How hard could it be?
Summary - She was regretting even thinking she could get the room painted and put back together before Jay got home. So much for being an independent woman, she thought as she leant with her back against the bathroom door, taking in the mess in front of her.
AO3 Link
Her hair was sticking to her head, splatters of white gloss paint freckled her cheeks, and she was regretting even thinking she could get the room painted and put back together before Jay got home. So much for being an independent woman, she thought as she leant with her back against the bathroom door, taking in the mess in front of her.
Today had been her compulsory day off - a new initiative that had been implemented in the past few months. Having noticed that the Intelligence team very rarely took any of their paid leave, the powers that be had begun prescribing a fixed day off once a month that unless the team were in the middle of an all hands on deck type case, you were unable to ignore it. When Jay had walked out the door this morning, pressing a kiss to her cheek and throwing her a wink, Hailey had decided she would use her day off to do something productive. The en-suite off their bedroom had needed a fresh lick of paint ever since they had moved in but for various reasons had kept being pushed down to the bottom of their to-do list. But no longer.
She had called into the hardware store and picked up the paint for the walls and also some gloss for the woodwork. Next stop was Target for some new towels because they were adults with good paying jobs and they could afford to have a matching set of towels rather than the mismatched set from when they had combined their apartments and moved in together. With her trunk full of all of the tools of the trade and their new towels, she had picked a deep crimson colour, Hailey headed home with a plan to get it all sorted before Jay got home, or at least a good enough head start.
She had decided against painting the ceiling, that seemed like far too much work for very little gain so she started with the walls. She painstakingly taped up all the electric sockets, the light switch and around the skirting boards with blue painters tape before getting to work cutting in with the light grey matte paint that she had loved upon first glance when she picked it up in the store. At least, she had loved the colour on the side of the tin.
She should have stopped almost immediately but she ignored the feeling in her stomach that the colour on the outside of the tin didn’t quite match the inside. It wasn’t until she took a step back, hands on her hips and surveyed her work that she groaned. The paint had been called coastal grey. Emphasis on the grey.
The edges of her walls were distinctly green.
Green.
Neither she or Jay were particularly colourful people, she knew it had even been a step to get towels that weren’t cream or grey when she had bought the crimson ones. She had had a vision though that with the pale grey walls, the deep towels would compliment them perfectly and she knew that Jay had a framed print of the city that was backed with a similar colour red that she had planned to put up above the towel rail to bring it all together.
Now it was green.
Green and red.
It was like Santa Claus had thrown up in their en-suite.
And she’d already painted too much of the walls to stop now.
She rubbed a hand over her forehead as she rattled through her options; she could continue to paint it green and tell Jay it had been the colour she had aimed for because who didn’t want to look at Christmas everyday. Second option was to stop now and go back to the store and pick a new colour. Or she could just do a single coat, leave it as it was today and then on her next day off, sort it out after another trip to the hardware store.
The last option seemed to be her best one. It would mean that she would have to admit her mistake and face the possible laughter that Jay would try to hide, but it also meant she wouldn’t have to get changed out of her paint covered clothes and go back to the store today. She had wanted it to be a one day project but that idea was already out of the metaphorical window.
So, kicking herself for not getting a paint sample first and actually checking the colour on the wall, Hailey gritted her teeth and got the roller out, rolling the clearly un-grey paint onto the walls.
The more she painted, the greener it looked.
When all the walls were covered in the offending colour, she decided it was time for a lunch break, she had ignored the grumblings from her stomach for long enough. Shutting the door onto the bathroom and padding across to the kitchen in her socks, it was only when she had closed the fridge retrieving the ingredients to make a quick sandwich she noticed the paint splotches across the floor.
Squeezing her eyes shut and praying that it wasn’t what she thought was happening, she opened them again as she looked down at her feet.
‘Fuck,’ she muttered, the green paint obviously staining her right sock that had left footprints from the bedroom into the kitchen.
She didn’t know who she had pissed off today but clearly she had done something that warranted this level of punishment. She grabbed off her sock, throwing the paint covered material into the sink where it landed with a dull thud. It had even soaked through and her foot bore evidence of the paint crime. She quickly grabbed a dish cloth and wiped her foot clean, she then got to work scrubbing the marks on the floor and silently thanked herself for noticing them now whilst the paint was still wet and could easily be wiped off.
Not trusting herself to not end up with a arse shaped paint mark on the couch considering her luck today, Hailey scoffed down her sandwich whilst standing over the sink. Not the most relaxing of lunch breaks but it was food for energy not for the delight of having a ham and mustard sandwich on wheat bread, not the most interesting of lunch options on any given day.
Leaving her paint covered sock in the sink, I’ll deal with it later, she thought, she made her way back to the bathroom and got stuck into dealing with the woodwork.
The guy at the hardware store had recommended a solvent based paint because apparently it dried quicker but the smell of it as soon as she opened the tin made her wish she had picked the water based option and just dealt with the fact it took over 24 hours to dry. She quickly pulled out one of the disposable face masks left over from Covid from their bathroom cabinet and tugged it on over her mouth and nose. It didn’t completely block out the smell but it helped enough that her eyes weren’t watering anymore.
It was painstakingly slow work, using a small brush to go over all of the skirting boards, desperately trying not to get it on either the floor or on the freshly painted walls. She may hate the green but if it ended up with messy white edges, it was going to look even worse. It didn’t help that because the bathroom was small, she ended up twisted into awkward pretzel-like positions trying to reach the areas she needed to paint.
And some people said painting was relaxing, Hailey mocked at the thought.
She didn’t know how long she spent sitting, lying or kneeling on the bathroom floor trying to get everything as neat as she could. She had wanted to paint the door as well but that idea was looking less and less appealing as the hours ticked by.
She let her head thud against the door, as she leant back on it, making a mental note to never try and paint a room in one day but herself again. She may be a lot of things, but a decorator was clearly not one of them.
The walls were streaky, the paint very clearly needing at least two coats to provide a thick enough coverage. The colour was even worse now it was dried. That wasn’t really fair, it was a nice colour, a pale green with just a tinge of grey but it was so far removed from what Hailey had been hoping for she struggled not to laugh.
No matter how hard she had tried to keep the woodwork neat, the paint had gotten everywhere. Not only was she covered in it but she had ended up with it on the shower mat, small splotches on the wall - it looked like a child had done it. And truthfully she thought Makayla probably could have done a better job.
She had decided not to take the towel rail off the wall thinking it would be easy to just paint around it, that had proved to be another error of judgement and the chrome towel rail was now dotted with the greeny grey paint.
Hailey was so busy noticing all of the issues with the freshly painted room that she didn’t hear the front door open and close. It was only when a familiar voice called out from the kitchen she realised she had been in the small room all afternoon.
‘Hails, do I want to know why there’s a paint covered sock in the sink?’ Jay said, and Hailey could hear the smirk on his lips even if she couldn’t see it.
‘If I said it wasn’t mine, would you believe me?’ She called back with a groan.
‘Can I come in?’ Jay asked softly from the other side of the door.
‘If you promise not to laugh?’ She shifted so her back was now against the shower screen and he could tug the door open.
‘Why would I laugh?’ He asked curiously, opening the door slowly.
Hailey saw his eyes widen as he took in the room that was no longer a creamish white like it had been when he had left that morning and his wife that was sitting on the floor covered in enough paint to be in an art gallery.
‘Don’t say it,’ she muttered, her eyes closing again. She knew she had made a mess of it, wasted her day off in the process and now she would need to spend even more time fixing it.
‘Say what?’ He asked. ‘I like it.’
‘You like it?’ She asked, opening her eyes if only to frown at him. ‘I’m a big girl Jay, you don’t have to lie to me.’
‘I’m not lying Hails,’ he said, ‘I really like it, I think we need a second coat to really make the colour smooth out but I can help with that at the weekend.’
Hailey sat there in shock. She had really expected him to laugh at the mess she had found herself in, but here he was, saying that he liked it without even a hint of mockery to his tone.
‘This doesn’t really explain the sock,’ he said after a moment, grinning as he reached down a hand to pull her to her feet.
‘I may have stepped paint through the apartment when I went to make lunch,’ she admitted with a small blush, as his hands came to rest on her waist.
‘Ahh,’ Jay nodded. ‘Well, I personally think the one sock thing is a look,’ he grinned as he reached down to press a soft kiss to her lips. ‘And the paint on the face,’ he kissed her again, ‘really sexy.’
Hailey smacked him playfully on the chest but let him pull her closer into him as he covered her paint covered face in kisses, his lips telling her all the places she had managed to get paint.
‘So you don’t hate the green?’ She asked, pulling back to look up at him.
‘Why would I hate the green?’ He asked, genuine curiosity pulling on his cheeks.
‘Because it was meant to be grey,’ she admitted.
‘Oh,’ his mouth formed a small o. ‘Well it’s definitely not grey.’
‘No shit,’ Hailey chuckled. ‘And I got red towels so it’s going to look a bit like Christmas in here.’
‘Good thing I love Christmas then,’ Jay said quickly, smiling from ear to ear.
‘So you don’t want to paint it another colour?’ Hailey asked.
‘Do you?’
‘I guess it’s growing on me,’ she shrugged.
‘And here I was thinking you were trying to match my eyes,’ he chuckled warmly. ‘Well your hair is definitely a shade of green now too,’ Jay’s fingers played with the pieces of her hair that had fallen out of her messy bun.
Hailey groaned, letting her head thud against his chest. ‘Turns out decorating is not my forte.’
‘We can’t all be talented at everything Hails,’ Jay’s arms slide around her back, keeping her close to him.
‘I’m going to get paint on you,’ Hailey murmured into his shirt but made no move to pull herself out of his arms, it was one of her favourite places, the safety of his arms wrapped around her, his heart beating in time with her own.
‘Then we can save water and shower together later to get it all off,’ he dropped a kiss to her head and she felt his chest rubble with a small laugh.
‘That’s the best idea you’ve had since you walked in the door,’ she said, letting her hands reach around his back to slide up under his henley and run across his bare skin.
‘Should we order dinner first?’ He suggested but Hailey shook her head as she let her fingers trace a familiar path around his front to undo his belt buckle.
‘Shower and you first, dinner can wait,’ she looked up at him through her lashes.
‘Excellent idea,’ he whispered, sealing his lips to hers and starting to tug her shirt up over her head and letting it drop into a paint covered pile on the floor by their feet.
Maybe her day off wouldn’t be such a bust after all, Hailey thought as she pulled Jay into the shower with her, turning on the water and ridding themselves of their clothes just as quickly. And they were conserving water too.

Luke/Ashton (2) Masterlist
part one
can't find the sound under my tongue (ao3) - lifewasradical M, 13k
Summary: One year, nine months, eighteen days. Luke and Ashton have been attached at the hip for one year, nine months, and eighteen days. Six hundred, fifty six days. Almost twenty two months. One could argue that no, it’s actually been months and years longer than that; but officially, their time together is bound by a date, one solid time where they said yeah, this is it. Despite being this far into a relationship, one punctuated by extended time on the road, living so intertwined, they still don’t live together.
Or, Ashton refuses to move in with Luke. Alternately, a fic inspired by black butterflies and deja vu
Cards Are Dealt - @ashtcnirwin (elivigar) E, 100k
Summary: “You wanna… date me?” he asks eventually, when the silence is starting to feel loaded. “I don’t date and even if I did, I definitely wouldn’t be interested in dating you. I’d say no offense, but… full fucking offense.”
Ashton snorts. “Don’t flatter yourself, pumpkin, I have no interest in dating you either. Actually, the thought alone is exhausting and a little nauseating.”
Clenching his jaw, Luke grinds his teeth and shakes his head. “Then what do you want from me?”
“Sex. I already said that.”
A story about wants and expectations branching out and evolving without the knowledge or consent of those they belong to.
Christmas Tree Farm (ao3) - no_clue_who T, 14k
Summary: Ashton walked into the apartment to see Luke pacing around the room, phone on his ear. Ashton waved to him as he slowly closed the door, he watched Luke climb up onto the couch and onto their coffee table. He put his bag down, and took off his coat and scarf, trying to ignore Luke’s conversation with his family.
“Yes mom, I’m going home,” Luke said, stepping down onto the floor again, “Ben and Jack won't have to do everything-” Luke waved to Ashton once he saw him, “Yes mom, I won’t leave them alone to do anything. No, he, he isn’t sick, I won't have to take care of him.”
Ashton walked into their kitchen and grabbed something, trying to remember who Luke would have taken care of. He turned around and saw Luke back on the table, one hand gesturing wildly.
“No mom I can’t,” Luke stopped talking and looked at Ashton, “He might be going away!”
Come Thru (ao3) - bitchnluke E, 10k
Summary: Luke was used to being a playboy bunny, and he loved the pampered life of a playboy bunny. So yeah, you could say he was a spoilt brat. One day, his daddy tells him he is no longer his daddy, and that he has a new one. That his new daddy was the CEO of playboy bunny, which happened to be the owners nephew, Ashton Irwin. His old daddy tells him to go make Ashton loosen up and have fun.
flowers in your hair (boys can't be pretty) (ao3) - prettyluke (parting_ways) N/R, 71k
Summary: Ashton has been in love with the pretty boy next door since he was seven. Luke has called Ashton home since he was five. They grew up with the daisy field behind their houses, but nobody told them that they couldn't love anywhere else.
home is wherever you are tonight (ao3) - lifewasradical M, 72k
Summary: Life has become so mundane in the past few years that there’s very little that sends a thrill up Luke’s spine anymore. It’s that idea that had him saying yes to the idea of moving out here for a few weeks anyways: the knowledge that this was a completely new place where no one knew his name. He could be anyone he wanted to be here, within reason. He wouldn’t be seeing any of these people again after May, so what’s the harm in becoming a new person for a bit? Someone not so bogged down by the shit in their head that they can’t get out of bed some mornings. Maybe this is a step in the direction of the person Luke wants to be in the future anyways.
Or, Luke inherits a beach house on a tiny coastal island that needs some work. He didn’t plan on falling in love with the guy at the hardware store.
I Bet You Think About Me (ao3) - warmstableplace M, 5k
Summary: After divorcing his husband of nearly five years, Luke is single for the first time since he was eighteen. To celebrate his divorce being finalized, his best friend Michael takes him out to a bar where he gets drunk and spills everything to a cute stranger. Awkwardness ensues. Luke learns how to heal.
If Walls Could Talk (ao3) - boomerluke M, 43k
Summary: "Ashton, when a person tells you that you hurt them you don't get to decide that you didn't."
Or the one where Luke and Ashton are friends with benefits, but Luke wants more and Ashton isn't gay.
morphine lover, make me numb (ao3) - swiefts E, 15k
Summary: He knew what the ancients said about the butterflies but right now there were planets colliding with one another inside his stomach, inevitably exploding. Feeding him with irrevocable lust. Crushing his bones and stealing his oxygen.
That’s what Luke does to him.
Maybe Ashton’s not a derailed comet. Maybe he’s a fucking shooting star, because he was falling. Falling for Luke.
Or the one where Luke is maybe more than just Ashton's fuck buddy. And Ashton may be falling for him.
Risky Risqué - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) E, 22k
Summary: It's only his freshman year in college and Luke is having too many problems. One, he can barely afford to feed himself. Two, the junior in the dorm next door has way too pretty hazel eyes and keeps offering to make him dinner.
Or, the one where Luke needs a job to pay his tuition and ends up getting one as a phone sex operator.
Shameless (ao3) - HeartnArrow N/R, 39k
Summary: Luke is captain of the hockey team, one of the most popular guys in school along with calum hood, came out as gay last year. ashton is a nerd who gets straight a’s and has yet to have his first kiss at the age of 17. michael is his best friend who isn't really a nerd but has known ashton since preschool. ashton has always watched luke from afar, admiring him at the hockey games and in the hallways. he’s had a crush on him since freshman year but luke doesn't even know his name.
or Luke was looking for a fuck buddy while Ashton was looking for love.
Souvenir (ao3) - Honeyedlashton E, 43k
Summary: In the close-knit town of Brightwich, New York, everyone follows the same morning routine every day. Wake up, wave to the neighbor, and maybe grab breakfast at the town’s favorite diner. But today it’s different. Today, The preacher’s son, Luke, discovers a something new. Today there’s a stranger in town.
But when he actually talks to Ashton, Luke sees more companionship in this James-Dean-wannabe than what everyone else would probably like. And when trying to get Ashton in touch with the joy of familiarity in the little town’s everyday life, Luke starts to enjoy the promise of adventure and mystery surrounding Ashton a little more than he ought.
spread your wings for me (ao3) - cashcakeplz N/R, 32k
Summary: Or the one where Ashton likes to watch Luke pray, and Luke is more than happy to serve the bad boy of the school.
starboy (ao3) - orphan_account E, 79k
Summary: Ashton is quite miserable, so when his friends take him on vacation to cure him of his sorrows, the universe sends him a star made of innocence that is meant to be ruined.
Tie That Binds - @ashtcnirwin (elivigar) E, 98k
Summary: In which Luke wants to explore miscellaneous kinks and Ashton strikes him as a good candidate to do said exploring with with.
Tis' The Damn Season (ao3) - beendreaminglikeafool E, 13k
Summary: Luke felt he was walking on a wire that got thinner and weaker the longer he tried to balance himself, only to be pulled down by heavy gravity and land on the cold ground with nothing but wounds that never healed, no matter how long he tried or waited.
The passage of time was all a haze of bright lights and blurry colors but Luke just accepted it, all he was was an ash from the fire that burned too bright.
or: Luke decides to spent the holidays with Calum and Michael while trying to get over Ashton.
when did the diamonds leave your bones (ao3) - orphan_account E, 41k
Summary: It should be embarrassing, the way Ashton’s looking at him right now, but it’s much better than the last one he gave him; one of pure hurt, like he could never be forgiven for what he’d done. If Ashton still hates him—if he ever did, and Luke suspects he might have—he’s at the very least not letting it show.
“Do you want—something?” Luke asks, gesturing behind himself towards the kitchen, but he’s not entirely sure if that’s what he’s asking.
“Can I stay here for a few days?”
(or, eighteen months into an indefinite hiatus, Ashton shows up on Luke's doorstep and moves into his spare room.)
Where the Heart Is (ao3) - LyricalPary (hoseoky) E, 86k
Summary: By the time that Ashton Irwin is twenty-seven years old, he's already a widower and a father of three. After his third nanny quits on him, he comes to the conclusion that life in general doesn't seem to like him very much—that is, until his luck turns around when he discovers a particular nanny by the name of Luke H.
The question now is, can a twenty-two year old man with mile-long legs and a smile made of gold really be the super nanny that Ashton needs?
Perhaps so.
White Noise (ao3) - merlypops E, 7k
Summary: Luke and Ashton have massive crushes on each other, Ashton throws a party, and all of Luke's dreams come true. (Maybe they're a tiny bit in love too. Maybe.)

How Home Remodeling in Hallandale Beach, Miramar, Dania Beach, Hollywood, and Davie, FL Can Boost Property Value
Hallandale Beach, with its scenic beauty and vibrant community, has become a sought-after location for homeowners and potential buyers alike. Home remodeling is one of the most effective strategies in such a competitive market to increase property value and attract buyers. From enhancing curb appeal to upgrading interior spaces, home remodeling in Hallandale Beach, Miramar, Dania Beach, Hollywood, and Davie, FL, can significantly impact the resale value of one's home.
Kitchen Upgrades: A Top Priority
The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home, making it a focal point for potential buyers. Modernizing this space can yield one of the highest returns on investment. In Hallandale Beach, where stylish and functional living spaces are highly desirable, incorporating energy-efficient appliances, sleek countertops, and custom cabinetry can make one's kitchen stand out. Adding a fresh coat of paint in neutral tones and installing contemporary lighting fixtures further enhances its appeal.
Bathroom Remodeling: Luxury Matters
Bathrooms are another area where renovations can make a significant difference. Homebuyers often look for spa-like features like walk-in showers, freestanding tubs, and dual sinks. High-quality finishes, like marble or quartz countertops, and upgraded fixtures contribute to a luxurious feel. Simple updates, such as replacing old tiles or adding modern lighting, can create a lasting impression without breaking the bank.
Boosting Curb Appeal
First impressions matter, and the home's exterior sets the tone for what's inside. Enhancing curb appeal through landscaping, fresh paint, or a new front door can instantly increase property value. In Hallandale Beach, where outdoor living is a priority, adding features like a well-designed patio, outdoor kitchen, or swimming pool can further elevate the home's desirability.
Open Floor Plans: Maximizing Space
Modern buyers often prefer open and airy layouts that maximize natural light and create a sense of spaciousness. Removing non-structural walls to create an open floor plan can make the home feel larger and more inviting. This trend is especially popular in coastal areas like Hallandale Beach, where the indoor-outdoor connection is highly valued.
Energy-Efficient Upgrades
With increasing awareness of environmental sustainability, energy-efficient homes are in high demand. Installing solar panels, energy-efficient windows, and smart thermostats reduces utility costs and appeals to eco-conscious buyers. In sunny Hallandale Beach, these upgrades are particularly beneficial and can set the property apart from others on the market.
Adding Usable Square Footage
Increasing the livable space of the property is a surefire way to boost its value. Consider converting an unused attic or basement into a functional room, such as a guest suite or home office. In Hallandale Beach, where space can be a premium, additions like a sunroom or an extended deck can make the property more attractive to buyers.
Smart Home Features: The Future of Living
Integrating smart technology into one's home is an excellent way to enhance its marketability. Features like automated lighting, security systems, and voice-controlled appliances add convenience and sophistication. These modern touches can significantly impact buyer interest in a tech-savvy market like Hallandale Beach.
Regular Maintenance and Minor Updates
Not all remodeling projects need to be extensive or expensive. Regular maintenance, such as fixing leaks, repainting walls, and updating outdated hardware, can go a long way in preserving and increasing one's home's value. Simple updates like replacing old carpets with hardwood flooring or adding crown molding can elevate the home's aesthetic appeal.
When the real estate market is competitive, and buyers have high expectations, home remodeling in Hallandale Beach, Miramar, Dania Beach, Hollywood, and Davie, FL offers a clear path to boosting property value. By focusing on key areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces and incorporating modern and energy-efficient features, homeowners can significantly enhance their resale value.

The Complete Guide to Cabinet Installation in Honolulu
Are you planning a kitchen or bathroom remodel in Honolulu? Cabinet installation is one of the most important parts of creating a functional and visually stunning space. Whether you’re upgrading your current cabinets or starting from scratch, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about cabinet installation in Honolulu. Plus, we’ll highlight why Amcor Construction LLC is your go-to choice for cabinet installation services in the area.
Why Cabinets Matter
Cabinets play a dual role in any space. They’re essential for storage and organization, but they also define the aesthetic appeal of your room. In a place as unique as Honolulu, where homes often embrace tropical, modern, or coastal styles, the right cabinets can elevate your space while blending seamlessly with the local vibe.
Pre-Installation Planning
Before installing cabinets, proper planning is crucial. Here’s what you need to consider:
Measure Your Space Take accurate measurements of your kitchen, bathroom, or office space. Don’t forget to account for ceiling height, corners, and any appliances or fixtures. Precision here will save you time and headaches later.
Choose Your Cabinet Style Honolulu homeowners often prefer cabinets that reflect the island’s natural beauty. You might consider materials like bamboo, wood with rich grains, or white finishes for a clean, airy look. Decide between stock, semi-custom, and fully custom cabinets based on your budget and preferences.
Prepare the Area Clear out the room and ensure the walls are level. If necessary, address any plumbing or electrical work before installation begins.
Steps for Cabinet Installation
Here’s a step-by-step overview of the cabinet installation process:
Mark the Layout Use a pencil or chalk to outline where each cabinet will go. This includes upper and lower cabinets. Pay special attention to ensuring the base cabinets are level since this impacts the entire setup.
Install Upper Cabinets First Starting with upper cabinets prevents the base cabinets from getting in your way. Secure them to the wall studs using screws and make sure they’re perfectly aligned.
Position Base Cabinets Next, install the base cabinets. Adjust them as needed to ensure they’re level and plumb. Use shims if the floor is uneven, which is common in some older Honolulu homes.
Attach Doors and Hardware Once the cabinets are securely in place, attach the doors, handles, and knobs. Ensure everything opens and closes smoothly.
Finalize with Trim and Caulking Add finishing touches like crown molding or toe-kicks for a polished look. Use caulk to seal any gaps between the cabinets and walls.
The Honolulu Difference
Cabinet installation in Honolulu comes with unique challenges and considerations. The island’s high humidity levels mean materials should be carefully chosen to resist warping and moisture damage. Amcor Construction LLC is well-versed in these local nuances, making them the best choice for cabinet installation services.

Bronze door handles: elevate your home's style and durability with timeless elegance.
When it comes to planning or renovating a home, homeowners frequently prioritise important elements, such as furnishings, wall colours, and flooring. However, the choice of door hardware has a considerable impact on the overall aesthetics of a property. While there are many options available, bronze door handles stand out due to their timeless appeal, adaptability, and exceptional durability.
Whether you're building a new home, remodelling a specific area, or simply replacing worn-out hardware, bronze door handles can add sophistication and beauty to any setting. They offer the optimum balance of functionality, design, and robustness, making them suitable for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications.
In this detailed guide, we'll go over everything you need to know about bronze door knobs, from their history and benefits to how to select the best one for your space. They'll also be cared for to maintain their beauty.
What are bronze door handles?
Copper, tin, and possibly aluminium, silicon, or phosphorus make up the alloy known as bronze. People highly value the resulting material for its strength, durability, and unique appearance. One of the most appealing aspects of bronze is its propensity to develop a natural patina over time, which enhances its charm and character. This gives each bronze door handle a distinct appearance with slight colour variations as the metal matures.
Bronze door handles are available in a range of forms, sizes, and styles, with finishes such as polished, satin, and oil-rubbed. This material's adaptability allows it to match both modern and classic interiors, making it a popular choice among homeowners, interior designers, and architects.
Bronze door knobs are a fantastic choice for a range of doors, whether interior or exterior, because of their natural beauty and rough durability. They provide both elegance and functionality.
Why Choose Bronze Door Handles?
Timeless elegance.
One of the most convincing reasons to use bronze doorknobs is their ageless elegance. The rich tones of bronze, ranging from reddish-brown to deep gold and copper, add warmth to any decor. Unlike bright, polished finishes, bronze handles have a more subtle yet stylish appearance that works well in both traditional and contemporary settings.
The patina that bronze develops over time enhances its visual attractiveness, giving it a vintage or antique appearance that many homeowners prefer. The beauty of bronze is that it is never overtly flashy—its warm, natural hues merge smoothly into many contexts, making it suitable for practically any home.
Whether you're decorating a historic structure, a modern flat, or a suburban home, the subtle, opulent shimmer of bronze door knobs will elevate and beautify the area.
Durability and strength.
Bronze is renowned for its extreme durability and strength. The metal is corrosion-resistant and can withstand the environment, making it a popular choice for both interior and outdoor doors. Unlike other finishes, bronze will not tarnish, rust, or corrode, guaranteeing that your door hardware remains beautiful for many years.
Bronze is an excellent option for exterior doors, particularly if you live in a coastal area with high humidity or salty air. It will not corrode like other metals and provides long-term moisture resistance. Even on interior doors, bronze has had unrivalled endurance, sustaining function, and decorative appeal for decades.
Over time, the natural oxidation process contributes to the development of a patina, which adds to the material's appeal and gives it a wonderful, aged aspect. This technique does not degrade the bronze; rather, it strengthens the metal, making it even more robust over time. Bronze's widespread use on doors and other high-traffic areas stems primarily from this.
Adaptability in design.
Bronze door handles are known for their design adaptability. Bronze is an excellent choice for a variety of door types, available in a variety of finishes and mouldable into almost any shape. Bronze handles are available in a variety of styles, including traditional and ornate as well as modern and elegant.
The bronze handle's finish has a significant impact on its appearance. For example, an oil-rubbed bronze finish has a dark, nearly black appearance with rich brown undertones, making it ideal for adding rustic or old character. A polished bronze finish, on the other hand, is shiny and reflective, giving it a brighter and more modern appearance. You can also choose a satin bronze finish, which provides the metal with a softer, matte appearance that complements modern environments.
Bronze handles can be shaped into a variety of styles, including:
Round knobs are popular in classical or minimalist designs due to their simplicity and timeless appeal.
Use lever handles for a modern and functional style.
Bronze handles with unique engravings or accents are available for those seeking complex or ornate designs.
Heavy-duty bronze pull handles may make a big statement on larger doors, like sliding patio doors.
Low maintenance.
Bronze requires less care than other finishes. While other materials, such as brass or chrome, may require frequent cleaning to maintain their sheen, bronze handles develop a natural patina that requires no ongoing maintenance. This ageing process gives them their distinct character, and some homeowners prefer to let the patina grow organically over time.
To keep your bronze handles appearing shiny, simply clean them off with a gentle cloth and mild soap. If you want to speed up the patina process, rub the surface of the handle with a cloth or mild abrasive.
Specialist materials like waxes and protective coatings can also clean and protect bronze. Unlike chrome or polished metals, bronze is more forgiving of fingerprints, smudges, and dirt.
Adds Character to Your Home
One of the most appealing qualities of bronze doorknobs is the way they lend character to a room. As the metal ages and develops a natural patina, each bronze handle becomes distinct, with subtle differences in colour and texture. As a result, bronze door knobs are more than just a practical component of your home; they are also a design feature that evolves and develops with time.
Whether you're updating a single door or upgrading hardware throughout your home, bronze lends a touch of craftsmanship and heritage to your living spaces. Bronze is ideal for homes with a rustic or vintage design, harmonising wonderfully with other natural materials such as wood, stone, and brick. Bronze adds warmth without overwhelming modern rooms, making a striking contrast to minimalist décor.
Where to Use Bronze Door Handles at Home
Entry Doors.
Visitors form their first impression of your property through its entry door, so it's crucial to create a striking impression. Bronze door knobs are an excellent choice for outdoor doors because they combine durability with a refined, timeless design. Bronze provides an inviting, traditional design that sticks out on any front, back, or patio door.
Bronze's resilience to weathering makes it perfect for residences in coastal or high-humidity settings. Rain, snow, and salt air will not harm the finish, ensuring that your door handles remain in excellent condition year after year.
Interior Doors.
Bronze door handles are suitable for both interior and exterior doors. Bronze handles, whether used in bedrooms, bathrooms, or hallways, add an air of refinement and grandeur to any space. They suit a wide range of interior styles, from conventional wood-panel doors to more modern, minimalist designs.
Bronze-finished privacy door knobs can enhance the elegance of bedrooms or bathrooms while still providing the necessary functionality. Passage or phantom door handles in bronze are ideal for maintaining a consistent design concept throughout the house, especially in more open spaces such as living rooms or kitchens.
Sliding Doors
Bronze pull handles work well on larger or sliding doors. Compared to smaller, typical doors, bronze's weight and solidity make it a suitable material for these frequently used types of doors. Bronze knobs, whether on a glass sliding door leading to your patio or a barn-style door, will provide a fashionable and lasting touch to these entryways.
Cabinet Hardware
Bronze is a common choice for cabinet knobs and drawer pulls, as well as door handles. Bronze cabinet hardware offers a coherent look to every room, including the kitchen, bathroom, and living room. The warmth of bronze complements wood, granite, or marble surfaces, bringing a touch of refinement to your cabinetry.
Patio doors and garden gates.
Bronze handles are an excellent choice for external applications like patios and garden gates. Their tolerance to the elements guarantees that they can tolerate exposure to the sun, rain, and extreme temperatures while remaining beautiful. A huge, elegant bronze pull handle may make an excellent focal point for any outdoor gate or garden door.
How to select the right bronze door handle for your home
Consider the room and function.
Different rooms require various types of door hardware. For example, you might want a privacy knob or lock for a bathroom or bedroom, whereas a passage knob would be better suited to a closet or corridor. Choose a handle that is appropriate for the purpose of the door in question.
Match the style of the room.
When selecting a bronze door handle, consider the room's overall design style. Antique-style bronze handles, for example, are ideal for classic, vintage-inspired settings; sleek, modern bronze handles may be appropriate for a contemporary or minimalist design. Matching the door handle to the room's décor will help you establish a consistent look throughout your home.
Select the Right Finish.
The bronze handle's finish has a significant impact on its overall appearance. Oil-rubbed bronze has a deeper, more rustic appearance, whereas polished bronze appears brighter and more modern. Satin bronze has a matte finish for a more modern look. Choose a finish that works well with the other pieces in the room.
Consider the size and shape.
Make sure the handle you chose is the correct size for the door. Larger doors may necessitate larger handles, whereas smaller doors or more delicate areas may benefit from simpler, more subtle designs. Furthermore, the style of the handle should complement the room's décor, whether it's a round knob for a traditional look or a lever handle for a more modern or accessible option.
Conclusion
Bronze door knobs are an excellent balance of elegance, durability, and versatility. Whether you're outfitting your entry doors, adding a touch of luxury to your internal doors, or renovating your cabinetry, bronze hardware has a timeless appeal that blends easily into any room. Its rich colour palette and natural ageing process add warmth and character to your house, while its durability ensures long-term use.
Bronze door knobs, available in a variety of finishes, patterns, and applications, are a flexible addition to any home, bringing both beauty and usefulness. If you want a fashionable, long-lasting solution, bronze door knobs are the best option.

Can Copper Door Knobs Help Keep Your Home Safe?
Do you ever consider the materials you use for the hardware of your home? Most of us tend to think about style, design, and color when selecting door knobs, but do you ever think about how the material itself could enhance the security of your home?
Copper door knobs are the stylish and timeless option that not only beautifies your home's interior but also offers benefits when it comes to security. The million-dollar question is then this: Can copper door knobs keep your home safe? In this blog, let's find out how much copper can do more than decorating your doors.
1. Natural Antibacterial Property of Copper: How Can It Safeguard Your Family?
Well, let's start with an interesting fact. Copper has a natural property of being antibacterial. You heard that right! It kills bacteria, fungi, and viruses at the touch of contact. Such properties are pretty useful, especially in the entryways or kitchen doors where germs and bacteria are most likely to spread.
How Does This Affect Your Home’s Safety?
By choosing copper door knobs, you’re essentially adding an extra layer of cleanliness and hygiene to your home. While this might not directly influence physical security, it’s a subtle way of improving hygiene and preventing the spread of germs. This is especially important during cold and flu season or in households with young children or elderly family members who are more vulnerable to infections.
Quick Question-When was the last time you cleaned your door knobs? Now imagine a material that helps keep bacteria in check without you having to lift a finger!
2. Durability and Strength: Can Copper Withstand the Test of Time?
Copper is known to be durable. Even though it's considered to be softer than steel, it has still been found to be relatively strong for normal usage. The copper door knobs don't wear and tear easily and thus are the best in terms of looks and practicality.
How Does This Relate to Security?
The strength of the metal ensures that your door knobs don't easily wear down even after years of usage. This strength plays a huge role in your house's security. Over the long run, poorly constructed or worn-out door knobs make easy targets for burglars; however, with the case of copper door knobs, you don't need to worry about breakage and deterioration. Their durable state ensures that your doors stay firm without requiring frequent changes.
Quick Question: Are you changing the door knob frequently? What if you upgrade to a more durable material that will last for decades?
3. Copper's Resistance to Corrosion: What Does That Mean for Security?
Another great characteristic of copper is that it does not corrode. With time, copper forms a protective layer of patina, which not only gives it a better look but also prevents further corrosion. This means that copper door knobs will continue to function properly and maintain their aesthetic appeal for many years, even in humid or coastal areas where moisture tends to cause rust on other metals.
Choose a reliable material that will be potent in all environments. Weakness through corrosion may crack or break other metals when exposed to the elements for the long term. With such resistance to corrosion, however, copper ensures that its door knobs will function perfectly and securely for years into the future. One more problem off your mind regarding what makes your home safe.
Ever had to replace some corroded door hardware? This should convince you that copper is bound to save you all the tussle and cost down the road due to its natural resistance to corrosion.
4. Copper's Specific Beauty: How Can You Make Your Home More Inviting and Secure?
While copper is undoubtedly stylish, its unique appearance also happens to serve a practical purpose. The warm, reddish-brown color of copper is such that it develops beautifully over time into a lovely patina. But what does that have to do with security?
How Does Copper's Look Add to Security?
The unique visual may, of course be enough to deter an intruder. A beautifully crafted, distinctive door knob can indicate to thieves that your home is well-maintained and secure. Old, ugly door hardware may appear like a softer target. A shining copper knob may faintly imply that your home is cared for and protected, thus encouraging thieves to seek easier pickings.
Quick Poll: Does the door hardware you have installed impact your feeling about the security of your home? Copper comes in an exclusive appearance that could add another layer of perceived security to your home.
5. Copper Door Knobs: A Long-Durable, Secure Option
Copper has been in the world of design and architecture for hundreds of years. It runs from ancient civilizations to homes of the present. Since copper has that timeless beauty to it, it makes this metal perfect for anyone in search of a door knob which can blend well with their kind of home style.
Can Copper Door Knobs Be a Long-Term Investment?
The fact that copper has been used in design for thousands of years shows just how long-lasting and reliable it is. Investing in copper door knobs means you’re choosing a material that won’t only enhance your home’s aesthetic but will also stand the test of time. Copper’s durability and resistance to corrosion make it an excellent investment for long-term security and style.
Wouldn't it be fabulous to know that the door knobs in your home are not just great-looking but will, too, last for years? Copper's strength and loveliness make it the intelligent, secure choice.

Can Copper Door Knobs Help Keep Your Home Safe?
Do you ever consider the materials you use for the hardware of your home? Most of us tend to think about style, design, and color when selecting door knobs, but do you ever think about how the material itself could enhance the security of your home?
Copper door knob is the stylish and timeless option that not only beautifies your home's interior but also offers benefits when it comes to security.
The unique visual may, of course, be enough to deter an intruder.

Coastal Home Builder: Designing Your Seaside Dream Home
Building a home by the sea offers amazing views of the ocean. However, there are some unique construction challenges that you have to deal with. That’s why you need to work with a coastal home builder that you can trust. Let’s learn more about luxury home remodeling San Diego and figure out how you can design your dream home by the beach.
Embrace the Views
Maximizing the ocean vistas should be one of the top priorities when sitting and orienting your coastal retreat. Consider an open-concept main living area with huge windows to frame the scenery. Strategically place decks and balconies for panoramic outlooks. You’ll want to enjoy the atmosphere in every room.
Select Storm-Tested Materials
The salt air and wind can be rough on a beach house. That’s why we recommend durable exterior materials like concrete, stucco, brick, and hardy plank. These will stand up to the elements better than regular siding. Use storm-rated windows and doors as an added defense against heavy weather.
Elevate Above Flood Levels
As seas continue to rise, flooding poses an increasing threat to coastal buildings. Work with us to determine the ideal height to raise your home above base flood elevations. This may mean constructing on stilts or pilings. We can help incorporate the elevation into an attractive design.
Resist Corrosion and Rot
The salty humidity permeates everything along the shore. That’s why all outdoor construction materials from roofing to deck boards need to withstand corrosion. Use marine-grade lumber, stainless steel hardware, and aluminum components whenever possible. Regular maintenance will also keep decay at bay.
Fortify Against Hurricanes
Storm surges and high winds put beach houses at heightened risk during hurricanes. That’s why we ensure roof, windows, and doors are rated to withstand intense pressures. We also strongly advise installing storm shutters for additional protection. Other smart measures include elevating mechanical systems and using flood-resistant materials on lower levels.
Embrace Indoor-Outdoor Living
One of the best parts of living on the coast is enjoying the temperate climate. Maximize seaside living by incorporating ample outdoor access from your home. Sliding glass walls, multiple lanais and verandas, and seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces will let you soak up the fresh environments.
Conserve Natural Surroundings
Part of the allure of an oceanfront site is its beautiful natural backdrop. We work sensitively with the land to preserve vital dunes, native vegetation, and other ecological assets. This creates a home immersed in the iconic coastal landscape while protecting the fragile environment.

Are stainless steel door handles durable? Exploring strength, style, and longevity.
When it comes to home and business building improvement, selecting the appropriate door hardware is more than just about aesthetics. One of the most significant aspects to consider is durability. Whether in a high-traffic office building, a bustling restaurant, or a residential residence, door handles play an important role in a property's day-to-day operations. One of the most common and dependable materials for door hardware is stainless steel. But how durable are stainless steel door handles?
In this blog, we'll examine the key factors, backed by statistics, case studies, and examples, that contribute to the durability of stainless steel door handles. Our discussion will also cover why stainless steel is so popular in homes and businesses and how to maintain these handles for years.
What makes stainless steel door handles so durable?
Before we get into the practical benefits of stainless steel door handles, let's first grasp the science underlying their durability. Iron and chromium dominate the composition of stainless steel with minor amounts of nickel and other metals. It is known for its capacity to resist a variety of environmental conditions. Here's a breakdown of why stainless steel is so durable:
Corrosion Resistance:
One of the distinguishing characteristics of stainless steel is its resistance to corrosion. The chromium in the alloy forms a protective layer on the steel's surface, preventing rusting and corrosion. Stainless steel does not rust or tarnish as easily as other metals, such as iron or aluminium, in situations that include moisture, humidity, or even saltwater.
For example, in coastal settings, where salty air can quickly rust other materials, stainless steel is unaffected. Stainless steel door handles can withstand the demands of both indoor and outdoor environments, making them an excellent choice for any door hardware.
Why Stainless Steel Door Handles Are the Best Choice
Now that we've covered why stainless steel door hinges are so long-lasting, let's look at why they're generally the first choice for homeowners, companies, and contractors.
1. Scratch and Dent Resistance:
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing door knobs is their susceptibility to damage from constant use. Stainless steel door knobs are extremely resistant to scratches, dents, and dings. The material is extremely robust, so it can withstand physical hits without displaying visible evidence of damage.
Case Study: Office Building with Heavy Traffic Stainless steel handles were fitted throughout an office building with over 500 employees and a high circulation volume. After two years of intensive use, the handles still seemed brand new, with no visible scratches or dents. In contrast, wooden handles in the same structure needed constant touch-ups to keep their appearance. This exhibits the durability of stainless steel in high-traffic areas.
2. Longevity: Built to Last.
People recognise stainless steel door handles for their durability. Unlike wood, plastic, and lesser alloys, stainless steel does not break, distort, or lose its integrity over time. This makes it a beneficial investment.
In fact, with proper maintenance, stainless steel door handles can survive for decades without showing noticeable wear. This is especially essential in business settings, where replacing handles every few years can be an expensive and time-consuming process.
Stat: The Door Hardware Institute (DHI) found that stainless steel door hardware can last up to 50% longer than other materials in high-traffic regions. Stainless steel's durability considerably minimises the need for replacements, saving money and time in the long run.
3. Resistance to the elements.
Stainless steel resists not just water corrosion but also other environmental stressors such as severe temperatures and UV radiation. This makes it perfect for outdoor settings where doors face the harsh rays of the sun, snow, or rain.
Consider commercial premises with external stainless steel handles. Whether in a restaurant with high foot traffic or an apartment complex exposed to the elements, stainless steel handles retain their strength and aesthetic appeal for years. Stainless steel's thermal resistance also assures that it will not bend or degrade in high temperatures, making it an excellent material for fire-rated doors and other heat-sensitive areas.
Advantages of stainless steel door handles
Stainless steel door handles have become the preferred material for a wide range of applications due to factors beyond their longevity.
1. Visually appealing: a modern look
Stainless steel door handles are not only practical but also visually appealing. Their sleek and modern appearance has made them the preferred choice for individuals looking to add a touch of refinement and flair to their homes. Whether in a residential or commercial structure, stainless steel's polished finish gives a modern touch.
2.Low maintenance.
Compared to other materials, stainless steel door handles are extremely simple to maintain. To eliminate dirt and fingerprints, simply clean them with a soft cloth and mild detergent on a regular basis. Stainless steel handles, unlike wooden or brass ones, rarely require repainting or refinishing, making them a low-maintenance option.
3.Eco-friendly.
Sustainability is a major concern, and stainless steel complements eco-friendly building approaches. Because stainless steel is 100% recyclable, you can reuse it after its lengthy lifespan without losing any of its qualities. Choosing stainless steel door handles is an eco-friendly move that can make the world a greener place.
Are stainless steel door handles suitable for space?
While stainless steel door knobs have a number of advantages, you should examine your space's individual requirements. For example, if you're installing a high-traffic business building or restaurant, you may require handles that can withstand a lot of wear. In contrast, for residential areas, the appearance and feel of the handle may be as significant as its usefulness.
Here's a brief overview of where stainless steel door handles function best:
1.Residential spaces.
Stainless steel handles have a clean, sleek look that complements contemporary design. Their resistance to rust makes them excellent for bathrooms and kitchens where moisture is an issue. Furthermore, they keep their appearance and functionality for a long period, decreasing the need for regular replacements.
2. Commercial and industrial spaces.
Stainless steel door handles are essential for commercial, workplace, and public environments. These settings frequently have high foot traffic; thus, the door handles must resist regular use. The strength and durability of stainless steel make it an excellent choice. Stainless steel's resistance to damage makes it ideal for public facilities like hospitals, schools, and retail malls.
3. Outdoor use
Stainless steel is the perfect material for weathering exterior doors on your property. Stainless steel door handles can withstand sunlight, rain, and sea air without corroding or degrading.
The use of stainless steel door handles in modern architecture
Stainless steel door handles are not only useful in modern buildings but also an important aspect of the design appeal. Stainless steel's sleek, minimalist appearance matches a variety of architectural types, from modern businesses to opulent homes. This material is ideal for contemporary environments that emphasise simplicity, elegance, and longevity.
Designers frequently choose stainless steel door handles because of their clean lines, adaptability, and ability to merge effortlessly with a variety of materials, including glass, wood, and concrete. Stainless steel handles enhance the overall appearance of a residential house with an industrial flair or a commercial structure that minimalism. Often, people use the modest elegance of stainless steel handles as a focal point, enhancing the overall design of the door and surrounding area.
For instance, a recent corporate office refurbishment chose stainless steel door handles to complement the modern glass and concrete architecture. Despite their modest form, the handles lent a sophisticated touch to the building's clean and coherent style.
Comparing stainless steel and other materials for door handles
While stainless steel door handles have numerous advantages, it's crucial to assess how they stack up against other materials such as brass, aluminium, and bronze. Each material has advantages and limitations, and the ideal decision is based on your requirements and tastes.
For instance, brass handles are renowned for their rich, classic beauty, but they need extra care to prevent tarnishing. Aluminium is lightweight and corrosion-resistant, but it is not as strong as stainless steel, particularly in high-traffic areas. Bronze has a distinct, ancient appearance, but it can tarnish with time and is prone to rust if not properly maintained.
When it comes to durability, stainless steel outperforms other materials due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and long lifespan. Unlike brass and bronze, stainless steel does not require continual polishing or maintenance to preserve its lustre and finish, making it the most practical and dependable choice for a variety of applications.
If you want a material that combines strength, style, and low maintenance, stainless steel door knobs are the best option. Whether you're developing a new house or furnishing a commercial building, stainless steel offers a long-lasting, environmentally friendly, and visually beautiful alternative for every space.
Tips for Maintaining Stainless Steel Door Handles
Although stainless steel door handles require little maintenance, careful care will keep them looking beautiful for years. Here are a few ways to help extend the life of your stainless steel hardware:
1.Regular cleaning.
To eliminate dust, filth, and fingerprints, wipe down the handles on a regular basis using a soft cloth and mild soap. For harder stains, a solution of water and vinegar can work. Avoid aggressive chemicals, since they can remove the protective covering of stainless steel and cause discolouration.
2. Polishing for more shine.
To keep your stainless steel door knobs shiny, use a specialist polish or cleaner. Simply apply the cleanser to a soft cloth and buff the surface in the same direction as the grain. This will help maintain the sleek appearance and guarantee that the handles maintain their shine for years to come.
3. Addressing water spots.
Water stains and mineral deposits can occur on stainless steel, particularly in places with hard water. To remove these stains, use a clean, dry microfibre cloth or a vinegar-water solution to dissolve the mineral accumulation.
Wrapping Up
Are stainless steel door handles durable? Without a question, yes. They are exceptionally strong, resistant to corrosion, and scratch-resistant. Stainless steel door knobs are a useful, elegant, and long-lasting addition to any home, office, or business facility. Their capacity to survive every day use in high-traffic areas, along with their modern appearance, makes them a beneficial choice for both functional and aesthetic reasons.
