final month recap
wow, everyone. weâre here. weâve made it. weâre reached the end of our bingo time, and iâm absolutely floored by the sheer creative output that iâve seen over these last four months. everyone, take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back!!! no matter if you made 1 piece or 10, thereâs now a work of art out there in the world that wasnât there before. and truly, thatâs super heccing rad no matter how you look at it.
so letâs celebrate! for this recap, we have a total of 20 new pieces, bringing the total amount of ninbingo pieces up to 50. in the span of four months, this little event has created 50 individual works (five of them in the last day!) holy cow yaâll.
iâm putting out this recap now, but donât worry, itâs not the end yet! any submissions made to the end of the 30th still count and this post will be updated accordingly :D
fic:
all the things iâve never done by @sa-you-na-ra. tumblr || prompts: competition and teasing
Itâs always a funny thing when the ninja realize new things about each other. Even though living with each other meant they had to see each other all day, there were still small habits or actions that amused the others.
(mod comments: all these little interactions made me smile so much :D looking forward to the rest!)
error 404: answer not found by @m-aster-of-spinjitzu. tumblr || prompt: memories
Akita and Zane talk after the battle in âAwakeningsâ. The conversation⌠doesnât go as either of them expect.
(mod comments: the nuances in this fic are fantastic! also Akita is always a win :D)
Five times kai was a good brother by @/master-of-fluff. tumblr || ao3 || prompts: nightmare and brother
I'm writing kai centric stuff again.
(mod comments: kai IS the big bro of the team!!! i support him all the way!!)
How Garmadon became a chauffeur by @master-of-fluff. tumblr || ao3 || prompt: driving
"um...Kai? Don't you think we should go Slower?" Garmadon asked nervously trying not to panick as they raced down the road at what had to be over the speed limit.
(mod comments: who let Kai drive? no but honestly this is canon alskdfj)
little things by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: hugs and crying.
"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things." -Kurt Vonnegut
Lloydâs tired of being left behind. How is he meant to be the green ninja when he always has to work harder, train better, and wait longer to go on missions with his team? He wants nothing more than to be their equal.
At least, thatâs what he thought he wanted.
(mod comments: a post-ep-18 resolution scene? SIGN ME UP!)
Neither Snow Nor Rain by @fangirltakesall. tumblr || ffn.net || prompt: post-fight
After their return from the Never Realm and all its troubles, Zane is quiet and Nya is incredibly worried. A call to action to a peculiar sort of battle might be enough to change both of those things.
(mod comments: the concept of these two on their own mission together is just so good! excited to see how their dynamic plays out!!)
Never Put Off Until Tomorrow by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: video games and chores
âŚwhat can be done today, yada, yada, yada, we all know the saying. So do the ninja- when Master Wu is drilling it into their heads every minute of every day, itâs kind of hard to forget.
Naturally, it only takes them a week (and the biggest new video game in Ninjago) to do so.
(mod comments: this is so in character that itâs frustrating lol. also Pixal ftw!!)
oh take me back to the start by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: comfort and 3 am
The past should be left in the past. Or, at least, thatâs what Jay keeps telling himself. Nadakhan is gone. Itâs not logical to still be afraid. But he is, and now everything that he left behind suddenly feels like itâs never going to be the same again.
Cole isnât so convinced.
(mod comments: Cole is truly the man we all deserve in our lives.)
On Our Own by @redefine-your-identity. tumblr || prompt: home
Itâs been a few weeks since Kai and Nyaâs parents disappeared without a trace. Needless to say, theyâre struggling.
(mod comments: OU C H no poor babies đ the relationship dynamic here is great!)
orange and gold by @/m-aster-of-spinjitzu. tumblr || prompt: cooking
...I just need more Cole and Vania content, they seem like they'd be great friends.
Basically it's just 'Cole goes to visit her there, they almost burn down the kitchen, and make way too many puns', lol.
(mod comments: I also always need more Vania content!! the puns in this were breadful!)
permafrost by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: loss of control and promise
Itâs not like this is the first time this has happened. Itâs not like none of his teammates have ever suffered this kind of guilt and pain. Itâs not like Zane himself hasnât walked through hell before and come out the other side (mostly) in once piece.
Except, this time, it is. It shouldnât be different, but it is.
(mod comments: super sweet moment between two ninja who deserve more interaction like seriously!!)
Precautionary Tale by @/fangirltakesall. tumblr || ffn.net || prompt: protective
Fighting is different now, and Zane doesn't know why. Yes, he is titanium now, but why should that change anything? It seems to be changing everything, although is all really as it seems?
(mod comments: a great start to a zane-centric fic! interested to see where it goes next :D)
Star-Ninja! by @rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: siblings and competitionÂ
What happens when the loveable gremlin the ninja adopted off of the streets introduces them to Starfarer comics?
Chaos ensues, of course.
stuck with you (through bright and blue) by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompt: protective
Kai only wants two things: to protect Lloyd, and to give him the best birthday ever. Unfortunately, Lloyd seems hell-bent on making that as difficult as possible. Kaiâs always prided himself on achieving the impossible, but dealing with human emotions is much more complicated than beating up Garmadonâs generals or shooting enemies with fire, as he quickly learns. Movie!verse
(mod comments: happy birthday lloyd!! look at him getting the love he deserves uwu)
Take a walk in the rain. by @/master-of-fluff. tumblr || ao3 || prompt: rain
Cole had always loved the rain, the way it smelled, the way it felt on his skin, and especially the mud! Whenever it rained his Mother would put on his rain coat and boots And they'd both go out and splash around in the puddles and make mud cakes and do all sorts of things.
(mod comments: this fic made me smile a lot :D loved the way it was arranged!)Â
the hues of an empty sky by @/m-aster-of-spinjitzu. tumblr || prompt: crying
Missing memories, or having two of them for one moment - not quite the same, but if thereâs one thing Jayâs leant over the last few weeks, itâs that literally nothing makes sense anymore.
Or, some Skybound aftermath, Zane actually expressing emotions about his memory switch being turned off for all those years, and what was supposed to be a âthey tell everyone about the erased timelineâ fic, but it turned into a 'two characters who barely interact on screen talk at like one am in the morning, and donât actually tell the other what exactly theyâre alluding to the whole timeâ fic that I wrote at like one am-
(mod comments: Skybound resolution? SIGN ME THE HECK UP YES)
The Make-Cole-Realize-How-Much-We-Love-Him Competition by @21st-century-ninja. tumblr || ao3 || prompts: bets and competition
Jay and Kai share a horrified look. Â âHe really doesnât get it,â Jay says.
Kai shakes his head. Â âWe need to show him somehow.â
âShow me what?â Cole asks, exasperated again. Â
âHow much we love you!â Kai exclaims. Â âSomehow, itâs not getting through your thick skull that we want to sit next to you because youâre you, so Iâm gonna have to just prove it to you.â
(mod comments: a silly little movie fic!)
twitter was a mistake by @/21st-century-ninja. tumblr || ao3 || prompts: teasing and birthday
Kai đĽ @flaminhotninja â
so who was gonna tell me that Jay used to be a game show host huh
đşâ¨ the Gift of Jay â¨đş @zaptrap â
Replying to @flaminhotninja
NO WHO SHOWED YOU
(mod comments: twitter was a mistake)
two halves of a broken whole by @/rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: scars and post-fight
The Sons of Garmadon have been defeated. Garmadon is in prison. The city has been saved.
In the aftermath of the battle, Nya is more than ready to take a much-needed break. But the life of a ninja is messy. Recovery is never that simple. Although the wounds may have healed, the scars still remain.
Zaneâs scars seem to match up, though. And maybe together, they can begin to heal.
(mod comments: aggressive care is my jam, and this is it!)
wait by @rosiehunterwolf. tumblr || ao3 || ffn.net || prompts: home and memories
Lloydâs not so great at being patient. Itâs not his fault though- maybe he would be better at it if waiting didnât always end up being so disappointing- if people actually kept their promises. But this timeâs going to be different, he knows it. His father will come back for him. And Lloydâs going to wait.
As long as it takes.
(mod comments: baby. baby boy. baby. protecc him plz.)

Lost Ones (Spooky Diaz x Reader)
Warnings: cursing, angst, mentions of pregnancy, abortion, and deadbeat fathers.
âAnd I ain't too proud to tell you
That I cry sometime, I cry sometimes about it
And girl, I know it hurt, but if this world was perfect
Then we could make it work, but I doubt itâ - J. Cole
****************
Oscar âSpookyâ Diaz sat on the edge of the bathtub, holding the blue and white stick tightly like you didnât just pee on it. For some reason, he thought staring at the digital screen would change from 1 word into 2. Unfortunately, it was still that one word.
Pregnant.
You, his girlfriend, was pregnant. When you had suspicions that you were pregnant, you secretly went to the store to purchase 3 pregnancy tests and once you took them, they all said that same word.
Pregnant.
You and Spooky were expecting a child and this was not good news at all.
âOscar, please say something.â You whispered so softly, staring at him with dried tears on your face.
He remained silent, still staring at the test. His head was swimming with thoughts. Maybe you werenât even pregnant. Maybe itâs a prank and you were lying, but you were not this good of an actress. Besides, you wouldâve busted out laughing by now.
Then the thought came to him that maybe it wasnât his but that thought got shot down quickly in his head. You loved him with all your heart. You wouldnât do that to him.
Did you purposely get pregnant? What happened to birth control? Then again, if you were to purposely get pregnant, you would be jumping in joy and not sitting on the floor in despair.
You got up from the floor and walked up to him, taking his hands. Your pleading eyes made contact with his.
âPlease talk to me. Say something.â
Spooky finally spoke. âHow did this happen?â
You sighed shaking your head. âWell when a man and a woman love each other very much or like each other or theyâre just drunk enough, they wanna express it in a physical way which happens to produce a baby.â
Spooky had an unimpressed scowl on his face. âThatâs not funny.â
âDo you see me laughing?â You shot back, tilting your head. Your head came back into its original position and you sighed once again.
âWe need to talk about this.â
âWhatâs there to talk about? We canât have a kid. Talk over.â Spooky got off the bathtub, tossing the pregnancy test in the trash. He washed his hands and went into the fridge to get a beer. All you could do was watch him do all this in shock. He chugged down the beer and you stared at him with your arms folded.
âSeriously, Spooky?â
He slammed the fridge close, glaring at you. âSeriously what? You really think itâll be a good idea for us to have a child?â
You shrugged your shoulders. âItâs not like we never talked about it.â
âYeah, we talked about it. FOR THE FUTURE.â Spooky got close in your face, emphasizing the last 3 words. âThe future where weâre older, smarter, making a lot of money and most importantly, married. We are none of that right now.â
âI know that, and I know that this isnât the ideal situation to bring a baby in, but like it or not, itâs here.â Your arms were folded again. You were hoping he would have a better response to this.
âNot for long because youâre getting that abortion, right?â He questioned taking a swig of beer.
You had a look on your face, as if he slapped you hard across the face and spit in it. You could physically feel your heart break. The man you love doesnât want you to have his child. You couldnât believe it. He had to be joking. Spooky saw the shocked and hurt expression on your face and sighed. He didnât mean to hurt you. He never means to hurt you but he had to be realistic here. This is a life that was being discussed.Â
âIâm not trying to fight with you, Princesa. Iâve just been actually thinking. How are we going to raise a kid by ourselves? We are only 23!â He gestured all around you. âDoes this seem like a good place to raise a kid? This neighborhood is dangerous. Where are we going to move to? Somewhere safer? Somewhere safer costs more money. Baby, Iâm an ex-con. Only the jobs that barely pay shit hire ex-cons. We canât live off your little receptionist job alone!â
You didnât say anything. You just kept staring
at him with tears in your eyes. He took it as a sign to continue.
âListen, I donât want to bring mi hijo or mi hija in this world if I ainât got shit to give them. Iâm not going to leave but you gotta really think about it. Would it be smart for us to bring a child into this?â
Once your boyfriend finished his speech, you just backed away from him and stared out the window where kids were playing jump rope and riding their bikes outside. Little girls playing patty-cake and hopscotch while little boys played basketball and tag. You couldnât stop the small smile that appeared on your face.
Looking out of the window gave you a bit of hope but Spooky didnât see it. Maybe he didnât want to see it.
âWe have less than 9 months to figure something out.â You croaked out, still staring at the scene outside the window.
You heard a frustrated sigh behind you. âYouâre not getting it.â
You finally turned around with angry tears flowing down your face. âNo! Youâre not getting it! You mustâve forgotten all the conversations we had way back! You remember those fucking conversations, Oscar?!â
He stared at you as the flashback hit him.
âItâs really crazy how Toya got pregnant. Weâre only 21. We just became legal to drink and now she canât.â You sighed as you laid your head on your boyfriendâs lap as he watched TV. He cleared his throat and didnât say anything. He was always a man of a few words. Part of the reason why people feared him so much. Other than his little brother Cesar, you were the only person he would actually hold a full conversation with and talk for hours.
âBaby?â You said as you rose from his lap making eye contact with him. His hooded eyes focused on you. âWhat if we-â
âWeâre not.â Spooky cut you off, already knowing where you were going with this.
âBut what if.....we did?â You questioned softly. âAnd what would we do about it?â
Spooky groaned throwing his head back. âItâs not gonna happen. Weâre smart.â
You folded your arms. âSmart people get pregnant too.â Your boyfriend inhaled deeply and didnât say anything.
âThe only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy is not having sex and weâre obviously not going to do that.â You stated causing your boyfriend to snort in amusement and you elbowed him, rolling your eyes. âSeriously, Oscar. What if I was to get pregnant now? What would we do? What would you do?â
âI would do whatever it takes to make sure you and the baby are good. No matter what. The babyâs created and we gotta take responsibility because God donât make mistakes. So if we tried to prevent it and you still ended up pregnant, we would just have to deal with it and make sure our child is born into a good situation.â
You just blinked because you were relieved that he wasnât dismissing this conversation. He was actually thinking realistically. You saw him clench the bottle of beer he was drinking in anger.
âMy father.....left me and Cesar and I still hate him for it. How am I supposed to be a father to him if I never got the chance to be a son? I always told myself that I would never put my child in that situation. It just starts a fucked up cycle and who knows when that cycle will be broken?â
Oscar shook his head as if he was trying to shake tears that were threatening to fall away. He took another drink of the beer. âI refuse to be him. I refuse to be a coward and turn my back on what I created.â
You smiled planting a soft kiss on his lips. âYouâll never be him.â
âOr did you forget that? Did you forget telling me that you wouldnât turn your back on this? On us?â
âIâm not turning my back! Iâm thinking realistically, Y/N!â Spooky began to shout now. He rarely shouted at you. Thatâs how you knew you were really under his skin.
âOh really? Your exact words were-â
âI know what my exact words were! What youâre not getting is I changed my mind. People change, Y/N.â
You snorted in disbelief, laughing sardonically. âYou sure did.â
âDonât do that,â Spooky warned in a low voice coming closer but you didnât back down.
âNo! Fuck you Oscar! I shouldâve known this is how you would act! You said you love me, now look at you! Singing a different song now that shit got real! I shouldâve known you werenât different from the rest. The rest of those guys who say whatever to get what they want! I LET YOU HIT RAW!â You pushed his chest as hard as you could, with your chest heaving up and down. âI let you fuck me raw, and now, Iâm pregnant and you got the nerve to get in my face, talking about some abortion. This is my body, Oscar! Iâm not aborting this baby! The only person taking this baby from me is God and last time I checked, YOU AINâT GOD!â
âY/N-â
âNo! Shut the fuck up! I let you speak, and now itâs my turn!â You shoved a finger in his face as tears continued to roll down your face. âIâm going to love this baby, with or without you! My mom raised me by herself, and Iâll do the same with this child! I still donât understand how you could be standing in my face, saying that when you said you hated your father and you would never be like your father! That you wouldnât do that shit he pulled, but look at you! Doing the same shit! You ainât shit! You ainât shit to me, and as far as this child is concerned, you ainât gonna be shit to them either.â
You got out of his sight, still holding a hand to your belly, and headed into the bathroom to continue crying your eyes out.
Spooky took a deep breath, trying to figure something out. He figured you didnât mean what you said. You were just really upset. He had to make a decision. Stay here and wait for you to come out so you can probably talk about this or go out for a drive, giving you and him some space to cool down. He chose the latter, grabbing his keys and heading out the door.
On the drive, Spooky watched the scene where kids were playing and having fun. He began reminiscing about the times when Cesar was little and he would play with him outside. He remembered the tiny smile on his innocent face. He remembered how scary it was keeping Cesar safe on his own but he did it. He managed to raise his brother on his own and seeing that Cesar doesnât want to be part of the Santos, heâd like to think he did a pretty good job.
Spooky doesnât know how he did it but he managed to drive right to the park where he and his brother used to play on. There were still kids there. His hazel eyes focused on a little girl being helped by her dad on the monkey bars, giggling uncontrollably. Somehow, the little girl turned a little boy and her dad became....his dad. The little boy was him. He saw his younger self grin as he hung off the monkey bars and his father giving him a small smirk. The grin dropped a little. That memory happened before his father left his life and never came back.
âWhat about your seed, man?â His younger self looked straight at him and asked. Spookyâs eyes narrowed in confusion and he couldâve sworn he was seeing things.
âWhat about your seed?â
The vision returned back to the little girl smiling as she finished the monkey bars with her father grinning in pride. She hugged her fatherâs legs and he lifted her up, kissing her cheek repeatedly as she giggled in happiness. It was a beautiful sound.
He pulled off after he came to the conclusion that you and him had a lot to discuss. Maybe, he was too hasty, telling you to abort the baby. Maybe he was just scared and freaked out that he wanted the easy out but now heâs realizing itâs not necessarily what he wanted. But you were not going to find that out while he was out. He gotta go back home to you.
âY/N?â
This house was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Spooky began to investigate. He went into the bedrooms and the bathroom. No sign of you anywhere. Your clothes were gone and you left no trace of you anywhere. You left him.
He took his phone out of his pocket to call you when a piece of paper on the counter caught his attention. It was handwritten and it only said two words.
You won.
Spooky clenched the note, falling onto the chair and just kept staring at those two words that managed to completely break his heart. What hurt the most is that he wasnât sure what you meant by saying he won. Did you leave him for good, dedicated to being a single mother or did you change your mind, got the abortion, and left him because you hated him? Either way, you were wrong.
He was no winner at all in this situation.

"Black Panther" Review: Why Representation Is Key!
Any thoughtful critic would tell you that there are some films that you just donât know where to start in writing your review. You may need to see the film more than once. You need the time to live with the film in your mind to find the words to describe it eloquently in written form. Black Panther is one of those movies for me. Itâs a cinematic experience that, having seen it twice before penning this, is equally powerful on repeat viewings.
Following TâChalla (Chadwick Boseman) after the events of Captain America: Civil War, the film picks up with him returning to Wakanda as king. So in short, the film is about a young man ascending to the throne and dealing with the weight of that. Yet, writers Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, give us something more. Itâs a movie that analyzes what a person is made of. What really makes a king, a leader, or a person great? Similarly, what makes us bad, evil, the villain?Â
Wakanda is the most technologically advanced nation on Earth. Hidden in plain sight, itâs main resource, vibranium, has allowed the nation to evolve leap years ahead of the rest of society. Yet, there are those who want to get their hands on the precious metal. As an old and new enemy comes on the Wakandan radar, TâChalla fights to make the best decision for his people and the world as a whole.Â
The casting in this film is absolutely perfect. Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue is a man you wouldnât want to even let your kids say hello to. Danai Guriraâs General Okoye is fierce, intelligent, strong, and has a beautiful spirit that pops out at just the right times between upholding her duties to the throne that she takes seriously. Lupita Nyongâo is another stand out as Nakia, TâChallaâs love interest and friend. Nakia is not diminished to just a romantic interest in this film. Sheâs a fighter for justice who would prefer to live outside of Wakanda, making a difference with people who are impoverished, over enjoying the spoils of her royal bloodline. Michael B. Jordanâs Erik Killmonger is the first villain weâve seen that we could get behind, at least understand and earnestly believe his motives. His calm, intellect and patience in execution of the long game is what makes him so dangerous. It creates an equally powerful enemy that TâChalla has to go up against and sets the stage for serious stakes! TâChallaâs sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright), brings the humor in some scene stealing moments. The chemistry between Boseman and Wright is totally believable as a family unit!
That was just the main characters in the film. Youâll certainly enjoy Winston Dukeâs MâBaku as the funny but beast of a leader of the Jabari tribe. Everywhere you look, thereâs black star power in Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown, John Kani and more. Writer/director Ryan Coogler was the right person for the job. His use of the camera is masterful. His angles stress the magnitude of the environment when necessary, and singles in on intimate moments appropriately. Knowing what to put in the frame and equally what not to show is a skill not all directors have. Watching his set ups and reveals after an additional viewing proves that hes one of the great directors working today! (I may have to write a separate analysis review as to avoid spoilers here, but Coogler doesnât play.)
The costume design from Ruth Carter is exquisite! Black Panther is a film in which itâs costume and wardrobe is like wallpaper, done well you wonât notice it but tacky wallpaper sticks out like a sore thumb. The colors, designs for different tribes, and materials are incredible. The production design is a beautiful imagining of an advanced civilization in Africa. Everyone came to WORK on Marvelâs first black superhero film in the MCU.Â
Black Panther represents Marvelâs showcasing of a lesser known character, who after this film will be a global favorite (for those who didnât know the comic character). It also represents the showcasing of a predominately black cast and afro-futuristic story. It represents! In some ways, the importance of this film is the cinematic representation of a black super hero is on par with Barack Obama becoming president. Whoa! Did I say that? I did. Until this film, we havenât had a black super hero who is as intelligent, rich, and powerful as his white counterparts. We havenât seen a King and a hero like this. We havenât seen black women who are equally elegant, poised, and intelligent as they are strong, skilled in combat, independent yet team players. Can movie characters be role models? They may not be the type you can talk to in the flesh, but they certainly are displayed as examples that little black boys and girls can be inspired by.
Who are you? Itâs a question that is asked multiple times throughout the film and in various ways. Knowing yourself and who you are is huge. This film subtly pushes the importance of knowing who you are, where you come from, and charting your path to greatness. Sometimes that takes seeing someone like you do something that you want to do but never thought possible. (Donât read this next portion if you donât want a spoiler, but this example doesnât have any importance to the overall plot of the film.) Those possibilities and the beauty of sparking a young mind is encapsulated in the closing scene of the film when a young inner city kid is exposed to a Wakandan aircraft. As he looks at the aircraft he takes moment and connects the dots between TâChalla being its owner. For anyone who doesnât understand why this film is so important from a cultural level, thatâs why. When a barrier can be broken, or a glass ceiling shattered, that means everything to the person who has been held back. Everyone should have the opportunity to dream and strive to see their dreams realized!
There is no wasted space in this film...except maybe the ubiquitous Stan Lee appearance. The film hits a perfect pace and tone, and has a great balance of suspense, humor and action. Itâs Marvelâs best at bat in my opinion, and how it represents is just icing on that cake. Ok. Youâre finished reading, get to the theater ASAP! Talk to me in the comments section if youâve seen it!
