Working on my clay sculpture.

Keeping in with my initial thoughts on how our phones are a disruption in our daily lives. I used the track as a metaphor for falling of track. I used a blue light as a representative for the phone as the bule light in our phone disrupt us daily.

Assemble Project

Today in my clayworkshop. i wanted to represent the stages of docompostion with an object to show the viewer the stages without using the graphic scene and grotisque of a real body.

i chose the shape of a cube because it was the simplest shape for me to make out of clay which will prove to be effective.

in the pictures above, i started with making a perfect cube. this is in the fresh stage, also known as autolysis. This begins when the heart stops beating. with humans, the skin turns purple and the muscles begin to stiffen. This process is called rigor mortis.

the next stsge i will be working on is the bloat stage.

Was working with clay today and made a small figurine of Alice from Alice in wonderland. The idea is to paint it and photograph her holding a rose and see what I can make from that. I enjoyed making it even though it didn’t turn out exactly how I would have hoped but seeing as I haven’t used clay much in the past before attending lsad I think I did an okay job.

Shadow drawing with clay workshop.

Exploring the use of shadows in clay was a creative way to design form and shape. I learned that I could use both the negative and positive shapes to make form and structure. Getting used to the feel of clay and and understanding that the moisture in the clay affects the elasticity of the structure . I was enjoying the experience of the clay as it was changing within the moment. I didn't fire the clay instead I recycled for sustainability.

Saged the studio this morning. Reclaim being flip-flopped, 2- Garlic Roasters, 1-Spoon rest, 2-garlic graters all in drybox. 3 yarn bowls smoothed and moved to totes for next firing. Wedged 15 balls of 2lbs and 20 of 1lb 50lbs totally good workout for the morning.
