read the RP post at all! So what happened if my character said something? It was ignored half the time. What if they said something that isn’t posed as an exclamation or question? It was especially ignored with no verbal or physical acknowledgement and no acknowledgment from the context. Often what was acknowledged was later forgotten or messed up. I may have as well have not written anything at all. These people would monologue about their characters and negate any attempts of my character to interact with theirs, even if they were the ones who asked to RP.
To make matters more complicated these people would make excuses for their characters to abruptly travel across the map and leave me sitting there confused as to what I should do next. It was like a lot of these people had an expectation that, like in the case of a group roleplay, that I could just let the character wander to someone else. But even if I ignored the fact my character would be miffed at being treated like this, this frequently happened in roleplays involving ONE other person aside from myself. What is my character supposed to do? Sit and monologue too? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a roleplay? I LOVE hearing about other people’s characters and some of the background they themselves may not readily share and monologues are great in moderation but they don’t have to be handled this way. Characters are able to think and express thought and emotion while still being absorbed in what is in front of them. People don’t have one-track minds and neither do characters. They can sit there and think for example “Oh no I left my jacket at so-and-so’s house and speaking of jackets what on earth is that person even wearing that’s talking to me?” while still working on something or talking to another character. Characters are also able to leave for short periods of time but why would anyone let their character get up and walk out at the very beginning of the RP for an unspecified (and potentially long) length of time that isn’t for the sake of some sort of plot or build up to something or without either giving a heads up to the other mun? I don’t understand it but I am very glad I have not to deal with this in a very long time. As for advice for avoiding it, I don’t really have any. —CraftyShadowKitten))

☠ : Opinion on death
Send me symbol for my muse’s opinion:
☠ : Opinion on death
((Before Lanetic readily understood how Narayla as a world operates so to speak, she was far more worried about dying than she is later in her character arc. Originally, Lanetic did not want to go on the first journey to find the elemental orbs at all. It wasn’t until after it was proven she was not a guardian and that her brother died that she decided to continue after her first trip out on her own. By the time she’s working under Fios, Lanetic is far more relaxed, almost careless. Mostly it’s because at that point, it hardly matters whether she’s dead or alive and unless killed by an outside source (injury disease, etc) she has an infinite lifespan. Even after she died she would still have some sort of solid form and it hardly makes a difference (other than not needing to eat or breathe I suppose). The major thing keeping her in line at that point is an instinctual sense of self preservation, some lingering fear of the unknown, and avoiding pain. However, there is one more factor. Seeing as not everyone she lives with has this luxury and will ultimately turn into a spirit of some kind when they die, her contact with them after that may limited. She isn’t sure about any of this. Not to mention, all of her friends and neighbors do not have the eternal youth that she does. Assuming her mate Atlas were to live well into his golden years, that only gives her around thirteen years to spend with him. Then she’ll be alone again. The same is true if she had any children. Generations would come and go and leave their mother behind. —CraftyShadowKitten))

[ ♛ ] send me a url and i’ll tell you the following;
my opinion on;
character in general: I actually don’t know a whole lot about Ratchet and Clank? Minor things, yes but not enough to say I am completely familiar with the character. I’m more familiar with the platforming predecessor, Spyro. ^_^; So there isn’t a whole lot for me to say here other than, I’m reading up on him. LOLhow they play them: Refer to the first part above.the mun: Easy going and funny as well from what I can gather. We haven’t talked much at all but the stuff I’ve seen thus far on the dashboard appears to suggest such. -Shrug- :)

character in general: In Skyward Sword (since this is the one game I’ve played with him in it), the long story made short is this guy is CREEPY. Underline creepy. Now underline it with a marker. There we go. A very well constructed character underneath the creepy but still very creepy so its not necessarily IN YOUR FACE creepy but still creepy. …I think I used that word at least five or more times by now SO you get it. Enough about that.how they play them: If I HAD to be brief about it I would say this is basically Ghirahim from the canon. There’s certainly been some changes (though they’ve only been for the better in my opinion) but this is probably as close to (and I hate using this word) “accurate” as you’re going to get. I say I don’t like using the word because I don’t think there’s such thing as a wrong interpretation of a character BUT if someone was looking for one that’s fairly close to the canon source, well, you found it.
What isn’t already in the canon has been expanded upon a lot. This person’s writing is impressive. Honestly, I don’t know why the mun was worried about sending their URL in because have you seen this writing? I like that there’s a tone and thought in the context of the text. Not a whole of “he said this” and “he did that”. Sure, that’s there too but the thought process is explained THROUGH the writing itself. There’s a number of dimensions to this character that the mun has explored that the source material didn’t bother with and honestly it’s hard not to be amazed by that too.
the mun: I haven’t talked to them a whole lot but they seem very kind and as far as writing stuff, they are very easy-going.

my opinion on;
character in general: I’ve seen a lot more out of Laine that I have Zane so I may focus on her. She’s a well-rounded character and makes for a nice foil for Zane (Gotta love the opposite-twin thing, right?). However its not a perfect example of a foil and that’s what makes it awesome. It makes each of the two twins as individuals and not very predictable in terms of behavior.how they play them: Give the mun a scenario and one of the twins will find their way there. I don’t care what it is, they will find themselves in it fit right into it. That, I think, takes a great deal of talent. There are plenty of characters that can’t just be put “anywhere” without some need of a better explanation, rhyme, or reason. the mun: They’re nice from what I can tell. I admit we haven’t talked a whole lot. Definitely seems like an approachable person though. ^_^
do i;

slaps in me url ;)
[ ♛ ] send me a url and i’ll tell you the following;
my opinion on;
character in general: I really like that this character has had some folklore elements added to him. He’s extremely flexible in terms of what scenarios he can find himself in (as well literally like, have you seen him change height for goodness sake?) His entire makeup teeters somewhere between something like uncanny valley and simply unpredictable.how they play them: Consistently. This is a character who has a LOT of room to do a lot of things but I can tell you from our thread, to other people’s threads/memes, there is a consistency with which this character is roleplayed and it is amazing. For a character who’s moral alignment is not even to close to 100% sound and may change motive from one minute to this, that is very impressive.And….
Humorously. Aside from some of the awful dark humor that Coyote may find himself having, there’s just a sort of comical way in which he’s written on this blog. There’s still a sense of tense uncertainty given it’s hard to say what Coyote is going to do next but the fact that there is a frequent breath of fresh air not only helps but also adds to the suspense should his behavior take another sharp turn in another direction.the mun: Awesome! Very interesting person to chat with too!

character in general: Great move in the Zelda franchise. It may not be the first time something other than Ganon was inserted into the main plot line as a villain but I like what he adds to the story. It shows the Twilight realm as its own place with its own problems and not just another “kingdom in need of saving from the same guy” so to speak. It complicates things in the best way possible.how they play them: This person is NOT someone is who afraid to play a villain AS a villain and I think that is great. I don’t see that around Tumblr as much and more often see other people trying to pressure people with villain characters to turn them nice rather than letting them do that on their own accord. (Why do people do this?) The character is intimidating and the mun RPs them in such a way it doesn’t really deviate from what somebody could expect out of a Zant.the mun: Very nice! And as an added note I enjoy talking to them about a lot of character/story element related stuff. They have some interesting thoughts about that kind of stuff.
