Maybe I'm looking too much into it but the way Machete is so tightly curled, as if trying to protect himself from the world compared to relaxed, stretched out Vasco
It shows their personality so well
.
#thank you for noticing!#I try to consider real dog body language whenever I'm drawing them in their quadrupedal feral forms#when a dog sleeps tightly curled it can mean they're cold or don't feel 100% safe in their environment#and are protecting the more vulnerable parts of their body#in that recent piece Vasco is more stretched out but he's still not fully relaxed#he's lying with his paws under him so that he can jump up at a moment's notice if he has to#if he was asleep he probably would've rolled on his side and splayed out his legs a bit more#or done a proper sploot even#you can see this in their anthro forms as well#Machete's body language is typically closed defensive and tense#whereas Vasco tends to look more comfortable in his skin and takes up space freely#answered#anonymous#I've yet to draw Machete doing the classic sighthound roaching pose where they sleep on their back with legs pointing up#probably not a common occurrence but it has to happen at least once in a while

#reblog for a bigger sample size#poll#polls#airplane#personally I prefer aisle seats. most 'normal' seats (not on the emergency exits) are so close to each other I can barely fit my legs#I like sitting with crossed legs so some more space would be nice but the 'goid' seats are expensive#and it really depends on the specific airplane. sometimes I fit just fine. other times I can barely sit normally (both legs down) without#my knees bumping to the seat in front of me#and usually the flights are around 3 hours if not more. being a bit comfortable is kinda nice#not art#this poll is completely random sorry

jenndoesnotcare replied to this post:
Every time LDS kids come to my neighborhood I am so so nice to them. I hope they remember the blue haired lady who was kind, when people try to convince them the outside world is bad and scary. (Also they are always so young! I want to feed them cookies and give them Diana Wynne Jones books or something)
Thank you! Honestly, this sort of kindness can go a really long way, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time.
LDS children and missionaries (and the majority of the latter are barely of age) are often the people who interact the most with non-Mormons on a daily basis, and thus are kind of the "face" of the Church to non-Mormons a lot of the time. As a result, they're frequently the ones who actually experience the brunt of antagonism towards the Church, which only reinforces the distrust they've already been taught to feel towards the rest of the world.
It's not that the Church doesn't deserve this antagonism, but a lot of people seem to take this enormous pride in showing up Mormon teenagers who have spent most of their lives under intense social pressure, instruction, expectation, and close observation from both their peers and from older authorities in the Church (it largely operates on seniority, so young unmarried people in particular tend to have very little power within its hierarchies). Being "owned" for clout by non-Mormons doesn't prove anything to most of them except that their leaders and parents are right and they can't trust people outside the Church.
The fact that the Church usually does provide a tightly-knit community, a distinct and familiar culture, and a well-developed infrastructure for supporting its members' needs as long as they do [xyz] means that there can be very concrete benefits to staying in the Church, staying closeted, whatever. So if, additionally, a Mormon kid has every reason to think that nobody outside the Church is going to extend compassion or kindness towards them, that the rest of the world really is as hostile and dangerous as they've been told, the stakes for leaving are all the higher, despite the costs of staying.
So people from "outside" who disrupt this narrative of a hostile, threatening world that cannot conceivably understand their experiences or perspectives can be really important. It's important for them to know that there are communities and reliable support systems outside the Church, that leaving the Church does not have to mean being a pariah in every context, that there are concrete resources outside the Church, that compassion and decency in ordinary day-to-day life is not the province of any particular religion or sect and can be found anywhere. This kind of information can be really important evidence for people to have when they are deciding how much they're willing to risk losing.
So yeah, all of this is to say that you're doing a good thing that may well provide a lifeline for very vulnerable people, even if you don't personally see results at the time.
#jenndoesnotcare#respuestas#long post#cw religion#cw mormonism#i've been thinking about how my mother was the compassionate service leader in the church when i was a kid#which in our area was the person assigned to manage collective efforts to assist other members in a crisis#this could mean that someone got really sick or broke their leg or something and needs meals prepared for them for awhile#or it could mean that someone lost their job and they're going to need help#it might mean that someone needs to move and they need more people to move boxes or a piano or something#she was the person who made sure there was a social net for every member in our area no matter what happened or what was needed#there's an obvious way this is good but it also makes it scarier to leave and lose access#especially if there's no clear replacement and everyone is hostile#i was lucky in a lot of ways - my mother was unorthodox and my bio dad and his family were catholic so i always had ties beyond the church#my best friend was (and is) a jewish atheist so i had continual evidence that virtue was not predicated on adherence to dogma#and even so it was hard to withdraw from all participation in church life and doubly so because the obvious alternative spaces#-the lgbt+ ones- seemed obsessed with gatekeeping and viciously hostile towards anyone who didn't fit comfortable narratives#so i didn't feel i could rely on the community at large in any structural sense or that i had any serious alternative to the church#apart from fandom really and only carefully curated spaces back then#and like - random fandom friends who might not live in my country but were obviously not mormon and yet kind and helpful#did more to help me withdraw altogether than gold star lesbians ever did

Oh god what now?
I watched this HORRIBLE video (all the tws, plus it's the daily mail sorry I didn't even realize that was the op until just now so actually fuck it I'm not linking; it's details of the time leading up to Liam's death and a person being gross and insensitive about it, will describe below, skip the rest if you don't want to be as upset as I now am)... ...showing an American who was also a guest at the hotel saying that Liam was in the lobby of the hotel multiple times in the time leading up to his death causing a scene and they just kept escorting him back up to his room. They show pictures the guest took of him while all this was happening, including one from something that happened according to this man just before he died, which is that he was in the lobby looking at his laptop and passed out and was convulsing (he took a fucking picture of him passed out) and they woke him up and took him upstairs and put him in the room alone again; that's when they called the police but 5 minutes later he was dead.
#I am also hit hard by zayn's cancellation#obviously its for the best and I want very much for him to take care and for this to go so well for him and feel safe and comfortable#but I was going to see him wed#I was really excited#it was something to look forward to in a dark time#plus I was thinking about Liam and about being in that space with a couple thousand other people mostly also feeling sad#again I AM GLAD FOR ZAYN and it's clearly the right call#but I can't help feeling pretty fucking sad about it#and like... well I felt sure the first show of tour would happen at least plus it was the FIRST SHOW#a whole leg more than a month after the first? we'll see I guess#ugh sorry this is all so trivial in face of everything but yk. it's all just a lot piled up#cw Liam details

Just thinking about those soft, mundane moments with Bakugou.
#you know the ones that would probably make the most boring fics? but somehow they’re so comforting#like you forget your phone in your rush to work and he drops it in to you before he starts his shift#or you forget your headphones and he brings them to you on your lunchbreak so you don’t have to sit on the train home in silence#or him turning the heating on before he leaves for his night shift so you come home to a warm house#a warm mug of tea waiting at home for you after a night out#you mention you need more space for your makeup so he goes out and buys you shelves/a cabinet#soft cuddles after a bad day while he reads a book#legs intertwined on the couch while you watch tv/play games#sitting in silence while you play the same two player switch game together#bringing you your handbag/shoes when you’re trying to get ready for an important event/gala#silly mirror selfies when you’re trying to do chores#grocery shopping together when he’s stopped by little kids every two seconds#grabbing coffee before a date in the park where he just knows your order without asking or speaking a word#<<< ORDERING FOR YOU#fixing your necklace/bracelet when it breaks#or replacing your favourite shirt when it’s broken beyond repair#just little domestic couple things🥺

im going to lay here and think about pond family cuddle piles until i fall asleep
#and i shall paint u a picture before i go. ahem.#one must imagine of course that rory is the natural foundation of the cuddle pile#he is not very squishy or padded well for laying on but he can sit still for long periods of time. which is not a skill 2/3 of the others#have and to be honest river only Arguably has it when she knows she’s getting something out of it at the end#so rory is the foundation whom all others lay on top of#and once he’s down amy is too and she is going to sprawl all over on top of him if the doctor doesn’t claim some space quickly. she will#take all of the rory for herself. she is greedy and also wants to be comfy.#amy pond face squished into her husband in a way that should make it impossible to breathe and with her arms and legs all tangled around him#in ways that should not be comfortable and yet. rory is used to this. he likes it.#i think eleven cuddles like dogs do when they get on the couch with you and your lap isn’t free so they sort of lay next to you and push the#their back up against your side as hard as they can and stretch out and sigh. and eventually wiggle their head into your lap anyway.#thats how eleven snuggles. belly up and paws out. if he can wriggle under amy’s arm where she’s got it hooked around rory? even better#and then river. and river’s the hardest to get into the cuddle pile for many Many reasons but. i think there’s a foolproof way the three of#them have found how to do it. and it involves first the doctor flopping on top of amy and rory and looking so so cute and cuddly and making#happy relaxed noises to tempt river over. and then involves rory scooching beneath the two of them to make it ibvious that there’s room for#river if she wants it. and then when she does get lured down with them. its amy who finds her and squirms over closer to hold her. eyes shut#pretending she’s asleep and doesn’t know she’s doing it.#river’s never at ease at first but she has to let herself. the doctor moves to lay more of his weight on her as well as rory and ground her.#team (family) effort to get river to let her guard down completely and relax.#in the most normal family way ever aksjfkfjskd which is why amy is clinging onto her like River’ll disappear if she lets go#nornal family. normal cuddling. i think they all pet the doctor like a puppy while theyre doing this

oh god I think I just became the designated bug wrangler of my workplace AGAIN
#🎃 Cryptid sighting#Not really a complaint per se- just that it tends to be a demanding honor and this job is demanding enough already#Found another pretty (& big) house centipede in a common space and was not subtle enough about my catch apparently#They’re so stripy! But they move fast & have more long legs than most people are comfortable with. I don’t want them getting squished :(#Insect#bug#centipede

people like to point out the times they imply the same room like ‘Phil was in the bedroom’ but what about the times in 2018 where it’s pretty much said they had separate rooms. A liveshow 9/27 Phil talks to Dan about looking for a text “I sent you from MY room” about food he had. And there were other implications around that time such as when Phil sent Dan a text about the tiny window in his hotel room.
Do you think it’s one of them where sometimes they shared on the tour sometimes they didn’t? Maybe it was for security reasons so no one on staff who could be a fan knows they share and it gets leaked, maybe it’s just for some space or maybe someone else did the booking and booked as 2 rooms and they just took advantage. Maybe one likes to stay up late gaming so they had separate ones so as to not disturb the other ect ect
we had this discourse in 2018! i'm not going to do it again 💛 you can look back through people's archives around the dates when specific things happened if you'd like to dig into that though!
#jam replies#anon#the tiny window and a lot of their texts/examples of separate rooms are from earlier legs of tour.#their tour mgmt wouldn't've known they were together so would've booked them separate rooms. i think a popular take#at the time was that they would've been able to choose the nicer btween the two rooms and just stay there#but i think they have their own separate spaces at home too even id they primarily share a room so like. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#them continuing to be closeted is less interesting than thr ways they increasingly were confo#*comfortable with letting that go even though they knew we would notice#for me personally!

You've encouraged me to be much more expressive with the body launguage and general poses of my oc's. I love to draw them but was never fully satisfied; like something wasn't quite right with them. Turned out I needed to stop treating their bodies like stiff plastic toys and more like, well, actual animal bodies, which are WAY more dynamic than we realize.
I'm so delighted to hear that! I'm a big fan of expressive body language myself, sometimes you can tell so much about a character's personality and their current mood just by looking at how they occupy space and position themselves, often subconsciously.
Mammalian bodies can be surprisingly elastic and bendy, just like you said. (Personally I tend to think shoulders in particular are way more mobile than you'd initially believe, for example when you stretch your arm up it's not just your arm that moves, your clavicles, shoulder blades and all the muscles connected to them shift a little bit too and that can alter the shape of your upper torso significantly).
#answered#anonymous#Vasco and Machete have very contrasting body languages#Vasco is relaxed comfortable and loose#his gestures are big and welcoming he's not afraid of stretching out his limbs#he has a habit of taking up space confidently#Machete's poses are nearly always very closed defensive and reserved#crossed arms and hands touching each other or close to body#I don't know if you've noticed but he always sits with legs crossed at knee#his impeccable posture makes him look more respectable dignified and refined but can also come across rigid tense and visibly ill at ease#of course he's a lot less strained when he's alone or with Vasco

My kitten has figured out that if he is sitting on my shoulder and/or back I can't reach him with my hands easily
also he is too adorable for me to stay mad at him for him leaving scratches all over my hands and toes (and back because I was giving him prescribed medication and climbing out of my arms and onto my shoulders saved him from the eyedrops)
He has gotten through his first vet visit very well though; his weight is good, he has no fleas, he has some mild cat sniffles (or whatever they are called in english), he charmed everyone by being a sweet, calm kitten for the most part
He only yelled when no one was paying attention to him at the vet, and a bit during the very short car ride, though granted only during me searching for a damn parking space - he was very content chewing on my finger during my stops at traffic lights and was very fascinated whenever he was travelling to and from the car
... and when the vet inserted a microscope into his second ear, the first was no problem tho
he has been amazing about using the litter box, beyond 2 times in the 10 days we have had him, though I will forgive him for both for now, particularly since he only peed on a blanket yesterday after I forced him through washing out his eyes when we got home from the vet
(the other was some runny shit during his first couple of days after he slept most of the night on my lap upstairs while his litter box was downstairs, and he did his business on the dirty bathroom mat upstairs next to my rooms; honestly gave me a really good reason to finally throw it in the wash again)
#shut up ip#I made it a point to only pay for his stuff myself and not use any of my dad's money#my dad has embraced grandparent-hood via kitten#and even embraced the term opa when I used it with the kitten#my mom would prolly approve a lot more of me using my inheritance for cat stuff than for the tattoos#our vet is really close but not close enough where I can comfortably walk with him sadly#thankfully there were a bunch of parking spaces so I have hope for my visits which will hopefully be far and few beyond the first visits#I want him vaccinated as quickly as I can and neutered when he is old enough#I really need to get him some form of chew toy#because my poor fingers and toes need a break#I don't mind the scratches but he will sometimes hit the right angle to make it really hurt when he bites down#he is very careful with his claws when things are within reach (and he doesn't use his hind claws)#but he will swipe with his front claws when trying to catch something#thank fuck I have a large tub of bepanthen which I have been smothering my hands and legs and feet in#honestly everything his claws got caught in

you always had a bad habit of falling asleep—not just anywhere though, but on sukuna ryōmen’s notorious throne. .
he hated it.
he hated how how you hogged up his space.
he hated how your near-quiet snores would echo through his poorly aged walls.
most importantly though, he hated how frustratingly cute you looked . . all scrunched up, curled up in a ball, and occasionally shivering a bit from the cool air that settled against your bare skin.
“tch..” he’d sigh, feeling his muscles ache with each step he took toward you. as usual, sukuna had just returned from some battle and here you were, always waiting for him to return. he’s probably told you over about a hundred times that you could have slept in his private chambers but no—you always preferred his throne. always.
you never told him, but part of the reason why you loved sleeping on it was because of his strong scent that always lingered on the piece of ancient furniture. a musky scent that you’d grow to always miss whenever he wasn’t with you.
“oi. you awake?” sukuna grumbles, and you shift a bit once he lifts you. you could hear him murmuring vexed curses under his breath as he positioned you to lean up a certain way. crimson-velvet eyes bore into your sleeping state and sukuna held back a snickering smile. “pft. ‘course not,” and you felt him starting to trod away with you snugly cradled in his broad arms. as sukuna made his way upstairs, he softly strokes a thumb underneath your nape. “brat. sleep in my bed next time. you’re gonna get back aches at this rate.”
despite his cold-hearted, rough exterior he was always gentle with you. only you. just you.
sukuna carried you in his arms like every other night—sometimes, he wonders if you do this on purpose. purposely falling asleep on his throne just so he could pick you up bridal style, bringing you back to his bed.
each step he took shook your entire body, and you let off a groan in your sleep from the abrupt bumps. “i know. i know little one. just a few more steps.” he rolls his eyes, secretly finding your slumbering state adorable. never in a million years would he ever admit it though.
as the wooden stairs creak—he continues to walk, occasionally looking down at you. right as he’s at the final groaning step, sukuna tenses a bit, feeling your head brush up against his soft exposed pecs.
his fleecy kimono was half open and you’re just buried in his arms, snuggling all against him like a needy cat.
the audacity. .
his pink slit brow furrows as he scoffs at the sight, bringing you inside his quiet spacious bedroom. gently, he starts to lie you down on the mattress but that’s when your arms wrap around him.
“eh? what are you-” sukuna grunts, and that’s when he collapses right against your chest. sukuna deadpans once your warm legs and arms sneakily snake around him—clinging onto him tight like a koala. “keh.. such a handsy pest, even when you’re dead asleep.” he clicks his tongue, letting you drag him further into the bed with you.
sukuna feels a strange feeling pooling near the very bottom depths of his heart.
it’s eerily strange . .
it doesn’t feel like the usual resentment, hatred, or even arrogance he feels toward others ‘below him’.
he finds himself melting into your tender touch, his chin gradually burying itself in your shoulder.
the soreness in his muscles started to subside as he was just on top of you—inhaling your sweet scent, stubbornly grumbling swears in your neck.
sukuna was feeling . . . soft.
he was so closely pressed up against you that he could feel the steady racing beats of your heart. each slow-paced ba-dump! that pumped out of your chest quickened by the second.
was . . he the one making your heart race?
sukuna heard how your shallow breaths significantly slowed, and your arms started to tighten more around his thick neck. he didn’t think he’d ever feel like this. whatever… emotion this was.
sure, he’s had to carry you up to his chambers so you’d sleep more comfortably lots of times but this- this moment felt more a bit different.
“i . . can’t sleep like this, y’know,” the demon breaks the silence, huffing at the awkward predicament he was in. sukuna was currently lying on top of you, hovering over you just so he wouldn’t crush your cute human body. with each longing second passing, he could already feel his limbs starting to ache from just idly hanging over you. “at least let me rest near the side.”
no reply.
sukuna scoffs again, realizing he’s practically talking to himself. but instead of responding with actual words—you cling onto him even tighter, your non-verbal way of saying ‘stay.’
“you’re even more annoying when you’re asleep,” he sighs, pinching his forehead. “fine.. i’ll- i’ll stay like this. here, with you. ‘s not like i plan to go anywher—” sukuna gets cut off once he sees you shifting a bit in your sleep again.
the silence was undeniably loud. with his lips mutely parting, he watches as you get more comfortable, letting off a few heavy exhales.
sukuna starts to ponder to himself. you looked so peaceful . . sound asleep.
he wondered what you were dreaming about. he was so busy staring at you while you slept that he didn’t even notice that he was starting to get drowsy himself. sukuna’s eyelids started to droop and he grunted, letting off an obnoxious yawn.
with watery eyes, sukuna stretches his arms before sinking his face back into your left shoulder. your warmth made him quietly purr into your neck. it was faint, but you heard it.
sukuna even mimicked some of your movements from earlier, softly rubbing his forehead against you as you held him close. “huh. this isn’t . . that bad,” he gruffly utters, his gravely voice pitching.
your chin rests on the top of his head, and sukuna gives you one last glance.
“i. . i love you.” he quietly whispers, thinking that just because you were asleep you couldn’t hear.
but- you did, you heard it all. every word.
little did sukuna know, you were actually wide awake the entire time. you woke up when he was carrying you up the stairs, but you just pretended to be asleep from that point up until now.
a small genuine smile curves on both sides of your crooked lips as your eyelids remain closed. in a sweet groggy voice, you instantly replied, “love you too ‘kuna. it’s about time you finally said it.”
sukuna’s eyes widen as his head quickly rises from against your chest. you’re looking down at him with very much open eyes now and the world’s smugest grin.
his cheeks—they’re burning, flushing with a rosy flamed color and you don’t think you’ve ever seen sukuna ryomen more embarrassed.
“you . . you didn’t . . hear that.”
“i definitely heard it.”
“ugh. i hate you.”
“i love youuu.”
“i… love you too, stupid cheeky human. now go back to sleep. hmph.”
