I think the friend group in Scarlet and Violet should have dragged you into more antics. Penny could have had an interaction with you in Levinica where she might have wanted help acquiring a collectable, or meet you in Artizon to try to commission Brassius to make an anime figure. Arven might have gotten you to help get more rare ingredients, maybe help him with find his real passions because his life was basically taken from him.

But the one I think would work very well during the main story is if Nemona drags you to the crater after hearing that there's super strong Pokemon down there. Then the both of you fight the Paradox Donphan titan and fail. Either no one hears of your time in Area Zero or Clivell rushes down on a flying taxi and drags you out of there. This would sell the idea that Area Zero is very dangerous and not to be entered. Plus I think that Nemona should have felt quite trapped as a trainer, having to restrain herself so no one has to crumple to her in a for fun battle. She should have been the first to jump at the chance to go all out, even if it is stupid and reckless to do so.
