The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is primarily celebrated at home and in public by local community groups across Central, Western and southern states of India. The act of worshipping a clay idol and then bidding it good bye by immersing it in water is a very unique way of identifying with the cosmic cycle – of beginning and end and of new beginnings , of letting go and looking forward to the new.
