So I've been massively obsessed with listening to FNAF songs lately I'm definitely very mentally well about it, ah. anywAYYY
Music headcanons about what the egos listen to??? 😁 Feel free to do as many as you want to, but I'm most curious about Murdock, Illinois, engineer Mark, and Wilford. (Also, I have some idea of what's in ur brain with Dark, but any more details would be welcome~) (Also also, Y a n c y)
Murdock - Industrial and Aggrotech are his shit, but also very much into Power Metal and Rock, the heavier the better. Appreciates Classical and Jazz, though prefers songs that sound more brooding and ominous in both cases.
Illinois - Definitely listens to and enjoys all sorts of cultural folk songs and the like native to the places he visits in his travels. Indie, Blues, and Jazz round out his typical tastes. People who don't know him tend to assume he'll like Country music, but he can't say he cares much for it.
Wilford - Disco is a very obvious choice here and it is true, but Wilford's been around for quite a while and has an appreciation for pretty much all types of music. He does, however, have quite a strong fondness specifically for Electroswing.
Engineer - Listens to a lot of sub-genres of Electronic and EDM. Like Wilford, a big fan of Electroswing, and also likes Chiptune a lot. Will put on heavier music like Industrial when he's angry or frustrated and trying to work something out. If he gets too strung out, though, he'll find some sort of rain or - especially after the Wormhole Incident - heartbeat ambience to put on and go decompress. Preferably with the Captain nearby.
Yancy - Musicals is really on the nose but also so very apt. Also Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly, and Doo-wop, considering the whole 'greaser' vibes he's got. Also likes some sub-genres of Rock and Alternative. Doesn't actively dislike any genre of music, even if it's something that isn't to his tastes. Boy just loves music too much.
Damien/Dark - Classical, Oldies, and some Blues and Jazz are all very obvious and fitting picks (all moony and lovesick), but only very close friends and family know that he also adores Metal, with Symphonic Metal being his favorite of the genre. You'd be hard-pressed to catch him listening to it, though, especially after the events of the Party. It reminds him a little too much of a certain someone who used to listen to and play it with him...
Bonus (cause his music taste jumped out at me):
Bing - Vaporwave and Chiptune are his favorites, but he likes almost all kinds of Electronic and EDM. Always surprises people when they find him listening to Industrial music and its sub-genres, of which Dark Electro is his go-to.
[Partially me projecting really hard here, partially honestly striking me as making sense, but I can see pretty much all the Egos enjoying Post Rock. Some more than others, and some only when they want something to help them wind down, but still.]

Tonight! The MONSTERS en La Mezcalli
by Susana Iglesias
(abajo en Español!)
You think about James Dean before you go to sleep, you look at his picture, I know because I do the same thing. I'm walking down the street of Gabino Barreda listening to Elvis. Since April 2016, Born to be Cheap organized wild parties, the first was very close to here, in a space above Numantina, a cantina in the San Rafael neighborhood. Denep Velasco/Denepa Panky & Matt Watson live among thousands of vinyls, they not only collect them, they spin them to exist. The name of their parties comes from a Divine song called that way. And yes, it seems that this pair was not born to do what others tell them, they have been 8 years of intense trash rock'n'roll, they play killer albums, never fillers, garage, punk, rockabilly, surf, blues Denepa is from Azcapotzalco and Matt from London, from a town called Epsom. They are a luxury, the music of their parties has elegance, style, also the beautiful and original turntables made by their ally Dr Tornas, a mysterious character who gives a turntable made by him on each anniversary of the Born to the winners of their traditional annual dance competition.
To celebrate their 8th anniversary they organized several dates with the legendary Swiss band The Monsters. The first was last Thursday the 25th at Gato Calavera, yesterday in Cuautitlán Izcalli at Sham Rock, today they are playing at a venue in the Guerrero neighborhood, tomorrow they will be in Tijuana at the Black Box, from there they will head to Reno, LA, Seattle , Oslo, Amsterdam, Berlin, Greece, Madrid, will not stop dynamiting ears, souls and minds until July 6, accompanies them on the tour playing records with Pete Slovenly who plans to take The Monsters to the We're Loud Fest in 2025 which will be in Kenya. Pete years ago took them on tour in Vietnam. It was difficult to recover after seeing them live at the Gato Calavera, it was brutal. Devastating & precise power, they opened with Search, in seconds the shirts, boots and glasses flew through the air while The Love I never had played, then came Blow Um Mau Mau, their damn rock and roll trash exploded in our faces and hearts , the frantic faces chanted until they almost fainted in the little hell of sweat and screams of wild rockers.
The songs advanced mercilessly and deadly, while Voodoo Love played I saw Brent Amaker smile, yes the famous country singer from the Seattle scene was next to me. Carrion Kids, present. Chav, a rocker, came from San Francisco to see them. Peppers, drummer of Shifters, took the playlist. Too much rock: El Muertho from Tijuana played yesterday at El Kentucky, a rebel space they set up in what was a KFC on Av. Juárez, it was the party of the unique HeYo radio station. There are not many spaces for REAL rock, that which does not whine, nor hypocritically champions anarchy and accepts change from officials. I know you cry when you remember that James Dean is dead. You spin your records thinking there is no tomorrow. Nights like cars at high speed. Please: forever: Stay sick.

BYE BYE PHIL & DON
Music has an immense power to pull diverse people into fellowship. There are styles and artists I can think of who excel at this power, and The Everly Brothers rise high on that list. In my life I witnessed how people with totally different worldviews could find something to agree on in the Everly’s song catalog. Their influence didn’t stop with Americana, country, folk, rock’n’roll, and rockabilly as their sound reached around the world, especially England, where The Beatles mimic’d the Everly’s tight harmonies and jangly guitars. It is also said The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, and Simon & Garfunkel claim a debt to the Everly’s. Their long career produced multiple hits, from the classics penned by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant to their oft-covered originals such as “When Will I Be Loved,” written by Don Everly—the surviving brother who passed away earlier this week.
“When Will I Be Loved” was a huge hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1975 and, while I celebrate her shimmering remake, the original 1960 Everly’s cut cast a high lonesome cosmic cowboy spell. Don also gets props for mastering alternate guitar tunings (especially drop-D). Don usually sang the lower harmony (and more lead), and the brothers said when it came to harmonies they could each read one another’s minds even as their personalities were near opposites.
I was born the day The Everly’s were in the studio to record “Wake Up Little Susie”—one of the great thumbnail sketches of young America. One of my first childhood memories (age 2) is seeing them on TV. Over the years I followed their solo projects and I’m a fan of their late 60s country rock recordings as well as their solid 80s comeback albums.
In the 90s Phil launched a guitar accessories company. At the time I was a buyer in a music store and gave Everly Strings a try. Weeks later I was at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles, visiting the Everly Music booth, and there was Phil! I was very excited, telling him about songs I wrote that were influenced by him and his brother. He listened graciously, smiling like a Kentucky gentleman. He gave me an Everly Strings t-shirt, thanked me for supporting his company, and said to keep in touch.
Fast forward to 2003—I had tickets to a Everly’s reunion concert, where I ran into friends and my Aunt Jo and Uncle Sonny. The set was amazing—a fan’s dream. I had with me a photo of me wearing the Everly t-shirt while posing with Davy Jones (Monkees). Backstage I met Don, did a group photo (which I lost), and gave Phil a copy of the photo I brought. Phil laughed and said, “Cool. I’m going to hang this in my office. You and Davy have good taste.”
As my colleagues groan about “the old guard moving on” the same week Charlie Watts passed away), I do my own emotional tremulations on the music and musicians who’ve greatly impressed and inspired me in life. If I'm pressed into picking one cut to tribute the Everlys, my first impulse is the “deep cut” they opened their 2003 concert with: Their evocative Southern Gothic novelette “Lord of the Manor.” Thank you Don and Phil for your years of giving us creativity and joy.

Still don’t get what Colin Escott’s problem was.
Like, I was looking for songs Jerry Lee wrote, the JLL fanboys posted a page, “the esteemed” Escott and Martin Hawkins wrote (here’s the link to the page):
It’s blurry but it reads: “Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the few influential figures in the history of rock or country music who has written very little of his own material. However, this lack of song-writing ability similar to that of a Carl Perkins, a Chuck Berry or a Tom T. Hall is paradoxically behind much of Jerry Lee’s success.”
I don’t get why older fans respect him, so much, he isn’t even respectful of the people he writes about, he’s mean, mostly to Carl – Like, what’s his problem? I don’t get why he hated Carl, did he say or do something rude to Escott? If so, he should talk about it, but no one will ever know ‘cause he’ll never say, he’d rather make passive aggressive remarks, like this.
I don’t understand how Escott published this and thought it made sense.
Like, God bless Jerry Lee, but he only wrote a few of his own songs, even then, it’s hard to say if he actually did. He’s credited for a lot he didn’t write, by that I mean, songs people helped him write and he covered someone else’s song, retitled it, claimed he wrote it and who’s to say he didn’t do this with other songs? A list of what he’s actually written is needed, Escott could’ve done this, being the self-proclaimed expert and all. Instead, tried to stay face, it’s known Jerry Lee’s strength is playing other people’s songs in his own style, but it’s not cool to praise him then shoot down other musicians who’ve actually written their own music. It’s mean and makes his praise of Jerry Lee’s talent ingenuine.
Now, Carl, Chuck, and Tom T. Hall aren’t the best songwriters in the world, they’re no Bob Dylan or Hank Williams, we all can’t be -- But they each wrote hits that are signature to them, they’ve expressed in their own unique way. There’s nothing wrong with Jerry Lee’s signature hits being covers, ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and ‘Whole Lotta Shakin,’ Elvis didn’t write much either, but the problem is Jerry Lee’s songwriting ability is in question. I’m proposing that Jerry Lee is very poor at songwriting and comparing him to Carl, Chuck, and Tom isn’t fair because they wrote good songs and could write their own music, whereas Jerry Lee can’t sit down and chisel one out on paper, he’s musically gifted but he can’t do what they did.
He can’t make up a song on the spot like ‘Everybody’s Tryna be my Baby’ or write a bunch of songs like Carl did, he can’t articulate himself like Chuck Berry did with ‘Brown Eyed Handsome Man,’ and he can’t write sentimental-happy songs about his feelings like Tom T. Hall has done. That doesn’t make Jerry Lee less, though, it just means they’re each different and that’s okay. It’s unfair to put down their accomplishments like Escott did. More so, when considering the absurdity of what he said, “this lack of song-writing ability similar to that of a Carl Perkins, a Chuck Berry or a Tom T. Hall” ... Like on what planet?
I’ll admit, Carl and Chuck’s prime was the fifties, but they wrote some of the most iconic songs in Rock and Roll history. Carl wrote ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and ‘Honey Don’t,’ Chuck wrote ‘Johnny B. Goode’ and ‘Roll Over Beethoven,’ I’d like to add it’s mostly Chuck’s songs that Jerry Lee used to perform at his live concerts. I don’t know much about Tom, but the simplicity of his songs is endearing and are country classics -- And why are we even talking about Tom T. Hall? He isn’t Rockabilly or Rock and Roll, why include him in the comparison? If it was based on songwriting, well, we just went through that. It also means Escott is more of a judgemental person than I thought, and I can’t help feeling this was his roundabout way of taking another shot at Carl.
I think he’s long overdue to retire and let a younger generation talk about these guys.

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
