What if I told you there was a lost Gegege no Kitaro fan film?

(鬼太郎座女禍) was a fan film produced by the doujin distributor “La Moon.” Little to no information about this movie is in English, making research difficult. However, according to the sources I could find, animators who worked on the third and fourth anime helped contribute to this film! The film was a type of motion-comic, using single cels to animate the story in a slideshow fashion.

Okay I did some more research, and it looks like these were possibly two separate programs?? One was a HUD that would show unique art when phone calls were being made/received, and the other was a calendar system.

I’m pretty sure this was the main menu for the HUD. When a call was being made/received, unique art of the characters would appear. 

As these devices became outdated, features like these would become lost to time. Stuff like this doesn’t warrant its own article on the Lost Media Wiki, however it’s still noteworthy to highlight, as I think it’s important.

There is an ASTRONOMICAL amount of lost media for phones and smart devices… the thought of trying to document it all makes my head spin. But I thought I should highlight one of my latest findings here.

This is, I believe, some sort of menu feature released for flip phones to tie in with Hakaba Kitaro, which was relatively new at the time. I don’t entirely understand all of the features, but from what I can gather there was the normal sort of HUD menu items you would expect * a calendar, a clock, etc * but you could also interact with Kitaro to an extent… again, not entirely sure. There’s not a lot of information, and I’m unable to access the blog of the artist who worked on the project. The little chibi designs are so GOOD though… so sad they didn’t get used to their full potential.

NordVPN is a scam

First of all, a lot of their claims are straight-up lies - it is not at all a serious concern anymore that some hacker in a coffee shop could steal your data over public wifi. They’re just trying to scare you into paying them

VPNs are important, just not for the reasons they describe. They encrypt your data so your ISP can’t spy on it and the destination server can’t personally identify your IP - the problem is, paid VPNs just become a secondary ISP at that point, since they have access to all your traffic unencrypted on the other side, and they know your IP too. If you really want to be anonymous, just using Tor (which is free) makes it virtually impossible for any third party to know both what is being sent and who is sending it. It’s trusted by hackers worldwide!

There are some things VPNs can do that Tor can’t, though. Many sites are able to recognize Tor and block anyone using it, and torrenting is very stressful on the Tor network and generally considered an uncool move (on top of being pretty difficult to set up). I use Tor for most of my browsing, but when it’s blocked or acting up (or when I need to pirate something without my ISP finding out and suing me) I switch to Firefox with Riseup’s free VPN. It’s run by a well-known activist collective, so you know they’re not spying on your data

Hello, my name is Chuck, I’m a low-income, mentally ill transgender individual who finally moved out of my father’s transphobic, ableist, bigoted household into a safe, comfortable house, where my pronouns are respected and my roommate is a delight.

Unfortunate news has come to me. Several misunderstandings and faliure of communication, along with incredibly selfish other tenants have lead to me being unable to afford my current living situation. The nonsensical complaints have already lead to the demand that the cats that lived here be kicked out and unless I can make $400 within a week to afford the new rent, I am going to be kicked out too.

I cannot express how distraught and nervous I am. I am unable to reason with the landlord at this time, my only option to avoid being told to leave is to pay off the money before March 1st. There are so many reasons that I cannot even begin to explain why I do not want to lose my new home.

Please, please help me, boost this is you can, I’m begging you. Anything you can. I know this is such short notice, I myself only received this news moments ago. I don’t know what else to possibly do.

Ugh that post has gotten me thinking about fat acceptance in a way I haven’t in years. I’ve read more studies about weight and health than probably any other topic I’ve ever researched. And every time I see someone wail about health I am just like

Did you know that in post-mortem examinations there is zero correlation between weight and levels of arteriosclerosis and related diseases found?

Did you know that people with an overweight BMI have the longest life expectancy, that those with an “ideal” and an “obese” have about the same life expectancy, and that being “underweight” raises mortality rates more than being “morbidly obese”?

Did you know that losing weight and then gaining it back is worse for your heart than remaining at the weight you started consistently?

Did you know that 95% of people who lose weight do gain it back, and there has never been a single documented weight loss program that has been demonstrated to keep the weight off for five years or more in the majority or even a significant minority of people? Like, telling people to lose weight isn’t much use if we don’t know HOW to make that happen.

Like I have read The Obesity Myth by Paul Campos and Rethinking Thin by Gina Kolata and Big Fat Lies by Glenn A Gaesser (Ph.D!) And Fat!So? and several other books that I don’t own and so don’t remember all of their names I spent like four years reading every single study coming out and looking at the methodology and noting which ones had huge holes or terrible methods and which didn’t (the holes were almost always in the pro-weight-loss studies) and like

Big Fat Lies has 27 pages of bibliography. 27 pages worth of scientific citation. The book content itself is only 197 pages. That’s a page of references for every 7 pages of book. Reading the book is just reference after reference and study after study. Most of these doctors (like Linda Bacon, author of Health at Every Size) started out the same way. They wanted to use the scientific method to find a real weight loss program or health solution that worked and could be proven to work, and so studied everything they could about weight and fitness only to find out that we didn’t need weight loss in the first place. That all the studies calling for it were lacking or nonexistent. That weight and underlying metabolic health have very little relation. That the history of our relationship with health and obesity has little basis in fact and a LOT of basis in capitalism, politics, and fashion. No, really, the association between weight and health was first proposed by insurance companies looking for ways to charge people more by claiming risk. They also charged tall and short people more. And people with different skin colors. When they got in trouble for charging people for things they had no control over and had no bearing on their health, they set out to prove that weight was controllable and that fat was unhealthy to make money. 

These are also a lot of the same people who went on to invent the President’s fitness program, so if you went to public school you probably already hate them. 

Anyway, if you want a place to start reading about the issue, this article is a pretty good launching pad.

Help a transmasc out this holiday!

Hey! My name is Chuck. And I’m begging for money yet again on tumblr because my ass is poor as hell and I’m a tight spot. And I desperately need help this Christmas season.

I need new glasses. My old ones are lost, and likely not going to be found. I will likely be getting a pair of temporary frames to replace them but the expense of the lenses of the insurance will pile up beyond belief.

I have trouble seeing without them and the fact I cannot afford new glasses at the moment is not sitting well with any of the people I live with either. I keep having to borrow my brother’s, and he needs them to drive.

Does anyone in the Furby Fandom know how to fix a 2005 Furby who keeps changing expressions rapidly?? He won’t stop going from angry to happy to sad and it’s looping constantly. I used contact cleaner on his battery contacts and factory reset him but nothing seems to be working...
