Playlist
Author's note: Day 6 of Promptober: Playlist. Enjoy!
Warning: slight cursing
“Ah, seriously, this boss is a pain in the ass..”
Flashes of color blur in a bright screen as the sound of furious tapping on a keyboard echo in a dark room. An exasperated Idia huffs at their monitor, curses flying a mile a minute.
“Come, come on, at least buff your characters! Dammit, dammit, dammit,”
Amber yellow eyes flicker to a digital clock counting to the hour. The clacking of the keyboard quickens, fingers tapping on keys more aggressively.
“Big brother, what’s wrong?”
A concerned Ortho inquiries, his small frame peeking from the door frame.
“This lame bastard isn’t properly buffing the party! We’re not even putting a dent on this boss,”
Idia softens his tapping on the keyboard, conscious of Ortho’s presence in the room. The younger sibling probably heard the commotion from outside. Was I that loud?
Idia disregarded that lingering thought, his attention focused elsewhere and anxieties going haywire. His character, an adequately equipped samurai class adventurer, was dealing the most damage out of everyone in his party, but it wasn’t enough to damage the boss. A looming hellspawn roared on its hindlegs and mowed down other characters, killing unlucky bystanders in its wake.
Gods help me. From the corner of his eye, he can make out a healer desperately spamming the same maneuver over and over again to keep the party from utter defeat.
“The Fates will be streaming their concert soon, and this boss will take longer than I thought..”
He groaned internally when an ally fell midbattle, his blue locks lighting up into fiery hues of hellfire.
“COME ON, YOU PIECE OF TRASH. THIS BOSS SHOULDN’T TAKE FOUR HOURS OF GRINDING. HARVEST SOME MATERIALS, HONE YOUR WEAPONS, AND CHECK YOUR SHIT.”
He doesn’t dare vocalize his last thought: Personally, I wouldn’t take this. This dungeon grind is worse than my gacha pulls at XXX’s banner.
A sharp breath from the painful memory.
“I can stream it for you, big brother. The Fates’ Concert will begin in 1 minute and 4 seconds.”
Ortho’s generosity never ceases to melt his older brother’s heart, but the countdown was already grating his nerves. He won’t make it, huh..
“No, no, no, I must not burden my good younger brother with the responsibility of the Grand Ritual. Ortho, you can go help everyone else with the feast.”
“Initiating body scan: Increased levels of heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol. 0verloaded neural activity in the frontal cortex. Meditation is recommended.”
Idia scowled. Maybe he shouldn’t have installed the body scan prognosis in the first place.
“Just go, Ortho. I’ll be fine with this dungeon being impossible to beat.”
A headache was starting to bloom between his eyes. Great, just when he was about to formulate some plan to rid of this Gods-forsaken boss.
“Alright, Big Bro.”
The younger sibling reluctantly leaves, closing the door behind him. The Ignihyde Dorm leader relaxes against his chair, letting a sigh part from his lips. Ortho’s presence certainly help with his mood, but not the dungeon before him. Everything went so incredibly wrong - he felt it the minute his party entered the fray.
Right when he was about to rip another one of his party members, a chime dings from a messaging app. [Reader] was messaging him.
Hey, Idia. Still grinding on the dungeon? - timestamp 00:00
Don’t you fucking dare remind me about the concert tonight. - timestamp 0:00
Ehe~ - timestamp 00:01
You’re asking for it now, bro. My party is getting their ass absolutely wiped by the boss in this dungeon. It’s a cinematic tragedy. Timestamp - 00:01
You’re kidding? - Timestamp - 00:01
I wish I am. Timestamp - 00:02
Idia took his eyes off the chatroom and watched his party. At least some of us are still alive. Another party member finally decided to join Idia’s character in dealing damage, providing more buffs to enhance damage and defense while debuffing the hellspawn with poison and confusion.
At least we know what we’re doing. He sighs, not wanting to watch any more of this farce.
I can send you a playlist to help you destress from that. It’s your favorites~ - Timestamp 00:04
Thank you, I’ll need it. - Timestamp 00:04.
A dry chuckle uttered from Idia’s lips, slightly thankful for [Reader]’s sudden kindness.
I’ll record the concert for you, since you’re so busy grinding away, Mr. Samurai. Good luck- Timestamp 00:04
That temporary happiness Idia had just felt a second ago dissipated into unbridled passion. His fingers clack on the keyboard, this time forwarding his frivolity to his friend.
YOU MUST HONOR THE FATES’ REGALITY WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT. USE THE HIGH TECH TO SEE THEM IN THEIR TRUE GLORY AND BASK IN EVERY MINUTE OF IT. I WILL NOT HEAR A WORD FROM YOU IF YOU TARNISH THE FATES’ BEAUTY. - Timestamp 00:05
Aye aye, sir. I’ll make sure to stream the concert in 4K and support them! - Timestamp 00:05
[Reader]’s half-baked answer wasn’t enough to subdue Idia’s fiery passion for his idols. But, the promise to watch and record the most magnificent spectacle of mankind in the finest quality of technology was now a testament to their friendship.
You better keep that promise - Timestamp 00:06
You have my word, Mr. Samurai. - Timestamp 00:07
A grim smile graces his lips. Now that he had invested [Reader] with a mission of a lifetime, he felt light around his shoulders.
“And now, back to grinding.”
A brief glance over at [Reader]’s self-made playlist from the Fates’ discography was enough to revitalize the energy he had since he had entered this dungeon. A click later, he heard their voices, the inspiring lyrics, and the upbeat instruments. Ah yes, Idia was truly in his element.
“Thank you, [Reader]. You have my thanks. Now, I will use your power to end this once and for all!”
Idia readies his mouse, sending a slew of commands and buffs to his character and to his party. A wicked smile from his lips, he delivers a final blow, the music from his most treasured idols blasting from his headphones.

So it’s my 17th birthday in a matter of hours now so I wanted to do a 17 things I’ve learned before I turned 17 inspired by Taylor’s Elle 30 things I learned before I turned 30.
1. You will find your real friends in life though hard experiences. Real friends are often found though hard times. These are the people who will stick around throughout your life. These are the people will text you to see how you are or drop in just to say hi.
2. Not everyone in life is going to like you not matter how hard you try. In life there are people who aren’t going to agree with what you do. There are people who won’t want to be friends with you. It’s really hard to hear but it was a vital part of my learning and growing.
3. You never know what is going on in someone’s life so always be kind. I try my best to text each of my friends just to say “hey, how are you?” or “do you wanna hang out sometime soon?” every few weeks. Sometimes people don’t want to share what’s going on in their life, but texting them will let them know your there for them without you actually discussing it.
4. Each day writing down three positive things that happened can lift your mood. I like do this in my phone or in a little notepad. These things could be as simple as you had a really good lunch today or you had a fun lesson at school.
5. Getting a countdown app really helps with keeping on track with school work. Especially in senior school (I start in 2 months) I am going to use this a lot more. It gets stressful when 10 things are due at different times in the same week so having little reminders helps you know what to work on first and how long you have. It’s also good to get you excited for concerts and birthdays coming up!
6. Know when you need to wind down and have a break from work. As important as it is to work hard and try you best in school you also need to know when to give yourself a break. You can’t get good grades if your not sleeping well and/ or your really stressed. Going for a walk with your dog or having lunch with a parent or friend and chatting about life.
7. Sunburn is not fun, always wear sunscreen! I go to the beach all the time and I have been burnt so many times and it’s not only painful but also annoying cause you can’t go in the sun for a week or so following. It’s not worth trying to be tan.
8. Things like getting your drivers license aren’t as urgent as they seem. When I first got my drivers license I was like wanting to go out everyday. now I’ve worked out that I’d much rather get my hours completed slowly but enjoyed rather than rushed and hated.
9. Don’t be afraid to be different. I know this is a bit cliche but it’s very true. I’ve always wanted to do different things after school than other people. I want to be a pre school teacher in other countries and do missionary work in developing countries. I’ve wanted this since I was 6 or 7 when most kids wanted to be astronauts . I’m not as worried about getting top marks in school because I want to see the world after school. Getting into uni isn’t my highest priority.
10. In your life, you’ll do things, greater than, dating the boy on the football team-15 by Taylor Swift. In high school especially dating seems so important but there is plenty of time for that after school.
11. Get involved in as much as you can at school. Being involved In extra curricular activities at school can give you so many opportunities for the future as well as help you find out what you want to do with your life after school.
12. Long distance friendships can work. I’ve had a few friends who have moved to the other side of the country and even on to the other side of the world a few years ago. Saying goodbye is really hard but I wanna say for anyone who is currently experiencing this or may in the future that with technology today you can stay just as good friends over FaceTime and Snapchat. I haven’t seen one of my best friends in 2 and a half years and I’m actually going to London with my family and am going to see her in a year.
13. Popularity isn’t everything. In school people are said to be “popular” or “not popular” and I just want everyone who sees this to know that the further you get into school, the less people care about all of that. And after school all of that is no existent because you have the whole world before ou and you can do whatever you want with your life.
14. Find a creative outlet to express you emotions. I’ve found that creativity is a very useful way to express your emotions and feelings. This can be in many ways like song writing, paintings, journaling, ect. I’m sure if you look it up you could find something you would like.
15. If you don’t get the marks you need in school to do the specific course you want to do that is not the only way! I haven’t done my hsc yet but I have a mum that is a teacher and at my school we have meetings about all of this. There are bridge courses that can get you to where you want to be. Marks aren’t everything.
16. Spend your time with people who make you happy! Keep the people in you life that will boost your mood and put in the effort to see you on the weekends.
17. I really love Taylor Swift! Taylor has taught me some of my biggest life lessons and her music gets me through the rough days. She has such a positive aditude about her.

GOT7 / They miss you while on tour
ANON REQUEST: I’m not sure if you do song fics but could you do a song based on Blackbear’s Nyla for got7?
A/N: loosely based on the motives of Blackbear’s “NY LA”
Mark
he was the kind of guy who, when asked if he missed you, said “sure,” shrugged his shoulders and carried on with his activities as nonchalantly as possible – but, really, he was d y i n g
not being able to see you didn’t seem to be like that big of a problem at the start of your relationship since both of you were busy and barely managed to see each other once a week
but then he got so used to your presence when he was on a two-week break and took you out for a trip, that just the thought of having to be without you pained him now
and yet mark put up a tough exterior, acting like he wasn’t suffering without you
he practiced every day, he rehearsed his lines, learned new choreographies, and performed for thousands of people every night
but god he missed you so much that as soon as he climbed off the stage, he was running to get his phone to give you a call
hearing your voice didn’t ease his suffering but it was better than nothing and it helped him calm down for the time being
oh and you bet mark had downloaded three different countdown apps and had all of them counting down the days until he’d see you again
so, when you surprised him one time and showed up to his show unannounced, he was a little conflicted because a) there you were!!! right in front of him!! all his to be hugged and kissed!!; and b) how the hell was he supposed to reset the timers on the countdown apps now that you were here???
JB
the sad, melancholic feeling of being without you worked as a stimulant for his creativity and he finished, at least, three songs just about missing you alone, and three more about wanting to see you again
but while he was almost able to conceal most of his emotions when he wrote, he was never able to hide his longing for you very well when he was doing something else
and everyone around him knew what he was feeling as soon as he walked out of the hotel room in the morning, ready to head to the venue – they didn’t even have to look at his glum face – because there was something about him that was different
he radiated light, confidence, and positivity – and utter joy – when you were around
but now he was moving quietly, always looking down, constantly checking his phone
oh but if someone saw him when he was on the phone with you, they’d think he was a completely different person because the sad boy™ from before was gone
all of his attention was on you as he swallowed every word you were saying, cherishing in the sound of your voice, and smiling all through the phone call
he didn’t want to put it that way because, in his opinion, it sounded far too cliché, but alright, maybe you really were the center of his whole world and he wasn’t truly himself when he was without you
Jackson
he didn’t really suffer from too much pain without you but only because as soon as he got a free day, he was on a plane to see you
and he was exactly the kind of person who didn’t really mind taking one plane in the morning, seeing you for five hours tops, and then flying back to his next venue the same night
he’d be exhausted, he’d end up having to listen to jaebum scolding him – although jaebum didn’t mind because seeing jackson’s happy face after he got to spend some time with you was worth it – but he’d be so happy
and he’d do it all over again the next day because, i mean, what else would he do in the three free days before the next show? he could work on the lyrics of his next song on the plane to see you and he could record it on a night when he couldn’t sleep, so, really, why would he not fly back home for you?
but he showed his utter almost impossible dedication to you in other ways if, for example, he couldn’t come see you in a while
he’d buy you so many small, meaningful souvenirs from each place he visited because they all reminded him of you
and he wasn’t actively trying to bring you gifts, he just couldn’t help it, everything that was cute reminded him of you and he needed you to have it – it was seriously starting to become a problem
although, really, jackson would have done just about anything to see you smile and there wasn’t much that could have stopped him from giving you the whole world
Jinyoung
missing you came in stages of grief for him and denial was, of course, the first
he insisted he was completely fine and that it’s only been two days” when he’s last seen you, so the only reason why he kept checking his phone was because he was bored and had nothing better to do
and he went through anger immediately after because the other boys would not stop grinning knowingly at him whenever he snuck away from practice to text you back or give you a quick call
the three last stages mixed for him while he was on stage during one of the shows, looking out into the crowd, feeling absolutely blissful because there he was, doing something he loved the most in life!
but something wasn’t quite right
jinyoung was excited and happy, and yet something was missing – and it didn’t take long for him to realize that it was you
you weren’t there, among the faces in the crowd, your bright, supportive smile calling from him across rows of people
and despite there being so many people all around him, your absence was crushing
so, fine, he missed you
he’s been missing you since the day he walked out of that door, giving you one last hug before leaving for three months
Youngjae
he didn’t really think that missing you could take over his life the way it did
and he didn’t even feel himself close off and stay in his room when it got particularly bad – he didn’t want to concern the other members but he was so used to always having you by his side, it was difficult to realize that now, in order to hear your comforting words, he had to wait for hours until he could call you at a reasonable time due to the timezone differences;
so, on the one hand, missing you was almost like an illness
but, on the other hand, he used it for inspiration and it worked miracles
you would get these random texts from him, at like, 6am, and it’d be the lyrics from a song he was working on
and maybe you wouldn’t even realize that these are song lyrics – or that they’re about you – at first until, weeks later, you’d get more texts from him, also at very inconvenient times
only this time it’d be the recordings of him singing the same words he’d sent you in a text message before
he wouldn’t send them to you to show off but rather to hear your opinion about the song itself
even if he turned into a shy mess whenever you called him after hearing the song and ranted for twenty minutes straight about how you didn’t deserve him and how his voice could bring world peace
but that’s how he lived without you – although, maybe “without you” was too strong of an expression since you never really left his mind – counting down the days until he could see you again
BamBam
he was always either blowing your phone up with endless text messages or disappearing for days
you’d seriously worry when he would suddenly stop texting you but you could ask anyone, bambam didn’t disappear because he just stopped missing you
no, there was always a part of him that constantly buzzed with thoughts of you
but sometimes, he just had to shut that part down and focus on something else because otherwise he couldn’t live
the way he almost depended on you wasn’t fair, like he truly never thought he could feel so strongly about someone or panic so much when you fell asleep on him in the middle of the phonecall (he immediately assumed something bad had to have happened)
and he might have been away from you but you were e v e r y w h e r e
he could see you in the clouds when he lied on his hotel bed, he could see you in the reflection of the champagne glasses when he went out to drink with the boys after a show, and he could see you in the crowds of people that cheered them on during the concerts
but even though he couldn’t get your face out of his mind and he saw you in absolutely everything, he still couldn’t feel your presence and it wasn’t the same
you were there but, at the same time, you weren’t and it was slowly driving him crazy
Yugyeom
actually, he’d been scared to leave for tour because this was going to be the first “real” challenge in your relationship
you’ve already experienced what it was like to not see each other for weeks but this was a whole different thing and, truth be told, yugyeom’s mind might have stumbled upon thoughts of breaking up just so he wouldn’t have to put you through the pain of waiting for him to get back
in the end, he couldn’t do it
he loved being a performer with his whole being but, god, he loved you just as much
so the two of you were stuck dealing with the absence of each other in your own ways that actually weren’t that different – both of you tried to take your minds off of each other by spending time with your friends
and sometimes, both of you could spend a whole day doing something else, too busy to think of each other, but then the night would come and you’d get a call from him
and all you’d hear would just be his breathy, whiny voice, “i need you here”
so you’d spend hours on the phone no matter what you had to do the next day
but it never really felt enough, no matter how many topics the two of you covered and no matter how many times he’s heard you tell him about your day
you’d be getting a plane ticket delivered to your house about three weeks after yugyeom left so he could see you for, at least, one weekend

Hello I'm planning on getting tickets for the nct concert in Europe and I see all over tumblr posts mentioning how hard getting tickets for the American concert? Why is that? Is it hard to get tickets for nct concerts? How can I have a better chance to get a ticket? Thank you so so much for all the hard work you put out for our fandom!
We are honestly the worst people to ask this! Getting tickets for any concert a lot of people want to go to is overall always hard. The best advice we can give is waking up early, having several devices set-up and don’t refresh your browser when you’re in the queue! Any other Czennies who can help this fan (and also us) out?
for the anon that asked about getting tickets, i’d recommend having like 2 devices open, as well as different browsers (chrome, safari, etc.)! also, even if you get a message that says that tickets aren’t available, keep trying and clicking seats! and don’t worry if it seems like you won’t get tickets in the first 10 minutes in the sale because about 30 min after the sale started, a bunch of seats opened up, so be patient!!! a good tip is to have all your payment info ready (!!!!)
For anon worried about tickets: Be prepared: create as many accounts for as many devices that you have, making sure credit card/personal info is ready to go I personally used 2 cellphones with the app, 1 laptop, and 1 phone to call Ticketmaster (it may differ for uk/ur venue). Turn off wifi use on cellphones so only laptop uses it so it’s faster If you can get help from someone it’s even better but i didn’t have anyone lol. Make sure everything is set and ready up to 30mins-1 hour ahead. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT SECTION YOU WANT !!!!! When the countdown is around 10 mins left it will ask you to make sure you’re not a robot so do that to get back to the countdown When it’s close to 0, relax, take a deep breath, DON’T REFRESH it will on its own If your ticket seller has a number call them as soon as its time and do that at the same time it might be faster than phone/computer just have credit card ready.Get ready to click your preferred seating section asap but if the exact seat you want is taken choose something nearby don’t be /too/ picky w specific seats bc they will be gone REMINDER this is my personal experience, i got my ticket in less than 5 mins via laptop but i know a lot of people were in the waiting for a long time but don’t be discouraged !!! Its scary for a few mins but it’s worth it !!! Just keep trying and don’t give up!! Good luck to European nctzens !! 💚💚💚

since we have 11 days in our countdown, I wanted to list 11 reasons why I’m thankful for @taylorswift 💗
1. thank you, Taylor, for never failing to put a smile of my face.
2. for the absolute jams(!!!)that continue to inspire me and help me through my bad days, and let me sing my heart out with my friends on my good ones.
3. for allowing me to meet so many wonderful & kindhearted pals online through you.
4. for always being an outlet of positivity in my life. i know that no matter what, I will always have this community that makes my day better every time I click on this app.
5. for the incredible nights at your concerts that I get to share with my best friend and my aunt Jess, who basically introduced me to your music when I was a little girl! i will forever cherish those moments <3
6. for teaching me how to be fearless in spite of my anxiety.
7. for the Clean speech...whenever I’m going through a hard time, I go back to this and remind myself that walking through rainstorms gets me clean.
8. you’ve been such a positive influence on me since I was a little girl.
9. your poetry. it makes me feel less alone to read The Trick to Holding On and If You’re Anything Like Me, because I’ve struggled to really find myself on this path to self love and confidence.
10. you make me more excited and hopeful about life. every time i hear your name or your music, my face lights up. every time your name is mentioned, everyone else looks at me too...like, oh, yep, that’s the girl obsessed with taylor swift! jdsksks i wouldn’t have it any other way though <3
11. your strength, generosity, and kindness inspires me. you are so accepting and loving towards your fans, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that.
thank you. long live all the magic we made..i will stand by you forever 🦋🌟👼🏼🌸🧚♀️🏝🌷

Back to school - What’s on my phone?
Okay so I don’t know about you guys, but I used to be obsessed with what’s on my phone videos. And with back to school season being at full force, I have decided to make a what’s on my phone, but talk about apps I use for school, and anything that helps me stay productive/active (including routine)
For this post I’ll have a bunch of screenshots, so sorry in advance if it’s long. I’ll order them by category, so you can easily find whatever you might be interested in.
This is my homescreen/school folder (some apps are covered up because of privacy reasons). Wallpaper by @emmastudies. It also shows most apps I’ll be talking about in this post.
Planning/Time Managment
App #1: Wunderlist
It’s a basic to-do app, but I now also use it for keeping track of other tasks. In the app I have 4 different lists. Main (for basic tasks), schoolwork (homework and essays), social media to do (which has 5 sub lists; youtube, studyblr, langblr, studygram, and main instagram), and to buy (for groceries, but also my school supplies checklist, makeup checklist, ect.)
It is really easy to keep track of everything, as it allows you to add due dates, reminders, notes, and even attachments to your tasks. You can also add sub-tasks, so if it’s a step by step task you can add those in too. And the best part, you can sync it with other users, so if you have a group project you can add them to the task or list (if you have multiple tasks together) and keep track of each other’s progress too.
I definetly recommend this app for anyone that needs to be more organised.
App #2: Days--
Sadly this app isn’t actually available in the app store anymore, as the maker of the app discontinued it. However, you can still get an apk to install, which I will link here. (Download on your pc or laptop, scan for any virusses, then send to your phone to install. It was save for me, but you can never be too carful)
I use this app for events and big tasks. It’s kind of like a countdown app. I added in each event or big tasks, and it orders it by when the deadline/event is, so I can see how much longer I have to either prepare or finish it. I also added in birthdays so I can see how much longer I have to prepare a gift/party. The color coding option in the app is also really nice. I color coded it as follows:
Red = Events (mostly concerts)
Yellow = Birthdays
Green = Release dates (music I look forward too, movies, ect.)
Blue = School stuff (first day of school, tests, ect.)
Purple = Other
Although I mainly use it for looking at how long until my next concert, it’s actually really useful to plan study/work sessions for school tests or projects. Instead of having to count days/weeks towards due dates and than devide my time up, I can just look at the app, see how long I have left, and devide it up then. And because it takes up barely any space, I feel like it’s a nice bonus to have on my phone that isn’t necessarily an essential, but it’s also not in the way of any other apps.
App #3: Google Calendar
Now this I don’t really need to explain. It’s a calendar. It syncs with your Google account, and it has a really clean interface with a lot of options for personalisation.
For privacy reasons I didn’t take a screenshot of my own agenda, but I did add pictures from Google themselves.
App #4: Quality Time
I don’t know about you guys, but I usually spend way too much time on my phone. So I got an app that warns me when I have spend either too much time in total, or on one app in specific. You can set your own time limits for each app (or set it as unlimited) and a limit of how much you want to be on your phone in total. It won’t shut you out of apps after the time has run out, but it does keep track, which is really useful in my opinion.
Here I have added a screenshot of a few days ago.
Studying
App #1: Forest
A lot of you already know about this app, but I’ll still talk about what it does a little bit. Basically, you plant a tree, and you can’t use your phone until the tree has grown (you can set the time that it takes to grow yourself). If you do touch your phone before it grows, the tree dies. It helps with concentration, as it eliminates phone usage while studying.
Here is my forest from today. I like to use it for more than just studying (working out, reading, ect.), so my forest time is a bit long today.
App #2: Memrise
I talked about this app before, but I’ll talk about it again. It basically is an app that you can use to learn a new language! It has a bunch of languages included, and is really easy. It also feels a bit like a game because of the levels/experience system it uses. The more you practise, the more your character levels up! It also sorts it’s vocab lists by category, so you aren’t just learning random words, which is nice. (I just finished learning how to use regular verbs, and after that I’ll start with describing my emotions/thought in Spanish)
App #3: Quizlet
This is an app that literally everyone should have. It basically is a community driven flashcard app. Need to practise vocab? Make a flashcard set, or see if someone else has on that topic already. Need to learn dates of the French Revolution? Make flashcards! It is really easy to use, and has a bunch of modes you can use to learn your topic, including multiple choice, writing it out, and matching (matching is great for learning dates in my opinion)
I used this app at least once a week last semester, so I definetly recommend it.
Miscellaneous
App #1: Sleep Cycle
This app has literally made me into a morning person. It tracks your sleep pattern, and calculates the best time to wake you up! Set the limit on when you have to be awake, and the app will wake you up at the best time within 30 minutes of your limit. It tracks your movement in your sleep using either the movement censor or the microphone in your phone (you can choose which).
Not only that, I personally also really like looking at my graph of how I slept throughout the night.
Other apps you might want to put in your school folder:
Audio recorder (for lectures)
Office apps (word, powerpoint, excel, ect.), or another app that covers the same document types (for example, Polaris)
Calculator (I also recommend you check out Photomath if you’re doing any math related subjects)
And that’s the end of this post!
Like I said before, you probably already knew of most of these, but for those who didn’t I hope this was helpful! Any apps you’d recommend? Use the comments or reblog to let others know!

For some reason my countdown app tells me every day how many days are left until the @jamestaylor_com concert. I have other countdowns on the app and no special setting that I know of. It also reminds me if I add 6 days that's how many days until my birthday 🤷#idonthateit #jamestaylor #isitmarchyet https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqq-uYhlIMP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1sh7mhy8sa9nm

How to Avoid the Need for a Vacation from Your Vacation
With the holidays approaching, it’s time to start dreading — I mean packing for — the travel that comes with visiting loved ones or making it to those New Year’s Eve celebrations. If you are anything like me, then you probably have a past of overdoing it during the holidays and returning to work or school in desperate need of a vacation to recover from your vacation. For example, two years ago, I returned home with bronchitis thanks to exhaustion and spending a night sleeping in a drafty airport basement. This past summer, I crammed my vacation so full of tourist activities that I needed to book off another week to rest up. At that time, I was working as a supply teacher so my job was flexible enough to allow me to take an extra break; yet not everyone has that luxury. If you want to return to work or school without feeling drained or emotional, here are some tips for better planning your trip so that you can feel more rested and energized upon your return.
Finish Off that To-Do List Before You Leave
Are dishes still sitting in the kitchen sink? Stinky litter boxes and garbage still hanging around? Take care of it before you head out the door to catch your flight! The week leading up to your vacation put together a to-do list including everything that is pressing and needs to be completed. This can include household chores, work deadlines, refilling prescriptions, paying bills ahead of time, and implementing basic security measures around your home. That way you are not having to worry about dealing with an unclean home or running errands upon your return.
Put Together a Plan for Pet or Child Care Ahead of Time
I may not have human babies but I have furry ones that I always have to account for before I leave for my vacation. If you are not taking your pets or kids with you on your vacation, be sure to arrange for a sitter or pet hotel in advance. The last thing that you want to worry about on your trip is the health and safety of your pet or child because you got stuck with using a care program or babysitter that you don’t fully trust. Start to plan about a month in advance, by beginning to make a list of people or organizations that you trust. Next, inquire about availability, and arrange for their stay while you are away. Lastly, leave a detailed schedule or list of duties that they will need to complete while caring for your loved one. If you are lending out your key, make sure that you have a spare one to take with you on vacation. Also, be sure to arrange a time to deliver the key to them, as well as a time to get it back.
Practice Self-Care Before, During, and After Your Trip
Although you want to be taking care of business before your trip, you also need to be taking care of yourself. Work some time into your days for adequate sleep, nutritional meals and snacks, meditation (if you practice it), and physical activity. Ideally, all these should be a part of your normal routine, and you want to try to keep these rituals during your trip as well. If you are staying at a hotel, make use of the fitness facilities, if at all possible. Try not to overindulge in rich or unhealthy foods and alcohol during the holiday season, no matter how tempted you are. Bring a reusable water bottle to encourage hydration. If you are taking a late-night flight, be sure to pack a light blanket, noise-canceling headphones, sleeping mask, and travel pillow into your carry-on bag to help you get some shut-eye during the flight. If you continue your normal routines during your trip and upon your return, it will be a lot easier to return to life as normal once your vacation is over.
Do Not Over-Plan Your Trip
As I mentioned earlier, I fell victim to this over the summer when I crammed an entire west coast trip into two weeks. Almost every single one of my days was filled with exploring a city or visiting a bunch of tourist destinations. I even topped the trip off with two loud metal concerts! Sure I still had the adventure of a lifetime and walked away with some stunning videos and photographs, but I also came home exhausted. The number one thing that I would recommend is to focus on who and what you want to see on your vacation. You are not obligated to visit every single family member and friend that you have ever known. No one will fault you for not visiting every single tourist destination or not hitting up every single party. Choose a couple of activities that you couldn’t imagine your trip without and then plan the rest of the trip day by day. While on vacation, listen to your body — what does it need? If you have the energy to hit up a family gathering or go hiking, then do it! But if you need some time to relax by the fireplace with a book, that’s fine too. Learn to say no to outside pressure, and do what you need to do to stay healthy on your vacation.
Take Advantage of Long Stop-Overs (If You Have Them)
Whether you are driving a long distance, taking a ridiculously long train or bus ride, or flying across time zones, schedule in some “me time” when you are coming back. Even if you think you can do a whole day of driving, think about breaking the trip up so that you are stopping somewhere to sleep about midway through. This will give your eyes, mind, and the rest of your body a nice break before hitting the road. You never want to find yourself in the middle of a car accident because you started to get tired midway through your drive! If you have a long stopover on another mode of transportation, consider checking into a hotel. When flying across time zones, this is a must, as it will help reduce the stress that jet lag puts on your body. Taking a break from any vehicle also gives you a chance to rest your muscles, which are fighting to keep your posture the same as when your feet are planted on solid ground.
Plan to Have Some Rest After Your Visit
In the past, I have given into the temptation of staying with my family that I was visiting up until I had to be back. I regretted it every time. If you can build in some relaxation days at home before you go back to work or school, take this chance. Sure we all hate saying goodbye to friends and family at the end of a visit, but those days at home are vital for physically, mentally, and emotionally preparing for your return to normal life. Not to mention, you will have time to pick up groceries and meal prep for the week, start to schedule any necessary meetings, check over important emails, and get a head start on any work that you may have to complete. This, of course, can be completed at your own pace, which is always a bonus.
Plan the Next Fun Thing to Do
Post-vacation depression is a real thing, folks. When I came back from the Supernatural Convention held in Toronto this past fall, I fell into a deep depression. That’s because I had been planning and anticipating the event for a solid year! As I had blown most of my budget at the convention, I wasn’t able to work in any fun activities for another month. This was a mistake, to say the least. When you come back from your vacation, take some time afterward to brainstorm and plan some fun activities to look forward to in the future. This will make returning to the norm a little less bleak. Perhaps think about taking up a new hobby, joining a club, taking a day trip outside of the city, or even planning your next vacation. Consider downloading a countdown app, such as Time Until, for your phone or computer so that you can see the number of days until your next vacation or planned activity. This will help to create a visual reminder of what you are working towards.
A little planning can go a long way when it comes to fighting travel fatigue. Use some or all these tips to get back to work or school after the holidays without the need for a second vacation!

Top Ten Reasons to Enhance Your Elementary Music Classroom with Technology: #2 Reflection | Music, Education & Technology -MusTech.NetMusic, Education & Technology -MusTech.Net

Top Ten Reasons to Enhance Your Elementary Music Classroom with Technology: #2 Reflection | Music, Education & Technology -MusTech.NetMusic, Education & Technology -MusTech.Net
Here in the states, it is New Year’s Eve. Since I am close to New York City, the news is filled with pictures of people in Times Square getting ready for the ball to drop.
As for the countdown, we are approaching #2 on the list of Top Ten Reasons to Enhance Your Elementary Music Classroom with Technology. This list will end tomorrow, the first day of 2019. There will be a free webinar to shortly follow where these ten enhancements are displayed in action.
Definition and Reminder
If you have not read the previous posts, the definition of technology enhancement is using technology to enhance making and doing music in a way that traditional methods lack. In addition, the ten tools that I listed are meant to be guides to trying one or two in the elementary music classroom. Think of the list as a champagne buffet. If you drink the entire buffet this evening, you will end up feeling sick and overwhelmed for the new year.
#2: Reflection
I feel that students reflecting on their own music making as well as others, is important. It helps them explore and ponder on what they did and how they can improve or learn. It also helps them find and try new musical ventures. When it comes to reflection, traditional ways of writing a reflection or filling out a questionnaire have been used successfully for years. However, what if technology could assist with the students organizing and sharing their reflections that traditional methods lack?
One Device with a Camera
A lot of self reflection can be done by using one device, asking a student a question, and recording their answer. This way, it is stored digitally and can be viewed again at any time.
Student Digital Learning Portfolios
As stated in previous posts from this countdown, student digital portfolios like Seesaw, Class Dojo, and Bloomz, have been a game changer in the elementary music classroom. Students can showcase their musical works via pictures, video, writing, notes, web links, and more. To level up these portfolios, have the students write or video themselves within their journals reflecting on what they learned. They could also ask themselves the following questions:
In addition, with student digital portfolios, students can take these questions and use them to comment on their classmate’s musical compositions. Since the teacher can approve and reject anything before it gets posted, there is always a safety net.
Here is an example from the parent Seesaw app. This is my daughter answering the daily student reflection question that her classroom teacher posts. I love this idea and am going to try to use it at least once a semester in my music classes.
Reflection-Type Apps
Creating a form in Google Forms, Socrative, Kahoot! or Plickers, are wonderful ways for students to use to self-reflect. With Google Forms and Socrative, they can answer questions or write reflections. Both do not require students to have email addresses. In Kahoot!, the students can answer questions in a fun, game show style way. With Plickers, the students can answer multiple choice questions even when the classroom has only one device.
Other wonderful tools for a 1:1 classroom are Pear Deck and Nearpod. These apps project the class lesson onto the students’ devices. During the lesson, the students are asked to answer questions so the teacher can check the students’ comprehension during the lesson. Pear Deck is built to work with Google. Teachers and students log into Pear Deck with their Gmail address, files are auto-saved in Drive, and everything is integrated with Google Classroom.
Youtube
When my students are preparing for a concert, I love to utilize Youtube to show them other groups performing the same songs. This helps the students see that they are not the only ones who prepare and perform concerts. It also helps them gain empathy for the performers. When I use Youtube, I will follow up with questions such as:
These questions are usually in a discussion-orientated platform for the purpose of student gaining more knowledge about performances.
Video Discussion
To take this one step further, we have used Skype (Google Hangouts can work as well) to talk with other classrooms who are preparing for a concert. We sang our songs and then they sang their songs. One year, we were singing “Angels We Have Heard on High” in Mandarin and skyped to a classroom in another state. There was a student who spoke fluent Mandarin in that classroom and stated to my students that he understood every word. This compliment made their day!
Stay tuned for #1 appearing tomorrow and a free webinar to follow shortly thereafter!

Social Climbers Weekly #71
1. Snap’s Spectacles are now available in Europe
Announced this morning, anyone in Europe is now able to purchase a pair of Snap Inc’s in demand camera glasses; Spectacles via the website or from a vending machine (be prepared for queues though). It’s the first time the piece of wearable tech has been available outside the US since launch back in September 2016. Spectacles are essentially sunglasses with a tiny camera built in that can record between 10-30 secs of first person video which is then sent directly to your Snapchat account.

2. Instagram adds new rainbow-themed features for Pride 2017
On Wednesday, Instagram announced a new set of LGBTQ-themed Stickers and a Rainbow Brush for Stories, all in celebration of Pride Month, the annual celebration of LGBTQ community and identity. The six Stickers were created by artists from around the world and depict different portions of LGBTQ culture. There’s also a new Rainbow Brush for users to add some extra colour to their Stories on the app.

3. Instagram Direct Messages now support web links and different photo orientations
With 375M MAUs on Instagram Direct, it’s no wonder Facebook sees value in the functionality as a Messaging platform. The feature just became far more useful too. Facebook has added support for external web links and the ability for users to send images of any dimensions without the need to crop them first. Instagram Direct is very popular among Instagram’s 700M MAUs so it’s no surprise these additions are designed to keep them within the app. Web links mean that users have less of a reason to leave Instagram for other messaging apps, even if they are fellow Facebook-owned options such as Messenger and WhatsApp.

4. Twitter adds new features as it experiments with Sponsored Live Video
As part of its on-going effort to get users watching Live Video, Twitter has announced a deal with Live Nation to livestream concerts exclusively on the microblogging site. To promote these events, Twitter is experimenting with a few new features within tweets. These include reminder buttons that prompt users to set an alert to watch a countdown clock, clicking on it then triggers a push notification once the event is live. The next is a ‘branded timeline’ that groups all of the chatter about the event into one landing page and finally, a ‘Bumper Card’ which is a 2-3 sec slot that describes what the event is about before the broadcast begins.

5. Facebook releases new ‘Topics to Watch’ report based on trending moments
Facebook’s ’Topics to Watch’ reports provide an overview of the issues that are seeing significant increases in mention volume across the platform. They include demographic and keyword data connected to a particular topic. The topics themselves cover a variety of subjects that may or may not be relevant to your brand. It’s worth keeping tabs on them on the off chance a conversation pops up that your brand could potentially add too. The latest report can be found via the link below and the ‘Topics to Watch’ site is here for future reference.
