BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT THE BASILISK IN THE EYES WITHOUT GLASS OR SOMETHING BETWEEN YOU AND IT YOU DIE

And in the chapter Dazai specifically says that he needs to kill Pomfrey AND just after Dazai leaves the great hall he is all like “ gosh darn it well I guess I better get to setting up a murder now”

so is she dead well I thought she was but if he was just gonna kill her why did he ask about the potions? And if was just gonna petrify her and not kill her why was he all like “this is the last time that I’m gonna talk to you” cause he DEFINITELY KNOWS Snape can brew the potion thus un-petrify her so then he would have to also petrify or kill snape (which he kinda has to already cause he knows too much)

But isn’t that just making more work for him??!!

ANYWAY I think he killed her is what I’m getting at or at least he thinks that she’s dead

BUT ALSO I think that a lot of people forget is that although Dazai is kinda different in this fic, he is still a member of the mafia and has still killed people in the past, although he is more fleshed out in this and cares more about people outside himself (even if he doesn’t realise it) then he was in cannon at this age he wouldn’t have had much of a problem with killing Madame Pomphrey

Remember people this is DAZAI he HAS killed people and will continue to do so also the reason in cannon he gives to why he wants die IS THAT HE SEES NO VALUE IN LIFE so why would he value other people’s lives

ahem rant over please tell me your thoughts on the new chapter also if you disagree with anything I said or have a different understanding of anything

"Hell’s Hounds"

“Hell Hounds,” Dazai said. “We’ll be the Hell Hounds."

He wrote it in bold, chalk letters across the top of the blackboard.

Hell Hounds

Then, he paused. "Well, you’re the Hell Hounds. I’m just...”

“Hell,” Ron supplied unhelpfully.

Instead of pulling a face, like Ron probably expected, Dazai beamed. “You’re right! It’s more like ‘Hell’s Hounds’ then, isn’t it? With an apostrophe.”

In the small space between the word Hell and Hounds, Dazai drew in a tiny 's. He had to write it crooked to make it fit.

Hell's Hounds, it read proudly.

“Hell’s Hounds gang...” Hermione tasted the name on her tongue. “It’s a bit dark, though?”

“It has a nice ring to it,” the twins cheered, “Hell’s Hounds!”

Hell’s Hounds... Dazai could agree it had a certain charm to it. A little threatening, a little rebellious. Just the right name for a mafioso’s gang of schoolchildren.

SPOILERS FOR COIL CHAPTER 19

Wow. Just wow. After reading the most recent chapter of Coil by Allegory_for_Hatred, a BSD x HP crossover fic, the tragectory of my life has changed. This may be really niche talking about this fanfic (if you haven’t read it already, go read it!!) I honestly am not being dramatic when I say this might be one the best chapters. The set up, the dynamics, the potential, the twists, all perfectly executed. This may be really niche talking about this fanfic (if you haven’t read it already, go read it!!) but we need to talk about the symbolism! I adored the likening of Dazai to a rabbit and Mori to the snake, this coiling metaphor fitting into the literal title of the fic.

The whole scene at the end was so vivid and powerful, Dazai's white dress being stained red with his own blood represents the idea of turning to a hero into a villan, pure into the impure and white unto black. And Mori waltzing with him was so perfect. The Allegory writes Mori is so unsettling yet perfectly creepy. Calling Dazai "my dear" telling him he looked cuter in red is insanely disturbing. I can just imagine Mori with a borderline possessive grip on Dazai as they danced which is especially unsettling when, in a traditional waltz, the leading partner has a hand on the following partner's waist or just beneath their arm.

Imagine your Dazai in this scene, your waltzing with your abuser next to the corpse of your crazy father who that said abuser killed after your eye was stabbed out yet your being forced to dance in a gore-soaked dress all while slowly falling unconscious due to blood loss. This visceral imagery is so unsettling and powerful that I knew I had to draw it.

I can’t help but ramble about how much I love this series. Never would I have thought I would enjoy the series as much as I did going in. But hear I am drawing fanart for its most angstiest moment. I have to thank the author, this fic has been consuming my every waking thought. I can’t wait for the next chapter. Seeing everyone’s reactions too Dazai’s missing eye is going to be insane....

These two books have actually... wow, I've genuinely never felt this way towards any fic before. I actually sat staring at my notification bar, waiting for gmail to pop up(only to be disappointed because it's just something irrelevant, like my accounts being compromised or smth😒), and when it did today, I actually squeaked. Not kidding, btw, I squeaked and physically reacted. Lock me away. But enough about my obviously worrying mental health!

This fic. This series, M&M. I'm so happy I found this when I did.

so, uh... rest in peace to one of the greatest fanfic series ever.

i mean, i can understand where the author is coming from, gaining such a large following super quickly and then suddenly receiving hundreds of comments pestering for updates.

final chapter was good, some twists i didn't expect and kind of sad that despite it, the fic still doesn't feel finished in my heart. there were some loose ends i were hoping for but, fanfic authors do everything out of their own heart for free so i can't complain.

it's popular enough someone might feel motivated to pick it up and continue it but it'll definitely feel different without allegory writing.

toast to magic and mystery, something that as been pulling me through week after week, sorry to see you end prematurely.

I just finished reading coil, the beautiful bsd x hp fanfic written by Allegory for Hatred. Spoilers beneath this.

Omg that was so good. Yes, I wish I had more content, but it feels like it's following the main idea regardless. I want to create a fanfic for this fanfic of what I think could happen in later years, but I am in no way a good author nor as good as Allegory, so it would probably be very rushed lol. It was a great ending and truly represents Dazai's character. He is capable of laughing and being free at Hogwarts, and is capable of cold murder under the port mafia. The ending truly shows that moral grey point. Still, I do miss that we didn't get any mom poppy or any dad Snape, but I could always make a comic spin off of it. (I'm too lazy to write a fanfic, so if I have any aching ideas to portray, I'll draw a sketchy comic for it. Hope you enjoy those, if I end up making any. But yeah, beautiful fic, we love Allegory, and it was fun while it lasted. :D
