đ€đ€đŽ Having trouble getting to bed tonight, so I'm catching up with the homies @ed_piskor and @jimruggart on @cartoonist.kayfabe. Their shoot interview w/ @erikjonlarsen was super fun, since #SavageDragon was one of my top faves in the #ImageComics universe. So as Eric was gabbing, I was noodling on the #iPadPro in #Procreate. It was nice to turn off my noggin from the stress or whatever is buggin' my subconscious for a bit. Long live the fin-head! (PS- the fin was based off Dragon's fin in the Megaton era. Und noch eine Mini-Konsole. Die Schrumpf-Ausgabe von SEGAs berĂŒhmter Konsole Mega Drive erscheint am 19. September 2019.
(Foto: SEGA)

Ecco the Dolphin
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Space Harrier II
Shining Force
Robotnikâs Mean Bean Machine
ToeJam & Earl
Comix Zone
Sonic The Hedgehog
Altered Beast
Gunstar Heroes

September 2019.

Comix Gab Interview
Cartoonist Dre Grigoropol of "Comix Gab" interviewed me and other zinesters at the Philly Zine Fest! A fun and informative look into the world of zine festivals and comic/zine making.
Chronological Timeline
1:00 Dre and Ken are at the Philly Zine Fest 2014!
2:30 Interview with the writer of the comic book called Comicverse: Bianca Alu-Marr
5:40 Interview with DC Zine Fest organizer Ariana Stone.
10:30 Interview with indie cartoonist Mindy Indy.
18:00 Interview with author Homos in Herstory and organizer of NYC Feminist Zine Fest: Elvis B.
23:00Â First Date At The Arcade song by the Comix Gabâs house band The Yucky Nerds.
See more about Dre's post on the Comix Gab site.
This is what happened on my first adventure to Burlington Coat Factory. One of my room mates really likes it, so I was curious, and looks like you can find some good deals if you hunt... but it's a little below the bar of TJ Maxx and Marshall's - everything strewn about. You'd think they'd have more glove selection, because it's fall/winter and gloves go with coats (more so than hats or scarves in my opinion) but their glove selection was pretty small, and there were many single gloves with no partner. Said the associate: "People steal stuff." Who would steal just one glove?? Luckily I did find a pretty good pair for $10.

Hot Dog Taste Test: Book Review!
Book Review By Patrick Fortenbaugh
Lisa Hanawaltâs Hot Dog Taste Test is not only my graphic novel of this past year, but itâs also one of the funniest comics I have ever read! (So, itâs okay to review it almost a year after it came out!)
âFood Cultureâ really rubs me the wrong way and the term âfoodieâ kinda makes me cringe. I was relieved that this comic was not that. Hot Dog Taste Test does neither glorify food or even make it appetizing. Lisa Hanawalt analyzes the food in such a detailed, absurd and disturbing way that the simple mundane act of eating just seems gross to me now. I guess that the idea for this collection was to vaguely feature comics that relate to food, experiences at different restaurants, or in a way that only Lisa Hanawalt make work, ways she deals with pooping the food she ate. The concept of food stories is so loose to the point of almost being non-existent. Some of the best comics in this collection donât even feature food, but quirky concepts like animals she finds cute up to the point of making her horny, or as she calls it âchornyâ. Also, things that make her feel super old, death, her menstrual cycle, or more jokes about going to the bathroom (this comic has lots of literal toilet humor).
Unlike Lisa Hanawaltâs other graphic novel, My Dirty Dumb Eyes, Hot Dog Taste Test seems to be in itâs own weird, surreal and colorful world. This time around, all the pop culture references and movie reviews are gone and there is not a single celebrity drawing in sight. Even though she goes to familiar places like Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas everything seems so otherworldly, like a world that just revolves around food, non sequiturs, gluttony, genitals or just gross things in general. Her artwork is loose and somewhat deliberately amateurish in the best way possible. There are so many under-baked drawings (a food pun) mixed in with beautiful vibrant painted splash pages. Lisa Hanawalt is a very good artist, she takes a lot of risks that many artists do not. She experiments with multi-media a lot in ways that it reminds me more of a zine then what one would see in most graphic novels. She kinda reminds me of a weirder maybe more sophomoric Lynda Barry. I may be overanalyzing but to me it says, âI AM a good artist and writer but I donât HAVE Â to be all the time.â The inconsistencies give the comic such a fun and carefree feel. The âsloppyâ imperfections with the text and stream of conscious writing actually really work in the comics favor, even though on the surface the writing seems so random, the jokes just work in a way that the randomness seems deliberate and well placed. Â
There are so many jokes in this book, they are everywhere, there are jokes on the copy-write page even! I love her lists with words just randomly crossed out or anecdotes put in random places. Her summary of the book on the last page is one of my favorite pages in the whole thing. Â The whole comic is so funny, endearing and unpretentious that its basically impossible not to like. I would recommend it to anyone!
