“This is unnecessary.”

At Blade’s snide comment, you pull sharply at the strands of his hair in your hands. He grunts in displeasure before obediently quieting down, only a little scared of you scalping him if he annoys you any further. 

Perched behind him on the couch while he sits on the floor, your hands find themselves coming through his hair (long, smooth, untangled despite the fact that you’ve never seen him take a brush to it). Your efforts to part his hair with just your fingers are fruitless. His hair is thick on the top, so much so that you’re surprised his neck doesn’t constantly ache with the weight of it. Your hands pause, resting on the top of his head while you try and figure out how you’ll style it. 

“Be nice,” you warn, two hands on the sides of his head tilting it from side to side, treating him as a foam mannequin on which you can project your very thorough cosmetology skills. “Your fate is quite literally in my hands. I could knock you out and shave you bald very easily.”

“I don’t doubt that,” he says earnestly, and you can’t help the way your lips twinge into a smile. “This is clearly a hassle. My hair looks fine the way it is.”

“It does,” you admit, “but wouldn’t it be nice to try something new? And at no cost to you, aside from mild scalp pain. I’m good at hair. I did Kafka’s that one time.” You fail to mention that it was only one time for good reason. Kafka said that you handle hair the same way a lobster would handle a violin—that is, with clumsy hands and a clear lack of refinement. She had to hide every pair of scissors from you in fear that you'd give Silver Wolf microbangs.

As if on cue, your fingers get caught in an unexpected snag in Blade’s hair, and you pull and tug and yank as if expecting it to untangle on its own. Blade hisses and reaches a hand back to smack you on the wrist, turning around to glare at you. 

“Watch it,” he orders, gentle but firm. There’s not enough heat in his words to scare you, and his eyes are a particularly beautiful shade of copper in the dim, flickering light of this dingy lounge room. Whatever you say, beautiful, you think to yourself hysterically. 

After a few half-willed apologies from you and some nudges of encouragement, Blade finally relaxes enough to turn back around and tilt his head back in your lap, letting your fingers play with his hair nonsensically. A braid, you decide, would look quite nice on him. One long one down the back. If you had ribbon, you’d use some to tie his hair, but all you have is one of Kafka’s tragically thin hair ties. 

“It’s a nice color,” you comment absentmindedly, pretending that you can’t see the way Blade’s eyes have shut in contentment at your gentle prodding. “It changes in the light a little bit. It looks very blue now, but I’ve always thought it was black.” You section his hair off into three pieces, loosely laying one over the other over and over again. The aged gold ornament still hangs securely in his hair, and you don’t do anything to move it. It suits him. 

“It’s natural, if that’s what you’re getting at,” he tells you, the slightest twinge of a joke in his voice. It plays at your smile and at your heart, too. 

“You say that now, but you’ll be scrambling to come up with a lie when I find box dye in your bag.” 

He only hums in response, reluctantly enjoying the feeling of your hands on him—they’re gentle, and you can imagine he’s not quite used to this. It’s an addictive feeling, to have him at your mercy, even with just your hands in his hair. There’s trust, unspoken, lingering warmly in the air and settling like condensation on your skin. You could very easily do a number of things that would hurt Blade—kill him, almost. You’ve only ever thought of it a few times, and those were all a very long time ago. 

You don’t think of it that often anymore. All you’re paying attention to is Blade and the splitting ends of his hair and how nice he’d look with a red ribbon tied in. 

“We should go shopping,” you tell him, voice close to a whisper now. You’ve secured the end of his braid already, and your handiwork is admirable. The strands are neatly crossed over each other, uniform in size with each other as they taper down into the end. “Some clips for you would be nice.” Absentmindedly, you comb through the layers of hair near his face, digging your fingers gently into the sides of his face and scratching at his scalp. 

“And where exactly would we go shopping? We’re not exactly upstanding members of society in some people’s eyes.” 

“Then I’ll make clips for you,” you say, a naive kind of dedication in your tone. “I used to work with metal, a little bit. I could make jewelry. Ornaments for your hair. I’ll put a ribbon in next time.” 

“What makes you think there’ll be a next time?” Blade asks doubtfully, in steep contrast with the way he lets your hands roam along his scalp, and the way his head leans back into you as if he’s comfortable. 

“You’re a loyal customer,” you quip, “you’d never let somebody else do your hair when you have me as a dedicated stylist.” 

“I’m your only customer.” 

“I know,” and in a moment of weakness—because at the end of the day that’s what you are, weak, malleable and moveable when you’re with Blade like this—you lean down just a little bit, pressing a stupid clumsy kiss on the crown of his head. Your fingers trail down to trace the bumps of the braid, the divots and grooves in it, made by your hands, and yours alone. “That just means I can put all my effort towards you alone.” 

“You shouldn’t.” And he means it when he says that, and it hurts you, puts a sickly pang in your chest that you want to reach for and tear out before it grows into something worse. 

“But I will,” you tell him. Blade is stubborn, but not stubborn enough to keep it up. Not now, not here, not when the overhead lights are flickering and making his hair look just a little bluer, illuminating the warmer ends of his hair, glinting off the metal ornament still clipped into it. He rests between your hands, still sitting on the cold floor, pretending that he isn’t falling asleep with you like the fool he secretly is.

Five years ago I thought it would be a neat idea to try and make my favourite trinket of all time (3D wire mandala). So I found myself some copper wire, beads, a set of pliers and began tinkering. 5 years later, I make these wonderful multi-purpose pieces for lovely people all over the world full-time, and I couldn't be happier.

The ingredients for making a 3D wire mandala:

122.5 inches of electroplated copper wire (gold, silver, black)

14 funky beads (8mm size)

7 pieces of banding wire (22 gauge)

A one step looper and bent-nose pliers

and a lot of patience.. XD The next step in my small shop journey is to transition from selling on Etsy to my own website. “the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the State of Alaska’s bid to fast-track the legal process, overrule the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and gain approval for the Pebble Mine — slated to extract enormous amounts of copper, gold, and molybdenum from the pristine and sensitive ecosystem known as Bristol Bay.

A diverse coalition led by Alaska Natives has consistently fought against the proposed mine for more than two decades. It eventually gained support from the EPA, which ultimately blocked the mine proposal in January 2023 over concerns it would threaten an aquatic ecosystem supporting the world’s most prolific sockeye salmon fishery.

This decision is significant, particularly considering the current High Court’s tendency to support states’ rights, limits on regulation — especially of the environmental variety — and corporate concerns. Alaska’s request, filed in June, was unusual in that it sought to skip lower appeals courts to challenge the EPA’s decision on the basis that it violated Alaska’s state sovereignty.

Under the law, alleged violations of state sovereignty are one of the few categories of cases that grant the Supreme Court original jurisdiction — meaning a state can bypass the usual state/federal court appeals process and file straight with the High Court. The justices could easily have decided to hear the case and decide in favor of the mining company, which has shown no qualms about engaging in some shady business practices over the years.

As the single most productive sockeye salmon fishery in the world, Bristol Bay contains biodiversity and abundant wild fish populations which present a stark contrast to many other fisheries in the Pacific Northwest (and worldwide). Most have experienced severe depletion over the last few decades. Sockeye salmon — like all Pacific Salmon — are a keystone species, vital to the health of an entire ecosystem. Of course, salmon also provide a sacred food source for Indigenous communities up and down the West Coast.”

From historic riches to future discoveries: The Warroo Copper-Gold Project

In the realm of mineral exploration, few opportunities are as enticing as those presented by the Silverwood Copper-Gold Project. Located just 15 kilometers south of Warwick in Queensland, this project is a significant asset of QMines. Encompassing a vast 234 square kilometers of exploration area, the Silverwood Project boasts immense potential for Volcanic-Hosted Massive Sulphide (VHMS) and Mississippi Valley-type deposits, hosting substantial quantities of zinc, copper, gold, silver, and lead.

Situated within the Calliope Island Arc, the Silverwood Project has gained recognition for its remarkable gold deposits, including the famed Mount Morgan gold mine, which has yielded over 8 million ounces of gold and 400,000 tonnes of copper. Benefitting from a complex geological structure, the Silverwood region provides a fertile ground for further exploration and potential discoveries.

Among the key highlights of the Silverwood Base Metals Project is its previous exploration by the esteemed Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ). As a result, the project boasts an initial exploration target of 0.8-1.0 million tonnes at impressive grades of 3.2-3.7% zinc, 0.3-0.5% copper, 15-25 grams per tonne silver, and 0.3-0.5% lead. Promisingly, drill results have revealed the presence of copper grades reaching as high as 3%.

Building on the significant base metal mineralization discovered at Grieves Quarry, QMines is directing its exploration initiatives towards identifying potential gold mineralization in calcareous or carbonate sedimentary rocks while continuing to target base metals at the Silverwood project.

Andrew Sparke, a renowned industry expert, has expressed his optimism regarding the Silverwood Copper-Gold Project. He believes that the region's geological complexity and the previous exploration efforts conducted by the Geological Survey of Queensland have laid a strong foundation for further exploration and potential discoveries. Sparke further emphasizes that the presence of high-grade copper and the project's proximity to significant gold deposits bode well for future prospects.

In addition to the Silverwood Project, Sparke also highlights the Warroo Copper-Gold Project, situated 50 kilometers west of Stanthorpe. Spanning an expansive 216 square kilometers, this project encompasses the historical Warroo copper-gold mine, which has yielded 13,982 ounces of gold, 21 tonnes of copper, and 901 ounces of silver from a depth of 40 meters between 1909 and 1992.

Denaro's 1992 assessment of the Warroo mine identified granitoid-related mesothermal vein deposits with exceptional gold grades, making them a primary target for mineral exploration. The Warroo Project is home to eight high-grade small-scale historic mines and deposits, underscoring its rich potential.

Of particular significance is the best drill hole result obtained from the Warroo Project, which revealed an impressive 8 meters at 13.46 grams per tonne gold. This remarkable finding further highlights the substantial exploration potential of the project.

QMines, in its pursuit of unlocking the full potential of the Warroo Project, plans to undertake a comprehensive data compilation exercise. This exercise aims to develop a digital summary map that will facilitate the evaluation of anomalous areas identified by past explorers, thereby aiding further exploration efforts. The company's proposed drilling of the primary sulphide zone in and around the Warroo mine presents numerous gold and copper targets for follow-up exploration.

With Andrew Sparke and QMines at the helm, the Silverwood Copper-Gold Project and the Warroo Copper-Gold Project are poised to make significant strides in uncovering substantial mineral reserves. Alchemy, the untouched friend of Witchcraft

If there is something interesting that is nearly not used on mostly of the witch community, is Alchemy, and is something from which we could take some few useful stuffs.

As always, disclaimer first, I’m not an expert on the subject and I barely if I read a couple of books about the topic (from another 10 untouched ones lol), so as always in life, take what I say with tweezers. This is meant to be a light superficial view to open a door of possibilities in a mix of Witchcraft and Alchemy, is not a thesis. Saying that, to the core of the question.

Alchemy use elements. A lot of them.

The three primes or Tria Prima (the basic 3 materials): Sulfur (Related to the Soul and the principle of combustibility, so it has volatility, can burn, explode, combust), Mercury (Related to the Spirit, the principle of fusibility so the material can be fused together and volatility so a substance vaporizes), and Salt (Relate to the Body, the principle of non-combustibility and non-volatility).

Our beloved Four basic Elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water.

The Seven Metals associated with the seven classical planets: Lead, corresponding with Saturn. Tin, corresponding with Jupiter. Iron, corresponding with Mars. Gold, corresponding with the Sun. Copper, corresponding with Venus. Mercury, corresponding with Mercury. Silver, corresponding with the Moon.

The 13 Mundane Elements and Later Metals: Antimony, Arsenic, Bismuth, Cobalt, Magnesium, Manganese, Nickel, Oxygen, Phlogiston, Phosphorus, Platinum, Sulfur, Zinc (All of them with a lot of interesting properties and functions, in and out the alchemy world).

The 10 Alchemical Compounds: Acid, Sal ammoniac, Aqua fortis, Aqua regia, Aqua vitae, Amalgam, Cinnabar, Vinegar, Vitriol, Brimstone (All of them also with amazing properties).

And what interesting me the most (at least to my way to do witchcraft), The 12 Alchemical Processes:

Calcination (Aries): The thermal treatment of a solid to removing impurities or volatile substances.

Congelation (Taurus): Term used in medieval and early modern alchemy for the process known today as crystallization. Process by which a solid form into a structure known as a crystal, by precipitating from a solution or freezing.

Fixation (Gemini): Process by which a previously volatile substance is "transformed" into a form (often solid) that is not affected by fire.

Solution (Cancer): Homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.

Digestion (Leo): A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks.

Distillation (Virgo): Separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by using selective boiling and condensation.

Sublimation (Libra): The transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state.

Separation (Scorpio): Converts a mixture or solution of chemical substances into two or more distinct product mixtures. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity.

Ceration (Sagittarius): Chemical process, by continuously adding a liquid by imbibition to a hard, dry substance while it is heated. Typically, this treatment makes the substance softer.

Fermentation/ Putrefaction (Capricorn): A metabolic process that produces chemical changes in organic substrates through the action of enzymes/ Decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion.

Multiplication (Aquarius): Process to increase the potency of the elixir or projection powder, in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection.

Projection (Pisces): Process to transmute a lesser substance into a higher form; often lead into gold.

Damn, alchemy even have symbols to Units: Month, Day, Hour, Dram (Unit of mass between 1 and 3 grams), Half Dram, Ounce (Unit of mass, weight or volume of 28 grams, Half Ounce, Scruple (1 grams), Pound (500 grams).

So just with this simple 2 pages of basic Wikipedia info, we have a ton of new things to use. Everything here has specific properties, some more physical and chemical oriented, but others (like the 3 Tria Prima and The 12 Alchemical Processes) have a lot of correspondences with the witch life itself.

The 12 Alchemical Processes could be absolutely used to represent an desired outcome.

Calcination uses thermal treatment, so it can boost the Fire element of a spell. It also “removing impurities or volatile substances”, so can be applied to generate a mild fever to get rid off the flu, or to boost the organs that clean the body (kidneys and liver mostly)

Congelation turns a solid by freezing, can boost the Water element, so all the “freezer spells” can be boosted with this.

Fixation? A volatile substance is transformed into a solid form? Sound pretty much to grounding, or to help to focus an ADHD head as mine, or to put down to earth someone who is VOLATILE AND VIOLENT. Also, Earth element.

Solution? Homogeneous mixture of two or more substances? It sounds like an aid to make two people on conflict to get into an agreement, or to boost a new business by mixing the opportunities with the action. Air element.

Digestion. A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks? It sounds like something that can help any process that need digestion (bad news must be “digested”, hard choices must be “consulted with the pillow”), and the “gentle heat” sounds comforting. Someone is grieving? Maybe Digestion can help them to overcome the awful times.

Distillation. Separating the components or substances. Anything that need to be separated can be helped with this. Relationships that must end, breakups, cut the ties with older things or habits.

Sublimation. The transition of a substance. I heard trans rights? Can this maybe help with your hormones? Or even to transition from what you previously left behind with the distillation, to focus in a new better future.

Separation. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity. How to choose from two or more choices? How to pick the better one? The one with purity? Separation maid aid.

Ceration. A hard, dry is heated to make it softer. Make that person less frigid, make the boss less bitchy, make your chronic pain less hurtful, make your bills less heavy, all that you can think in make softer.

Fermentation/ Putrefaction. I personally love this one. Produces changes in organic substrates and decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion. Prime element to curses. All what you want to rid off in the most disgusting way. May their flesh get rotten under a car in a hot summer.

Multiplication. Process to increase the potency of the elixir in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection. MONEY MONEY MAKE MORE MONEY, all what need to be increased and all what you want to multiply, go go go!

Projection. Transmute a lesser substance into a higher form “lead into gold”. Perfect to get better as a person, to learn to adapt, accept, to grow compassion, love, etc.

At this you can add the Units, the metals and mundane elements, the 4 elements, the tria prima, your crystals and herbs and sigils and all. And your spells will be filled with components and correspondences.

What’s better, a lot of the physical elements are not too hard to get (some yes, they are, but you are not here to make lead into gold with a full set of chemistry), but alchemy use a lot of symbology, so even if you don’t have the physical element, you can use their properties with the symbol, just as any other sigil.

Salt is easy. Tin in a food can. Antimony in mostly all the rocks. Arsenic in apple seeds (technically no but still). Cobalt and Manganese basically everywhere. Magnesium in your own body. Nickel in coins. Oxygen in the air., Phosphorus, Zinc and Sulfur in food. Acid in anything acid lol. Aqua vitae in alcohol (especially Whisky). Vinegar in vinegars.

Long story short, if you feel that maybe you are lacking something, check some books about alchemy would maybe help. Don’t pick super chemical specific pro books and don’t be discouraged by the terms, pick what can be useful to you, and I hope this open some doors and bring more curiosity about this amazing topic.

nightcat!! a winged purposed messenger. theyre blind because of a bioengineering fuckup and instead rely on tracking iterator signals, which they use their whiskers for.

gatherer! hunter's "technically sibling" and sig's first slugcat. their tail is prehensile :] they're based on an iggy projection slugcat!

gourmand! oh love the her. cherish the her. i love gourmand. she has a little pouch for sluppies! she can fit about 8 or more in that pouch. she's big

artificer, copper/firedancer and phosphore/flashbang! firedancer has green fire and is thusly named copper hehe. not many notes on these guys :o i just really like artificer's design.

rivulet!! teal!! and i hueshifted my original gradient a bit to fit this. i like them a lot

speam and laceweaver! laceweaver was a spearmaster prototype that suns kept. laceweaver mentored spearmaster alongside another prototype i haven't designed yet. the others.... didn't make it. suns didn't send the gold pearl for me! thats something pebbles made himself. i did alter downpour a lot because there's some things i don't particularly like and downpour is only really an au thats adding onto canon. dont get me wrong i like it but uh oh ramble i'll get into that if prompted

(darker colors are used for the more echo-y saint doodles; the whites are just colors i use for snow) saint! though i've altered the tail pattern design a bit though, usually it's more like this when i draw it.

though this design is also a bit more echo-y but the tail pattern is the same regardless. also the wings uhoh i need to redo a ref for saint

(the dark brown is used for the scars with dodge layers of the same color ontop)

Summer School Series:

Part One: Summer School - Daniel's excited to meet Anthony's new art teacher.

Your evening class is just letting out when Daniel drops by your studio. Your students are an array of ages between thirty and sixty, all chattering amongst themselves as they file out of the workshop.

“Oh hey.” You say when you see him lingering in the doorway. “Take a look around while I clean myself up.”

You’re wearing an apron covered in iron filings, your hair tied back in a ponytail. There’s a dark smear streaked across your cheek and somehow it’s just the sexiest damn thing. It isn’t until now that he realises how attractive he finds a woman who works with her hands, one that isn’t afraid to get a little dirty.

When you disappear into the backroom to washup, he finds himself touring the studio reviewing the projects your students are undertaking. He’s amazed by the creativity in the work, the complexity and the simplicity. He sees owls, and rainbows, figures on skateboards made with cogs and wrenches, nuts and bolts.

He pauses when he comes to the workbench at the head of the studio. There’s a large piece spread out across it, something much bigger than anything else in here. It’s made of wrought iron with intricate silver, gold and copper leaves soldered to the branches.

“It’s the tree of life.” You tell him as you come to stand alongside him, using a cloth to dry your hands. “It’s one of my most popular designs.”

“It’s beautiful.” He tells you, his fingertips trailing over the indentations in the metal, each one hand crafted. A blush creeps up across your cheeks and Daniel finds it endearing. You aren’t used to being appreciated, he can tell.

“When I first started the studio my ex told me this whole thing was a silly little girl’s dream.” You tell him as you gesture to the airy space around you. “He said I’d go under within a year.”

“How long has it been?” Daniel asks as he leans back against the desk.

“Three years.” You tell him as you hang the cloth up on a peg to dry.

“You are making that man eat his words.” Daniel says with a fierce sense of pride because truly you’ve accomplished something remarkable. “All of this, it’s amazing.”

“Thank you.” You say softly, your face lighting up. It’s at that moment Daniel realises you still have that smear of dirt on your cheek. He reaches out to wipe it as your eyes flicker up to meet his and in that moment he’s lost. The edges of your mouth turn up into a smile and he leans in close. The scent of your perfume floods his senses, it’s something dark, something sensual. Indian rose, he thinks with apricots, there’s an undertone of amber. It awakens something in Daniel, something he’s not felt in a long time.  

The door bangs open and the two of you break apart as one of your students hurries inside, apologising profusely for forgetting her bag.

“So what do you think?” You ask him after retrieving the item and bidding her goodnight. “Is it a good fit for Anthony?”

“Yea.” Daniel says as he looks around the room, a smile crossing his handsome features. “Yea I think it is.”

I got color names for the AvAvM characters

I used four websites which I will bullet in order for each one:

I will also sometimes be pretending their names become their literal personality/design because its fun for this post

EDIT: I forgot to say but the reason I am doing this is cuz I found out Alan Revealed official hex codes for a lot of the characters (idk when this was, I usually look at the AvA wiki and I suddenly saw it there and was like ooh this is useful) I did not do TDL or TDL cuz they are straight up just pure black and red (usually gives no other names for such pure colors although I technically never checked). The mercs did not get hex code reveals sadly (but they are multicolor so I wouldn’t do them anyway). I am not sure who else got hex reveals that I did not do other than hangman and Vic’s gray workers, but hangman is also pure black and I didn’t feel like doing anyone else. (Edited this again)

Remembrance by @blue-sunshine-mauve-morning

I finished binding Remembrance by @blue-sunshine-mauve-morning, which is the next part of The Desert Storm Epic. This is currently volume 2 of a projected 14/15 volumes!

Title font: Ghaomiec

i'm still using the lovely @celestial-sphere-press' beautiful typesets. Sticking with the current theme, i decided to do Coruscant this time, with the Jedi Temple front and centre. Egged on by Des, this design is something like 10 times more complicated and took an entire hour to weed. The bookcloth is Colibri Copper, while endpapers are @renato-crepaldi, whose papers i love. I finished the bind with gold and brown silk endbands in 3 colours. Am likely to vary it up a little with the next volume with a different bookcloth colour, just for kicks.

Next up, I do have one more FFWAD bind to complete, and once i'm done with that, my physical stack of textblocks will have decreased to 4 (SUCCESS) and i can let myself print more things. Am working on my list of author copies as usual, slowly but surely.

i'm also waiting on legal paper (in the right grain this time) very excitedly, because i want to make more legal quarto books.

Halfway done now with my project of doing all 20(!) Heresy Era legions, some are better than others but here’s what I’ve learned from each paint job so far:

Thin lines require thin paint, and adding a little yellow really helps it pop against the blue.

Gold is probably the easiest NMM at least for me. But the sword was also quite a bit easier than I thought , but next time it needs to be more irregular.

Blue shadows don’t really work on green armor, and super bright light isn’t great for mini photography. NMM Copper is fun tho

Blood technical paint goes best over a dark red undercoat

I actually fuckin DUNKED this guy in my homemade wash mixture and I couldn’t be happier with the result … for him.

Also Orange speeedpaint over a decently highlighted grey makes a very convincing rust effect.

The Eyebrow thing didn’t really work but honestly this guy is perfect.

Less Blue in NMM Steel, thinner paint for freehands (See Lightning on the Night Lord)

This was the mini that started it all, and the most half-assed. I’ll probably redo him soon but until then I really like the “ice” effect I did. The rust on the power pack eventually was refined in the Death Guard.

I don’t like painting Ultramarines. This guy is sitting in Simple Green Right Now so I can take another crack at him.

Aaaaand true to his legion I don’t have pics of my Dark Angel. Gunna have to get those when I get home but until then….
