About Abbey Road by The Beatles

I was gonna write a review on this Manga I was reading, but I didn’t finish it because I decided that I didn’t like it halfway through. At least I didn’t tease a review before I quit on it. 

I wanna preface this by saying that anything and everything I can say here has been said before, because this is one of the most famous albums of all time. I just wanted to get my personal opinion on it out there. I like sharing my thoughts.

Abbey Road is a great album. It’s 47 minutes long, and has 17 songs, including Her Majesty, which wasn’t on my vinyl for some reason. The album was released on September 26, 1969. This was The Beatles’ last recorded album before they broke up. The longest song on the album is “I want You” at 7 minutes and 47 seconds. The shortest is “Her Majesty” at just 25 seconds. What a broad spectrum! 

There are a lot of Beatles albums, but if they’re all this good I will definitely give them all a shot. Like I ranted about a couple days ago, I despise people who don’t give good music a listen. It really is surprising that it took me this long to listen to it. I should have a lot sooner, I was missing out. 

I think that every good rock band needs a piano. The Beatles used the piano, Queen used the piano, Elton John used the piano, I could go on. The piano is a wonderful instrument. I’ve never taken lessons, nor do I wish to, but I respect those who have, because you can play some kick ass classic rock songs. 

The songs that I didn’t put on my playlist (because I did add most of them) were: I want you, You never give me your money, sun king, she came in through the window, and her majesty. I Want You is the only song I have a problem with though. 7.5 minutes is excessive. 

Can we talk about John Lennon’s style for a second? If you don’t know what he looks like, look up a picture of him. Specifically John Lennon with long hair. He’s so pretty! I’m not as keen on his bowl cut, but I like how they matched. His hippie vibe is… a vibe. 

A lot of people say that The Beatles are boring and sound like most other bands. Those people are stupid. They only sound “basic” to you because they pioneered so much stuff that’s EVERYWHERE in today’s music. Just had to clear that up. 

In case you can’t be bothered to listen to this masterpiece of musical pioneering, you should listen to the songs I’ve listed below. They’re the top 5 blend of my favorites and songs that you need to hear before you leave this earth. They are in no particular order. 

1- Here comes the sun: It’s their most popular song. It has 1.5 BILLION streams just on Spotify. I think everyone has heard this song, but for those who haven't, (If any) listen to it. If you’re walking on the street and word gets out that you haven’t heard this song you’re gonna get jumped.

2- Golden Slumbers: It’s beautiful. No words can do it justice. I only wish it was longer. 

3- Octopus’ Garden: I didn’t look up who’s singing- actually, I should. It was Ringo Starr. God, I love his voice. This and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer are probably the most unique sounding songs on this album. They both get really creative with things they add to the song as far as immersion goes. 

4- Maxwell’s Silver Hammer: This is my personal favorite song on the album. It’s the one that made me want to listen to the whole thing. I heard it on a playlist that I found on Spotify and I said to myself, “Are all the songs on the album this good” and in my opinion… kind of? Maxwell’s Silver Hammer is good in its own special way. 

5- Come Together: This is a good opening track. It’s not the best song on the album, which is good for a first track. If the first song you hear is the best, the rest of the album won’t be as good in comparison. On the other hand, it needs to leave a good first impression. Come Together excels at both. It makes you say “Damn… this shit’s gonna be hype as hell!” and be excited for the rest of the album. It holds up really well on it’s own, too. 

In conclusion, listen to this classic pioneering masterpiece if you somehow haven’t. It’s something everyone should do before they leave earth.
