I struggled throughout grade school, not because I found the work to be too difficult, but because I didn’t take any interest in it.

To me, it was a waste of my time, because I was being forced to learn things that simply never appealed to me. I considered the bulk of what I was being force fed to be crap, and eventually I actually got kicked out of school.

This was followed by me struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction and poverty. I was lost and started to have suicidal thoughts because I wanted to end this nightmare that became my life.

So how did I change all of this? How did I go from having terrible social anxiety, to winning public speaking competitions? How did I go from poverty and living life without any purpose, to becoming financially independent and doing what I Love? How did I go from being an unhealthy alcoholic to being what most people today would probably consider a health and fitness freak? How did I go from struggling with depression to giving motivational speeches that uplift people?

The answer is self education. It literally saved my life.

Because what ultimately binds us — and enslaves us — is ignorance. What prevents us from changing our lives for the better is a lack of knowledge of how to do it.

With that said, I would like to share an excellent list of places where you can educate yourself online for free, which was originally compiled by a blogger named Marc Chernoff;

SCIENCE AND HEALTH

MIT OpenCourseWare – MIT OpenCourseWare is a free web-based publication of MIT course materials that reflects almost all the undergraduate and graduate subjects taught at MIT.

Tufts OpenCourseWare – Tufts OpenCourseWare is part of a new educational movement initiated by MIT that provides free access to course content for everyone online. Tufts’ course offerings demonstrate the University’s strength in the life sciences in addition to its multidisciplinary approach, international perspective and underlying ethic of service to its local, national and international communities.
