So last night, on a whim, I did a quick analysis spreadsheet on this DVD I own from the "Best Of WB" selection that's supposed to be a celebration of the, at the time, 50th anniversary of Scooby-Doo
Tumblr media
I wanted to see the distribution of shows represented, and found this information
Tumblr media
Some interesting points of this data:
What's New and Mystery Incorporated are tied for the most episodes at 10 each. I guess those were considered the most iconic series at the time in 2019, or at the very least the easiest to pick episodes from. All of the Mystery Inc episodes I clicked into had a previously on segment upfront, so you could watch any of them without prior knowledge
The era with the least representation is the Scrappy era. I guess they still assume folks dislike the guy, though at least their exclusion of the second version of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo can be boiled down to that show being in a 3 minute shorts format while all the rest are in 11/22 minute chunks. The lack of 13 Ghosts is less excusable imo as that was the first Scooby show with an overarching plot which is pretty important imo. I guess it didn't have premade "previously on" segments and they didnt want folks to get lost?
The 2 guest star based shows are both fully omitted. There's a few reasons for TNSDMovies to be treated that way: 1) Home Media rights issues have plagued the series for a long time as all the contracts for it were created before there even was home media. The fact that theres an almost complete set now at all is a miracle, and I imagine there was no good way to get those included on here without more negotiations. 2) Those episodes are all about 45 minutes, which is part of why that series is called movies. 3) With the exception of Batman no one knows those guest stars. Sorry lol. As for Guess Who, which avoids all those issues with its full rights to home media, standard run time, and Current guest stars, there's still one good reason for its exclusion: it didnt come out til after this disc
This set is split across 5 discs and there is no organization to them at all. sometimes you'll get a disc with 3 Mystery Inc eps in a row immediately followed by a Where Are You. I guess they didn't want to make the distribution as obvious.
Speaking of distribution, the set is notably advertised as being a celebration of all 50 years of Scooby-Doo. So how well is each year represented?
Tumblr media
It seems despite What's New and Mystery Inc both beating out Where Are You in episode counts, they both had release schedules that were much more drawn out, so 1969 is the most represented year, as its where the bulk of WAY was released.
The years not present in this sheet are ones that never showed up on the disc. Some of that is due to lack of Scooby content released (the biggest gap in that is between 1991 and 2002, where no shows were released. The reason all of the APNSD eps come from 88 and 89 is because the last two seasons suffer from weird quality issues even on that series' complete release) and some of it is the complete ommission of shows as seen above.
What does all of this mean? WB considers Where Are You, What's New, and Mystery Incorporated to be the most notable entries in the franchise, with The Scooby-Doo Show (which is partially WAY and also where all the villains in Cyber Chase are from) and A Pup Named Scooby-Doo (which is where we get Norville and Coolsville from) fairly close behind. The rest are all set dressing, which is not bad to be clear, just not as important.
Oh also cause I have to with this franchise, no consideration was made by whoever was choosing this list as to cultural or racial sensitivity. Quite a few of the WAY eps have Native caricature villains and one of the 2 eps of Get A Clue included has a genuinely wild caricature of an Asian man as its villain. 2019 man.

ok so uh. here's my Big List Of Changes I'd Make To Bakuten Shoot Beyblade. off the top of my head.
s1:
be less 🤨 about some of the one-off teams. racism in beyblade is a whole can of worms that i don't feel super confident in talking about overall (seeing as how i am well. very much white) but at the very least there's a couple things that stand out as questionable and this is definitely the easiest fix in regards to that
that's about it
v-force/2002:
WHY THE HELL IS EVERYONE LIKE NOTICEABLY PALER. give them some fucking sun jfc (this also applies to g-rev)
this is one of the larger ones but include atleast an episode or two showing teams from s1. in particular i'm imagining neo-borg early on (see ozma defeating yuriy in the manga), the ppb team during the america eps, and. ok i'm admittedly not sure how you'd work baihuzu and the euro team in there but whatever
psykick should not exist. make zagart be responsible for everything from the start and call him out on all of the fucked up shit he's responsible for
instead of doing a bunch of random goon episodes make them do silly filler things with Maybe a goon thrown in at the end
g-revolution:
rubs hands together. there's a LOT to go over here for starters either treat daichi better or don't include him at all. if you were to opt to remove him then have kyojyu fight alongside takao instead
i don't actually know what to do with the world tournament but it definitely needs a full overhaul. on one hand the character balancing was doomed from the start but also i do kind of wish team cybers was there.
on the topic of the world tournament remove tao entirely. we did not fucking need the "pervy old man" archetype in beyblade. who the fuck thought that was not only okay but necessary
MAKE BARTHEZ SOLDAT MORE RELEVANT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THEY'RE ONE OF LIKE TWO INTERESTING THINGS HAPPENING.
speaking of which lean more into takao's struggles with fame
let kai and yuriy be anything more than Edgy. let them have depth. please. (i know yuriy did get to have depth for a bit but in his case i mean during the world tournament)
ideally i think takao vs kai, and really takao's battles with all of his teammates, would be a showcase of how far they've come since the start of the series. call back to their first encounters, show how they've changed, all of that stuff.
and speaking of kai. oh boy. time for the bega arc. for a long ass time i struggled to think of a reason for kai to join, but i think i've got it. after not only his loss to takao but possibly other fights during the world tournament, kai genuinely feels like he's falling behind. volkov takes advantage of this and while kai ultimately knows not to trust him, he's desperate.
this then ties into his conflict with brooklyn. brooklyn is in a similar position to how kai used to be at the start of the show, albeit less uh. Violent. so, kai not only learns how to deal with his own conflict, but also helps brooklyn deal with that same inevitability of burnout.
also, remove the whole aspect of brooklyn not enjoying beyblading because i can definitely see why the beyblade anime would be hesitant to have a character quit beyblading because they fucking hate it. this also fully allows the moral of brooklyn's story to change from "just work hard lol" to "you will never be perfect, and that's okay."
god dammit this could also tie into takao abandoning what the media and public expect of him i just now realized this one IT'S ALL COMING TOGETHER I TELL YA.
you know the clip that's like "you're taking everything i say out of context to make it sound like i think coolsville sucks" and they cut it down to "i think coolsville sucks". i want more of that vibe
here's probably The most major change. the justice 5 matches? to hell with that. instead go for a hades city-style break in, allowing everyone to showcase their own unique strengths even outside of beyblading, and letting all of the main characters win their own respective fights.
and lastly, and this is the most crucial thing: cut it with that attitude of being Cool and Edgy. you are a fucking beyblade anime, embrace that! stop trying to act like you're Above power of friendship and silly spinning tops! have some fucking whimsy in your life.
oh also i guess like. acknowledge sacred beasts existing even if they're not really plot relevant. i kind of forgot about that

🍿, 💀, 🏡, 💕, and 📀 for the ask game!
(Feel free to disregard any you've already done/split the post up lol bc I just realized I spammed a lot of emojis)
🍿 has been answered here, 💕 has been answered here and 💿 has been answered here!!
💀 scariest villain?
scrappy piloting a robot version of mondavarious and then turning into a grotesque beast version of himself in the 2002 live action movie terrified me as a kid, and still unsettled me on my rewatch as an adult. i’m sorry scrappy you deserved so much better.
🏡 coolsville or crystal cove?
honestly both, depending on the iteration of course! coolsville is so goofy and charming and makes me instantly think of “i think coolsville SUCKS” (one of my favourite jokes), whereas crystal cove has a really pretty yet eerie energy about it, befitting darker and perhaps more modern iterations of the franchise.

Okay so I finished the pilot episode of the new Mystery Incorporated show and I have so. many. thoughts. I typed these up as I was watching so they’re probably not the most eloquent. 😅 SO MANY SPOILERS so please don’t read if you haven’t seen.
Notes:
Love that Fred plays baseball!!!. Him having his baseball bat by the bed and all his little baseball trophies is a nice touch.
Looks like Daphne is a cheerleader in this one, as well as having won a few “Miss Coolsville” pageants.
Daphne’s initial outfit is perfect. I love the preppy look and the color pallet looks amazing. The greens and purples are just the right shade that nothing clashes.
The angle of Daphne being a rich girl with a lot of pressure on her is nice. I see this show taking influences from APN and SDMI (as well as the live action movies) which makes sense as those are both based within the town itself (not so much the 2002 movie or Curse of the Lake Monster but still). I’m feeling like we’ll definitely have Daphne push back against her status/pressures. I also like that they went with the Blake’s being old money and so the name/family itself holds weight.
Shaggy’s room looks pretty good (Scooby looks AMAZING!! I love him (Thor) sm!!!). It’s artfully messy which is nice. I also like leaning into Shaggy being a little more lackadaisical, with some tardies. I feel he’s definitely the type to run a little late for things. One thing I will say is I feel like the show might be edging toward making Shaggy a little rebellious which is idk. He definitely goes against the grain but I always thought of it more as an “I’m just gonna be me/do my own thing” kinda thing and less of a “I want to break the rules/be different” but maybe my vibes are off and that’s not the intention. We’ll see.
Having Shaggy’s dad be sheriff is nice. I feel like that’s a pretty common trope across teen mystery shows for practical reasons so that’s fine with me, plus it fits with his dad being a policeman in APN.
I don’t know how necessary having Fred be bullied by a group of random jocks is but again, it’s common trope. I will say it feels a little funny to have them not only bully someone immediately after their parents died but also bully them about that??? 😂 uh??
Velma’s first outfit also looks great! Right away, I think the actress (Dayeanne Hutton) might be taking some cues from Cardellini’s portrayal (that’s just my conjecture tho). Having her mom be the owner of a bookstore is cute and will probably be plot convenient later on so. Also her having a dad who’s passed on (and a mom who’s clearly struggling with that) is a nice bit of characterization. I thought Hutton really sold the “we both miss you, dad” line so it didn’t feel super expository.
I don’t love the Riverdale-style objectification of teens. The show is only ten minutes in and already lingered pretty long on Fred being either shirtless/sweaty.
Given the school’s colors, the mascot was definitely in poor taste. Some of the posters hanging up were … yeah 😕. If they’re going to have Fred be in his letterman’s or in school colors often then they should have gone with blue, I think. They may have wanted to distinguish him from the bullies but then I think the mascot would have worked better and matched Fred’s pallet. Being the blue devils would have worked better I think. The school colors do match the Cartoon Network movies pretty close (I think they were red/yellow there while here they seems to be red/white). I’m also partial to alliteration (Coolsville Cougars just sounded so cute 🥺).
Fred’s outfit (blue plaid, white t-shirt, orange backpack) is gorgeous/genius/I love it so much!!! The outfits in this have consistently been on it. Well done wardrobe. Big kudos!! Also love the orange of his notebook and binder as well. Utilize those color pallets!! We love to see it!!
Mmm, Daphne and Fred definitely have history/attraction between them. I’m wondering if, like in SDMI, Fred will be seen as not good enough for Daphne, especially as she (aka her MOM) is very concerned with appearances.
Velma having to steel herself to talk to Fred is so cute (and I like that they’re able to connect over mutual losses). Fred remembering her from geometry is really sweet (and I love the “you’re the one who sat in the back so no one could cheat off your papers” lol). I also like Fred apologizing to her for snapping. I’m so excited to see the rest of the Gang interact because I already feel the chemistry between Fred and Velma. I want them to be friends right now!!! So bad!!!
Okay the “fascinating subject” line Velma/Hutton delivered, perfect inflection on that 10/10 sounds like Velma to a T. I don’t know exactly who Hutton’s taking her inspiration from but I can definitely hear a lot of the former actresses for Velma in her.
Fred calling her “Dinkley” I like that
“My mistress science,” definitely feels like a reference to Velma’s line in Monsters Unleashed about mysteries being her mistress.
oooooooOOOOooo Velma and Fred’s parents being killed by the same mysterious force?? The plot thickens 🤔 I also really like how Fred’s actor (Dade Elza) delivered his line about Velma not being an expert of the grief Fred is feeling.
So far all of Velma’s jinkies have felt really natural. I’m so 🥹
Okay am I crazy is is Velma’s “I panicked” literally Nicole Jaffe??
I kinda wish Velma had been the one to see the demon and not her mom…now that would have been a twist…could even stick with her being more interested in science if you wanted by having her try to convince herself it was nothing only for Fred’s matching vision to make her reconsider.
Fred’s cute little “you’re gonna put that big brain of yours to use to help me solve this thing.” I’m sold on him, very much.
Also forgot to mention that this show continued to place Coolsville in OH. I’m cool with that, at this point that’s the one state that there’s *really* precedent for (tho I’m partial to CA 😜)
Is Fred also wearing orange shoes??!! 🥺
Daphne’s crew with headbands vs Ophelia’s crew with hair clips
Jonathan Jacobo reference HELLO!!! Mmmm instead of being the “Pterodactyl Ghost” tho, he’s a witness to the “Pterodactyl Demon.” Maybe he still dressed up as the Pterodactyl Ghost tho when he went on his crime spree??
Ben Ravencroft reference. Mmmm but the demon in “his movie” is Asmodeus (the demon from Curse of the 13th Ghost).
Fred appealing to Velma in exactly the way she’ll cave to. Love how this show is demonstrating his intelligence so far (as well as possibly foreshadowing his leadership skills) and how well he’ll grow to know the Gang.
Shaggy in a white van. Assuming that will end up being the Mystery Machine!!
I was wondering how they were going to have Scooby “communicate.” Looks like so far they’re having Shaggy just be able to tell what he’s thinking. I’m okay with that (and probably prefer that to him speaking through Scooby a la Kristoff for Sven) but it’ll be interesting to see how that works with the rest of the Gang. I don’t know if I‘d like if Shaggy was the only one who could “understand” him, yk?
JOY JUICE??? As in Lotsa Luck Joy Juice. Okay references for this ep get an A+. That was pretty good.
Talking to Scooby calms Shaggy down 🥺🥺🥺
“Okay, pumpkin.” 😂 ?????
Scooby’s just a gentle little guy. I do think once Shaggy got hit, Scooby could have let out a little growl or smth.
Okay so far Daphne Shaggy and Velma have all uttered their catchphrases. :)
No, no, hold up. Why is Daphne mad about the plan because it might blow back at her? Could they not have had her be outraged that they’re planning on cheating? Or that they don’t think she can win on her own and that she needs to resort to ruining the competition?
OKAY THE BOOK HAVING THE CHEST OF DEMOMS SIGIL ON IT IS SO SICK (it’s not exact but I feel like it’s definitely in imitation of it/Asmodeus!!)
“Hey, Velm” 🥹 Already evolved from Dinkley straight to the more affectionate nicknames
Fred seeing right through Velma, acknowledging she seems afraid of the unknown. Okay, I’m listening.
“I’m beginning to come around to the idea.” Want to kiss this line of dialogue so bad the Scooby vibes are immaculate
FRED BODY SHIELDING VELMA SHUT THE HELL UP. IM !!!!
Seth’s plan is…not great
Scooby Doo is a police dog?? Ehhhhhh, idk bout that one. Also him being “retired” is interesting. I feel like it could have fit that Scooby was initially brought on to be a police dog (even tho I don’t think Great Danes are typically used) but he was too friendly/easily scared so then Sheriff Rogers brought him home to his son to be Shaggy’s companion. Maybe the backstory will end up being similar. The use of retired doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but hmmm
Ahhh, so the ghost was Miner ‘49er. Awesome!!!
13 pillars = 13 ghosts style episodic takedown of the pillars. I’m pumped🙏
I really like Thorn’s necklace and Dusk’s hair. Also LOVE that they’re performing “Hex Girl.”And Thorn’s guitar looks pretty cool.
Oof the way Fred clearly wanted to go after Daphne and had to be set straight by Velma. Damn. Guy just opened a hellmouth but he sees Daph upset and he’s about ready to drop everything else.
Fred w/a plan. ❤️💕
“ You used the name” CUTE 😂
“We’re gonna have to split up…” and BAM everyone in the episode got to say their catchphrase (expect for Scooby) even if Fred’s was just an approximation of his.
Really wish the Hex Girls had fangs 😔
Miner ‘49er does look pretty spooky, I will say, and the climax was done pretty neatly.
Shaggy making his sandwich. 👏 YES
The two posters in the scene with Velma’s mom answering the phone are a French poster for Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window and the 1949 film of The Great Gatsby. Not sure if there’s significance/what the significance is but thought I’d mention it in case anyone had any ideas.
Also the subtitles list Velma’s mom as “Angie,” which is her name in SDMI. I could definitely see them taken inspiration from that version of her, given it’s the most in-depth. It also seems they might have take some inspo already, what with both SDMI Angie and this version being interested in/having past experience with the occult and running a business in which the occult is featured.
The voice of Vincent Van Ghoul!!! I’m SCREAMING. I’m actually begging them to let him be the Giles of this Scooby gang.
High Priestess Van Ghoul?? Seems like the Hex Girls are going to be allies in this but we’ll see. Glad they’re letting all of them practice a little witchcraft tho. That’s cool. Ahh and they’re keeping them in their necklaces. Also very cool.
THE BLACK KNIGHT
Really like the end credits song. It sounds great!
Okay, all the parents’ names (as they’re listed in the credits) so far are the same as they are in SDMI except Fred’s parents who were *sob* Peggy (not listed as “Peg”) and Skip. Also?? Shaggy’s dad is listed as Sheriff *Samuel* Rogers. But Daphne’s mom is listed as Nan and Velma’s mom is listed as Angie.
Other Thoughts:
I’m pleasantly surprised that this show is utilizing a lot of the rich lore Scooby Doo has surrounding the supernatural. They’re really rooting themselves in 13 Ghosts and Witch’s Ghost, etc. rather than just inventing new mythos. They’re not wasting the mythos Scooby Doo already has available. It’s really amazing and well-done so far!
I thought this episode was overall super enjoyable. It was unpolished in parts and rougher at the beginning than the end and I can see how it might go off the rails but overall it seems VERY promising and it definitely feels more Scooby Doo-like than I ever expected which is wonderful!!
I think the main actors seem like they’ve got it down. Elza and Hutton as Fred and Velma respectively really shined this episode, which makes sense as I feel they have the most to work with at this point (and the fact that they’re were the only two who were working together). It really gives me hope for how the rest of the cast might interact because you could really feel both the character and actor chemistry between Elza and Hutton. I’m so excited!!!
I really hope the rest of the gang gets involved in the hijinks soon (especially Shaggy as his story seemed the most separate). Chris Villain as Shaggy was solid. I thought he had some good physical moments (like banging his head against the locker) though I will say I didn’t feel like we saw much of Shaggy yet. It makes sense that him and Daphne were a little less themselves since I think the show will go on to highlight the Gang opening themselves up and only really dropping the masks (no pun intended) around each other so I’ll wait before casting further judgement.
It seems Daphne (played by Jessica Chancellor) will be having a pretty extensive character arc as she breaks away from her current clique and expectations to join up with the Gang (yay!).
The wardrobe for the Gang all felt really great. The effects were good. The sets were detailed and appropriate. Overall felt pretty solid for a pilot.
BIG BIG GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE INVOLVED
EDIT (after I forced my whole family to watch 😂):
My mom was saying the dealer selling Joy Juice wearing a yellow hoodie was probably a reference to Flim Flam’s classic look (can’t believe I didn’t catch that!!!)
I noticed that Shaggy walks between Fred&Velma in the hall way and gives Fred the flyer Velma pulls out of his notebook later. Feel so dumb I didn’t catch that the first time 😅

♡ ( ryan destiny, she/her, 21) - is that DAPHNE BLAKE seeking shelter in mystic falls ? i heard that SHE is from SCOOBY DOO. they’re usually known as COMPASSIONATE & INSECURE. people often associate FABRIC STREWN EVERYWHERE, STUMBLING WHEN THEY WALK, & PUZZLE SOLVING when they look at you. whispers around the town say that they DO NOT remember who they are.
biography
while daphne blake may not remember her whole life back in coolsville she certainly retained a whole bunch of those personality traits and a bit of the bubbly backstory too. daphne blake back in coolsville is an only child to rich absentee parents who let her go off and solve mysteries when she was in middle school with her best friends, and that whole thing stuck and then it became her life plan. while daphne doesn’t technically remember all of that, she does know that she’s really good at puzzles and she loves a good mystery. however, daphne has always, always, loved fashion. it’s probably her second love in life ( after the mystery inc crew, obvi ). fashion and design has always been a passion of hers, and she intends to put it to good use, always sketching her designs or working with fabric and clothes she’s already got to make something new. a daphne blake original is her true plan for the world, honestly. but she’s not exactly sure how well that would work out, or how she’d fund it all. so for now she’s doing it on the side and working to get by.
statistics
age: twenty-one
sibling(s): n/a
also called: daph, danger-prone daphne
occupation: aspiring fashion designer, but in reality she just works as a receptionist at mystic gym
fandom: there’s so many scooby doo iterations that daphne is kind of a mangled mesh of a bit of them all? i draw a lot from the cartoons ( specifically a pup named scooby doo & the four movies starting with zombie island from the 90s-00s ) as well as the live action 2002 daphne
factoids
sketches constantly with ideas for designs
they don’t call her “danger prone” for nothing! she’s a bit of a klutz, folks.
but she also tries to counter act the klutz in her by training at the gym. ha. sure daph.
always wears something purple. be it her clothing, her shoes, or even an accessory. purple is truly her signature color.
92% of time has her makeup done. like....it’s unreal if she doesn’t, or she’s working out. thems the facts.
can pick a lock.
has always wanted a dog.
read more about her on her wikipedias here or here.

anonymous asked : ❛ what sources do you pull from for daph's canon? there are so many different versions of the mystery inc. out there, it's gotta be hard to choose! ❜
WOULD IT TOTALLY BE CHEATING IF I SAID ALL? So, this is how I seperate it. I tend to go more by how the different incarnations of Daphne handle her personality and behavior.
for my main verse I draw inspiration from many different shows and movies. the straight to home video ones (aloha, moon monster madness, and others), what’s new scooby doo, a pup named scooby doo, be cool, etc. I also like to draw some inspiration from zombie island, but I reserve the “daphne has her own show” plot line for an au I have.
for my second verse, it is solely based on mystery incorporated, and I do that because asides from the totally unique plot the show has, and the fact that it is set in crystal cove and not coolsville, daphne’s a lot different here than the way I see her usually, so I like to keep those threads isolated.
I also have a verse that draws inspiration mainly from the original show and the new scooby doo movies (it’s a show, don’t be confused ha): these were my childhood, and my first real look into the scooby doo world. the tone and mystery of it is hard to describe, but the nostalgia of it all deserves its own isolated verse.
then, I have my scoob! verse, and my 2002 movie verse where I use sarah michelle gellar. also, movies such as zombie island and the 13 ghosts one tend to fall into my supernatural verse for daphne, because my main verse denies the existence of supernatural creatures.
and of course, there’s my apocalypse verse that is based off primarily scooby apocalypse, but is malleable to work with other apolcaypse threads: this verse has daphne as very aggressive and blunt, and not very emotional. a hot take, if you will! but one that has to be isolated, because it’s very different, again, from how I primarily see her.
I’m unsure as of right now if I’m going to have a separate verse for the fan made mystery incorporated show on youtube or not (probably so, because I will likely use jessica as a fc for that verse), but the verdict is still out until it’s released!
I’m 100% sure I’m forgetting to mention and acknowledge other things, but I tried my best. Honestly, anon, it is hard to choose, but when you’ve been writing a character for as long as I have, you end up with a ton of different verses, and while this may stress a lot of people out, I love it because it means I have so many different versions of her to choose from depending on my mood! and while I do have a “main” daphne protrayal I try to stick to, I don’t think playing around with all the others makes me or anyone who does that too any lesser!
I hope that answer was helpful! and as they say in coolsville, stay groovy!

i know it was a whole-hearted attempt but Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins was, in and of itself, an awful but enjoyable movie. i know i get very invested in stuff but they just...failed at everything. Shaggy and Daphne were athletes (at one point or another), Shaggy isn’t unintelligent--he’s just a coward who struggles to think in-the-moment and has a very strong fight-or-flight response (but according to this movie he may also have educational disabilities--which i appreciate the idea of--and i know he has a very high metabolism), Fred was an actor, etc. and i know i’m nitpicky but even if they wanted it to be a precursor to the 2002 movie i know they got a lot of information wrong. because the end of the movie is supposed to lead straight into the first episode of the 1969 series (”What a Night for a Knight”, where they first encounter the Black Knight Ghost, therefore also making it a prequel to the 2002 and 2004 movies respectively) and is hinted at with “weird stuff going down at the Coolsville Museum”, therefore tying it into Scooby-Doo Where are You? and while i know the series is an anthology and has multiple continuity errors they completely ignore a lot of what they need to properly tie it into either the series and/or the movies. and the plot is a mix of both movies (with the masked figure and simultaneous real supernatural elements tying together and working as one) it really just proves that, yikes, it really is just kind of a cash grab effort to expand the series on Cartoon Network’s part. there was love and effort expended by parts of the cast, they did have one of the better Shaggy actors in the movie (i really appreciate that he could somewhat imitate the voice, hopefully without straining his voice the way Matthew Lillard had to), but even i refuse to settle for brunet Fred Jones.
however, i have fond memories of it and enjoyed it when i was younger, so i have less to complain about. sure, maybe i’m out of the age range it was dedicated to then. but it was enjoyable to me when i was in that age range, so i guess i can’t complain too much, i guess.

Tumblr media
After moving where they shouldn’t, the two end up releasing several monsters and all take refuge in the school, former club. With the material in hand, Fred, Daphne and Velma start to investigate for real, while Shaggy and Scooby make a mess trying to be like the leader, a know-it-all and the class fighter. Everyone manages to escape with the book after Daphne fights the Black Knight and Velma discovers the evil creature’s weakness. Upon finding an alleged clue in the mansion (while Velma, Daphne and Fred find a book that teaches how to create monsters), Shaggy and Scooby are attacked by the Black Knight. Scooby Doo and Salsicha are embarrassed after the embarrassment they gave when trying to face the ghosts during a party and decide to be like Fred, Velma and Daphne.
