A Small Perth & Chimon Timeline
Since I like procrastinating post about Perth and Chimon excessively, I decided to put together a small timeline of them and some of their works! I'm definitely missing a few things because I've been a fan for under 6 months but I wanted to share (under the cut ↓)
Excuse my poor formatting again, I'm more used to word vomiting www
Before I talk about PerthChimon(TM),
I would like to bring up some of Chimon's previous projects. Chimon has been acting as a full time career since 2016, due to financial problems his family faced. His first named role was Nack from Sweet Boy (I won't be posting it because I don't. like the movie lmfao). Later that year he joined GMMTV as a supporting character in Senior Secret Love: My Lil Boy 2.
Tumblr media
(this is also where he met Nanon! They've know eachother for almost 8 years now)
In 2017, he was cast in My Dear Loser: Edge of 17 as Sun, in a side pairing alongside Pluem Purim. The two of them would star as In-Sun again in My Dear Loser: Happy Ever After (2017) and Our Skyy (2018)'s My Dear Loser episode. This is when (I suspect) Chimon became more well known in English fandom spaces, playing one half of a BL side pairing.
Tumblr media
(the in-sun cut doesn't do them justice i should make my own someday)
So... what about Perth?
Sometime after My Dear Loser, in 2017, Chimon was cast as the lead in Please... Siang RIak Winyan, or Please... Soul Call (I will be calling it 'Please' from here on).
Tumblr media
(i like the opening theme song its very good)
Perth was cast as a supporting character by its director New Siwaj, who had met Perth when he was auditioning for various advertisements. Perth and Chimon met for the first time during Please's workshops, but didn't talk much, if at all as their characters didn't share any scenes and Perth was (and still is) naturally very quiet, keeping to himself.
Please is 6 episodes long, and the first 4 episodes were subtitled by lovelyperthmarks on Youtube. I personally don't think the show is anything extraodinary, but definitely fun to watch if you want to see how much Perth and Chimon have grown!
And after that,
After Please, Perth and Chimon proceeded with their own projects. Perth was later cast in Love By Chance (2018) by, again, New Siwaj where his popularity kind of.... exploded...... you could say (lol). Around the same time, Chimon starred in several GMMTV series, including The Gifted (2018), one of the more well known non-BL GMMTV series.
Perth worked on a few shows, including The Stranded (2019), one of the earliest Netflix shows produced by Thai companies starring Thai actors. He was also in TEMPT, a boy band featuring multiple Love By Chance cast members that disbanded later in 2020. Perth eventually went freelance some time in 2020, starring in a few projects like his first movie Tell The World I Love You (2022), and My Coach (2022).
Similarly, Chimon worked on several GMMTV series such as He's Coming To Me (2019), The Gifted Graduation (2020), and The Player (2021). He also worked on a few non-GMMTV shows, such as Put Your Head On My Shoulder (2019) and was a main host of TV show School Rangers from 2018 to 2023 (HE'S GRADUATING!!!!!). He also vlogs on his Youtube channel occasionally, something that he says he wants to go back to if he has the time.
In 2020, they did a photoshoot together at Fantopia for... no apparent reason? I really can't think of a reason Perth would be put with them lolol. I don't have the high quality version of this but I'm sure its out there somewhere!!!
Tumblr media
(Chimon, his old BL partner, his close friend that he's been in several shows with, and his future BL partner)
At some point, Perth and Chimon became casual friends through their mutual friends Ohm and Nanon. I'm not super sure when this happened but they talk about this a bit in this interview! This clip also has a few other interesting things like how Chimon declined taking BL roles after Pluem went to do other projects, but P'Aof managed to convince him because he would be paired with Perth. Which leads me into...
Perth in GMMTV
In April 2022, Perth was announced as a new GMMTV artist. He made a guest appearance in Vice Versa (2022), but had no announced projects until GMMTV2023.
In July 2022, Perth and Chimon attended the KAZZ Awards 2022 as a duo. Perth and Chimon were also both part of Safe House Season 4: Vote (2022) where they grew to be close friends. I assume this is also when Perth was added to NLMG's cast and ChopperBen was written in. It's also possible Dangerous Romance was in early planning stages but I cannot confirm this.
At this point, Never Let Me Go had already been announced as part of the GMMTV2022 lineup. It featured Chimon as Ben, Nuengdiao's (eventual) ex boyfriend and someone else (SORRY I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHO.......) as Chopper, Nuengdiao's cousin. There was no ChopperBen romantic storyline even hinted at in the pilot trailer.
Phuwin Makes An Oopsie
On 17th September 2022, Phuwin posted this image on Twitter.
Tumblr media
See anyone familiar in the corner? That is indeed Perth Tanapon himself! At this point there was no information about NLMG and any cast change, and Pond, Phuwin and Perth decided to post this (well. Phuwin posted it but the other 2 didn't stop him) because surely no one would know. They were told to take it down but the same day, people started speculating about Perth's role in NLMG.
People had started wondering if they would be paired together in a series from KAZZ Awards and Safe House S4, and Phuwin posting Perth on the workshop of a series Chimon was already in (we will get to this later) confirmed it for everyone. Before we got NLMG's official trailer in November, however, we got...
Dangerous Romance
At GMMTV2023, which was held in November 2022 (days before NLMG's official trailer was released), the pilot trailer for Dangerous Romance was revealed and PerthChimon were confirmed as an official pairing. Perth was immediately cast as Kanghan and Chimon as Sailom soon after, since they could match eachother's acting ability well and were a good fit for the roles (I can't find the source for this it got lost in my 82374983 PC bookmarks. Here's who I think is P'Aof talking about why PC were paired though!)
Throughout this time, Perth and Chimon were in several events together, including GMMTV FanDay in Osaka and too many promotional events for me to keep track of. I might make a separate post for them someday. My personal favourite is Bookfluencer x PerthChimon, where they promoted the release of Dangerous Romance's novel.
Tumblr media
(catboys)
In April 2023, Dangerous Romance's workshops started. It lasted for 4 days
Tumblr media
Later in May 2023, KanghanSailom fitting pics were also released!
Tumblr media
(other cast member fitting pics weren't released until the official trailer aired. the fitting seems to have been in mid May!)
And soon, at the start of June 2023, Dangerous Romance officially began filming. The filming lasted until August 2023, including the music video filming (and recording!), though there was a day they had to go back to reshoot a few scenes (you can see this in the series, they have noticably different hair).
Tumblr media
(beautiful location for the end of a beautiful series!!! the whole process was tracked meticulously by thisblackyellow on twitter, you can read their thread here but please be aware of spoilers!!!!!!)
Ever since then, PerthChimon have been doing promotional events and fanmeetings. They filmed 3 episodes of vlogs, were in GMMTV Fanday 6 in Seoul as well as GMMTV Fanday 7 in Cambodia, GMMTV Fanfest 2023 in Japan, and have already been confirmed as part of LOL Fanfest 2024! And of course, the Dangerous Romance Final Ep Fanmeet taking place (checks notes) TOMORROW?!?!?!?!
So this ended up longer than I thought. Happy almost Dangerous Romance EP 12 day!!! Let's keep supporting Perth and Chimon next year too.
(and thank you to @kessthenorthface for asking me to do this <3_<3 it was really fun to put together!!!)

It’s been a rollercoaster 10 years since James Rodríguez wowed the world
Tumblr media
It's been 10 years since James Rodríguez scored *that* goal. Yes, that one. You remember it well, surely.
The setting: Brazil's historic Maracanã stadium. In the 28th minute of their Round of 16 contest against Uruguay, Colombia's Abel Aguilar lobbed a header to James, who played it off his chest and volley-kicked it into the top of his opponents' net, near the corner, well beyond a diving Fernando Muslera. In a post-match summary of the goal, the poetic British commentator Peter Drury declared, "First touch, sumptuous. Second touch, magical. That's not a left foot. That is a wand." Uruguayan defender José María Giménez could do nothing more than stand with his hands on his hips, staring at the net in disbelief.
"My word, this boy's a star!" Drury proclaimed in the moment. James did not disappoint. He added another goal that game, taking his tally to five in the tournament after just four games. He'd add another in a quarterfinal loss to Brazil. Though Colombia would bow out at that point, James would go on to win the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer and, later, the Puskas Award for the year's most beautiful goal.
But it hasn't been a bed of roses for James in the ten years since Rio. Today, on his 33rd birthday, we take a look at the rise, fall, and revival of the Colombian midfielder.
The rising star
James had been building a strong career for himself in advance of the 2014 World Cup with productive seasons at Porto (32 goals in 107 appearances; 6 trophies) followed by a high-profile move to Monaco — a 5-year contract with a €45 million transfer fee. But in a post-World Cup interview, James said the magic words: that it would be his "life's dream" to play for Real Madrid. Ten days later, and with 4 years still left on his contract, James had signed with Carlo Ancelotti's band of superstars, a roster that included the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, Kareem Benzema, and Sergio Ramos to name just a few. (Casillas, Pepe, Bale, Marcelo, Navas to name just a few more.)
Things started well at Madrid. Even amidst a team rich in talent, and despite being out for two months with injury, James contributed 17 goals in his first season. But later injuries and diminishing returns in successive seasons meant that James could no longer keep a regular place on the squad. New Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane also didn't seem to favor James' playing style, leading the Colombian to request a loan to Bayern Munich, where we would be reunited with Ancelotti.
Internationally, James was still making waves. At 25, he was named Colombia team captain for the 2016 Copa América, leading them to third place, losing only to eventual winners, Chile.
Tumblr media
Fading away
Injuries plagued James for quite some time, keeping him from action for both club and country. After such a dazzling display in 2014, James sat on the bench at the 2018 World Cup and watched as his team went out to England in penalties in the Round of 16.
Despite scoring some key goals to help Bayern Munich win two league titles and a Pokal, James had netted only 15 goals in his 67 appearances with the club, and the owners opted not to pick up the option to purchase him. With no home in Munich or Madrid, he moved to Merseyside for a short stint with Everton (again, reuniting him with Ancelotti).
But failing to impress in England, and with no other clubs willing to take him on, James found himself playing for Qatar's Al Rayyan and didn't contribute much to their mediocre season. The Qatari team let him go just one game into his second season. He moved to Greece where he again lasted only one season after poor results with Olympiacos.
And James wouldn't get to return to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup as Colombia failed to qualify, finishing three points behind Ecuador for the last guaranteed spot. How did the World Cup star fade so fast for James?
Fast forward to summer 2023: James once again finds himself in South America. He now plays for São Paolo in Brazil, 13 years after he had left Argentina's Banfield, where he began built the reputation that catapulted him to European football. A name that had once dominated discussions among pundits — that had been proclaimed as "the next great thing" — had now faded into near oblivion. People weren't talking about James Rodríguez anymore.
Tumblr media
Renaissance
After their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, James expressed uncertainty as to whether he would ever again play for his country. That may have lit a fire under the team and perhaps even under him. Something started to happen...
Colombia started to pile up the wins, or at least had avoided losing. They had racked up victories against Mexico, Germany, and Brazil, among other countries. And before you knew it, they entered Copa América 2024 on a 23-game unbeaten run.
Enter James.
The attacking midfield has been a stalwart for Colombia all tournament and has been one of the keys to their success. In Colombia's five games so far, he has netted one goal and contributed six assists, surpassing Messi's tournament assist record. He's been man of the match for four of Colombia's five games of the tournament so far.
And when Colombia face off against Messi's Argentina in Sunday's final, James will need to play a pivotal role. Will his remarkable revival culminate in extending Colombia's historic unbeaten run and winning their first Copa América since 2001?
In addition to reinvigorating this Colombia team and resurrecting his career, James may also be accomplishing something even more outlandish — he may have some neutrals paying closer attention to him and Colombia than to Messi and Argentina. Colombia has arguably been the Copa's best team. Argentina has yet to come up against substantial competition and have had two victories over Canada.
Meanwhile, Colombia have had already had to battle both Brazil and Uruguay, defeating the latter while down a player for an entire half. The talented superstars of La Albiceleste, the world's #1 ranked team for the last 18 months now, can always dazzle and can outplay any team on their best day. But we've yet to see their best at this tournament, and it's feasible Colombia's passionate, fiery play could be a game-changer.
The bookies may have already made their prediction, but Sunday's eventual outcome is anything but clear. What is clear is that James Rodríguez will have a key role to play in whatever the result.
He's hoping it's a role for the better.

My Ted Lasso Re-watch: S1E3 (part 3)
Trent Crimm - The Independent
Roy loves his niece. Only he can call her an idiot and ten dote on her completely.
Ted's celebration after he gets the header is everything to me. And Roy's look of exasperation is perfect.
Roy is surprisingly good around kids. No matter what, he compliments them on their header attempts. He knows that kids need praise, and because of the article that Trent wrote about 17 year old him, he knows how negative comments can affect someone.
Nice kick, Pheobe. Her and Roy have put in a lot of practice for her to be able to do that. I do feel bad for Ted's nose though.
Trent knows about A Wrinkle in Time because he has a young daughter and has probably read it to her at some point.
'Am I supposed to be the little girl?' ' I'd like you to be.' I love them both. This exchange was just everything.
Trent wears a blue band with daisies on his wrist. A gift from his daughter, perhaps?
Ollie from ep1 is back.
'Smell is already deep inside my brain.' Sir, you have no sense of smell. Jason has anosmia, so he can't smell the food. Too bad, because good curries smell amazing.
"I'm supposed to be getting paid?' Is that a reference to We're The Millers that got memed?
Ollie calls his father-in-law, dad. That's cute.
You can actually see the sweat forming on Ted's forehead as he's eating the spicy curry.
Ted's philosophy when it comes to coaching is that if you're going to get people to be the best on the pitch, then they need to be their best selves off it, too.
'Growing up without someone believing in you.' For Ted, his dad was probably the one who believed in him the most. And with he people he has coached, he has made himself their biggest supporter so that at least they had someone.
Trent doesn't believe that Ted means what he says about enjoying their time together. Trent is just their for a scope to potentially ruin Ted, yet walks out and begins to change his mind about him.
Roy is the best uncle. He reads his book to Pheobe, has an epiphany, and still manages to kiss her good night before leaving.
Trent writes fast because his article is previewed the same night. So he maybe typed it up in an hour or two.
Ted's style might not hit you over the head, but Roy's certainly will.
Keeley has the hots for Roy. And Roy like Keeley.
Trent doesn't gloat at the end of the season when they get relegated. He does end up becoming one of Richmond's and Ted's biggest supporters.

it’s like clockwork: coach nam always finds his way to cut some time between the hours of the day. today just so happened to be after his morning session in the gym. with a towel wrapped around his neck, he takes a huge gulp of water to stave the thirst; willing his heartbeat to steady. wishing that he had been caught at a better time. wishing that he hadn't just run a five minute mile and then thrown himself off the treadmill at the sound of his name. but the coach doesn't waste his breath, onward the questions he's been known to ask — the questions he asks each and every time jino gets seated across from him, his ipad settled in the crook of his lap with coach nam's laser-like gaze eyeing him, daring him to speak. coach nam saerom had been a notable presence in his time here at legacy, probably too much of one if jino really thought of it. not many of the other coaches really took the time to sit him down and ask him his thoughts. not when most of them were still wondering what the hell he was doing here. though jino couldn’t blame them, he didn’t really know what he was doing here either. the excuse that he had come here for jiah had long since passed — though the excitement and the fun was still there, could jino really say that he was still here to protect his sister from the dangers of a shady business? could jino really own up to his own desire and say that — ( maybe, just maybe he wanted to be here on his own terms too? ) but that was probably too much thinking for jino’s taste, so instead of answering the question that saerom always asks at the beginning of these things, jino redirects and ask saerom what he thinks he should do. and jino, like all the times before, watches saerom smile, almost fatherly ( was that insulting when saerom was probably only five or so years older than he was? ), taking an expert pause, patience brimming in his features — much unlike the exasperation another one of the coaches had shown when he had asked him this same question a few weeks prior — before running a hand against his jaw in thought. “well, the obvious choice would be to be an idol — it’s what most people come here for, but i don’t think your dancing skills are going to make the cut.” they share a laugh because what he says is true, and jino has no qualms denying it. even with his most maximum effort, all he had to show for the past year was that he didn't pull a muscle every time he had to do a box-step. it was inevitable that jino could not dance like the greats that legacy has been known to foster. ( but he could try but was he willing to?) if anything, jino had been told at the beginning — at point blank: that he was a blank canvas, one to be molded into whatever path he wished to desire. it was still true to this day, if only he took the chance to discover just what that desire could prosper to be. if not, he could leave — as simple as that. “this opportunity is what you make of it, you know that right? but we won't be waiting forever.” he was no prisoner of their's. surprisingly, he was a prisoner of his nonchalance. an indecisiveness that was unfamiliar to him, much unlike his usual resolute, held him at his wit's end. could he continue to waste their time, his time playing this game of pretend was over — shouldn't it be time for him to figure out what he wanted from legacy? at least that's what saerom thought, that's what they all thought. "you've got a face that'd be such a shame to waste." jino scoffs, "what? so you're telling me to be a model?" "why not?" saerom shrugs, "it's not like you need to dance to be a model." saerom leaves him in his thoughts, bidding the time before making a remark to leave; ready to completely submerge him in the possibilities his comments have made. it's only when saerom makes it right to the door, a foot or two away from closing it when jino speaks up: "what do i have to do to be a model?"

Tour Diary; Sixties Gold Tour 2022 Part 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 14, 30.10.22; Leeds
Not a rushed start to the day so we could all enjoy a bit of a lie in before battling the traffic and the weather up the A1(M). We stopped for lunch at a roadside diner which could be described as acceptable, in fact it could say it was Ok. Back on the road and round the neverending one way system that is Leeds town centre to get to the theatre.
The theatre itself was amazing; multiple floors and what can only be described as looking like the theatre from the Muppets. Great building!
It was a 2 show day so loading in and prepare to go on for the matinee despite the football being on the brothers waiting until the last minute to go on.
Really great and receptive Leeds crowd; was a lot of fun.
Off stage, quick change then off to a bar to watch the end of the football. Al and I just had a drink.
Post match back to the theatre for a slice of pizza then on for the second show. 2 out of 2 in terms of brilliant crowds; nice to later receive some live footage as well. It’s a been few days but once again I succumb to Jodie’s well placed bangers (this time under my wallet). Will there be retribution?
Headed to stay with more friends after load out; quick nightcap and a chat to end a busy but really fun few days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 15, 2.11.22; Eastbourne
A new month, another slow drive. Who doesn’t love being on the M25? Anyway, upon arrival in a very windy Eastbourne there were new ways explored to fill the time before we went on. Al’s partner Shivs came along and gave Chesney the full hairdressing treatment. Various other band members popped in to see if it was true and almost all questioned whether he had enough time.
More friends came along to see us so we went to the bar in the interval so them. It’s so nice to see friendly faces and to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while.
Back to the dressing (which seemed remarkably high up) and Ches was all done and looking great! So there is time for a hair appointment before showtime!
Sounded and felt really good on stage and was a great show; definitely well into the swing as we hit the halfway point.
Journey home was a bit of a struggle as we were battered by the wind and torrential rain (and flooding) but everyone got home safe. Next stop; Northern Ireland!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 16, 5.11.22; Londonderry
4:00am start to get to the airport; something about leaving the house in the dark. Actually went relatively smoothly; flight was ok and were picked up, along with a couple of the other acts and bussed to the hotel in Antrim.
A relaxing afternoon, some overpriced hotel food then bussed, along with all the other bands to the venue, an amazing old school theatre. As we had time to spare, we popped across the road for a drink and met a local couple out for their anniversary. They showed us some amazing Irish hospitality (as well as buying us too much beer) and came out with the immortal line when the wife had gone to the bathroom; “it was fookin’ shite before yous arrived”!
The gig itself was fantastic; very vocal crowd and brilliant response. Back to the hotel on the bus which appeared to have its own bar and then the poor hotel night porter had to work as a barman. Lesson learned; never go drinking with The Marmalade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 17, 6.11.22; Belfast
A slower (and later) start to the day though we did make it downstairs for breakfast (just). We were getting a taxi to the venue (as opposed to everyone going on the coach) so a whole day of relaxing / being lazy. Al and I managed to go to a local bar, The Crown, for a most excellent pint of Guinness. Packed out show; amazing old theatre where the balcony was almost right about your head.
Despite everyone’s best intentions we did have a nightcap (or 2); Chesney made sure he was the last to go to bed - coach leaving at 8:30am to take us back to the airport. Hmm.
An amazing time in Northern Ireland was had by all.

Notes:
Did Cheri truly Bench Press 190 ? That's what is posted. Since that ties her with Robert, I'm making it official by putting it in the Blog.
Miss Anna came with Baby Rufus Alan Gifford. Anna declined to join the workout, which would have been OK with R.A.G. since he was sleeping. The way a few of our ladies were acting, you'd think they want another baby.
Miss's CeCe and Faith worked out together, and were fun to watch. Faith even did a little coaching.
We also had a visit from Murphy and Millie. Although friendly at first meeting, Millie was relieved when Robert left for their walk.
Tomorrow at 0730 and 1 PM.

Actually, more voice lore, because you’ve triggered a rant.
So we have 5 coaches right, with the comeback stage coach. The lore is that we have 2 og coaches who have been there since the start. The lead singer (male) of one of the most popular Dutch sing in bands ever and the get second place in idol like 20 years ago and has a power voice (female) coach. Nothing is wrong with either of them in actually, but they are more famous, especially in the Voice as experienced coaches, and therefore they not only have a reputation, they have an advantage.
Because the female coach just won back to back seasons. And the male coach is the only person who has ever had people in his team go on to have a big career afterwards (because this man has connections). As in, the Comeback Stage coach, is an ex-candidate of his, who got second place like probably 10 years ago at this point. She was 17 and he got her a deal with his label and she got to do Eurovision and now she got the position as 5th coach behind the scenes. (And honestly, good on her because she had to work to keep that career, people can’t just give you a career if you have no talent.)
Anyway, he also had 2 finalist like 4-5 years ago (has it really been that long? Damn you covid) who also had a career. As in 1 of them started his musical career, but put it on the back burner during covid, might make a comeback after he gets his degree (because again, 17 years old) and the other is now an actor in one of our biggest soap opera’s. Again, nothing on them. It’s just now an unfortunate result, that anyone who wants to get a career out of the Voice, automatically chooses this coach. And generally that means these two titans are trading wins back and forth.
And now we have new coaches who stayed for their second year, after 2 coaches who only did 1 year then dipped. And 1 of them is like the most popular Dutch band currently, so he’s find with getting picked by people. The other coach, however, is the lead singer of a rock band (I think that’s the genre) and he only gets a specific type of singers (which is actually good, cuz it means a new group of people wants to take part in the voice and other coaches can profit too), but generally puts at a disadvantage. And it’s a nice man, so the fact the he has now been cheated out of 3 really good singers upsets me. Especially, when every single year the same coaches get all the good people. Tbf, I always get kinda done with the Live Shows because then it becomes a popularity contest which heavily reflects on which them you are in and it’s way less about the singing (also they can no longer auto tune the shit out of everything).
Anyway, as compensation for my rant, you now also get fun facts. When actually have 2 Voices because television production is split based one language (and boy how I wish we had at least once shared tv house, but that’s a rant for another day). So when have the Voice of Flanders, which is the one I watch, cuz my native langue is Dutch. And then there’s the Voice Belgique, which is the French version.
Also, since the Voice was invented in the Netherlands, I think we might just be ahead on rules and concepts? Like they start here and then spread? Though maybe the Cross Battles are stole from somewhere else? Also, we don’t have a skip feature, they have to do everything. I think that one comes from America’s Got Talent.
-🌲
IT WAS INVENTED IN THE NETHERLANDS THATS SO COOL!!!! I didn't know that omg :0
Ooohh yeah it is true, lives are def popularity over actual talent which is annoying 😭😭😭 but hey ig that's part of being a "star" u gotta be good w ppl to get connections n stuff
But oh man yeah that sounds frustrating:(
That's crazy interesting tho omg :0

Harry Styles x SFU | X-Factor
Tumblr media
Fluff :)
Trope inspired by satanhalsey
Anne was the first to kiss Harry’s cheek, soon followed by Will, who shoved him back to smack his lips against his curls. Then you took the few seconds left to kiss Harry’s other cheek before Dermot laughed and rushed Harry on stage. The crowd welcomed your boyfriend with open arms as he tried his best to keep the warm smile on his face. He wanted people to like him so desperately, but he was determined to follow what you had told him prior to coming here. “Don’t change yourself for the pleasure of others.”
“Hello,” Harry said bluntly into the microphone.
“Nice to meet you. What’s your name?” Simon Cowell asked.
“Erm, I’m Harry Styles,” Harry answered.
“Okay, Harry, how old are you?” The questioning continued as the crowd cheered.
“Erm, I’m 16.”
“Okay, so tell me a bit about you?”
“Erm… I work in a bakery,” Harry stated, and you laughed at the randomness of his fact.
“So Harry, you left school to work there, yeah?”
“I work there on Saturdays. But I finished my GCEs just now, so I’m going back to college in September,” he explained.
“And what are you going to study at college?”
“Erm… law, sociology, erm… business, and somethin’ else, but I’m not sure yet.”
“Wow. So what are you doing here?” Simon asked.
“Erm, well, I’ve always wanted to audition, but I’ve always been too young,” you smiled at Harry’s words. He sounded so innocent and wholesome.
“Alright, what are you going to sing?”
“I’ll do Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder,” the crowd cheered as Harry took a deep breath. You glanced over at Anne and nodded your head as you held her hand. When he began, you couldn’t help the widest smile spreading across your face. You bit your bottom lip to contain yourself from screaming in joy as you watched your wonderful boy sing his heart out through the tv screen. He sounded amazing as if his voice had been sent down from the gods, and you always knew that but hearing him perform in front of hundreds of thousands of people made it so much clearer. It wasn’t in the isolation of his room where he sang to you quietly as you fell asleep at sleepovers or even during his band practice. He was showing off his talent to the world, and you couldn’t be prouder.
When he finished, he took a little bow, and his friends and family all erupted into cheers of encouragement. “Erm Nicole, what did you think?” Simon asked.
“I’m really glad that we had the opportunity to hear you Accapella because we could really hear how great your voice is. For 16-years-old you have a beautiful voice,” Nicole said warmly.
“Thank you,” Harry said, a smile growing on his face and showing the dimples you loved.
“I agree with Nicole. However, I think you’re so young, and I don’t think you have enough experience or confidence yet,” Louis degraded, and Harry nodded, his face falling immediately, and you swore in your head towards Louis. The crowd seemed to agree as they made noises of protest and groaning.
“Okay.”
“Erm, yes, someone in the audience just said rubbish, and I totally agree with them,” Simon sassed, and everyone roared. “Ah, because you know the show is designed to find someone at you whether they be 15, 16, 17, it doesn’t matter. I think with a bit of vocal coaching, you could actually be very good,” he finished.
“Thank you,” Harry excepted humbly, and you clapped madly. You loved seeing the goofy grin back on his face.
“Okay, Louis…”
“Harry for all the right reasons… I am going to say no. Because I don’t think you’re ready,” Louis frowned.
“No!” You and Anne protested, and Robin shook his head. The crowd booed.
“I actually don’t think they booed you loud enough there,” Simon provoked, and Louis chuckled while the crowd grew louder.
“Boo,” Harry mumbled into the microphone, and you giggled.
“Nicole…”
“I like you, Harry. I’m gonna say yes,” Nicole exclaimed.
“Thank you.”
“And you’ll be happy to hear that I’m going to be agreeing with Nicole,” Simon said, and Harry smiled.
“Thank you!” Harry rushed off stage and down the stairs into your embrace. He picked you up a touch off the ground and laughed boomingly. He set you down and kissed your forehead before hugging Anne and the rest.
***
The past few days, you have been staying at a nearby hotel with Harry and his parents to help support him through Bootcamp. He had survived the first two days, although there were no eliminations until the third. He would come back to the room in a ball of excitement and would gush to you about the experience there. The only negatives you heard was the slight stress put on him and the fact that they had to dance. Harry really did not like dancing.
But on the third day, it was the last of singing performances then eliminations. Harry had already sung beautifully, although you wouldn’t be able to see it until it was possibly aired. But right now, you were sitting backstage with Harry as he waited for the judges to make up their decisions as to who is going home and who’s staying.
“Haz,” you whispered, but Harry continued to focus purely on the movement of his tapping foot. “Harry,” you placed your hand on his knee, and he looked up at you. You smiled, which he returned anxiously.
“You’ll be fine,” you lied. You didn’t know if he was going to be fine or not. Yes, he was amazing, and you believed he could make it, but the judges had a different mind and opinion than you. What you thought didn’t matter to them. But you couldn’t face telling Harry that he might not make it to the top 10.
They started calling off the groups, and one by one, crushed and crying individuals of all ages were leaving the building heartbroken. Harry grew tense every time someone that was eliminated walked by. “All the boys, come on! All the boys to the stage!” A crew member called over a megaphone, and Harry stood up sharply. You hugged him quickly before sending him on where the boys formed a line.
You watched the tv with Anne and Robin behind you. “The first through to the judges' houses is ….” Simon trailed off and read off a piece of paper. “John Wilding.” You grit your teeth.
“Nicolo Festa.”
“Paije Richardson.”
“Aiden Grimshaw.”
“Marlen McKenzie.”
“Carl Brown.”
“Matt Cardle.”
Tears grew in your eyes as Anne squeezed your shoulder. You saw Harry’s reaction every time another boy was picked instead of him, and it broke your heart. By the time the ninth person left, his face was in his hands as his body tried not to shake.
“The final contestant who’s made it through….” Harry straightened up, no sign of weakness showing on his face. Although you could see right through him. “Tom Richards.”
The eliminated boys clapped as tears streamed down your cheeks, and you covered your face. You couldn’t bear to see Harry’s face. “That’s it, guys. I’m really, really sorry,” Simon said monotonously. You uncovered your face as the boys exited the stage.
The minute you saw Harry’s green shirt and grey beanie, you ran to him. He dug his face into your shoulder as he began to cry, and you couldn’t do anything but take his beanie off and run your hand through his hair to comfort him. A sob escaped his lips as Anne and Robin joined you two.
It had been over an hour, and Anne and Robin had sadly given up on trying to calm Harry down, but you were doing a pretty good job at it. He at least stopped crying and would look you in the eye when you asked him to. Anne had previously come up to you two to announce they would leave soon.
And you two were collecting your things when a crew member emerged from the stage. “May I have all the rejected boys come by me, please! All eliminated boys!” He yelled, and the boys slowly started to crowd around him. Harry hesitantly joined them.
“I need the following to come on stage. The judges would like to speak with you,” he said. “Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.” Harry hid his face again as he held back a cry and followed the crew on stage. You held your breath as you stared at the tv.
“They just want some good television of a group of boys, and we’re all gonna be cryin’,” you heard Harry mutter to Zayn, who sighed.
Both of the groups, one of the boys and the other girls, appeared on stage, and Nicole lifted the microphone to her lips. “Hello.”
“Hi,” everyone replied weakly.
“Thank you so much for coming back. I know that judging from some of your faces that this is really hard. We thought long and hard about it, and we thought of each of you as individuals… and we just feel that you’re too talented to let go of,” she began, and your jaw dropped. “We think it’ll be a great idea to have two separate groups.”
“We’ve decided to put you both through to the judges’ houses,” Simon clarified, and you screamed along with the girls on stage. The four guys from Harry's new group yelled in celebration while Harry fell to his knees. The boy you remember as Niall patted him on the back before lurching him up and bringing the boys into a group hug.
“Guys, girls, this is a lifeline. You have got to work 10, 12, 14 hours a day every single day and take this opportunity. You’ve got a real shot here, guys,” everyone clapped as the two groups rushed off stage. When he got down the stairs, Harry's first thing was to break off from the rest of the boys and find you. He ran so fast that when he engulfed you in an embrace, you two almost toppled over.
He didn’t even think or hesitate to bring your lips together. You broke it and kissed his face all over. “I knew you wouldn’t go that easily,” you whispered, and he smiled, capturing you in another kiss.
***
It had been a few weeks, and Harry had left for Spain with the boy band he had given the name “One Direction.” He was going to Simon Cowell’s house and had been practicing for the past weeks. You had to return to Holmes Chapel and your family, but you called, and video chatted Harry regularly. You met the other boys through video chat, and they seemed really nice. Harry kept you updated on how rehearsal was going and all the drama going around. Louis had gotten stung by a sea urchin, and they were going to Simon’s house in a few days.
When the day finally came, you wished Harry good luck before he went. You didn’t get a reply back until he called you and screamed in your ear through frantic sobs of joy that the band had gotten through. When you later saw the aired episode, you screamed along with them even if you knew what happened.
And now you were at their first live show back in London. You watched the video diaries and behind the scenes, and Harry seemed the happiest he’s ever been. You enjoyed watching him succeed.
When the song started, and you heard the group singing, you couldn’t contain yourself and jumped up in your seat. You loved them together, and so did everyone else, and you were sad when the song ended. You watched the rest of the acts and waited a painfully long time until they finally began announcing the contestants going through to the next show.
But once it got down to the ninth act and Dermot spaced each other out individually, you began shouting with the crowd. One Direction still hadn’t gotten picked yet, and you grew louder and more anxious, every number higher.
“The twelfth act through to next week’s show is….”
“Come on!” You shouted, holding your fists to your temples as you stared at Harry, who stood next to the other boys and Simon.
It felt like an eternity until Dermot finally said something. “One Direction!” You screeched as the boys jumped up and down on stage.
“Yes!”
***
Harry and One Direction had been doing fantastic. They had made it through to the finals. Tonight was their performance, and you had met Harry backstage before the show started. When he saw you, he broke away from his bandmates, who were all confused, and hugged you so tight you almost stopped breathing.
“I missed you,” he said after a short kiss.
“I missed you too, Haz. Although we did see each other a few days ago, and I called you earlier this morning,” you teased.
“It’s still a while,” he wrapped you in his arms as someone cleared their throat behind you.
You two turned around and saw the boys standing there. They brought you into a group hug as they welcomed you. “You excited to see our performance tonight?” Liam asked, and you nodded.
“Yes, you guys are going to be amazing per usual,” they all smiled with pink cheeks.
“Thanks, Y/N,” Niall was the first to speak up.
“Of course, now I’ve got to get going, but I’ll see you after the show, alright?” You told Harry, who nodded and pecked your lips as he fought to let you leave.
***
“The public have voted, and I’m about to reveal which two acts have received the most votes and will compete head to head for the X-Factor title and which act has received the fewest votes, finished 3rd, and will be leaving the competition tonight. Good luck to everyone,” Dermot announced, and you crossed your fingers.
“In no particular order, the first act through to the next stage of the final is… Matt!”
You clapped for Matt as your mind flooded with emotions you tried to suppress. They had to make it through. He had to make it through. You didn’t know if you could repair him if he got eliminated.
“So… One Direction and Rebecca. One of you has made it into the top two, and one of you has received the fewest votes from the public and is out of the competition. This is it. The second act still in the final is….”
Please. You begged and pleaded and basically whept that they would make it. Please.
“Rebecca!”
You let out a breath of defeat as you put your face in your hands. “No,” you whispered.
They dragged the boys away from saying congratulations to Rebecca and showed them highlights of their X-Factor journey. Once it was done, you were left to face the sad faces of five hopeless teenage boys. “Boys, I can see by your faces that you’re absolutely gutted, but how has this experience been for you? What have been the highlights?”
“It’s been absolutely incredible for me. The highlight was when we first sang together at the judges’ houses that was unbelievable. And you know we’ve done our best we’ve worked so hard,” Louis rushed out with a shrug.
“Zayn, what’s going to happen to One Direction now?”
“Erm, we’re definitely gonna stay together. This isn’t the last of One Direction.”

10 Times Yuzuru Hanyu Was Inspiring
Yuzuru Hanyu (26 years old) is a Japanese figure skater. He is a two-time Olympic champion, two- time World champion, Four Continent champion, four times Grand Prix Final champion and five times national champion. He is the only male skater that has achieved a grand slam (won all major competitions in both junior and senior circus). In 2018, he won the People's Honor Award given by the Japanese Prime Minister and became the youngest recipient of this award. He also won the award of the most valuable skater at the International Skating Union Awards for the season 2019-2020. Since his debut in the senior circus in 2011-2012 and until now, Yuzuru's performances have always made a great impact on the audience; allowing him to have the biggest fan base ever in the history of figure skating. His fans are not only from Japan but from all around the world; including other skaters and coaches. The reason behind all of this love is that Yuzuru touches the hearts by performing like an artist, hitting every note, being super passionate about what he does and combining a competitive spirit with a sport soul. On top of all of that, he has an ability to inspire people. His road has never been easy. It is full of injuries, surgeries, illnesses, strong competitors, mistakes and losses. However, he always perserves, pushes through his limits, overcomes adversity and rises in an inspiring way.
Here are the ten times Yuzuru Hanyu was an icon of inspiration:
1- Winning his first medal in the World Championship in 2012 despite having an injury and low stamina.
In his debut in the World championship (senior circus) in 2012, Yuzuru (17) sprained his right ankle during the official practice the day before the short program. His foot swelled up but he decided not to withdraw, taking into account all the effort he has made for this competition and all the people who came here for him (coach, mom and officials). He went ahead and competed. He was ranked seventh in the short program, third in the free program and third overall, winning the bronze medal.
Yuzuru commented on that competition in his autobiography book "Aoi Hono ll":
"Because I was injured the day before the short, I felt that even in that kind of situation 'I landed my quad, I did well’. I felt that I had worked really hard by myself. However, my mother told me, "That is wrong.” Getting injured was my own fault, but there were many people who helped and supported me. That is the reason why I could come to this point. Until about 9 o'clock that night, we were talking about this while having dinner, and in the end, I realized that my thinking was wrong."
Yuzuru was about to get full of himself and let arrogance take over him. However, his mother helped him stay grounded. Thus, he was able to face the free program with a humble attitude. He put out a passionate performance that many people still remember until this day and consider as one of their favorites. During that performance, he tried not to put a lot of pressure on the injured foot so he shifted all the pressure on the other one until it got exhausted and gave up on him. As a result, he fell all of a sudden in the middle of the performance, but he managed to get up right away and perform a great jump right after.
In his autobiography book that was mentioned earlier, Yuzuru talked about this fall and said: "Later, when I watched the videos, I saw that the fall did not take up much time. I was standing up again quickly. But to me, it felt like a long time. When I fell, the feeling was like flying mid-air. Like this (he re-enacts the fall in slow motion), 'ahh, I am stumbling~~’ (laughs). After the fall, I was thinking 'what should I do from here’, many thoughts circled around. Thinking that I won’t make it in time for the next axel jump, I shortened the path by going straight instead of curved. I can jump even a 3A+3A (in practice), so I thought I will be alright. (laughs)”.
One of the most exciting moments during the performance is when Yuzuru shouted out aloud before the choreographic sequence. The shout seemed like a great expression of the emotions of his character (Romeo). It made him look like he was totally into character. However, he clarified that it was unintentional. He said: "I felt like I couldn’t breathe, so I thought, for now just let the breath out. (laughs)"
Yuzuru is known to be suffering from asthma and because of it he had a low stamina at the time. However, even after finding out that the shout wasn't done to express the character's emotions, viewers still find it impactful because it is a genuine expression of Yuzuru's fight against his limits.
That night, Yuzuru made a name for himself internationally. He shed tears of happiness after getting his scores and so did his coach. He also got praised by the winner that night who said: "the one shining the most is Yuzuru".
2-  Breaking a World Record and winning gold in his first participation in the winter Olympic Games.
At the age of 19, Yuzuru participated for the first time in the Olympic Games. Young male skaters like him who participate for the first time usually don't dare to dream about winning. The big scale of the competition gets athletes nervous and shaken, even the great and experienced ones of them. Therefore, the young newcomers usually consider their first participation as an experience to have under their belt while preparing for the next Olympic. However, Yuzuru was determind to win. His choreographer at the time, David Wilson, talked about his intense determination in an interview: "he wrote me an email letter that was so touching. He was like please help me do this because I'm ready. I'll do anything. I will die. I'll do anything to be the Olympic Champion. I don't want to wait until 2018. I want it now and I'll do anything. I'm willing to die for it. Anything you tell me, I'll do it but help me."
David Wilson talking about Yuzuru's determination to win the 2014 Olympics
Yuzuru performed a marvelous short program and came out of the rink saying: "I did it!" to which his coach replied: "you certainly did". He broke the world record in his first participation at the Olympics despite his young age. He did get nervous and made mistakes at the free program. However, what he did in the short program was enough to bring him the gold medal and make him achieve his childhood dream.
Yuzuru (11) saying that his dream is to win the Olympics
Yuzuru performing his short program at the 2014 Olympics:
Other Skaters reacting to Yuzuru's World Record at the Olympics:
The moment when Yuzuru finds out he won the  2014 Olympics:
3- Continuing to compete after a pretty bad collusion with another skater during Cup of China 2014:
In 2014, Yuzuru took part in Cup of China, which is one of the events of the Grand Prix Series. Yuzuru was in second place after the short program and during the 6 minuets warm up before the long program he had an accident. He collided with the Chinese skater Han Yan. They were looking at opposite sides and couldn't see each other until it was too late.
Yuzuru talked about the incident in his autobiography book and said: "My stomach hit the ice (when I fell) and so it felt like I received a body blow. My stomach was hurting so much; I could not breathe nor get up. Then, when I tried standing up, my chin was hurting and bleeding. My head was panicking and I didn’t know exactly where all the pain was coming from."
After a few minutes, Yuzuru stood up on his own despite the arrival of medical helpers. He preferred to exit the rink on his own instead of being carried. Backstage, he was examined and given first aid by American doctors.
The Collusion incident at CoC 2014:
In his biography book, Yuzuru gave some details about what happened backstage after the incident:
"I really gave a lot of trouble to the people around me. They told me ‘Don’t compete’. The doctors also said, 'It is not a concussion, so it is possible to skate but we do not recommend it.’Coach Orser also said, 'Now you don’t need to be a hero. You still have more after this, you still can do a lot as a skater.’But 'it has nothing to do with that. I will skate because I want to go to GP Final.’ I think I might have said that to him in Japanese. I wanted to go to the Final somehow. Here, 5th or 4th place is good enough, I can get 1st place in the next competition, so for now I just want to remain connected. If I compete at GPF, I definitely want to have a second consecutive victory. I also want to win the triple crown again (Worlds, GPF, Nationals). I had those kind of thoughts. Now when I look back I think, 'ah I skated well’."
Yuzuru decided to skate his free program and the people around him respected his decision and allowed him to go. He made sure to meet Han Yan before competing again and they exchanged apologies. After that, Yuzuru showed up in the rink with a bandage on his head and a small band on his chin. He skated his free program bravely after making some changes on the layout to adjust to his condition. He fell on five jumps but did full rotations and got grades for that. He also was able to land some jumps in the latter half of the program, which got him extra points. After the performance, his coach Orser was worried about his feelings if he gets a bad score for falling five times so he was preparing him mentally by saying stuff like: "scores don't matter. What matter is what you did out there" but it turned out Orser had nothing to worry about as Yuzuru received a high score. Yuzuru was so surprised and relieved when he saw his score and he burst into tears after holding on for a long time. He won the silver medal in that event.
Yuzuru performing his free program and receiving his score at CoC 2014:
After the competition, American doctors prepared the massage room to do stitches for Yuzuru. He received 7 stitches on his chin with anesthetics and 3 staples on his head without any anesthetics, which was really painful to him! The next day, he traveled to Japan for a medical examination in a trip that he described as hell. The result of the examination was "head contusion (or bruise), chin contusion, abdominal contusion, left thigh contusion and right ankle sprain’.
For ten days, Yuzuru was unable to walk and the recovery took more time than expected. Every time he finds himself able to walk, he would go to the rink, but once he steps his foot into the rink the pain comes back. He thought that he would never be able to skate again, felt so depressed and wanted to quit skating all together. However, his mother told him "how about just giving it a try anyway? If you skate just a little on the ice every day with the intention of rehabilitation, the situation may change for the better" her response surprised him because she never tried to stop him from quitting in the past whenever he said he wanted to quit. With that new attitude of his mother, Yuzuru became optimistic about being able to skate again, and found the willpower to try and even aim to win at the next competition of the Grand Prix Series, which was NHK.
At NHK, Unfortunately, Yuzuru wasn't able to present great performances and once he finished his free program he thought to himself: "ah, the final is gone!" he thought that all his efforts in Cup of China were for nothing, but luckily, the total of his points combined from the two competitions made him the last qualified skater for the final. Thus, he was able to take part in the final, presented great performnces and won the gold medal after all the struggles he went through.
4- Winning at Nationals 2014 despite bleeding and needing a surgery:
After the short program at the Grand Prix Final, Yuzuru felt some kind of pain in his stomach whenever he stretched or pressed on it. He thought that it must be a damage in the muscle tissue but after the free program, he found something that looks like a Ping Pong ball sticking out beneath his navel. It was so painful to the extent that he couldn't sleep on his flight back to Japan. When he landed, he went to the hospital right away and was told that he might have Urachal Remnant Disorder. He was given some antibiotic and sent home because his condition wasn't bad. However, once he returned home, and got into the shower, his navel burst and started bleeding. He went back to the hospital and it was confirmed that he has Urachal Remnant. He needed to undergo a surgery but he couldn't afford to have it any time soon because the Japanese national competition (All Japan) was a few weeks away. He was determined to attend it so he decided to bear with the pain and delay the surgery. Without telling anybody about his problem, he attended his trainings after wrapping himself with gauze to prevent blood from staining his clothes. That didn't work out well and blood still got to his clothes so when it was time for the competition, he was worried that his costume might get stained. To prevent that from happening, he put a strong tape on top of the gauze, which was painful, but did the job. In this condition, Yuzuru took part in the Japanese national competition, and despite a few mistakes in both of his programs, his endurance of pain didn't go in vain, and he actually won.
Yuzuru commented about this situation in his book by saying: "It was painful to bend forward and backward, but I tried to do whatever I could in that situation. I even did the Ina bauer, but I could not arch back at all. In fact, I also intended to do the biellmann spin! However, when I started the spin, I changed it into an A-line"
Yuzuru performing his free program and putting his hand on his stomach while leaving the ice during All Japan 2014:
5-  Rising from fifth place to first in the World Championships 2017:
At the World Championship in 2017, Yuzuru made some mistakes in the short program that left him sitting in fifth place behind his rivals. The gap between him and the first place was around 11 points. He was so disappointed in himself but didn't give up. He wanted to go practice harder. However, his coaches stopped him from overworking himself and made sure that he takes a good rest and goes through a normal practice. After that, he collected himself, focused, stayed calm and presented one of the greatest performances ever. It was flawless and magnificent. His coach Brian Orser said that he felt privileged to have witnessed this performance. Yuzuru got a very high score that made him scream and left him on the verge of shedding happy tears. His coach Brian Orser was speechless while his other coach Tracy Wilson had her mouth wide open in astonishment. With that, Yuzuru was able to rise from fifth place to first and win the championship.
Yuzuru performing his free program and receiving his score at the WC 2017:
6- Winning the second Olympic title right after being away from the ice for 3 months due to a severe injury:
Before the beginning of the Olympic season, Yuzuru was done with his preparation very early and was all ready to compete. His coach Brian Orser couldn't believe how smoothly things were going and felt a little uneasy about the fact that Yuzuru was ready very early. His worry wasn't pointless because soon enough Yuzuru sustained a severe injury. It happened during the official practice before NHK. Yuzuru was practicing (4Lutz) which was a new jump he has been practicing that season. He landed the jump in a wrong way causing ligament damage to his right ankle. The injury forced him out of competition for the rest of the season.
Yuzuru's fall and injury at NHK 2017:
Yuzuru disappeared and was away from the ice for three months. During that time, he didn't make any T.V appearances or interviews. Thus, nobody knew anything about him and his condition. His participation in the Olympics and the mere ability to perform again became uncertain. A lot of people doubted he would be able to comeback. However, he showed up at Incheon Airport in South Korea surrounded by guards and declared that he was ready to compete and that he believes he has the potential to win more than any other skater. After that, he avoided talking to the press until the end of the competition.
Yuzuru's arrival at Incheon Airport to participate at the 2018 Olympics:
According to his coach, Brian Orser, Yuzuru returned to the ice only six weeks before the Olympics and had to relearn everything and take baby steps to be able to perform again. He was practicing strokes, single and double jumps while watching his training mate and rival, Javier Fernandez, do a full run through of his programs with triples and quads. Yuzuru was able to land triples only three weeks before the Olympics and started landing quads just two weeks before the Olympics.
During the official open practice before the competition, Yuzuru made sure not to reveal his abilities and current condition nor his planned layout. He simply did some strokes and single jumps then left the rink. He chose his layout after studying his rivals and calculating how many points he would potentially need to win. He did his calculations on an app that he developed as part of his studies at the university.
In the short program segment, Yuzuru put out a great performance that was so close to the world record (which he holds). He won first place at this segment. Seeing the results, he felt relieved and assured so he allowed himself to reduce the difficulty of his free program. He was one-step away from winning the Olympics again. He needed to put out another great performance during the free program, and fortunately, that's exactly what he did. He performed a memorable free program filled with emotions, and once he finished, he screamed: "I won. I won!" which was true! He became the first skater to win the Olympics consecutively in 66 years.
Yuzuru's free program at the 2018 Olympics:
The moment that Yuzuru is announced as the winner of the 2018 Olympics:
7- Receiving the gold medal on crutches during Rostelecom Cup 2018:
After winning the Olympics, Yuzuru decided to pay tribute to his role models in figure skating; the Russian legend Evgeny Plushenko and the American Johnny Weir. He chose one of Plushenko's programs as his free program and one of Weir's as his short. He adapted the programs to his own style but still kept some touches from the original ones. Since it was a tribute, he decided to perform his free program in the hometown of his Russian idol and in front of his people. That is why he chose to participate in Rostelecom Cup, which is one of the events of the Grand Prix Series, and is held in Russia. He performed a great short program and everything was going well until he injured his right foot again during the practice before the free program. He was advised to withdraw. However, he absolutely wanted to perform his tribute to the Russian legend, Plushenko, in Russia. He has prepared a lot for this performance and came all the way to Russia to do it so he didn't want all of that to be pointless. He decided to take strong painkillers and perform his free program. He lowered the difficulty of the program and then presented a great performance in front of the Russian crowd that brought him the gold medal. After the performance, he started moving on crutches and admitted that without the painkillers, he wouldn't have been able to skate. He received the gold medal that night on crutches with fans cheering for him and holding up signs that says: "Yuzu we love you from all over the world".
Yuzuru receiving the gold medal on crutches at Rostelecom 2018:
8- Conquering his fears during the season of 2019-2020:
Yuzuru has suffered from a lot of injuries throughout his career. More than once, he thought that he is facing the end of his career because of an injury. Therefore, his main goal during the season of 2019-2020 was to finish the season without injuries. He finished his first two competitions safely and arrived at Japan to participate in NHK, which was his second Grand Prix assignment. Many of his injuries happened in his second GP event and he was conscious about this fact. He was afraid of getting hurt again and was visibly shaking before the beginning of his free program. As a result of his nervousness he missed a combination. However, he pulled himself together and improvised a new combination to recover the points he missed. He thought of the new combination, calculated its points and made sure that it's not repeated all while performing amazingly. Once he came out of the rink, his coach Ghislain gave him a hug and said: "You know what? You conquered your fear!".
Yuzuru shaking before performing his free program at NHK 2019 + full performance:
Yuzuru continued to overcome his fears in the final of the Grand Prix. He was setting in second place after the short program and the gap of points between him and his rival was big. He felt that winning may not be possible this time; nonetheless, he still wanted to do his best and give a respectable performance. He decided to raise the number of quad jumps in his program to five for the first time ever in his career. In addition, he declared that he will bring back the quad Lutz, which is the jump that caused his injury before the 2018 Olympics. It's a jump that he never dared to perform again in competitions since that incident. However, he overcame his fear and performed a flawless quad Lutz during the free program with four other quad jumps in the GPF, challenging not only his fear, but also his stamina that has always been an obstacle for him. He did not win the gold medal, but won his own fight against his fears and limits as well as the hearts and respect of the audience.

9- Winning the bronze medal in the World Championship 2021 despite an asthma attack and many other hurdles.
During the 2020-2021 season, the whole world was going through struggles because of Corona Virus and Yuzuru was no exception. He had to train on his own in Japan all year long away from his coaches and physical therapist in Canada. He prepared new programs for the season with his choreographers by receiving videos and training accordingly without any supervision. During the season, his hometown was struck by an earthquake twice. The last struck happened right before he traveled to Stockholm to participate in the WC. According to him, the inside of his home was a mess and he couldn't use the train to go to Tokyo and board the plane as planned. As a result, he arrived to Stockholm one day later than planned, thus, he had to change his training plans as well. However, his coach Brian Oreser said that Yuzuru is not the type of athlete who gets phased by such problems and he was right. Yuzuru did perfect run through of his programs during his official practices. He also performed his lively short program very well and won the small gold medal of the segment.
Yuzuru performing his short program at WC 2021:
Yuzuru was all set to win the World Championship for the third time, but something unexpected happened before the free program. He was supposed to start warming up one hour prior the turn of his group (the last group), but he was nowhere to be seen at the venue until it was almost time for the last group to compete. His coach Brian Orser said that he was worried and didn't know where Yuzuru was. He asked the head of the Japanese team but they simply told him: "He is somewhere else". Brian kept on going back and forth between the rink where two of his students were competing and the warm up area where Yuzuru was supposed to be, but Yuzuru did not show up. After Brian's students finished their turn, it was almost time for Yuzuru's group so Brian went to the locker room to see if Yuzuru was there. Usually, Yuzuru would put his skating boots in the locker room before the six-minuets warm up of his group and Brian would come to carry his tissue box, and then they would head to the rink together. However, Brian didn't find Yuzuru in the locker room. Yuzuru was caught on camera sitting on a chair at the warm up area, resting his head on the wall and looking exhausted while taking off his mask impatiently. At that time, the announcement of Keegan Messing's score from the group before the last one, could be heard in the background.
Yuzuru at the warm up area before skating his free program at the WC 2021:
When Brian finally found Yuzuru at the warm up area, he said that he knew something must have happened to him but he didn't ask him about it. Instead, he tried to encourage him by saying energetically: "Let's go!"
Yuzuru showed up at the rink without styling his hair unlike the norm. He made a lot of mistakes in the first part of his free program as if he was not the same person who did a perfect run through one day ago. He said that he suddenly couldn't find his balance but he did try his best. He explained that with every mistake, he tried to at least not fall. Later on, the Russian media reported that the Russian doctor who was accompanying their team at the competition said that Yuzuru has had an asthma attack right before coming to the venue and has asked for his help. Yuzuru never talked to the media about what happened before the free program and why he was late. When he was asked about his asthma he only admitted to feeling a little asthmatic after the free program. Despite all of that, Yuzuru managed to win the bronze medal and contribute in securing three spots to team Japan at the Olympics.
The mystery of what happened to Yuzuru before the free program would have stayed unsolved if it wasn't for the Russian doctor. The reason is that Yuzuru doesn't like to make excuses for himself. He once said in an old interview that he used to make a lot of excuses for himself when he was young but then he realized that real strong skaters don't do that and that he wouldn't learn anything if he keeps on making excuses. He took the renowned Japanese skater Mao Asada as an example when she competed with a bone fracture without uttering a word about it. That must be the reason why he never takes his asthma as an excuse or talks about it.
10- Achieving his childhood dreams one by one:
Since ever Yuzuru was young he declared that he wants to be the Olympic champion and he wants to land a quad Axel. He went on to achieve his Olympic dream in 2014; making history by being the first Japanese male skater to win an Olympic gold medal ever. However, he said that it’s not over yet because the plan in his head is to win the Olympics twice. He kept on improving himself and walking towards his dream while making a lot of sacrifices and overcoming injuries. At the end, he achieved his dream and made history once again by being the first skater in 66 years to win the gold medal at the Olympics consecutively. He then made a statement saying that he feels happy and that this happiness is what he gets in return to the sacrifices he made. After that, he said that he feels freed from the pressure of having to produce results. Thus, he announced that he is going to skate for himself from then on. It was time for him to start focusing on the other dream of his childhood which was the quad Axel. He made it clear that landing it in a competition is his next goal and didn’t allow himself to get swayed by what others are doing or what competitions he is losing. He stayed focused on his goal and is reported to be getting closer to achieving it.
Yuzuru's path has never been covered with flowers. It was hard and painful most of the time but yuzuru always turns the pain into success and fulfillment with his perseverance, becoming an icon of inspiration to many people. We wish him a lot of happiness and success in the future.

Hello, once again!
In case you missed the memo, last June, we banded together with a few of our members and wrote them a challenge that states:
Pick a movie; any movie. It could be your favourite or one you think deserves better. Doesn’t have to be Hollywood; it can be an international film or in a different language altogether. Just pick one and make it Shyan. Basically, take your chosen movie, mix in fandom and run with it!
You can stick as close or as far as you like, you can use it as a sort of prompt, or if you decide that you love the storyline but you think it needs more queer drama or more comedy, or a side-story needs more flushing out. You are free to use the movie as you see fit.
Well, now we’re all about to reap the prolific results! Over the course of the next few months, we will be periodically releasing a “trailer” to let you know what film fic is about to come your way.
A list of films we have in the works include such titles as Notting Hill, Call Me By Your Name, While You Were Sleeping, The Brothers Bloom, and a few more!
Second of the season is
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Film Synopsis: A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the ranch
Title: Psalms 17:2-5
Rating: E
Excerpt:
McElroy rolls his eyes and coughs. “Go to hell, Ryan Bergara,” he spits out.
Ryan simply smiles as he trots around the coach. He gives it an appreciative whistle.
“Look at all this,” he says. “This time you went all out, didn’t you Byron?” He comes back to stand beside McElroy. “Though, think about this: it would’ve been cheaper to just have let me rob everything.”
McElroy presses his hand against his stomach, breathing heavily. He’s in pain, clearly, but Ryan’s sure he’s not responding just to bother him. He gets down from his horse, and comes to stand before McElroy.
“If you’re to kill me, do it now, once and for all,” McElroy rasps out.
“I won’t do that. Not like this.”
Aria looks at him then, awaiting orders.
“It won’t change anything, letting me live.” McElroy finally deins to look up at Ryan. “I’ll go after you.”
Ryan grins at him. “You’d disappoint me if you didn’t.”
“Ready!” one of his men yells.
“Cover yourselves!” another warns.
Ryan comes to crouch down behind a bush, and only blinks when the iron door of the coach is blasted open. One of his men, Brent, crawls inside and shoots the lock open, hitting it with his gun to make it finally break free. He reaches to pull a chest out of the holding cell, stepping over the body of a gunman.
Brent comes out and drops it out for everyone to see. Ryan comes to stand nearby, and watches as his men work to get it open. Once it is, they’re all greeted with the sight of money, money, money. They all cheer as they start putting it into bags, forming a line from the chest to the horses. Ryan smiles as they work.
Shane and his girls quietly trot over to a clearing overlooking the valley. There, they can see their cattle, but they can also see the disaster of the gunfight. The upturned coach, the dead bodies strewn about.
They’re clearly stealing from that coach, loading their saddlebags with what they looted. Once everything seems one and done, however, a man comes out from the coach, and grabs one of the thieves, aiming a gun to his head.
“Everyone back away!” he yells, his voice ringing throughout the canyon.
The thieves silence, all ready to shoot him, but their leader holds them off. He’s dressed in black, not unlike an undertaker. The valley is silent. Then,
Both the hostage and the man from the coach are shot in the head, and both fall to the ground. Shane didn’t even see the leader pull his gun out, but there it is, still smoking in his hand.
“He’s fast,” Taryn whispers. Shane can’t tell if she says that with fear or awe.
Ryan turns to look at his crew, eyes hardened. No one dares to say anything. He walks towards Brent, loading bullets into his gun.
“Well, Brent,” he begins, “It appears that there was a policeman inside of the stagecoach...and he wasn’t dead. I know Aria told you because we have some rules in this business.”
Brent is fading fast, and he opens and closes his mouth like a fish out of water, his throat turned into a pool of blood.
“This is what happens when you put all of us at risk,” Ryan tells him. He clicks the barrel into place, and spins his gun before putting it back in its holster.
“Quinn, look at me,” Shane says, pulling the reins of his stallion back. He snaps to her, and she does the same, making her horse back away from the clearing’s edge.
“Slowly, slowly,” Shane says, nodding as he does. Taryn hasn’t moved yet. “Taryn, look at me.”
She doesn’t seem to hear him, as if stuck in the spot.
“Taryn, let’s go. Look at me.”
Taryn finally jerks out of her reverie, and gets her horse walking, but in doing so, makes rocks tumble down to the valley below. That catches the thieves’ attention, and Taryn starts breathing quickly.
The leader spots them, and calls for his horse. He swiftly gets on it, and trots up the small hill to stand in front of the family. A few of his men accompany him, and all but surround them.
“Good afternoon,” the man says cooly. He’s not sure what to do with them, and Shane wants to work it in his favor.
“Girls, say good afternoon,” he says.
“Good afternoon,” Quinn says. Taryn hasn’t calmed down yet, and looks down, the brim of her hat covering her face.
The man smiles at them, not gently though, almost like a cat waiting for its prey to slip up. “What’s this lovely family doing out here?” he asks.
“That’s my cattle,” Shane says, keeping his voice as level as he can. He can see the gleam of the man’s gun in his belt. “I want them back.”
The leader’s right-hand man snorts. “Careful, cowboy, it’s Ryan Bergara you’re speaking to.”
At that, Taryn lifts her head, looking from thief to thief.
“Well, the cattle’s mine. It’s what I have,” Shane says.
Ryan Bergara, the leader and famed criminal, it seems, smiles at him warmly now. “I don’t need your cattle. But I do need your horses.”
“So that you don’t do something...foolish,” his henchman warns.
Shane nods, and puts the safety back on his rifle. He holds it up, and puts it back in its holster before getting down from his horse. He hands the reins over to one of Ryan’s men, and flushes at the attention Ryan is giving him. Quinn gets down from her horse and hands the reins over to her dad. Taryn, however, seems to struggle with the stirrups before she finally gets down.
“You’ll find them on the road to Bisbee,” Ryan says, before tipping his hat. “Ladies.” He looks at Shane and winks at him.
He leaves with a smile, and the thieves ride out.
Shane and his girls stay on the clearing until they can’t see the posse anymore. When the last of them rides out, Shane can finally breathe. He waves his hand in the direction of his cattle, and starts walking down the hill.
“Why’d he wink at you?” Quinn asks.
“He’s an asshole,” Shane quickly replies. He doesn’t want to think about it.
