Astarion Contradictions and Breakups
Major spoilers for Astarion’s personal quest, The Dark Urge questline, and game endings.
When I was trying out different paths for how Astarion reacts to the Dark Urge questline something that stood out to me was the wide difference in responses Astarion has, as well as the way he contradicts himself. This essay started as a way of trying to explain “why does Ascendant Astarion tell you to take over the world when he immediately becomes a thrall” from a Watsonian (in-universe explanation) vs a Doylist (out-of-universe explanation) and wound up being a focused on; why does Ascendant!Astarion react so differently to when you break up?
There are 4 opportunities to break up with Ascendant!Astarion; 1) refuse to become his thrall immediately after the ritual you breakup and have a follow up conversation the next morning, 2) become his thrall and break up with him whenever before killing the Eldar brain, 3) break up with him on the dockside convo at the beginning of the ending, 4) in the last scene with him say you want to break up at which point he doesn’t let you: “You're mine remember? The tadpole is gone, which means your future is mine to decide. How lucky you are that I chose you as my consort. Chose you to help me take Baldur’s gate, then sit by my side as I rule it. There’s no backing out now - we’ll be together forever. I can promise you that…”.
Comparing breakup conversations with Spawn!Astarion after killing Cazador, Ascendant!Astarion responds with so much more spitefulness and defensive anger across the board, even at Spawn!Astarions most angry (breaking up with him in the literal last conversation) it doesn't match the anger and cruelty in senario 1. To me it reads as him wanting to make the player character just as hurt and upset as he is after a very emotional day and the lines get really nasty:
Tumblr media
He then won’t say anything but “why the hells are you bothering me now” until you do 3 long rests which stands out considering if you break up in any other non ending scenario he’ll talk to you pleasantly afterwards.
That conversation days afterwards is really interesting where his “goal” is to get you to agree to be partners in crime together, and in doing so is the most honest he gets about how a romantic relationship would have been unhealthy:
Tumblr media
In regards to love It's really interesting what Astarion will say about love during the conversation where he asks you to become his spawn:
Tumblr media
If the pc expresses insecurity about being a spawn he’ll reassure them and say he loves them, in a way that deliberately parallels his Act 1 seduction conversation down to the way that he starts with a degrading pet-name “what can I do for my dearest pet” vs “here’s my little treat with their cheeks all flushed”.
Just like the seduction scene he wants the pc on his side and attached to him, but if you push back on him during this conversation its clear he no longer believes in love just power exchanges:
Tumblr media
If the player stays together with Ascendant!Astarion a dialogue option is that he’s seem distant since the ritual, and he’ll imply it's due to his new powers but he does that looking to the up and right that others have mentioned he does when he lies. What makes more sense and is better character writings is the Watsonian answer of: killing all your siblings and 7,000 others (including people Astarion regretted victimizing and then had to look in the eye and condemn to death) will fuck a person up. He knows his hands are bloody so he has to believe he got everything he wanted, and he did really want this because if you leave it up to him he will chose to do the ritual vs just killing Cazador.
I think Astarion has to believe he is better (which in his view means more powerful) than his past self as part of believing the sacrifice was worth it. In scenario 2 he’ll say this if you bring up his past self:
Tumblr media
What’s a lot more interesting is if you bring up his past self in the morning after conversation of scenario 1 he’s genuinely shocked and caught off guard:
Tumblr media
What I found interesting was Astarion talks in the same way about how the ritual was worth it and the cool new powers he’ll totally get as he does advocating for endings that are bad for him. If you become the Absolute leader Astarion becomes a thrall just like all the other companions whether you do it on your own or in Bhaal’s name. For all his talk about Bhaal’s army being “an unsurpassable dowry” and how he’ll command it, he can’t do jack shit if the player defies Bhaal and then either kills themselves or becomes fully possessed by Bhaal. The Doylist answer is Larian games just have a very limited amount of endings and the characters are forever stuck at lvl 12 , the more interesting Watsonian answer is Astarian is lying/exaggerating out of ignorance or because he really doesn’t have a clue of what to do next and is trying to cover for that.
Tumblr media
The whole ritual plotline is very obviously Astarion continuing the cycle of abuse vs helping others, the abuse Cazador inflicted was akin to the abuse he suffered from Vellioth, down to Astarion commenting that Cazador’s rules came from Vellioth. It's also clear that Ascendant!Astarion has processed none of his trauma re: Cazador, after the ritual he says “I will not think about him. I don’t want to even say his name” and he shouts at you to be silent if you mention Cazador when you break up in scenario 2. I personally think Astarion sees you staying with him as a spawn degrading because he was degraded and abused when he was a spawn based on a line he has if the pc is cursed to go mad with The Dark Urge, where he relates too much to the character.
Tumblr media
I think the DnD rules of absolute morality that vampires are extremely evil is a boring answer to why Ascendant!Astarion becomes possessive and controlling, especially since Larian has pushed against that theme throughout the game. Yes Astarion has an Act 1 line about how vampires don't turn spawn into full vampires because they don't share power, in my opinion that line falls flat when considering will have kind and supportive dialogue to the player in a number of other Act 3 quests. Whether the its the Watsonian answer that Larian wasn’t going to rewrite large chunks of dialogue when there are Act 3 quests with no companion reactions or the Doylist answer that he is just extremely possessive and has attachment issues about the threat of you leaving him is an interesting dilemma.
In regards to scenario 4 it's a fucking huge contrast to Astarion's whole character arc about learning to trust and being around someone who respects his boundaries and consent, where here doesn't respect the player's boundaries or consent. It's such a contrast to scenario 3 that happens right before it where Astarion says "We have served our respective purposes, we're free to go wherever we wish" and doesn't mind you breaking up with him as if your relationship was a strategic alliance. It's also the clearest contrast from his pre-ritual dialogue of "we're a team. If I become all powerful, then we become all powerful" because he's taken away all power from the player. The Ascendant romance is not subtle with most of the romance specific dialogue being themed around an extremely toxic D/s relationship where the Narrator explicitly says he’ll see you as degrading himself by being with him as a spawn which feels like it was added to remove any ambiguity about what Astarion feels.  From the way he says “on your knees” before he turns the player character, the way he calls you “bad boy/girl” if you fail the check to see his thoughts, and that infamous line about sitting naked on his lap.
Between the heavy message of power corrupts and how the rest of his ending dialogue is about how his evil future plans will be so fun, it's a clear callback to an act 1 conversation:
Tumblr media
tldr: I don't think that corruption is as fun or as freeing as you thought Astarion, but he doesn't have to confront that fact if you're "lovers forever, until the world falls down"

More Star Trek/Edward Scissorhands crossover thoughts to go along with this post I made:
Edward understands, in concept, what a family is but he doesn't know any details about how one is supposed to function or be set up so he just assumes that the crew must be a family and forms relationships with them based off that fact.
Like, for instance, he decides that, since they're the primary authority figures on the ship that Kirk and Spock are his parents now. No it doesn't have anything to do with shipping he doesn't even know what that is, he's just decided that this is the most logical option (Spock's encouraged him to be logical so he's trying his best) and they've inadvertently encouraged this because they interact with him a lot when he first comes on board so he gets Attached. And they're the ones who take care of the crew, right? So, parents.
(this got long, so the rest under the cut)
What's honestly funnier is that Spock catches onto this faster than Kirk does (he's more used to keeping an eye out for weird human behavior and trying to figure it out) and he reacts accordingly. Which means he's now doing research on human child development in his spare time so that he can better understand what's happening and be helpful. He compares Edward's behavior to the research he does on typical human children and notes the differences he finds, what skills Edward seems to be lacking or excelling in. He also tries to figure out Edward's mental age but can't pin it down exactly, so he just notes when Edward seems to display behavior typical of a younger child or an older one. (He has graphs of all this stuff in his room for sure.)
What this, practically, translates to in his interactions with Edward is that he's much more verbally affirming and reassuring with Edward and lets Edward be much more physically affectionate with him. Which the crew notices and is... fascinated by. Especially Bones and Kirk, of course, because this is great, this is prime mocking Spock material and they absolutely do until they finally have a meeting about it in sickbay (Bones and Kirk are calling it an intervention).
So Spock rolls his eyes humors them and explains the research he's been doing on human children and what they need to thrive which leaves Bones and Kirk a little slack-jawed and then Spock whips it around on Kirk like, "Captain I would have expected you to also be taking this approach, since Edward has accepted you as his other primary caregiver." "...He's done what?" "Yes, isn't it obvious? He has intuitively grasped the chain of command on board the ship and put us into the role of parental figures." *Kirk gaping at him, Bones wheezing with laughter in the background* "Haven't you noticed, captain, that when Edward needs something he typically seeks one of us out? If we are not available-" "He comes in here looking for me or nurse Chapel." "Precisely, doctor. So, as you can both see, I am merely taking an interest in Edward's wellbeing for both his own sake and development and to continue to ensure the smooth running of the ship." "Explain that last part, Mr. Spock," Kirk requests after picking his jaw up off the floor. "Certainly captain; human children who are neglected or abused tend to develop problems that affect not only their development, but also their households and relationships with others. Therefore, Edward's wellbeing is connected to that of the ship." "Quite logical, Mr. Spock." "Thank you, captain."
After this, Kirk has a mild crisis because apparently on top of being the captain of a starship he is now also a parent. But he accepts it pretty quickly and proceeds to start taking it waaaaay too seriously and trying to overcompensate for the time he didn't realize he was Edward's dad now. I'm not 100% sure how that translates but I feel in my heart that it's right since Kirk is the most over-dramatic man in Starfleet.
Perhaps that's when the Pet Store Incident happens. Basically Edward somehow acquires a tribble and when Kirk finds out he is like absolutely not we are yeeting that thing off the ship immediately- except this absolutely devastates Edward so now Kirk has to find a way to make it up to him and he can't just like, spend extra time with the kid, no, he's going to take Edward to an intergalactic pet store, because there is no possible way that could go wrong, right?
So, despite warnings from both Spock and Bones, Kirk takes Edward down to this space petshop and honestly it might have been fine. Edward's so enamored with all the little critters he's not even worried about picking one. They could have managed to leave without even getting a pet if Kirk hadn't decided to make small talk with the shopkeeper, who lets it slip that, "Oh yeah, if we don't manage to find homes for them before they grow up we just ship them off to the butcher. Yeah, some of these are delicacies, people pay good money for 'em-" and Kirk just starts sweating and slowly looks up at Edward praying he hasn't heard that-
And Edward's standing there, covered in small animals, with the most horrified expression Kirk has ever seen on his face and oh he is cooked-
Kirk walks over to him hoping he can maybe, somehow, mitigate this, convince Edward the shopkeeper was joking, anything, but the first thing Edward says is, "We have to save them." and Kirk just sighs and accepts his fate. "Okay, Edward, but this has to be your mission then. You have to find them all good homes in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not spending the next six months on a ship infested with small alien creatures, we'll get complaints."
And Edward just beams at him and Kirk is so done but how can he even be upset, he walked right into this. So he lets Edward use his communicator to contact the ship and he was supposed to just get routed through to Spock but Uhura helpfully turns the com on speaker so the entire bridge can hear. Kirk told Edward to tell them to convert a cargo bay into a zoo holding room for all the animals. Edward happily relays this and why they're doing it. The bridge crew is in stitches. Kirk will never hear the end of this.
Spock relays the situation to Scotty, who complains about having to convert one of the cargo bays and grumbles, "Has the captain gone mad?" to which Spock replies, "I doubt it, Mr. Scott, especially seeing as it was not the captain's idea." "Well then who's was it then?" "Edward's, after he realized that the animals would be killed if they were not rescued." ".... Well why didn't you start with that then?! That's a different matter entirely!"
The animals are all safely beamed on board the ship once enclosures are made for them. The ship's expert on alien animals is brought in to help and oh my goodness is she having the time of her life getting to observe and study all these critters. The crew helps Edward find homes for all the critters (he spends a lot of time making calls to people with Uhura) where they will not be eaten.
Edward does keep one, it's a little catlike creature that eventually grows wings. When it's little he carries it in his pocket and when it's older it drapes itself over his shoulders. No one knows what species it is or what planet it's from (it's probably covered in a future episode) but it's not a woman disguised as a cat like the other alien cats in this show. It loves Edward unconditionally and if anyone is ever mean to him while his cat is around she BITES. She's very mischievous, but usually only causes a moderate amount of trouble.
Alright, I'll stop there, I hope you enjoyed reading this silliness. xD

i think the most annoying part of dog food discourse is how many people will act as though proplan/hill’s/Royal canin diets aren’t extremely and prohibitively expensive and that THAT is the reason so many people look into healthy alternatives.
People complain about corn being in the first five ingredients on most of those feeds because, regardless of other factors here, that is not an expensive ingredient. But it makes up a large chunk of the dry food. So the dry food should be fairly affordable, right?
Tumblr media
Oh… with tax you’re spending about $100 for one 45lb bag of food where the third ingredient is wheat and the fourth and fifth ingredients are corn.
Tumblr media
Oh… well! It’s slightly cheaper! But the second ingredient is rice, third is wheat, fourth is corn, and then fifth is poultry byproduct. None of those are very expensive so this just must be the low end cost of dog food unfortunately. The vets recommend it so surely that means prices aren’t inflated, right?
Tumblr media
Oh? This one has similar ingredients with the only real difference being no corn? And it’s half the price?? Well surely that’s just a fluke.
Tumblr media
Oh. Oh no.
Tumblr media
This one even has CORN in it and it’s $20 cheaper?? Wow!
Like listen at some point I don’t care if your dog food has the ichor of the gods in it, I’m not spending $100 every five days if there are cheaper options with just as many “good” ingredients in it. If you think I’m a dog abuser because I can’t afford this overpriced garbage, that’s too bad. I don’t care. My dogs are perfectly healthy with the food I give them. Great weight and great coat. People giving dog food recommendations that aren’t those top three hyper-expensive dog foods aren’t trying to epic own those dastardly vets half the time, but I really don’t blame the ones who do lose trust in vets when the only heartworm protection they recommend lately are expensive triple-action brands like Simparica Trio that costs $120+ as opposed to the other heartworm protections that are only about $40-$60 on average, which is still cheaper even if you add on a $20-$40 flea and tick protection separately, and only recommend dog food that costs $85+ a bag even if your dog doesn’t have specialized dietary needs.
Those top three foods are GREAT at making competent prescription diets, I don’t deny that. I do still have to criticize the pricing of those prescription diets though because I have spoken to DOZENS of people who had to pull their pets off of a prescription diet and struggle to find something comparable because they couldn’t afford the food, and that’s terrible! These are not poor companies! Purina, Royal Canin, and Hill’s can ABSOLUTELY afford to lower their prices to make their food accessible to people who need it for their animals but they don’t. They probably never will. Because at the core they are run by greedy corporations. It doesn’t matter how many good nutritionists are on board if the company is run by people who put profits over customers and make the food impossible for people to afford.
#I keep seeing posts from people on both sides of this#and it is frustrating to see how many vets don’t seem to acknowledge#that a MASSIVE part of the dog food debate has and always will be#the inaccessibility of these three brands#because whether corn is good or bad or neutral for a dog#It’s a cheap ingredient#any meat byproducts are a cheap ingredient#wheat in any form is a cheap ingredient#rice is a cheap ingredient#they aren’t putting Diamond dust and gold flakes in the kibble it’s very accessible and affordable ingredients for the most part#and many comparatively smaller companies use very similar ingredients and make food people can actually afford#So yeah when people look at these factors it does make them distrust vets who will almost exclusively push expensive brands#and that’s where the distrust is coming from#it’s not primarily smug tiktok kids who think they know everything#it’s just people who have less money than you and get treated like they care less for their animals because of it lol#and people who feel scammed because anything veterinary is already expensive to the point not everyone can afford it as regularly as needed#the fact people have to give pets vaccines themselves to make ends meet because most vets charge so much just to walk in the door#is a sign of a larger problem#I criticize people who avoid taking animals with surprise sickness or injuries to the vet#but it’s not exactly hard to see why that isn’t even an option for a lot of people#people can’t even afford surgery on themselves if they’re suddenly injured out of the blue in this country#So I can’t pretend to be shocked they don’t have $10k squirreled away if something unavoidable happens to a pet#no one is entitled to an animal they can’t afford yes yes but a routine vet visit shouldn’t be $600-$1000 per animal sorry#give me a copay or something

Deep Cleaning vs Regular Cleaning: What's Right for Your Bedford Home?
Tumblr media
Cleaning your home is essential for comfort, health, and general well-being, but not all cleaning is equal. If you're living in Bedford and wondering whether your home needs a regular or full-scale deep clean, you're not alone. Many homeowners and tenants in Bedford ask the same question: what's the difference between deep cleaning and regular cleaning, and when should each be used?
This comprehensive guide will explore both cleaning types, compare their benefits, and help you determine which service best suits your home's needs. Whether you live in a modern flat in the town centre or a traditional cottage on the outskirts, understanding the difference will ensure your living space stays fresh, hygienic, and welcoming.
What Is Regular Cleaning?
Regular cleaning, often called domestic or routine cleaning, is the maintenance cleaning that keeps your home tidy and hygienic weekly or bi-weekly. It is the chore most people are familiar with and perform regularly.
Common tasks in regular cleaning include:
Vacuuming carpets and rugs
Sweeping and mopping hard floors
Dusting surfaces and furniture
Wiping down kitchen countertops
Cleaning sinks and taps
Light bathroom cleaning (toilet, sink, shower)
Emptying bins
General tidying up
Regular cleaning helps control dirt, dust, and grime daily. It's great for maintaining a clean home environment and reducing allergens and bacteria, but it doesn't go as far as deep cleaning.
What Is Deep Cleaning?
Deep cleaning goes beyond the surface. It's a detailed, intensive cleaning session designed to eliminate built-up dirt, hidden dust, limescale, mould, and bacteria that regular cleaning often misses.
Tasks included in a deep clean typically cover the following:
Cleaning behind and underneath furniture and appliances
Descaling bathroom fixtures
Deep-cleaning ovens, extractor fans, and hobs
Washing walls, skirting boards, doors, and frames
Internal window cleaning
Cleaning inside kitchen cupboards and drawers
Shampooing carpets and cleaning upholstery (optional)
Sanitising high-touch areas such as switches and handles
Deep cleaning is more labour-intensive and time-consuming than regular cleaning but offers a more thorough and satisfying result.
Key Differences Between Regular and Deep Cleaning
Let's break down the primary distinctions to help you see where each cleaning type excels:
Feature Regular Cleaning Deep Cleaning
Frequency Weekly or fortnightly Every 3–6 months or as needed
Scope Surface-level cleaning Detailed, thorough cleaning
Areas covered General areas, high-traffic zones Every corner, including hard-to-reach spots
Time required: 1–2 hours, typically 4–8 hours, depending on home size
Equipment used Standard tools (vacuum, mop) Advanced tools (steam cleaners, specialist products)
Cost Lower Higher, but less frequent
When to Choose Regular Cleaning for Your Bedford Home
Regular cleaning is ideal if:
Your home is already relatively clean
You want to maintain tidiness between deeper cleans
You have a busy schedule and need weekly support
You live in a smaller flat or apartment
You don't have pets or young children
In Bedford, many residents book weekly or fortnightly regular cleaning to maintain their homes' appearance and cleanliness. This is especially common in family homes, professional households, and shared accommodations.
When to Choose Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning is the better option if:
You haven't cleaned your home thoroughly in months
You're preparing for or recovering from an event or party
You're moving in or out of a property
You're tackling spring or autumn cleaning
Someone in the household has been ill
You're dealing with stains, odours, or excess dust
Deep cleaning is a must before renting or selling a home in Bedford, and it's especially helpful in older properties where hidden grime and allergens can accumulate over time.
Benefits of Regular Cleaning
1. Maintains a Tidy Home
Weekly cleaning keeps your living space in order and prevents dirt from building up.
2. Time-Saving
By keeping things manageable, regular cleaning saves time in the long run.
3. Improves Daily Comfort
A tidy environment reduces stress and creates a calm atmosphere.
4. Cost-Effective
Since it's done more frequently, each session is usually shorter and less expensive.
Benefits of Deep Cleaning
1. Thorough Cleanliness
Deep cleaning tackles the dirt and bacteria you can't see, making your home feel brand new.
2. Healthier Living Environment
By removing hidden allergens and mould, it contributes to better respiratory health.
3. Great for Special Occasions
Ideal before hosting holidays or welcoming a new baby.
4. Boosts Property Value
A deep clean improves the condition and appearance of your home, which is a plus if you're renting or selling.
Combined Approach: The Best of Both Worlds
Many Bedford homeowners choose a combined cleaning strategy:
Regular cleaning every week or fortnight
Deep cleaning every 3–6 months or seasonally
This hybrid approach keeps your home fresh while ensuring no area is overlooked for too long.
Some cleaning companies in Bedford offer bundled packages that include periodic deep cleans alongside regular sessions at a discounted rate—something to consider if you're looking for ongoing services.
Professional Cleaning Services in Bedford: What to Expect
Hiring a professional cleaning company in Bedford means you get experienced, trained cleaners using high-quality equipment and products. Here's what you can typically expect:
A walkthrough or consultation to assess your home's needs
Transparent pricing with no hidden fees
Customisable cleaning packages
Insurance coverage for peace of mind
Eco-friendly and child-safe cleaning options (on request)
Many local companies offer tailored services for:
Family homes
Student houses
Flats and apartments
Retirement homes
Whether you live in Bedford Town, Kempston, Brickhill, or any surrounding village, you'll find cleaning providers ready to accommodate your schedule and preferences.
How Much Do Cleaning Services Cost in Bedford?
Here's a general idea of what you might pay:
Regular Cleaning:
Weekly or fortnightly service
2–3 hours per visit
£15–£20 per hour or £35–£50 per session
Deep Cleaning:
One-off service
4–8 hours, depending on home size
£90–£300+, depending on the level of detail and extras (e.g. carpet or oven cleaning)
Always request a detailed quote and ask what's included in the price.
DIY vs Professional: Which Is Right for You?
While many people in Bedford choose to clean their homes themselves, professional services save time and deliver a more comprehensive result.
Consider DIY if:
You enjoy cleaning and have the time
You live in a small home or flat
You want to save money
Go professional if:
You're time-poor
You want guaranteed results
You need a deep clean that goes beyond your tools and expertise
Final Thoughts
The choice between deep and regular cleaning depends largely on your home's condition, lifestyle, and goals. For many Bedford residents, the answer isn't either-or—it's a thoughtful combination of both.
Regular cleaning keeps your space manageable, comfortable, and visually clean. Deep cleaning provides a reset, reaching places regular cleaning doesn't and delivering a healthier, fresher environment.
Whether you handle it yourself or hire a professional, understanding the purpose and power of each cleaning method will help you keep your home in Bedford looking and feeling its best all year round.
If you're still unsure which service is right for your property, consider booking a consultation with a local cleaning expert. Many offer free assessments and can help you design a cleaning plan tailored to your home's unique needs and lifestyle.

"mini" rant abt bp, dont mind me
tbh what bothers me most abt bp isnt even the pricing, its how its set up as a whole
like, lets look at examples from pgr and pnc, the main 2 gachas i maintain
first up, pnc
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the 1st img just shows what you get from bp, that being 2 options:
option 1 ($9.99): you get a skin of a certain char that changes every month + a bunch of currency for banners and just general materials
option 2 ($14.99): everything from option 1 + exclusive decorative items like a profile frame or background to customize your profile, all those decorative items are themed around the char skin you also get
youre not forced to get option 1 to get option 2, option 2 automatically gives you everything from option 1
the 2nd img is how you increase bp level. "but its just the dailies and weeklies tabs" you might be wondering (or not idk lol), but thats exactly it. you increase bp lvl by simply playing the game like you normally would any other day, no additional tasks outside of that
now lets take a look at pgr, which has a different formatting of bp but the concepts relatively the same
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just like w pnc, you have 2 options, but this time, these options are completely unrelated from each other
option 1 (30 rc or $5.99): lets you get mats and gacha currency for pets
option 2 (68 rc or $11.99): lets you get a weap skin, gacha currency, and other general mats for chars
the actual $ prices for these options give you extra rc, idk just wanted to point that out lol
again, you are not forced to get option 1 to get option 2 or vice versa. this bp system lets you pick which option you want to buy as they both have completely different uses— you could even buy both if you wanted to
Tumblr media
similar to pnc, the way you increase bp lvl is by playing the game like you normally would (i.e. doing your dailies and weeklies). the only addition to this is that theres also event missions, which are very achievable since most of the time the main requirement is to simply just play the events that are currently running during the patch
now lets look at bp in whb
Tumblr media
as most of us know by now, you need to buy the advanced tier before getting the superior tier
ideally, we should be able to unlock the superior tier and automatically get everything from the advanced tier, but ig not :') we gotta spend $10+ on top of the $43 just for like 1 sig and general mats :')))
and to progress through bp, we would need to do a multitude of things outside of doing dailies/weeklies, ultimately struggling either due to lack of resources like not having enough tears or having the inability to progress through unholy board if either the ones incomplete rely on pies/insane amounts of tears or youre stuck on needing to get a char's sig
theres also the fact that logging in everyday is a requirement, and that you cannot progress to the next stage without completing the previous one. this would be detrimental to those who either join the game late or start on bp late, as youre essentially unable to progress bc of real time.
honestly an "easy" fix would just be to remove the login requirement, but i can kinda get why the requirement is there just so it forces players to at least log on and maybe play
another thing that irks me is that f2p users still need to "unlock" the advanced/superior rewards despite not even be able to collect those rewards. ideally the free and advanced/superior tiers should be displayed in seperate tiers so at least we can see whats obtainable for free and whats behind a paywall. f2ps shouldnt need to unlock the p2w stuff, they should just need to only unlock the free stuff
theres also the fact that whb's bp isn't like most bps in gachas. bp is generally a monthly thing, while whb has it every once in a while. maybe in the future it would become a monthly thing but rn its essentially a p2w event
now to address the elephant in the room, the prices. i cant compare whb's prices to pgr or pnc, as both pgr and pnc are made by big companies that have been doing this stuff for a while and pb consists of a mere fraction of that. also, pnc and pgr give skins aka cosmetics in bps, not whole chars. yes, pgr gives shards to help boost a char's ranks, but it isnt enough to straight up get the whole char through bp (ignoring bp shop). if i had more knowledge on how pb prices packs/bp/seals aside from it being lower than the usual gacha games in jp servers, mayb i could form a stronger opinion, but rn i cant say much without comparing prices to bigger companies.
theres also the fact that erolabs users have to pay $3-5 more than app store users. while to some that doesnt sound like a lot, im very much a 'every penny counts' kinda guy and $3-5 extra to pay compared to normal is a huge turn off for wanting to spend on this game
thankfully w this bp at least juno isnt dependent on needing specific l ranks (>looks at gabriel needing michael and raphael to work effectively), i just hope that it stays like that? as in, i hope the characters that show up in bp dont need to have other l ranks that are dependent on them
anyw rants over i just wanted to let that out my system 💀

Made to Order: Creator's Pet Runners-Up ~
Our runners-up this week are @corporalotherbear, @grornt, and @hanavesinauttija!

Even all these years later, I still love me some Ensoul Artifacts. This is a finely tuned package of effects that really does feel tailor-made for the archetype. On-demand animation that can repeated as many times as you have mana or targets is already a great bit of utility that more than makes up for the slight steepness of the associated cost compared to similar options. It also boasts the ability to grow smaller artifact creatures you may have lying around thanks to the lack of a noncreature rider. The real standout here is the second effect, though. I love how the placement of the tap cost forces you to pick the best target in any given situation and forces a degree of commitment to get the most out of it that leaves a window for a clever opponent to exploit. While the typical situation will just have you spend 4 for an unblockable 4/4, there are sure to be plenty of times when you'll have something larger lying around or are content to only spend mana on the second ability to chip in with something smaller. My only gripe is the fact that it can target itself, which feels like it goes a bit against the spirit of the effect somewhat.

I'm a big fan of the fact that "somewhat to extremely specific Future Sight effect" has somewhat come into vogue recently. It's a great source of card advantage that rewards clever deck construction, and just feels fun to play in general. Multicolor is a good category to tackle there too, as it enforces a degree of specificity without carrying a specific theme with it, meaning you're free to build your own out of whatever multicolored cards most strike your fancy. Gates are a fair deal more specific, and aren't really seen outside of extremely dedicated strategies or limited, but the strong Ravnica flavor nearly necessitates it. Having the card itself be "multicolored," by it only costing one color and declaring itself all-colored, is pretty smart. The fewer cards a multicolor support card is, the more unqiue color combinations it can reasonably fit into, so logically making it the fewest colors opens up the most amount of versatility. Although, to be honest...I mostly just like multicolor-matters strategy because I like how the frames look.

While the ongoing trend of trigger doubling seems to be pretty hit-or-miss with most players, I usually find myself on board. While they tend to be as explosive as you would expect something that increases the potency of effects multiplicatively to be, they're quite fun as long as they feel relatively "fair." Principally, this is by far one of the more specific conditions I've seen for one of these effects, which goes a ways towards justifying its low cost and versatile self-protection. On the subject of its protection, making it a slow blink feels very smart. Even if your opponent fails to remove them, you're still left without the doubling effect for the rest of the current turn. This can potentially be really disruptive to a gameplan, especially if the stack has several triggers you would really love to have doubled immediately afterwards. But to backtrack a bit, this really does feel "fair." Like, it's not doing anything that Panharmonicon and its ilk don't already have covered, but the specificity goes a long way towards not drawing as much ire from opponents as these effects usually do. At the very least, I can say I'd be a lot less concerned to see this on the other end of a Commander table than I would to see the Mother of Machines.

That's about it! Commentary's definitely coming this week, pinkie swear. @spooky-bard

Recent adventure in fiber blending and spinning. I did about six passes on my blending board with a pet brush to blend a mix of corriedale, merino, faux cashmere, mystery wool from a grab bag, sparkle, and recycled sari silk. It worked out to ~24g total, which I split between three rolags. Spinning it up longdraw on my teacup supported spindle. I basically wanted to see how well I could blend different types of fibers without a drum carder, and the answer is pretty well if I'm willing to dedicate the time to it. The main drawbacks are that it's time & labor intensive, limited to the amount of fiber I can fit on my blending board (~25g), and I felt like it introduced more nepps than a drum carder would have. Granted, that last point is debatable since I don't have a drum carder or extensive experience with one to compare to. Fine fibers like merino and faux cashmere can be more prone to nepps in woolen preps, my blending board does not have a high-TPI carding cloth more suitable for fine fibers, and I didn't use an anti-static or detangling spray while blending, so I could possibly reduce nepps in the future with a couple of changes. I didn't get a terrible amount of nepps anyway and they haven't impacted my enjoyment of the spin. My verdict is that I'm still going to save up for wool combs and a drum carder, but in the meantime it's a viable option for me to use my blending board this way.

10. Where were you born?
Masuria (southern part of former East Prussia, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE CALLED EAST PRUSSIA, "EAST" PRUSSIA WAS THE ORIGINAL PRUSSIA, THEN ONE OF THE PRUSSIAN RULERS GOT BRANDENBURG INTO HIS COUNTRY AND CALLED THE WHOLE THING PRUSSIA, AND NONSENSICALLY RENAMED PRUSSIA PROPER "EAST", LIKE THERE'S MANY DUMB NAMES IN THE WORLD BUT EAST PRUSSIA TAKES THE FUCKING CAKE), Poland

Don't we all?
I mean honest to God if the option arised I'm sure a good chunk of people would dice towards it ignoring any consequences.
Because this is all we've longed for, for so long.
There's been an uptick I me hearing others talking about just doing stuff like living off grid as well, If I don't get to go on my fantasy adventure I want to work with some others and build a God damn castle and farm in the middle of nowhere.
But no! You still gotta pay taxes even if you "own" the land. So you can't remain completely isolated. You have to interact with the outside world and society to sell products or do something to pay taxes. I want to buy a large chunk of land and make my own paradise if I don't get to drift off to another world better than this one.
But obviously I'd need several different specialists on board with the plan. Plus clashing attitudes in projects like these are always the biggest hurdles.
Along with making sure everyone pulls their own weight.
So yeah, if my adventure doesn't come to me. I'm building my own. Cause I honest to God don't think I'll survive normal society for an average lifetime. I think it'll drive me mad.
So desperately I wish to find my wardrobe door to Narnia, to get my letter to hogwarts, to have a satyr guide me to camp half blood.
Anything would do at this point. Cause I'm getting to old for childhoods grasp to allow these things anymore and I feel like I missed all my chances.
Hell, watching movies like Free Willy as a kid made me wish to run away despite having a great father. Just so I could find a better way to live. To find my adventure society stole from me.
I think there's a quote that goes something like "When there are no more adventures left. The only adventure is to tear down society." Or something like that.
And I read the quote when I was a little kid growing up on movies like that kid movie where a kid runs off into the wilderness with a pet raccoon or something and steals and eagle baby to train it to hunt for him. He avoids society for a year or two before adults find him I think.
And Gary Paulson's Hatchet books.
I just want to leave. But you need money to do anything and I'm part of a generation that probably won't even ever get to own houses much less go explore our own world. So yeah. Of course I want to be whisked away somewhere.
I saw how difficult society was compared to the books and movies I clung too. The stories that kept me afloat in my own mind. Realized I missed out on some social development and couldn't fix that. Couldn't fit in unless I was with others who struggled to do the same. Just cause they brushed off inconsistencies and issues easier. Some missed social cues just like me as well.
Damn. I just really want to go somewhere more magical than this.
so did you lay in bed blasting fireflies by owl city as a kid staring up at the ceiling while imagining running away to a happier place bc you grew up on fairy tales and make believe stories since you didnt really have the best social skills due to undiagnosed neurodivergency and thus didnt have a lot of friends so you spent all that extra time you had induldging in fictional stories and then grew up believing maybe one day youd get to go on a magical adventure like those stories had so youd spent so much time just longing for an escape and to go somewhere you understood bc you didnt understand people but you did understand all those stories you read or are you normal

How to Book the Perfect Villa in Lonavala for Your Weekend Getaway
Tumblr media
Nestled in the Sahyadri hills of Maharashtra, Lonavala is a scenic paradise that draws countless travelers for its lush green landscapes, misty mountains, and peaceful vibes — especially during weekends. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a family outing, or a friends’ reunion, choosing the right place to stay can make or break your experience. And nothing beats the charm of staying in a private villa. If you’re ready to book villa in Lonavala for your perfect weekend retreat, here’s everything you need to know.
Why Choose a Villa Over a Hotel?
While hotels may offer convenience, villas bring privacy, space, and a personalized atmosphere that’s hard to match. When you book villa in Lonavala, you’re not just renting a place to sleep — you're creating a bespoke experience tailored to your group’s needs.
Villas often include multiple bedrooms, private gardens, swimming pools, barbecue areas, and even in-house staff. They’re ideal for intimate gatherings, celebrations, or simply unwinding in peace.
Step-by-Step Guide to Booking the Ideal Villa
🏡 1. Know Your Group Size and Needs
Start by assessing how many people will be staying and what amenities are essential. Do you need a pet-friendly space? Is a pool non-negotiable? Do you require accessibility features or child-safe spaces? Defining these early on helps filter out unsuitable options and narrows your search.
💻 2. Choose the Right Booking Platform
There are several platforms where you can book villa in Lonavala, including Airbnb, Booking.com, SaffronStays, Vista Rooms, and local travel websites. Always compare listings across platforms, checking for verified hosts, real reviews, and cancellation policies. Some platforms also offer exclusive deals for early bookings or longer stays.
🗓️ 3. Book in Advance (Especially During Peak Season)
Lonavala is a popular destination during weekends, long holidays, and the monsoon season. Booking your villa well in advance ensures better availability and pricing. Last-minute bookings might lead to compromises on location or amenities.
🛏️ 4. Check Photos and Virtual Tours
Photos can say a lot — and hide even more. Look for high-resolution images of all key areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, pool, living room, and outdoor space. If available, take a virtual tour to get a realistic sense of the villa’s layout and condition.
🔍 5. Read Reviews Carefully
Pay attention to guest reviews — especially the most recent ones. They can reveal important details about cleanliness, service quality, maintenance, and neighborhood quietness. Look for recurring issues that might affect your stay.
Key Features to Look For in a Weekend Villa
Private Pool or Jacuzzi: Ideal for relaxing evenings.
Indoor Entertainment: Board games, smart TVs, music systems, or even a home theatre.
Outdoor Spaces: Balconies, patios, or garden areas with views.
Kitchen Facilities: Great if you plan to cook or have specific dietary needs.
Caretaker or Cook Services: For a stress-free stay.
Pro Tips for a Smooth Experience
Communicate with the Host: Ask about check-in times, local attractions, security measures, and any additional charges.
Clarify Inclusions: Some villas charge extra for pool use, cleaning, or kitchen access — get these in writing.
Have a Backup Plan: Especially during monsoons, weather disruptions can occur, so check for flexible policies.
Final Thoughts
Choosing to book villa in Lonavala for your weekend getaway is one of the best ways to escape the urban chaos and immerse yourself in nature with comfort and style. With the right planning, a well-chosen villa offers more than just accommodation — it provides a memorable experience tailored to your relaxation and joy.
Whether you’re gazing at misty hills from your balcony or enjoying a swim under the stars, a villa in Lonavala is the perfect setting for making weekend memories that last.

Laminate vs. Hardwood: A Comparative Analysis for Homeowners
Tumblr media
Introduction Choosing the right flooring for your home is a big decision, especially when comparing laminate and hardwood flooring. Both options are highly popular in modern and traditional homes, offering distinct benefits and aesthetics. While hardwood flooring is loved for its natural elegance and classic charm, laminate flooring has evolved into a smart, cost-effective alternative with impressive durability and minimal upkeep.
In this guide, we’ll explore the key differences between laminate and hardwood flooring to help you make an informed decision. Whether you're renovating your home or building a new one, this comparison will clarify which flooring solution suits your lifestyle, budget, and interior goals. What Is Laminate Flooring? Laminate flooring is a multi-layered synthetic flooring product designed to replicate the look of natural wood or stone. It typically includes a wear-resistant top layer, a photographic image layer, a dense core made of HDF (high-density fiberboard), and a backing layer.
Laminate is one of the most sought-after products from top laminate sheet manufacturers and laminate companies in India due to its versatility, affordability, and ease of installation. It’s especially favored by homeowners looking for an attractive yet budget-friendly solution for high-traffic areas.
What Is Hardwood Flooring? Hardwood flooring consists of solid wood planks or engineered wood. It’s celebrated for its authentic look, warmth, and luxurious appeal. Each plank features natural wood grains, making every installation unique.
Though more expensive and requiring more care than laminate, hardwood flooring is a long-term investment that can last for generations. It is often preferred in premium projects by homeowners looking for timeless sophistication. Durability: Which Lasts Longer? Laminate Flooring Thanks to its tough outer layer, laminate flooring is scratch-resistant, fade-resistant, and moisture-resistant. These qualities make it an ideal choice for active households, pet owners, or families with children. Leading laminate board suppliers offer premium laminate solutions built to withstand everyday wear and tear.
Hardwood Flooring Hardwood is naturally strong but can be vulnerable to scratches, dents, and moisture damage. However, it holds a distinct edge in terms of longevity because it can be sanded and refinished multiple times, something laminate cannot offer. Aesthetics: Natural vs. Realistic Appeal Laminate Flooring With advanced printing and embossing technologies, modern laminate flooring closely mimics real wood. It comes in a variety of textures, shades, and grain patterns—many offered by top laminate sheet manufacturers in India. However, it may still lack the depth and variation of natural hardwood.
Hardwood Flooring Hardwood provides genuine beauty with organic imperfections and rich textures that age gracefully over time. For homeowners looking for a truly luxurious, natural ambiance, hardwood is the winner. Cost Comparison: Laminate vs. Hardwood Laminate Flooring Laminate is significantly more affordable than hardwood. Its lower production and installation costs make it a go-to choice for those on a budget. Many laminates companies in India provide high-quality laminate products that blend affordability with aesthetics. Hardwood Flooring Hardwood involves higher upfront material and labor costs. However, it can increase your home’s resale value and offers long-term ROI. It's ideal for those who see flooring as a premium investment. Maintenance: Which Is Easier to Care For? Laminate Flooring Low maintenance is one of laminate’s strongest selling points. Regular sweeping and light mopping are usually enough to keep it clean. The stain-resistant surface is perfect for busy homes and is a top recommendation by laminate board suppliers. Hardwood Flooring Hardwood requires careful maintenance to prevent scratches and water damage. Cleaning should be done with approved wood cleaners, and periodic refinishing is necessary to preserve its beauty.
Environmental Impact: Which Is More Sustainable? Laminate Flooring Being a synthetic product, laminate is less eco-friendly than hardwood. However, some laminate sheet manufacturers are adopting greener practices by using recycled content. Still, laminate isn’t biodegradable. Hardwood Flooring Hardwood, when sourced responsibly, is a renewable and biodegradable material. Many options today are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), making it the greener choice for environmentally conscious homeowners. Installation: Ease & Efficiency Laminate Flooring Most laminate floors use a click-lock mechanism that allows for quick and mess-free installation. This floating floor system is a favorite among DIY enthusiasts and cuts down on labor costs. Hardwood Flooring Installing hardwood is more complex and requires professional expertise. It must be nailed or glued to a prepared subfloor, making the process longer and costlier but resulting in a robust, lasting floor. Longevity: Which Flooring Option Offers More Years? Laminate Flooring Laminate can last 10–20 years with proper care. However, since it can’t be refinished, replacement may be necessary once it’s worn or damaged. Hardwood Flooring With proper maintenance, hardwood can last 50 years or more. The ability to refinish gives hardwood an edge in long-term performance and aesthetics.
Resale Value: Which Flooring Adds More Value? Laminate Flooring Laminate boosts interior appeal and is a solid budget choice. But in terms of real estate resale, it doesn’t add as much perceived value as hardwood. Hardwood Flooring Real estate agents and homebuyers often rate hardwood flooring as a top-tier feature. It can significantly boost resale value, making it a strategic investment. Conclusion: Making the Right Choice for Your Home Both laminate and hardwood flooring offer excellent solutions depending on your lifestyle, design preference, and budget. If you want a cost-effective, easy-to-maintain flooring option with plenty of design flexibility, laminate from reliable laminate sheet manufacturers or laminate board suppliers is a great choice. If you’re after luxury, authenticity, and long-term durability, hardwood remains the gold standard. When choosing between the two, consider your household needs, long-term plans, and overall home design. Whether you go with premium hardwood or modern laminate from a top laminate company in India, you can be confident you're laying the foundation for a beautiful home.

How to Maintain Cypress Pine Flooring in the Gold Coast Climate?
Cypress pine flooring is a timeless and durable choice for Australian homes, particularly in regions like the Gold Coast where the coastal climate can present unique challenges. Known for its warm hues, natural insect resistance, and rustic charm, Cypress Pine Gold Coast flooring continues to be a popular option for homeowners seeking both aesthetic and practical appeal. However, to ensure its longevity and maintain its pristine appearance, it is essential to follow tailored maintenance practices suited to the local environment.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Gold Coast Climate and Its Impact on Cypress Pine
The Gold Coast features a humid subtropical climate characterised by hot, wet summers and mild, dry winters. This fluctuation in temperature and humidity can affect timber flooring, leading to expansion, contraction, or moisture-related issues if not properly maintained.
Cypress Pine Gold Coast floors are relatively stable compared to other timbers, thanks to the density and natural oils of the wood. Nonetheless, proactive care is crucial to minimise the effects of humidity, UV exposure, and everyday wear.
Daily and Weekly Maintenance Tips
1. Sweep and Vacuum Regularly
Dust, sand, and grit are common in coastal areas and can act like sandpaper on timber floors. Daily sweeping or using a soft-bristle vacuum head helps prevent surface scratches and maintains the floor’s finish.
2. Use a Damp Mop – Not Wet
When cleaning Cypress Pine Gold Coast flooring, avoid excessive water. A lightly damp microfibre mop with a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner is ideal. Ensure the floor dries quickly to prevent moisture absorption that could lead to warping or cupping.
3. Protect High-Traffic Areas
In entryways and hallways, use rugs or runners to reduce abrasion. Ensure these have non-slip backings that won’t damage the wood. Rotate rugs periodically to avoid uneven fading caused by sunlight.
Seasonal Considerations
1. Manage Humidity Levels
During humid summers, timber may expand slightly. Use dehumidifiers or air conditioning to control indoor moisture. In the drier winter months, a humidifier can prevent the floor from shrinking or developing gaps.
2. Minimise UV Exposure
Gold Coast homes often feature large windows and open-plan layouts, allowing sunlight to pour in. Over time, UV rays can discolour timber. Install blinds or UV-filtering window films, and rearrange furniture occasionally to ensure even ageing of the wood.
Preventative Measures for Long-Term Durability
1. Use Protective Pads and Mats
Attach felt pads to the bottom of furniture legs to prevent scratches when moving items. Place mats at all exterior entrances to trap sand and dirt before they reach the floor.
2. Keep Pets’ Nails Trimmed
Pet claws can damage the soft grain of Cypress Pine Gold Coast flooring. Regular grooming and designated pet play areas help reduce wear.
3. Address Spills Immediately
Cypress pine is naturally resistant to termites and decay but remains susceptible to water damage. Clean up liquid spills promptly with a dry cloth to prevent staining or swelling.
Recoating and Refinishing
Over time, even well-maintained floors may lose their original lustre. Recoating involves applying a new layer of finish to restore shine and protect the timber.
Recoating Frequency: Depending on usage, recoat every 5–7 years.
Sanding and Refinishing: If the floor is deeply scratched or discoloured, professional sanding and refinishing may be necessary. This process can rejuvenate the appearance and extend the floor’s lifespan.
Always choose finishes designed for Australian conditions to ensure maximum protection.
Signs Your Cypress Pine Floor Needs Attention
Dull or worn appearance despite cleaning
Persistent squeaking or creaking
Gaps between boards widening or appearing suddenly
Noticeable water stains or surface damage
Addressing these issues early can prevent more costly repairs in the future and preserve the beauty of Cypress Pine Gold Coast flooring.
Conclusion
Maintaining Cypress Pine Gold Coast flooring in a coastal climate like the Gold Coast requires a combination of regular upkeep, climate control, and preventative care. With the right approach, this stunning timber can remain a central feature of the home for decades, showcasing its natural charm and resilience against the elements. Whether it’s managing humidity or choosing the right cleaning products, consistent care ensures that the flooring not only endures but thrives in its environment.
For homeowners in the Gold Coast, investing in the preservation of cypress pine floors is a decision that enhances both the beauty and value of their property.

How to Choose the Best Pest Control Service in Nairobi
Pest infestations can quickly turn your Nairobi home or business into an uncomfortable space. With the city's warm climate creating ideal conditions for pests year-round, finding a reliable pest control service is essential. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you select the best pest control provider in Nairobi.
Understand Your Pest Problem
Before contacting any service provider, identify the specific pests you're dealing with. Common pests in Nairobi include:
Mosquitoes and flies
Cockroaches
Termites
Rodents
Bedbugs
Ants
Different companies specialize in different pest treatments, so knowing your specific problem helps narrow down your options.
Check for Proper Licensing and Certification
Always verify that the pest control company is properly licensed by Kenya's Pest Control Products Board (PCPB). Licensed companies comply with safety regulations and use approved chemicals. Ask potential providers about:
Their PCPB registration number
Staff qualifications and training
Insurance coverage
Environmental certifications
Evaluate Their Methods and Products
Responsible pest control balances effectiveness with safety. The best services in Nairobi offer:
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches
Eco-friendly solutions when possible
Child and pet-safe treatments
Preventative measures to avoid future infestations
Ask what chemicals they use and if they comply with international safety standards.
Consider Experience and Reputation
Companies with extensive experience in Nairobi understand local pest behaviors and challenges. Research potential providers by:
Reading online reviews
Asking for references from previous clients
Checking their years in business
Inquiring about their experience with your specific pest issue
Compare Price and Value
While cost matters, the cheapest option isn't always best. Request detailed quotes from multiple companies that include:
Initial treatment costs
Follow-up visit policies
Guarantees or warranties
Any recurring fees for maintenance plans
Assess Customer Service
Quality customer service indicates professionalism. Notice how prospective companies handle your inquiry:
Do they respond promptly?
Do they offer free inspections?
Are they willing to answer all your questions?
Do they provide detailed treatment plans?
Consider Long-Term Solutions
The best pest control services don't just eliminate current infestations—they help prevent future problems. Look for companies that:
Offer preventative maintenance programs
Provide education on preventing reinfestation
Help identify and address entry points and conducive conditions
Offer regular monitoring for early detection
Local vs. International Companies
Both local Nairobi firms and international franchises have advantages:
Local companies often understand Nairobi-specific pest challenges better
International firms might have access to advanced technologies and methods
Choose based on your specific needs and comfort level.
By thoroughly researching and comparing pest control providers in Nairobi, you can find a service that effectively eliminates your pest problem while ensuring the safety of your family, pets, and environment.
