Info about Cloudclan: They are located in a forest near the Breezeclan fields, because they are more accustomed to the shade rather than direct sunlight they generally have more fur and they have the ability to climb trees that has been mastered over the years. As for their personality, they are extremely arrogant and think they are superior to Breezeclan, usually fighting over anything, they have a better relationship with loners and horrible relationship with kittypet just like Breezeclan

CloudClan - Year 4

Chapter 4

    It had been a few moons now, and Speckledpaw was getting into the rhythm of  training. She got along well enough with the older apprentices, Finchpaw and Thrushpaw, though the latter made her more uncomfortable as time went on. Palepelt had been working alongside Milkmoon to help Speckledpaw with her fear of the water. She would never be a great swimmer, but she had started to love diving, often ducking into the small tunnels to the nursery to make sure they were stable. It also gave her an excuse to check up on her aunt, who was expecting another litter, albeit not a planned one.

    “Hey Auntie, how are you holding up? Leafpaw says he thinks you’re expecting another kinda big litter. Also I brought you something to eat.” The apprentice set the fish in front of her aunt, who was splayed on her side, practically engulfed in the soft moss Snailpatch kept bringing in.

    “Oh, thank you! I’m doing wonderful. Just occupying myself with thinking of potential names and trying to not sink too far into this moss.” She joked slightly, rolling onto her stomach to eat, not quite showing her pregnancy obviously. “When you leave, please tell your uncle that I’m fine and I’d rather he snuggle with me if he’s so worried. At this rate there won’t be any moss for the medicine den.”

    Speckledpaw snorted. “I’ll try my best. He’s been running around like a quail without its head. I think everyone’s started being more worried about his health over yours.” She nuzzled her aunt gently. “I gotta go, Auntie Spruce wants me and Palepelt to do a border patrol, with the big meeting coming up and all. Briarpaw says he’s gonna check on you later, do you need me to pass on any messages or anything?” All the grown cats had been weirdly concerned about Riverback’s pregnancy, apparently she’d had two other kits that didn’t make it because she got ill suddenly or something.

    “No, No, I’m fine, but if you see any Cloudclan cats, give them hell for me, alright?” Riverback nudged her niece playfully with a paw, grinning. Speckledpaw just snorted, shaking her head a little before padding out. Camp had been getting quieter lately, everyone focused on preparing for Leaf-Bare. She watched Elderbark slowly make her way to the medicine den, carrying a fresh bundle of herbs. For a brief second, worry struck the apprentice that the elderly cat wouldn’t make it through the season. She had been the medicine cat before her grandfather had been born, and the thought of losing her constant presence was concerning.

    “Speckledpaw, are you ready?” The sound of her mentor approaching snapped her out of it and she looked over. The white molly practically Reeked of Redwind, Speckledpaw suppressing a slight gag at the memory of the two cats constantly courting each other. Gross.

    “Yeah, I’m ready. Which side are we starting on?” She followed her mentor out of camp, easily keeping pace with her mentor, and she suddenly felt a bit weird as she realized they were nearly the same height now. “We’ll be starting at the barn, to see how they’re doing and if they’d be willing to trade for herbs this coming season. I’d like to leave Cloudclan for last. With any luck we’ll avoid one of their patrols and a fight.”

    They quickly crossed the stones, the river much too cold to swim across now. “Auntie’s new litter are gonna be lucky. Learnin how to swim during Green-Leaf and all.” Speckledpaw mumbled absent-mindedly, following the slowly-familiarizing path to the barn. She liked the barn, the cats there were kind and willing to help, even if they were a little strange. Especially the leader of the group, Damascus. He was pretty old and some of the warriors thought he’d kinda lost it already. His daughter was super nice though, she had told Speckledpaw all sorts of stories when they had to stay the night because of a storm.

    The apprentice nearly bumped into the fence because of her daydreaming, worming her way underneath as Palepelt lept over it. She wasn’t sure she’d ever be able to jump like her mentor, but it sure was a pretty sight to see.

    “Howdy Miss Palepelt! Ya here to talk business or just see my pretty face again?” “Hello Daffodil. It’s business. I’d love to stay and chat but we still have a patrol to finish.” “Darn shame. I’ll go get Damascus. Be back faster than a lamb shake!” The soft golden molly who had greeted them hurried off as quickly as she had arrived, leaving the two clan cats to look over the farm. Cats were hard at work, either tending to kits, or to the weird patches of ground they called The Field. They had figured out how to grow herbs in the ground, so they were really good friends with Marshclan.

    Elderbark had apparently also tried to start growing herbs, but the soil in camp wasn’t the right kind, and anything out of camp would be too much of a hassle to regularly tend to like The Field. So instead every Leaf-Bare, and other times through the year, they’d trade. Fish for herbs, each getting something they wanted. Speckledpaw wasn’t quite sure why they wanted fish, they seemed to have so much already, but apparently they really liked the fish from Marshclan territory.

    “Palepelt, good to see you again. I suppose you’re here to talk about trading this winter?” Damascus, an old tom who was probably pure black in his youth but now heavily greying, hobbled over. “And how is Miss Elderbark? Is she well?” Palepelt nodded a greeting. “Yes, we are here to discuss trade. And Elderbark is well.”

    The tom seemed pleased to hear that. “Ah, wonderful. And of course we can trade. The harvest has been wonderful this season, and some of the young’uns are moving young sprouts of them more important herbs into the barn so they’ll stay warm even if it snows.”

    “That’s wonderful. In the next few days Sprucestar will be over then to discuss in more detail.” Palepelt smiled slightly. “Now if you’ll excuse our sudden exit, we must go.” She hopped up on top of the fence.

    “Course. Don’t be shy now! Come as often as ya’ll need!” The elderly tom called after the two mollies as they left.

    “Ok so… now we’re going towards Pineclan, right?” Speckledpaw tried to map their path out in her head. She wondered if they’d see any of them when they passed. She had yet to meet any, but she’d heard stories of cats that melted into the shadows and ran with the wind.

    “That we are. Don’t expect much though. They won’t really be patrolling our edge of the border. They have no reason to, and we don’t have much of one either, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.” Palepelt’s voice was quieter now, and she didn’t turn to look at her apprentice either. Speckledpaw had to wonder if her mentor had someone close there.

    The empty path of land stretching the boundary between the two clans unsettled her. She had always been told their ancestors had split it apart from their territories so cats unrelated to the war could pass in peace, but the packed dirt still carried the scent of death, at least to Speckledpaw. So instead, she tried to focus on the slight crunch of the grass under her paws, and watching the unfamiliar trees packed on the other border.

    “...Palepelt? How do they ever get anywhere through all those trees?” She could barely see any way through, any opening seemed to just be filled with more tree. “I mean, I don’t think anyone but you and Springpaw could fit through there.”

    The white molly stopped for a second, before snorting a little, her sullen mood apparently broken. “Speckledpaw, Pineclan cats tend to look different than Marshclan ones. They’re more built for weaving through those trees, like how you’re more built for diving.” She lightly nudged her apprentice as she made a noise of realization.

    “Most of us. I still struggled.” A sudden new voice sent both mollies on edge for a second, Palepelt whipping her head to look across the border. A huge brown and white molly stood on the other end of the border, though for a split second Speckledpaw thought the fellow cat had been some kind of beast. Scars were littered all across her pelt, and her eyes looked to be set in a permanent stern expression.

    “B-Bearstar, it’s an honor to see yo-” ‘Easy, easy. No need to be so formal.” The two older cats quietly greeted each other. “But why are you out on patrol alone?”

    As they spoke, Speckledpaw’s ears perked as she spotted something approaching through the trees. “Oh, I’m not patrolling alone. My mate and kit are with me, we were taking them out to tour the territory, as well as make sure Cloudclan isn’t pushing borders again.” The large leader looked back into the tree line, silently giving a go ahead for whoever was in there to step forwards. There was a silent gasp of amazement from the Marshclan apprentice as two sleek cats emerged. She could swear they were slimmer than the shadows.

    “Hello there, I’m Nightsong, and this is our kit, Snakepaw.” The large cat spoke, her dark pelt accented by the three light spots and her deep grey eyes. Speckledpaw had to look away for a second, her face flushing. So pretty… When she finally looked back up, the mollies had been joined by a scrawny, trembling apprentice, shorter than her. Their slim tail was wrapped tightly around their leg, nearly giving Speckledpaw a heart attack thinking there was a snake instead, due to its patterning.

    “So Cloudclan has been pushing again lately?” Palepelt spoke up again, bringing everyone back to attention. “I had been hoping the treaty would be upheld for more than 4 seasons… Well, I can certainly speak on the whole clan’s behalf that we will still continue to honor it.” Bearstar nodded slightly. “I appreciate that heavily. I can promise we will do the same. And be safe on the rest of your patrol.”

    The three Pineclan cats vanished back into the trees, Snakepaw glancing once back at Speckledpaw, a hint of that same amazement she had reflected in their eyes. They shared eye contact for a brief second before going their separate ways.

    “Let’s keep going, if we move fast we’ll be back before sundown. Ideally I want to be as far from the Cloudclan border as possible by then. If they’re willing to break a treaty so soon, I don’t doubt they’d be willing to attack us as soon as it gets harder to tell exactly who is who.” Palepelt quickened her pace towards the mountain in the distance.
