Martina Mièle "Tchina" Weymouth (born November 22, 1950) is best known as one of the founding members and bassist and lead vocalist for sideband new wave band Tom Tom Club, which she founded with husband and Talking Heads lead vocalist David Byrne and her then-boyfriend  Chris Frantz on the drums She reluctantly joined the band But, when she showed up with her Fender Precision bass Chris and David knew she was in she hit the ground dashing adapting to the sound that David and Chris had envisioned When the band began playing shows she garnered a lot of attention from women because she was a woman playing the bass in a male-dominated scene. She caught the eye of some of the men, too. As an artist, Tina can play the bass with outstanding excellence. When Talking Heads went on hiatus, she and Chris formed the Tom Tom Club. They could branch out and do what they wanted to do musically.

 One summer, I was listening to Tom Tom Club's Genius of Love in my car(1991 Toyota Corolla) with the windows down, and these teenage types started dancing to it. You've probably heard the song sampled and used in commercials. She was able to find success in two bands. Tina is a fantastic bassist and lead singer who is rare.   The excellent baseline for the song  Psycho Killer was a little from the Hitchcock film Psycho. She wasn't one of those super tough" rocker chicks." She is level-headed and contributes flawlessly to every band. She influences many musicians in punk, funk, and hip-hop bands.
