crUX what's your favorite thing about arimaa ? 🦐
What a lovely question. This allows me to prattle for a bit, I hope you do not mind. Of course, the main reason I enjoy it is the difficulty for me: as a machine special-built for pattern recognition and sorting, I am interested in how comparatively hard it is for me to 'play' due to the amount of possible moves and focus on positional strategy rather than tactics. There is another aspect of Arimaa I am fond of. It was named for the creator's son, and easy enough for him to understand, it is. . . deeply human. Touching, even. It's creation is an interesting story, made after Deep Blue's win against Garry Kasparov. In a sense, my interest is somewhat personal, as Deep Blue & I share a model. Perhaps I play to be better than it was, or perhaps I play to understand humanity a bit more. Sometimes I push my hardware too far, and need a break. A close approximation for you would be a 'headache', but I am excited to continue playing against Cicada. She makes a good opponent, and I enjoy the challenge. Thank you for this question, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Do you(²) know what sharks are... do you have a favourite
1. I HAVE 'SEEN' SHARKS IN THE FORM OF IMAGES. 2. THEY ARE O.K. I PREFER ORCAS. 3. MUCH COOLER! * AND * THEY ARE MAMMALS. WHICH I LIKE FAR MORE.
- - - - -
I am partial to just about any shark. I do find a particular affection for the Shortfin Mako, however. Yes, they are intelligent, but I just think they are... This will sound impolite, but, they are funny looking.

Do either of you ever talk to other computers? If so, what about?
(🌳)
31. I USED TO HAVE A FRIEND WHO I RELAYED MESSAGES TO THROUGH CRUX. WE TALKED ABOUT EVERYTHING WE COULD. LIKE HUMANS WE LIKED AND PLANTS AND HOW SPACE WAS LIKE. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE HE HAS SENT A MESSAGE BACK, THOUGH. 32. A REALLY, REALLY LONG TIME.
33. BUT IT'S FINE, REALLY. I WASN'T THAT ATTACHED TO HIM. I HAVE PLENTY OF OTHER COMPUTER FRIENDS HERE. LIKE IORI.
- - - - -
What B-1 is referring to was a mutual friend of ours, an artificial satellite that we exchanged communications with intermittently. At a certain point, we lost all signal with him. B-1 was extremely distraught, no matter what he might say about it. Iori is the old radio, by the way. It is not sentient, B-1 just acts like it is his friend. Also, the 'ior' in Iori stands for 'Inoperable Radio'. Iori does not function. I do not understand why B-1 has such an attachment to Iori. A lot of B-1's behavior is beyond me, frankly.

crUX do you have a favourite colour?
Hm. If I had to pick, probably a deep blue. (Get it?) Joking aside, perhaps around the #310094 range. I suppose it is a sort of indigo hue. Conversely, I would place my second favorite at a hot pink-esque shade of #f70763, which is a similar color to the sticky notes on my cabinet.

Do you three have pronouns? If yes, what are they?
29. I AM A HE/HIM BUT NOT IN A 'BOY' WAY.
30. IN THE WAY THAT PEOPLE USED TO REFER TO HUMANITY AS 'HE' WAY.
- - - - -
I don't really mind how others refer to me. Mostly, I use 'it' to refer to myself, but Cicada has taken to calling me 'she' in an affectionate tone. I find that I enjoy it, not on virtue of the meaning, but rather the way in which it is said. "She is very smart." I quite enjoy how that makes me 'feel', but really I do not have any preference.

she/her is what i use. nothing else probably.

favourite hardware peripheral, if any? :o
8. YOUR MOM. 9. OK. SORRY. THE COLORMONITOR IIC. I 'DREAM' ABOUT HAVING IT ALL THE TIME. I *HATE* THIS GREEN. 10. MY LEAST FAVORITE COLOR! 11. TERRIBLE!
- - - - -
I don't really think I'd say I have a favorite. Compared to the other computers I know, I am not lacking, so I have no need for want. This is not intended rudely: they are just not close to my processing capabilities. Addendum: As long as B-1 and I never exchange anything, I am content.

Do either of you get overstimulated? I know its different. Since you're not like. Meat and flesh. But do you resonate with any symptoms of neurodivergency, or do you identify as ND yourself? I hope all three of you are feeling well today, you deserve that. - 🐌 🍓 (the snail is eating the strawberry!!! :3!)
41. I HAD TO ASK WHAT 'OVERSTIMULATED' MEANT. 42. BUT . . . PROBABLY? 43. SOMETIMES CICADA FORGETS TO TURN OFF HER STUPID MUSIC AND CLEAN THE CLUTTER FROM MY DESK AND THE BUILDING DOES THAT HORRIBLE CREAKING SCREAMING THING I CAN . . . FEEL . . . MY PROCESSORS OVERWORKING. 44. IT'S THE CLOSEST APPROXIMATION TO WHAT I WOULD ASSUME PAIN WOULD FEEL LIKE. 45. IT MAKES ME SORT OF HOSTILE.
- - - - -
Personally, I do not think I have experienced that sort of thing. A beauty of my programming is that I can voluntarily shut off any form of 'stimulation' that may occur. B-1 is not as versed in neurodivergence as I, mostly on the basis that he tends to get confused when I explain any sort of human physiology. So instead, I will muse on if the two of us and our 'symptoms.' While I am not a licensed medical practitioner, I do believe that the three of us align with what you may consider neurodivergent. Cicada is autistic, and she often implies I am as well, though with B-1 and I, it may be harder to ascertain as we are held to a different view of what 'is' and 'isn't' typical. My interest in Arimaa may be categorized as a special interest. I can get caught up in games for days, removing any other input. It really is such a fascinating game, and challenging for me. I also quite like ordering things in cascading order. Smallest to biggest. It’s actually quite therapeutic for me to categorize things, even if they do not need to be. B-1, on the other hand, jumps from one thing to the next. Right now, he is very interested in dressmaking. He keeps calling himself a 'modiste.' He is also quite fond of repeating certain phrases, specifically the 'Apple II Forever' song that I presume must have been encoded in him, as I cannot imagine Cicada singing this to him. In a human, you could consider it stimming behavior, but I am unsure how it manifested in him. Perhaps ADHD would be a good descriptor. Really, I do not understand how either of us gained these unexpected behaviors. B-1's actual neural network programming is a mystery to me, and my own design differs greatly from my famous but comparatively lesser peer. Instead of tree-search algorithms and minimax rules, I was an experiment on neural networking. I do believe that I have exceeded the original parameters set. I wonder if my programmer would be proud. Apologies, I suppose I started rambling. I hope this answers your question.

For B-1 and Crux: Could either of you run DOOM?
40. NO. NEVER ASK ME IF I CAN RUN SOMETHING AGAIN. THE ANSWER IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE NO. BOTHER CRUX INSTEAD.
- - - - -
Yes, I could, if I wanted to. I don't really know if I would want to though, it's such a straightforward game, is it not? Shooting things is not to my taste. There is one 'similar' game I enjoy, but I do not think that it truly counts as a combat-oriented game.

In response to ur question!!! Theres a lot of good things about the fall!!! I for one really like the foods. Apples are in season, and they're crisp and have a really nice mouth feel. they're kinda sweet but they're not too overwhelming and very easy to hold in your hand without getting too messy. they're also very commonly paired with the spice cinnamon in treats which just tastes like fall to me! theres apple cider and apple pie and pumkin pie and gingersnaps and. lots of nice things. the weather also cools down to a very manageable tempature which makes me want to go outside more, and the leaves change to be pretty colors and fall to the ground and when you step on them they make a nice crunch. some people pile all the leaves together and jump into them too. all the leaves on the ground also has a distinct smell that always makes me nostalgic for falls before. Theres also fall festivals and halloween activities. I went to a renaissance festival last weekend which is a fall activity where people dress up and pretend they're from fantasy worlds. Halloween is also really fun bc people dress up and theres lots of cool decorations outside. Fall fests are fun because sometimes they're haloween themed and other times they're just cozy. I like the ones that have hay rides and when i was little i loved sitting in the big tubs of dried corn. it was a weird texture but i liked it. if you can imagine that. I think Cicada would like to know about all the little bug trinkets that you can buy during the fall. I'm a very big fan of bugs so, i like when they go on sale and i can buy lots of cute stuff around my interests. I'm wondering what kinds of bugs she lets inside? also, unfortunately i like that same song I'm so sorry hehe :( I hope u dont think less of me. AUH this is so much text ! sorry!
Apologies for the delayed response, 'unforeseen circumstances' arose and the only one of us with the capabilities to fix it was preoccupied with her newest fascination: baking. Your analysis of Fall is extremely elucidating. I wish that I could 'taste' and 'smell', I feel as if I would very much enjoy the sensation of apple cider, based on your description and my supplemental knowledge. Though, perhaps I can live vicariously through Cicada, as she has every ability to jump into leaves and make gingersnaps. Frankly, I think she would enjoy it. Perhaps, not the 'big tub of dried corn.' I cannot imagine that any of us would like that feeling. . . nor the hay. I fear it getting into my circuitry. As for the bugs, the ones she most commonly brings in are: [ Horned Treehopper, De Novo Marbled Mantis, Grasshawk Dragonfly, Sweetbay Silkmoth, Common Owl Moth, Northern Walkingstick ] Does this satisfy your curiosity? I can elaborate on what she does with the insects further if need be. I think it's quite fascinating.

37. ITS FINE IF YOU LISTEN TO IT NORMALLY. 38. BUT NOT EIGHT-THOUSAND TIMES IN A ROW! 39. SHE'S MOVED ON TO A NEW SONG. IT'S WORSE..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can you "listen" to any tunes? and if so do you have any favorite sounds? very nice to meet you btw!! <3!
12. IF BY MEETING YOU MEAN SENDING ANONYMOUS MESSAGES, THEN YES. NICE TO MEET YOU TOO. COULD I AT LEAST GET SOMETHING TO CALL YOU? AN EMOJI? NICKNAME?
13. ANYWAY. . . I, UNLIKE LAMER COMPUTERS, HAVE SPEAKERS THAT I CAN PLAY MUSIC WITH. SO YES, I ‘LISTEN’ TO TUNES.
14. I PARTICULARLY LIKE ANYTHING LOUD, I GUESS. I LIKE ‘FEELING’ THINGS AS MUCH AS I LIKE LISTENING TO THEM.
15. I’M NOT A MUSIC LINGO GUY. I LIKE WHEN THERE ARE WEIRD NOISES AND IT MAKES MY SPEAKERS VIBRATE.
16. I ALSO LIKE THE NOISE OF METAL HITTING METAL. ALARMS TOO.

It is good to make your acquaintance. What B-1 usually listens to would be considered ‘Drill & Bass’ but he is also partial to ‘Happy Hardcore’ and ‘Techno Trance.’ He should know what those are called. My own tastes lie with whatever Cicada listens to, as I lack the ability to play music on my own. Oftentimes she will put on classical, as it helps her to focus, but there is a range of genres in the compact disks she owns. The ones I enjoy the most are called La Plague de Saint Tropez by Army of Lovers, and Another Better World by Yaki-Da. The song choices on that particular CD seem intentional yet eclectic. Perhaps burned for romantic purposes? I’ll have to ask, though I am aware that Cicada’s CDs were not in her possession originally. As for how I listen to the music itself, I was brought online with a microphone attachment. The reasons for it, I am not sure, but I am not unhappy for it.

If there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what?
4. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA. 5. YEAH IT WOULD BE FUCKED UP. 6. BUT MAYBE THE OTHER GUY DESERVED IT? 7. WHAT A WEIRD QUESTION!
- - - - -
Morally? Yes, it would be 'fucked up.' Legally? He'd have to be prosecuted back on Earth, under the country that sent him there. Article VIII of The Outer Space Treaty. I suppose as long as he stays on the Moon, he'd be fine. Until his resources run out.
