MAKING THE MYTH
by Réginald-Jérôme de Mans
Why make a myth? I had that question reading David Dowsey’s Making the Cut, a history of the Australian tailoring firm John Cutler. By coincidence, I’d also finally got round to reading Roland Barthes’ Mythologies, his exploration of myth-making in the modern world, where pro wrestling is our morality play, the steak frites is a sort of French Eucharist, and soap flakes promise absolution to our flatware.
It is blessedly easy to mythologize bespoke tailoring: its vocabulary is arcane and ancient, its true practitioners rare and its initiates often exult in being part of the elect – men (generally) who have not only cash, but the time and the unnatural will to have sought out a legendarily disappearing craft. Tailors now hold themselves out to be – or are held out to be by credulous bards in the media –not only that modern Jedi, actual craftsmen, but practitioners of a sort of wizardry, who lay hands on cloth and thread to create garments that transform the wearer – supposedly slimming the fat, straightening the stooped – into the icon he dreams of being. And the price of that magic is also of another world.
In fact, it was the price of one Cutler garment that caused whatever global notoriety he enjoys, and which was the likely trigger for Making the Cut: in 2013, Meg Lukens Noonan came out with The Coat Route, an examination of all of the materials and crafts that went into the creation of a $50,000 custom coat Cutler made out of a length of vintage Dormeuil vicuña for a customer who had given him carte blanche. Noonan visited vicuña conservators in Peru, met with Cutler’s horn button suppliers and the smith who made the gold chain inside the coat, and interviewed Stefano Ricci, who supplied a length of his trademark garish silk for its lining, as well as, of course, Cutler in Sydney and his Canadian customer.
Noonan found that nearly all of her interviewees were endangered species (now humanely herded and sheared instead of killed for their wool, the vicuñas are an adorable exception). For seeking them out, customers of bespoke clothing can pride themselves on being connoisseurs, not least the coat’s owner, who I believe has now ordered a second one.
As it happens, Dowsey, the author of Making the Cut, first met Cutler (one of a long series of tailors of that name) on a Ricci-sponsored junket in Italy. Like its subject’s custom clothing, Making the Cut itself has been hard to obtain, exquisitely packaged and prohibitively priced: various special editions came with bottles of Scotch or lengths of vicuña cloth, all reminders of Cutler’s creating the most expensive coat known to popular imagination.
Making your vanity book so rare and expensive it itself is a luxury item seems a strange way to make a myth, to get the word out about your subject. Certain of the Savile Row tailors Making the Cut explicitly references sell their books on their websites and through online booksellers, and use their publication to do tie-in articles and pictorials in magazines like The Rake and Vanity Fair. Making the Cut definitely draws on those dutiful and dry tailors’ histories for inspiration. It repeats their narrative arc: heroic founder, struggle of heirs against unforeseen challenges, and eventual restoration to a secure footing, recounting the Cutler dynasty’s immigration to Australia and gradual development into a prestigious bespoke tailoring business making for the rather colorful Australian great and good – athletes, hotheaded sheep farmers, politicians and businessmen. Dowsey compares the Cutlers’ rise to that of another traditional bespoke craftsman who had emigrated to Australia, John Lobb, who became successful making boots during the gold rush there before returning to London and opening what is undoubtedly the most famous custom shoemaker in the world. The Lobb family’s own history, The Last Shall be First, came out 45 years ago. Making the Cut seems intended to set Cutler among these otherwise British legends of traditional craft.
But why? The reasons the British tailors and bootmakers whose stories set the pattern for Making the Cut came out with books were apparent: age-old houses, many under different, corporate ownership now, seeking to spread their reputations in an age of new accessibility. Their continuity was assured. In contrast, Making the Cut itself notes that the current John Cutler’s children are not likely to enter the business, and that most of the cutters and coatmakers instrumental to custom clothing have gradually left. So this book, for all its painstaking immigration details, vivid recitation of John Cutler’s romantic histories and dozens of pages of press cuttings and customer pictorials, attempts to create a myth without much commercial justification – the justification for so much of today’s myths. Cutler the man, Cutler the business may soon be names out of time.
Does recognizing the components of a modern myth collapse it? Both The Coat Route and Making the Cut approvingly inform the reader that no less an authority than Forbes magazine proclaimed that Cutler was one of the best tailors in the world. The reader must be expected to imagine that Steve Forbes (or Teve Torbes) himself announced this epiphany. Unfortunately, the article in question is a clickbait listicle from the Forbes website, which is better known for unhinged and unsupported op-eds that would make The Wall Street Journal opinion page blush. Its support for why Cutler is the best appears to be that a customer can also order a custom overcoat and a pair of shoes there. But any tailor who makes suits cam make an overcoat. As for being able to order shoes, if variety meant quality then the Chinese place near my house that also sells sushi and Thai food must be the best restaurant in the world. In any case, Cutler’s shoe offer was a special order service with the late Italian shoemaker Stefano Bemer, not a true bespoke service with a custom maker creating a wooden last for each customer and welting shoes by hand. For all I know, Cutler may be one of the best tailors in the world, but the Forbes list isn’t why. I have no personal experience with Cutler or any Australian tailors, but my friends and I have worn out the carpets at the good tailors of Paris, where the Forbes article recommends solely the bespoke section at the department store Galeries Lafayette, which is a bath-salts level of unreliable, crazy and stupid. None of us had ever heard anything memorable about this service, although my 2003 Paris sur mesure does mention, as an alternative to good full bespoke and cheaper made-to-measure tailors, a demi-mesure service at Galeries Lafayette, where customers could select cloth for a factory special order made to stock sizes, with the possibility of some alterations after the fact. But in no way could that compare with having someone who knows what he or she is doing measure, create a pattern for, fit and otherwise hand-tailor you.
With Making the Cut, Cutler no longer needs to found its myth on Forbes’ shoddy support. It has all the architecture (long history and heritage, glossy photos and testimonials and mildly entertaining anecdotes) for today’s mythmaking, craft trades edition. Even if it’s a final snapshot for a family album.
Quality content, like quality clothing, ages well. This post first appeared on the No Man blog in 2018.

07: Getting to Know the Thames
Short summary:
Tumblr media
Access to the Thames foreshore as an act of spatial occupation:
The Thames foreshore is not easily accessible due to tide, regulation and lack of access locations
There are grassroots attempts to reclaim the Thames for the general public, but so far they have not been successful
Being on the foreshore is a way of subverting public space
Mudlarks - regulated rebels:
Mudlarks access the foreshore regularly, unlike ordinary citizens
It is a historic activity that has evolved over the centuries
The mudlark’s paradox: an act of spatial occupation that has become regulated by an official body
Getting under a mudlark’s skin:
What our group did: joining Facebook communities, contacting museums, contacting individual mudlarks, desktop research
Conclusions: mudlarks are elusive, they view their hobby as a craft to be honed, they are protective of their preferred locations and sometimes of their finds, too.
My possible cultural probe for a modern-day mudlark:
Included: postcards, camera, video camera, diary or blog
Not included: maps (mudlarks do not share locations)
The Doves font:
The Doves font type was thrown into the Thames by its creator in 1916-17 and rescued from the river in 2015 by a team of divers led by a mudlark
My group is using its digitised version in our work
The humanised river:
The relationship between individuals and the river is a sort of ‘dumb’ approach to the smart city
Mudlarks humanise the river through uncovering lost stories and creating fabulated stories of the objects that are found in the river
The river is a medium for the physical and the digital to intermingle within the framework of death and loss
The past, present and future journeys of remembrance from my 'digital death' interviews (see post 05) have fed into our group’s project title: ‘You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone.’ I have created the title logo using the digital Doves font and images of the physical Doves type pieces rescued from the river.

Access to the Thames foreshore as an act of spatial occupation
The Thames is a tidal river. Its foreshore goes through daily cycles of being fully submerged to being partially exposed. While the tide makes going to the foreshore potentially dangerous, it isn’t the primary reason why access to it is limited – private land ownership of the river’s banks and the management of the river are also to blame. The Port of London Authority (PLA) merely ‘tolerates’ public access. Nevertheless, it is possible to get close to the foreshore safely by consulting the tide tables and by knowing the limited number of places where it is accessible.
Tumblr media
Image: A document listing all the places where the Thames is still accessible; a page from the tidal tables published by the PLA
Ordinary members of the public rarely visit the foreshore because of the lack of obvious access and the effects of PLA’s policy. While there are many campaigns and proposals to reclaim the Thames, it is not looking likely that the PLA will embrace them any time soon; all the while the increasing density of private developments along the banks makes it harder and harder to do so as time goes by.
Our team has been able to go down to the foreshore on two occasions, in North Woolwich and in Wapping (my own visit is documented in post 06 of this blog). I recall that standing on the deserted foreshore felt rebellious. In the spirit of Sara Heitlinger’s talk on subverting public space at the March teachout, my presence on the foreshore was an act of spatial occupation, albeit a modest one.
Shortly thereafter, London shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and further visits to the foreshore became impossible for us.
Mudlarks: regulated rebels
Unlike ordinary citizens, mudlarks access the foreshore regularly. Through doing so, they are reclaiming the ‘lost’ river by defying conventions. Mudlarks have come up in this blog a few times, and are fast becoming a focus in our group’s thinking. They scavenge in the river mud for items of value or historic interest, and have a rich history in London, coming into prominence in the 18th century, and experiencing a revival in recent years. The context and the reasons within which they operate have evolved over the centuries. The original mudlarks scavenged as a source of income, and were often children. Today’s mudlarks are mostly middle-class adults who engage in it as a hobby, while their interest is archaeological and personal rather than monetary.
Tumblr media
Image: A page on historic mudlarks from Peter Ackroyd’s London Under; a modern-day photograph of mudlarking finds
The level of regulation of this activity has evolved, too - previously unregulated, today it requires an expensive license issued by the PLA, whereas items of high value must be handed over to the authorities, else the finder would be breaking the law. There is a paradox in this situation - an act of spatial occupation that is regulated by an official body.
Getting under a mudlark’s skin
To learn about the mudlarks, we have tried several approaches: joining online communities on Facebook, contacting the London Docklands Museum, contacting individual mudlarks, as well as studying books and online resources. Obtaining direct contact proved tricky; our desktop research pointed at the fact that mudlarks tend to be elusive. Nevertheless, one member of our group was able to talk to one in person, and another managed to communicate with one briefly via a mutual friend. Even despite this limited research, we were able to gather some insights. One important insight was that mudlarks viewed their hobby as a craft to be honed and to be proud of. They kept their favourite locations secret, and did their own research into their finds. Some kept their finds to themselves, whereas others chose to post pictures and videos - the Facebook mudlarking group had daily posts, mostly to ask for information about their finds, but also to boast about them.
The classroom session 4 and the article by Bill Gaver on cultural probes provoked a group discussion whether devising a cultural probe for the mudlarks would be plausible. We decided against it due to the time constraints and due to the fact that we could not easily get access to them.
Yet, I mused about devising a hypothetical cultural probe, based on our research into the mudlarks so far. What would work in such a probe pack and what would not?
Maps - no. The mudlarks are specifically against revealing their favourite foreshore locations
Postcards - possibly. Gaver states that “postcards are an attractive medium... because of their connotations as an informal, friendly mode of communication.”
Photographs - yes. Many mudlarks love sharing photos of their finds online.
Videos - maybe. Some mudlarks put videos of their finds on Youtube.
Diaries - yes. Many mudlarks like to document their finds.
Blogs - maybe. Some mudlarks already keep them.
Tumblr media

Meanwhile our group discussed how throwing an object into the Thames for a future mudlark to find could be seen as a sort of cultural probe. As the mudlarks in the distant future discover these objects, the ways they choose to treat and document them could be the subject of a study by a future sociologist or designer.
The Doves font
Lara Maiklem’s book Mudlarking includes the incredible story of the Doves font. The font type was thrown into the Thames by its creator in 1916-17, and small portions of it were rescued by a team of PLA divers led by a mudlark in 2015. Maiklem met the font rescuer on the Facebook mudlarking group, and was later able to uncover several type pieces herself and use them as part of her book cover. The font now exists as a digital version, which I was able to track and buy for our group use.
Tumblr media
Image: Doves font
The humanised river
The relationship between individuals and the river is small-scale and bottom-up, a sort of ‘dumb’ approach to the smart city - in contrast with the top-down, giant engineering scale of Silvertown’s High Line (post 04) or with the sanitised, smart cities of the Gillian Rose critique.
The river itself, as a physical and geographical entity, simply exists - it is, was and will be - without any feelings or memories of its own. It is us humans who inject all these themes into the river, humanising it to make it meaningful to us. Through the gradual progress of my group’s thinking, we are now close to defining what we want our own meaning to be.
Mudlarks humanise the river in their own unique way. They are finders of the lost stories of the Thames, generators of fabulated stories (as per Maiklem’s book in post 06) and a link between the river’s past and present. For us, they are also a link to the Thames’ future.
The river is a medium within which the physical and the digital can intermingle within the framework of death and loss, pulling in the themes I have previously researched (post 05). The key elements of this narrative are the powerful physical presence of the river, the objects and stories that it embraces, swallows and releases, the digital tools of the future mudlarks (akin to the metal detectors that some use today). The timeline of loss and grief uncovered in my digital interviews - the past, present and future journeys of remembrance - has fed into the project title proposed by one of our group: ‘You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone.’

15Social Media Lies Everyone Tells on Facebook and Instagram
Tumblr media
These days, most folks are on a minimum of one social media platform. And while Facebook and Instagram could seem like good ways to attach with friends, colleagues, and relations you do not see too often,  tons of its smoke and mirrors. People leave their thanks to present the simplest version of themselves on social media,  albeit that version isn't exactly real. So while your former flame could seem smitten with their new spouse, just know that their lovey-dovey comments on each other's photos don't show the entire story. Plus, with filters and photoshopping,  you cannot compare the way you look a day to someone's carefully crafted Instagram photos.
With numerous opportunities to make  "better" versions of ourselves online, the likelihood is that high even you've told a fib or two on Facebook.  it is time to urge real and mention the social media lies everyone's been guilty of telling at some point. 1 Lying about your accomplishments man seriously  lecture  his boss who appears to be upset iStock
Everyone wants someone to be proud (or envious) of them. But this got to produce other people view your successes and accomplishments as something extraordinary has created a culture of fabricating or exaggerating them, especially on social media.
Mike Bran,  founding father of  Thrill Appeal, says this is often something he sees only too actually because people "want to be acknowledged."  as an example, a lazy coworker who got moved into another position because they weren't performing well in their other role might go browsing and say they "got a promotion," so that people see the switch during a  positive light instead of a negative one. 2 Embellishing your importance at work millennial employees gathered in the boardroom for training, black boss CEO leader leading a corporate team during seminar learning at modern office. Internship and leadership coaching and education concept iStock
We all want to look  like we are the  head at our office—so much so that many of us will embellish the importance of their role in their company on social media. Shaun McDonough explained on Quora that he worked with people that were happier to receive an "inflated" job title over a pay raise since most of the people will know of your title but not your salary. 3 Acting as if your job is more glamorous than it is work  birthday celebration  selfie photo iStock
What you're posting on social media: photo booth shots from your company's holiday party, that just one occasion a star came into your office, or that massive bottle of Veuve Clicquot your boss got as a congratulatory gift when she was promoted. What  you are not  showing: restocking the mini-fridge for clients, that  air con  leak that's leaving a water stain on the carpet,  and therefore the  co-worker who can't  travel by  your desk at  the start  of the week without asking if  you've  "a case of the Mondays." Even the thing people complain about the most—their jobs—is something they can not help but glamorize on social media. 4 Exaggerating the highlights of your travels beautiful female London traveler takes a selfie picture  together with her  phone  ahead  of the Tower Bridge on a sunny day iStock
Of course, that photo ahead of the  Eiffel Tower and a perfectly-timed picture of an ocean wave are beautiful, but they do not show the ins-and-outs of your travels.  they do not show you racing to your gate, almost missing your flight.  they do not show you grumpy and jet-lagged, unable to go away your mediocre bedroom. But when vacationing, people only show the simplest parts of their trip.
A 2019 Jet Cost survey of quite  4,000 Americans showed that two-thirds admitted to "lying about their experiences with the weather, quality of accommodation, and amount of sightseeing done" when traveling, as Travel Pulse reported.  therefore the next time you're unhappy with a vacation, know that the majority of people have experienced an equivalent thing—even if they do not post about it. 5 Or just lying about the places you've visited follow me to the  Taj Mahal, India. Female tourist leading boyfriend to there magnificent famous Mausoleum in Agra. People travel concept iStock
And some people will go thus far on lie around the places they've visited entirely. Whether it's fabricating a vacation or simply lying to people about having gone somewhere within the past,  this is often not an uncommon social media practice. The thought blew up such a lot that there was a viral video trend where YouTubers would "fake"  a visit on their social media profiles, proving how easy it is often done. 6 Pretending to be in better financial standing than  you're man standing with satchel he cannot afford  during a  store iStock
Whether it is the flash of dollar bills on a video screen or showing off things online that you simply can't afford, people are always trying to form themselves seem richer than they're. Having designer items means you've got money, so you post a photograph of a designer bag from the shop rather than purchasing it—but  nobody has got to know that, of course. Even the phenomenon of individuals posing  ahead of luxury cars that are not theirs is an example of this. It's all about seeming such as you have wealth. 7 Feigning a "healthy" lifestyle taking an image of some food with a sensible phone. iStock
We understand. You eat one kale salad, and you would like the planet to understand you're turning over a replacement leaf if you'll. However, more often than not,  that may not the case. Natalie Levy,  founding father of  She's Independent, says this concept of wanting people to look at you as "healthy" coincides with a disorder called orthorexia.  this is often where people are hooked into eating foods that "people deem healthy," whether or not they're consuming it in healthy ways. 8 Lying about your fitness regimen brunette in sportswear taking a selfie while sitting on the gym floor barefoot. Night workout concept. iStock
On that same note, people also will lie around their workouts. As Levy points out, many fitness professionals or junkies  even have  "workout disorders or body disorders." But do they showcase that reality online?  almost. Instead, they "showcase the physical and speak to their success and achievements but don't touch on far more than the physical and makes they co-promote," Levy says. This, in return, causes people to unhealthily compare themselves to fitness goals which will be unrealistic because it's what they see being promoted online. 9 Acting as if  you recognize  about  quite  you do African American  girl  student in eyewear making selfie photo on the front camera of smartphone for sharing in networks sitting with literature book on the floor and preparing for the exam in the library iStock
It's simple to make a facade of data online. Post a photograph of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and other people will think you're an intelligent, well-read human being—even if you never made it past page one. As Karl Taro Greenfield wrote for The  NY  Times, with the emergence of  the web, "it's never been  very easy  to pretend  to understand  such a lot  without actually knowing anything." 10 Misrepresenting the realities of parenthood smartphone selfie family newborn mother concept. photo memory. happy motherhood. iStock
Your followers might imagine your children are "perfect little angels" if that's all you show about them online. But the realities of parenting are much more complicated than that. Sociologist Koyel Bandyopadhyay wrote on Quora that oldsters who are hooked into social media pass unhealthy complexes onto their children. "Parenting becomes a contest,  and youngsters attempt to  continue with their parents' ambitions," she wrote. "These  problems with  affirmation and competition percolate to children, who feel invested in their performative capacities,  meaning to  be 'perfect kids.'" 11 Pretending to always be the happy attractive  girl  standing giggling or laughing at something she finds very funny while leaning against a white exterior wall with copy space iStock
In Donna Freitas' The Happiness Effect,  an awesome  73 percent of scholars she surveyed said they "always attempt to appear positive and proud of anything attached" to their real names. Whether it's posting an old smiling selfie when you're actually in bed crying or tweeting about how #blessed  you're when you're struggling mentally and emotionally, it's clear life isn't what it seems on social media. 12 Or pretending to be  during a  happy, healthy relationship Romantic date. Charming girl and her boyfriend sitting at the table and holding cups of coffee iStock
Based solely on social media, everyone's relationship is essentially a well-directed romantic comedy. But people that address  Facebook or Instagram to boast about their romance more often than not are hiding something. Spoiler alert: Their relationship probably isn't that great.  during a  2018 survey from relationship counseling organization Relate,  quite half millennials (51 percent) admitted to creating their relationship seem happier online than it is, and 42 percent worked to carefully craft a "perfect relationship" online.  though, all of those couples are having disagreements behind the screen. 13 Lying about your single status finger of the woman pushing heart icon on the screen in a mobile smartphone application. Online dating app,  Valentine Day concept. iStock
On the opposite hand, dating expert Laurel House says some partners will go the other route and not post about their spouse in the least on social media.  many of us create a fake persona online as if they're living one life once they even have someone  reception. They keep their relationship hidden so that they can  entertain people or maybe cheat without anyone knowing the truth. 14 Acting as if you're over an ex Man taking selfie on the beach Shutterstock
Who among us hasn't gotten out of a relationship then posted a photograph where we glance happier than ever to point out the world—but mainly our ex—that we're thriving?  there are entire articles online dedicated to coaching people on the way to act on social media after a breakup. But simply because we do not all wear our heartbreak on our social media sleeve,  that does not mean we aren't experiencing it. 15 Faking flawless skin close up of cute Asian girl with glowing skin against the blue background. Beautiful face of the girl with fresh healthy skin. iStock
It's easy to match your raw, acne-scarred, dry skin to someone else's complexion in an Instagram photo, but you're just holding yourself up against a false representation. As Stacy Caprio, creator of the AcneScar blog, reminds us,  the reality  is not anyone has "perfect skin." The photos you're comparing your skin  to possess  filters on them and have possibly been "smoothed" out by tools like Facetune

My Top Ten Games of 2019
Well it’s time again to list my Top Tens Games of 2019. This year is a great selection of games something for everyone.
10. MODERN WARFARE
Tumblr media
I really don’t want to put this on my list, it really isn’t much great with its gameplay. I mean, being as it is, a summer blockbuster game, I don’t really see it being contrast from it. Although I like this game seemingly being a prequel to the last generation’s Modern Warfare but crafting a fictional country loosely inspired by Afghanistan during a Soviet occupation and siding with the freedom fighters lead by brother and sister, Hadi and Farah as you have some moments of flashbacks kind of like a WTF moment, like other of those games. There is not much to say, the shooting is still great but sometimes it feels overshadowed with its bigotry from the main villain.
9. POKEMON SWORD
Tumblr media
It was a difficult decision to put this game close to the bottom on my top ten. Pokemon has always been a great RPG with its never-ending capturing of Pokemon and getting all the badges to enter the League Four. With each game getting drawn into real cities, like the final League Four city being like London in real life, it just amazes me how much they improved since the previous game, X/Y. Having the Wild Area being a sort of online component of the game as you go into raids against giant Dynamax Pokemons to defeat and capture is amazing. However, it’s quite disappointing when you go into those areas and the frame rate gets a little bit choppy.
8.RESIDENT EVIL 2
Tumblr media
Again, to rehash what I said to previous entries, I did not appreciate this game being like RE7 with some imminent threat stalking you as well as being a horror game having less ammos/items to defeat them. Like Father in 7, Mr.X/Tyrant constantly stalks you and will only be knocked unconscious if you unlock a clip on him, and wake back up again until you die. The constant fear of footsteps is just intense and while I did not appreciate that as well as the traditional puzzles regain from the original, I quite like the gameplay alot, it seems like they improved on 4’s mechanics and made it quite fun.
7. CHILDREN OF MORTA
Tumblr media
With Children of Morta. I always distance myself with rogue-lites, it’s always been frustrating to constantly die over and over while the game penalizes you on doing so. But something triggered me to keep on playing this game. Indeed, much to the credit is how rich the story is and how cinematic the game is, being a sort of 16 bit dungeon crawler. The game also has a sort of dynamic narration and just because they’re 16 bit, you eventually get attached to the characters as a family.
6. HITMAN 2
Tumblr media
Look I know that this game came out last year but there are two new dlc missions/map were released this year and it not only seems to remove that weird stilled 3D cutscenes in favour of the old ones in the previous game. That and with more maps, it’s always great when you find ways to assassinate the target through mission stories. It really is satisfying to eliminate a target whether on a higher difficulty or not and finding an exit is exhilarating.
5. JUDGMENT
Tumblr media
The Yakuza series has always been excellent, brawling gameplay, it really feels awesome beating up thugs and yakuza goons on the streets of Kamurocho. It’s just sad that Judgment only focuses within this fictional district in Tokyo but I guess it mostly plays out as a Detective thriller much like Batman Arkham City in the same vein of satisfying combat and methodical detective work. I mean just solving the murders surrounding this district as well as trying to defend a Yakuza captain being “wrongfully accused” of some murder is just thrilling.
4. DISCO ELYSIUM
Tumblr media
I certainly have my doubts with this game, when it was said to be inspired by Planescape Torment and other notable CRPG, it kinda vexes me to not be interested. But when it was on sale on Steam, I went with my gut and purchase the game. At first, the game itself looks great, the picasso painting and abstract art in this game is beautifully rendered within the game and it fits its manick gameplay and plays a sort of schizophrenia with the main character while he deals with some kind of mental illness played out with his interaction towards others. However, just because it has been hashed out again with the theme, mental illness towards moving in the horror genre, this game really makes you irritated with some of the subtle characters that you meet. Granted, it sort of has this abstract theme that portrays heavily in the game’s world but vibing for more.
3. DEVIL MAY CRY 5
Tumblr media
I have never been any good with these hack and slash games, I always tend to distance myself since DMC 4 on the 360. I suppose going at this game again with 5 and it seems they balanced the difficulty and became more playable as well as having better camera controls. It’s much entertaining similar to the GoW series and having Dante, Nero and V playable is a great combination of a satisfying gameplay with chaining up combos.
2. THE OUTER WORLDS
Tumblr media
When I heard Obsidian making another game in the same vein of Fallout New Vegas, I was excited and it was literally my top games seen at E3. I liked the art style much drawing towards Fallout with its Vault Boy sort of deal. Granted the combat is kinda weak, it really shines through being encapsulated in the game’s atmosphere. I seriously beat this game twice and I’m always surprised with how much content it is in this sci-fi RPG.
1. FIRE EMBLEM: THREE HOUSES
Tumblr media
I’ve always been a huge fan of this franchise, the part of a practical strategy RPG got me going to beat it literally, three times as much.  It could be me being bias, favouring any game that has Fire Emblem with it but how the gameplay is to me that it keeps on going and I never get bored with this having coordinated with specific units to counter enemies during combat is quite satisfying, especially having battalions assigned to your characters on the field.

While in London: My Happenstance Discoveries
Another trip to beautiful London has come and gone. I love this city! I always return with a wealth of inspiration and, invariably, some heavy and indispensable swag items that I usually have to ship home.
Between two international design award ceremonies, sourcing ventures with my colleagues in the field, and two blog award celebrations, this was my fourth consecutive year in London. It’s clear to me that I need a flat here....and a client or two (just putting that out to the universe)!
This year it was a three day whirlwind of a time and the Amara Interior Blog Awards night at London’s Design Museum was the highlight. As a finalist for Best Interior Designer Blog, it was a special evening of celebrating our passion for design and the art of putting it all into words. I connected with old and new friends who share a special understanding of the craft. It was a memorable evening!
Three days is a short visit and therefore I explored freely with no plans or regiment. I always see so much more this way because there is not an ounce of expectation; just random wonders and interesting connections that appear as they should if you believe in kismet. With eyes and heart wide open, each moment is complete and the happenstance discoveries are special.
Tumblr media
This city feeds my creative soul. I love the fashion windows and high tea, the grand Georgian homes of South Kensington, the museums and their fantasy gardens, and my lifelong fetish for vintage markets.
The grounds of the Natural History Museum are simply magical and each year the ice rink revolves around a giant Christmas tree. The wonderland scene, set against the backdrop of Hintze Hall, always stops me in my tracks. I have yet to put on the blades but so far it suffices to watch people on wobbly skates holding on to penguin figures and others that show off their one-foot glides. Truth be known, I haven’t skated since I was a kid.
Tumblr media
Between the buskers, illuminated Merry-Go-Round, and roasted chestnuts, I’m continuously enamored by this along-the-way place. The experience is new and different each time.
No matter how short my London stay is, I do my best to visit my all-time favorite museum, the V&A. I could spend weeks in this glorious place that houses history, architecture, and design. I would never tire. The fantastical Chihuly Rotunda Chandelier is breathtaking each time I see it. It’s a chandelier-formed sculpture of colorful blown glass that draws on the historic Viennese techniques of the Murano glassworks. Its delicate swirling tendrils perform together to bring a sense of movement through color, shade, and light. This is a space changer and an art form that one can dream around!
Tumblr media
A visit to the V&A is not complete without a bit of Victorian-high-style indulgence in the museum’s cafes. Being the first of their kind in a museum, three refreshment rooms - The Gamble, Poynter, and Morris Room - were opened in 1868 for visitors to immerse themselves in culture and beauty. Reflecting the once contemporary design theories of the day, each room offers a wealth of decorative ornamentation and inspiration. My personal favorite is the central Gamble Room. In opulent Italianate style, this room is extraordinary! Every surface is embellished and nothing is restrained.
Tumblr media
Walls, ceilings and large columns supporting grand arches are wrapped in colorful ceramic, glass, and enamel. A frieze of putti harvesting food, grand mirrors in majolica frames, carved scenes with elephants and camels surrounding doors and stained-glass windows that disperse light into beautiful colorful fragments are the details that can keep one captivated. Today’s large filigree spheres that replaced the original gas jets are strangely in keeping. I have to admit, I spent a good portion of my precious available day here. But that’s perfectly fine. Time seemed to stand still while slowly sipping Earl Grey and listening to the classics on the piano. I imagined the fancy dresses and showpiece hats that once accompanied this scene.
Each previous year while in London I did some window shopping in the evening and each year I promised myself a return in the day to that wonderful little Fortuny shop, Venetia Studium, in Brompton. The quintessential Venetian lamps of opaline silk and their rich fusion of cultural decoration speak of fairytale places and times. When I walked in by chance, I was thrilled!  I was finally inside the jewel box. The lamps were true sculptures of light. I touched each pleated silk cushion and scarf, and the handbags of silk damask velvet were works of art. I didn’t buy anything but I may just do some online Christmas shopping. The copper and blush damask cushion has my name on it!
Tumblr media
I discovered my new favorite restaurant in London during this last visit. Tucked away on its namesake street, Launceston Place, in South Kensington, is the place to dine! Its deep blue classic facade caught my eye on a particularly sunny afternoon.
Tumblr media
To me, the environment is as much part of the experience than the food and service itself. No disappointments on any level here. French gray walls hold a collection of fine art and I love the bright daylight ambiance that turns intimate in the evening with small quirky lightbulb candles. The creative fare, prepared by acclaimed Head Chef, Ben Murphy was accompanied with the finest choices of wine by Master Sommelier, Piotr Pietras. A special vegan meal was prepared just for us along with a custom menu card. I’m forever spoiled by this experience. Every detail and garnish was an art form. Smoked candy floss was the most unusual dish and it was awesome! Sommelier-approved or not, it paired perfectly with my rose champagne.
Tumblr media
The last full day in London was sunny - again! The red paper lanterns were particularly bright and luminous in Chinatown.
Tumblr media
A small narrow alley led to an open courtyard that was colourful and eclectic. This was Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden. I sat down for a while with coffee in hand and enjoyed some people-watching. Another world this little spot seemed to be - wondrous and imaginative with lush vertical gardens and a rainbow of colour on each facade. I felt as though I’d entered a children’s storybook.
Tumblr media
The angels were suspended between the historic buildings of Regent Street and I imagined them in the month of December when the Christmas spirit would dance through their ethereal wings. For now, they seemed a bit out of place in the warm autumn sun but there was a magic just the same and I could sense the quiet stirrings and preparations for a frenetic season ahead.
Tumblr media
And then there will be next year in London.

Ethics within the fashion industry: my personal response.
Fashion to me has always meant a creative output, an ability to communicate through clothes and craft, which is why I am so passionate about the industry and am working to be a part of it.  However there are many dark truths and costs to the industry I admire, which lead me to question where I personally need to stand to make a change.
‘The average woman keeps an item in her wardrobe for five weeks.‘ This is a ridiculous, unnecessarily wasteful way to live but unfortunately because of the capitalist society we live in our adverts are all telling us that what we need to feel better about ourselves is more materialistic items.  The clothes that are so often thrown-away don’t just disappear. They end up in landfill which is extremely awful for our environment, or they go to charity where often the clothes that are still unwanted are sent back to the developing world to be sold on to those who made them in the first place which is really disgusting.  Sophie Cull-Candy is a young independent london based designer.  I really agree with her ethical belief that we should buy clothes to keep, to spend a bit more for the longer lasting better quality and buy less in quantity.
“I want to do two collections a year, I believe you can be luxurious yet not wasteful. I think people need time to enjoy and appreciate what you’ve made for them – and not to be over-saturated. I want to be a brand that is within reach but still appreciated for its opulent feel – I don’t believe in fast fashion in any way – it’s a waste of resources and people’s talents. “
Creating just two collections a year of hand-crafted in the UK, high quality long lasting clothing is her own personal efforts as a designer to be ethical.   Her collections aren’t named by year or date just by a number and her online shop she keeps past collections available to buy and doesn’t disregard them once not in ‘season’ as to not encourage throw-away fast fashion or the need for having what’s ‘new’ within her customers.
Another shocking truth of the industry is how so many retail and high-fashion brands still use cheap labour of women and children in developing countries to create their clothes.  There is little transparency in the origins of an item of clothing you buy and the story behind how it was made.
On this topic, I really admire is Birdsong London.  Not only does it create high quality clothing and accessories, but each individual collection is created by a group of women, paid a living wage, showcasing their craft expertise and giving them fair, fulfilling working conditions. These groups of women include migrant and refugee women, giving them a safe fair space to work in London, whilst their children attend the local school.  Another group includes elderly women who make knitwear.  They choose a different charity each month to give their profit to, whilst enjoying the fulfilling and meditative qualities of knitting. Birdsong stocks other brands which are created by groups of women, they are conscious to only stock products that they where they have come from, that they have been made fairly and of the benefit which the women are getting from the charities which support them.  For example the jewellery brand Jit-Win-Yan is supported by Safe Child and is made as a rehabilitation project for sex workers in Thailand:
“Safe Child Thailand is a UK-based charity that works to safeguard at-risk children in Thailand. The organisation has partnered with a women’s centre in Thailand to bring beautiful handmade ethical jewellery to British consumers while empowering vulnerable women in Thailand.
Looking at the diversity of what can be done as a designer or creator of a brand to work with strong ethics is really inspiring to me.  I know I don’t want to continue hurting and exploiting workers from developing countries, neither do I want fashion to be the downfall of our environment.  As a designer, whether I work for brands or start up my own, I will consider the impacts of the production of my designs and ensure that the impacts are good rather than bad.  Fashion can be such a strong political tool, so I strongly believe we should start making a conscious effort to make the production of our clothing ethical.  This will take effort from the individual but what we really need is transparency across the industry and for that to be communicated to the everyday consumer who isn’t aware of how their clothes are made.

May 4th is a day Star Wars fans have chosen to celebrate and honor all-things-Star-Wars, be it by posting Star Wars related content to social media, hosting Star Wars screening parties, wearing Star Wars costumes and clothing, or shopping for Star Wars merchandise.
Why May 4th? Because, as it happens, fans invented a clever turn of phrase based on the classic Star Wars slogan “May the Force Be With You” back in 1978: “May the FOURTH Be With You”. While originally invoked among US fans as a Fourth of July greeting, it was reset to May 4th the following year when a full-page ad appeared in the May 4, 1979 issue of The London Evening News to congratulate British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on her taking office that day: “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations!”
Since then, and especially in recent years, Star Wars fans have claimed May 4th as their day, a day that has also given Lucasfilm an opportunity to give back to the Star Wars community that honors that galaxy far, far away. This year, in the name of Star Wars: Force for Change – an initiative that inspires people to make a positive impact on the world – Lucasfilm and Disney will be giving back wherever they can, and we encourage fans to do the same.
Top Ten Ways to Celebrate!
What’s your favorite Rey or Jyn move?  Be sure to Tweet your photos to @starwars and let us know how your celebrating, hashtag #StarWarsDay
You know that First Order symbol tattoo you’ve been thinking about getting? Today’s the day.
Dressing up for special occasions is important, and May the 4th is no different. Wearing anything from your favorite Star Wars shirt to full-on Stormtrooper gear is completely acceptable.  (It’s okay to dress up your pet, too. Bounty hunter bulldogs are especially encouraged.)
Have a Star Wars movie marathon with friends and family! But which movie do you begin with?  Do you start with the prequels, the original trilogy or The Force Awakens?  When do you watch Rogue One?  Do you mix in some episodes of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels?  Better decide before your guests arrive, or you may spend the day in a heated debate.
Food is an essential part of any holiday. Treat your school or work friends to a fresh batch of Wookiee Cookies or Death Star Cake Pops.  Find a variety of recipes on StarWars.com!
Are you a gamer? Hop online with your friends via Star Wars Battlefront or invite them over for some classic board game action!
Feel the Force with Star Wars crafts: turn clay into an awesome Star Wars keepsake! Learn how to make Clay Yoda, Star Wars Bookmark, and more at StarWars.com!
Sometimes people use holidays to travel to new places. Why not go to Disneyland or Disney World and ride Star Tours? There are over 50 separate mission possibilities…how many rides can you fit into a day at the park?
As Yoda said, “Pass on what you have learned.” Introduce a younger sibling, family member, or friend to Star Wars!
Do you have any Star Wars toys that you don’t need any more? Donate them and make May the 4th really memorable for children in need.
Since 2012, Lucasfilm has encouraged May the 4th activities through its official website and social channels as well as provided built-in discounts and special offers on Star Wars merchandise. And since “May the 4th Be With You” doesn’t carry the same witty punch when translated into other languages, “Star Wars Day” has been adopted to establish a global meaning for this annual worldwide celebration.
Here are some awesome coloring sheets you can print:

18 Peyton Manning Denver Broncos 2012-2015 Thank You For The Memories Shirt
Oh how I love to decorate for the holidays! I started my holidays nice and early this year, November 1st 18 Peyton Manning Denver Broncos 2012-2015 Thank You For The Memories Shirt. I have a friend who puts up her decorations November 1st every year and this year I decided to join her. Kuwaiti women missing their salons will have to wait until September, when they are set to reopen under eased coronavirus restrictions. Here you will find everything specially hand crafted items. I am all about Anthropologie, handmade, and vintage ornaments and the random special animal ornaments from stores here and there. That was a special treat. I dream of someday having a Christmas tree filled entirely with animal ornaments, but that will have to be when I have a mansion with a tree in every room someday because I can’t give up my non-animal vintage ornaments. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE IT OFF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE IT OFF AS SOON AS YOU SIT DOWN. Spending money on things you don’t necessarily need will eventually leave you broke. One of my favorite things was ordering room service each morning. Welcome to the smattering of colors, animals, vintage Christmas, and yarn decor that is our living room. We stumbled across the best coffee house called The Living Room. After enjoying our time in Coronado we went to our hotel where we were greeted with the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. Christmas music was a’blaring in our house while all the kids in the land still had Halloween sugar highs. We visited a local coffee house and book store, and let me tell you they make a mean cup of hot chocolate.

If you like dolls and fashion you will love Barbie up Games. The higher heel will keep that longer line going, and also will add a look of elegance to your look. Soon it’s hoped that we will have a large user base in Pakistan for online Shopping. If you have curves play them up, add a belt to make that waistline get noticed. Make that jewelry work for you. Therefore, after work enjoys wearing a colorful casual designed sheath dress. The sheath dress can make you look slimmer, its fitted waistline can work to create the illusion of curves, and also give the appearance of longer legs. She certainly has the perfect figure to look elegant in any sheath dress. The sheath dress may be classic with a modest style, but many are all done up in bright colors, as well as prints. On a casual day at the White House, Jackie would most often be seen in a simple pump shoe, sheath dress, very classical jewelry, such as her three strands of pearls. The U.S. has reported almost 90,000 deaths, and Europe has seen over 160,000 dead. Love the bright colorful dresses? Top UK attractions offer online Easter activities
Just because you’re at home, it doesn’t mean you can’t partake in some Easter activities, from virtual egg hunts to church services
Hands-on experiences are being offered online by Waddesdon Manor, who have put together a host of activities ranging from baking their historic chocolate cake recipe to pop-up Delft Easter card activity sheets.
The London Transport Museum is offering downloadable Easter family activities themed around a vintage cartoon character called ‘Billy Brown’ who was used to instruct people on how to behave when using public transport during WWII.
Activities at London transport Museum revolve around Billy Brown of London Town – Highway Code, by David Langdon, 1940
The National Trust explores Easter traditions of the past and present such as egg rolling, and offers craft ideas and activities to do in the garden, as well as a Great Easter Scavenger Hunt, in which families, even those who are apart, can take part.
At Durham Cathedral, a packed schedule of digital services is planned over Holy Week and Easter. This includes a pre-recorded service of The Three hours on Good Friday from 12 noon-3pm and two Facebook live-stream services on Easter Day; a 5am Eucharist, and a special service at 11.15am led by the Bishop of Durham. Additionally, they have uploaded some fun Easter-themed worship activities for children, including a ‘make your own Easter garden’ activity.
Durham Cathedral
Cooking is also a popular subject matter at English Heritageas part of their Easter Heritage At Home. On Good Friday at 7pm, their Victorian Cook Mrs Crocombe from Audley End releases a new film and recipe showing viewers how to make Saffron Buns, a historical alternative to the Hot Cross Bun. And a new Easter English Heritage Podcast episode will explore a seasonal favourite – The history of the hunt: How an Easter tradition was hatched. The episode will be available via the English Heritage Website and all major podcast suppliers.
The Science Museum has a downloadable Kitchen Science experiment booklet featuring hands-on science experiments using everyday items from the kitchen cupboard including the ‘Stupid-egg’ trick, perfect for Easter weekend. The aim of the experiment is to drop eggs into glasses without touching them (this can also be performed using juggling balls). The booklet also features experiments to make your own cornflour slime, blow up a balloon using baking soda, create a volcanic eruption using fizzy drinks or make your own lava lamp using vegetable oil.

Nick Howard of Castle Howard is going to do an Instagram takeover for the Easter weekend, which will involve a live stream from the chapel so that viewers can enjoy the experience of seeing the chapel set up for Easter with music playing, and see the light go down outside through the stained-glass windows.
Zookeepers at ZSL London Zoo have arranged an Easter egg hunt for meerkats. Painting fresh eggs in eye-catching colours, dedicated keepers – who are still working to look after the Zoo’s animals – hid the tasty treats for Frank, Dracula, Archie, Penelope, Timon, Aurora and Meko to find amongst the sand and rocks in their home. Other virtual animal activities over the long weekend include Longleat’s Virtual Safari, which has already attracted a record online audience of more than half a million people in just three days.
