Made some shoes for a cosplay project that’s 2 (almost 3!) months overdue 🥲

These are my first pair of shoes I’ve made by hand since discovering/ picking up the skill way back in May 💜💜💜

They’re pretty comfortable for the most part and mostly came out the way I wanted. The only thing I wish I’d done better were the outsoles, but I sculpted those by hand with EVA foam, a dremel, crafting knife and sandpaper so 🤷🏾‍♀️

[MATERIALS]

Uppers are a Faux Stretch Patent Leather

Lining is a Spandex Jersey

Interfaced with Cotton Canvas on the vamp and a knit interfacing on all the stretch fabrics

Insole is Texon Board wrapped in the jersey with a steel shank and cork sheet to fill the gaps

Outsole is 6mm EVA-70 + 2mm Hard-Lite EVA foam painted with acrylics

Sock liner is 1mm Form-Lite EVA foam + Cork sheeting wrapped in Polyester Satin

Embellishments are 4mm EVA foam wrapped in the jersey and Gold beading glued to 2mm Hard-Lite EVA foam and cut to shape

The MH potion figures are adorably tiny but were basically unpainted hunks of plastic so I repainted them and it’s so worth it. They look so cute and the sculpts have such cool details, it’s a shame to not bring those out. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be Frankie and Cleo but the rest are close too.

So, my best friend (hi) and I have been talking a lot about Jax/Holt over the past few days ever since I got them also obsessed with Monster High. And we (by that I mean I) decided on who our "main cast" would be for our version of Monster High. And that cast is:

Jackson/Holt, Deuce Gorgon, Clawd Wolf, Clawdeen Wolf, and Draculaura!

So, I've decided to redesign all of them! Save Jax/Holt, because I redesign them too often anyways. So I'm going to start out with Clawdeen, since I had the most inspiration for her! And I've decided to share a bit of my creative process here as well, so if you're interested, continue reading!

Starting out with the first step I take in a redesign: the concept sketch.

This is usually a tiny, tiny sketch somewhere in my sketchbook mapping out the basic design. I took heavy inspiration from Moonlight Jewel's OOAK Clawdeen doll, Haunt Couture Clawdeen, and Wave 1 Clawdeen. I don't usually map in colours here, I keep those bouncing around in my brain.

The next step I take is: the headshot.

Pretty simple. I get a feel for how I want the character's face to look. Most of the time I use what I've coined the "Pinterest girl stare"; ie, no readable expression. I changed Clawdeen up a little bit in the final, but I still like this bust!

Next, I finally start on the full body ref!

I lumped the sketch and lineart together for simplicity's sake. The lineart is where I add most of the finer details, crosshatching, and decide what I do or don't want. Ex: I ended up cutting the ruffles off the end of her fishnets. You might also notice I didn't ink the chains on her belt- that's because I knew at this point that her pants would be black, so I wanted to ink the chains in white later. (Her hair was super fun to do here btw!! I love drawing undercuts and I love drawing braids, so it's a fun culmination of both!)

And once it's coloured, we have the final design!

Overall, I think she turned out great! I've always loved how freaky fab Clawdeen looks in green, and ofc neon green is my fave colour. I'd sell multiple of my organs to have this as a doll.

happy halloweeen!! here's my take on a "core refresh" pack (part 6)

frankie's fashion is very experimental. they like to explore themselves through what they wear since they're just learning things about the world. to symbolize their personality, they have a "quirky" style of fashion. mostly mismatched, mostly all over the place. there's not really a category for frankie's style... not that i can think of. they like to wear anything, honestly. dresses, suits, overalls, shirts, shorts, boots, heels. they're trying to figure out their style, so sometimes they'll incorporate some more colors. they like black and white, but they add teal in. yellow is another color added.

they don't wear real/natural silver because they've learned that this can harm their fellow monsters. any silver accessories they have is fake (painted grey, because that's a way to work around it)

they experiment with piercings

this was in my og design, but they have a huge patch over their left eye. it's plaid, so sometimes they try their best to match their outfits well enough for them to look aesthetically pleasing

likes patterns. stripes, plaid, etc. etc.

clawdeen's fashion is furry and bold. again, this is the fashionista of the school. she is the queen of fashion. again, she likes fur and animal print. whatever she chooses to wear is what usually sets the trends and expectations for those at monster high. she loves to explore herself though. i'd say her style evolves, but these are the main ideas of her fashion. she loves purple, but she also loves green. maybe has a french fashion inspiration? i don't really know how to label it. it's sort of mcbling, but also the style you'd expect of a very cunty aunt who likes shopping. she likes pants best, ngl. jeans are great. skirts are fine by her, she just loves pants.

i like the idea of clawdeen constantly changing up her style. yes, she can also wear something like her g3 outfits. much more coordinated. what i've displayed is the style that takes up most of her closet, tho

she wears glasses, but she has different pairs for each outfit

green is a color she loves so much but doesn't make use of it enough

the wolf family has a little emblem thing i've snuck onto each. it's a golden circle pendant with a small moon on the inside, two little bars holding up the design so it floats. it could also look like a money symbol... idk like coins. it's good luck. mostly for money manifesting and all. she runs with the gold and goes crazy. only gold, no bronze accessories. ever.

on days of the full moon, she will wear super loose clothing. the moon cycles could also impact her fashion choices.

draculaura's fashion is very iconic. a sort of gothy, classic, and romantic sort of look. i'd say she likes to take a spin on victorian styles and make them modern... while also mashing together those 2010s pink/black skull prints and tees that we all know and love. i really like the idea of her in a long dress that hits the floor. i would say she's romantic goth. she likes frills, long ball gowns, lace, and hats that can cover her from the sun whenever she has to travel outside in the daytime. lots of slip dresses if she wants to be more casual. elegance, but done cutely.

the silhouette of an outfit is what matters most to her when it comes to fashion

if she wears a skirt, she wears a big petticoat underneath. a very big petticoat

her parasol can be used interchangeably with a large hat. she always wants either or to match her outfit. and they are always kind of extra

her "victorian" style is a sort of nod to her immortality. she probably likes that fashion period best and likes to try and honor that

i like the idea of her experimenting with her hair. it was a g3 idea, kinda. but bangs, streaks, half and half, etc. i like to imagine draculaura being into the big goth hair

cleo's style is very similar to her g1 style. gold. blues. elegant, fresh, modern, and incredibly easy on the eyes. obviously, she loves to flaunt her designer clothing around school. and since she is so popular, it's expected for her to serve look after look. you will never ever see her look bad. every cleo portrayal i've seen never has enough mummy wrap. she needs it to survive and yet, she only has like, one or two bands on her arms. my cleo's fashion is all about wrap-themed clothing. she has lots of wraps. sometimes she comes up with ways to mix that or even show off her monster trait and heritage. she loves see-through, glittery material too, obviously paired on top of something. but it's glamourous. it's rich. it's sometimes a little 90s inspired, but mostly fresh.

this cleo loves pants. loose pants work, i suppose. but she likes them baggy. one of the best examples of what she likes to wear for pants would be those baggy pyramid-textued pants i designed for her once

gets custom made jewelry (braclets, earrings, etc) that spell out her name in hieroglyphics

likes shorter skirts, but secretly admires longer skirts ten times more

blue lover. any shade. try her. she will obviously mix around her makeup, nails, and hair to work around whatever blue she's feeling

loves gems. lots of gems. real ones, obviously.

doesn't like socks very much. she can literally just do the same thing socks do for feet with mummy wrap. same with stockings

draculaura was clawdeen’s sexual awakening

but since drac and clawd are in a committed relationship, clawdeen never interfered. instead, she made out with toralei at a party once, and the two of them made it official about two months later (let’s go lesbians)

howleen bought twyla noise-canceling headphones and made her fidget bracelets for her birthday

with cleo dating frankie and nefara dating clawdia, they’re both the royal family disappointments, which has strengthened their bond since they each came out (i.e. since cleo came out to nefara, who just brought clawdia home for dinner one night)

literally none of the wolf siblings are straight

draculaura would drink blood to get melanie martinez tickets the second she learns about normie music

no one speaks to gil anymore. especially not lagoona

venus and howleen have both been taken home in a cop car multiple times for public protests

toralei, meowlody, and purrsephone expand their band to include clawdeen and frankie. their music is inspired by a mix of paramore, stela cole, and chappell roan (plz i need to see toralei do a cover of “red wine supernova”)

frankie went to howleen so she could help them figure out their identity. since then, she’s become their go-to source for other important life questions, such as, “is a hot dog really a dog” or, “how do you use a microwave please i can’t burn down cleo’s kitchen”

deuce dresses like he goes to fashion school. i’m talking crop tops and low-waisted skirts or jeans, platform boots, baggy pants, and more accessories than you can count. a bi icon. clawdeen uses him as her model for her masculine-bodied designs

heath has adhd (i would say heath-twyla-neurodivergent solidarity, but she’d actually combust if she had to spend 20 minutes with him the poor girl)

Here it is. The Monster High infection AU, or I guess, curse AU, so I didn’t have to worry about the fact that logically 60% of the cast would not be able to get sick. At all. If you have any questions I’d be happy to share!

Clawdeen and Venus's family! (Gen1 as Gen3's parents)

I made these a bit rougher than I normally would, and I didn't shade them because I want to make more of these line ups, and if I worried about shading, I'd never get these done. I mean, "Flora's" hair alone, took me so long. It took longer than anything else XD It was fun, but god it was time consuming.

SO, lets start talking about Clawdeen and Venus family!

Clawdeen Wolf! (Both she and Venus kept their maiden names) Achieved her fashion designer dream, and is now happily married with two kids. (Said kids were born via plant magic. Like, grown in plants, like a fairy or something)

Her outfit was intended to be like a mix of gen3's Selena and gen1 Clawdeen. Her boots, which looked cooler in my head, are intended to have a purple galaxy effect in the wedge. She also has a pair of lower heeled boots for busy days at the office when she has to do a lot of walking. Clawrisa's fur coat was a gift from her for her 14th birthday.

Venus Mc Flytrap! She works as a professional garden designer/landscaper, in her spare time she gardens lots of food, which she donates to shelters and the homeless. She also rocks out in her band, the Elementals, whom often do charity events. Married to Clawdeen, and mom to Flora and Clawrisa. (Punkmompunkmompunkmom)

Flora Mc Flytrap! A plant monster like Venus. She shares Venus's love of the planet and Clawdeens love of fashion. She's very outgoing and relaxed, and loves a good spa day. She loves giving her friends self care days. (let it be known, the doll came out after I drew all of this and came up with this, so...there will be both visual and description inaccuracy's. XD) Her pet is Lilian, the plant Chihuahua. (I know it's supposed to be a cat, but it has Chihuahua every, kind of looks like one, and it rides around in that pot like it's a little dog in a purse XD) (aW MAN, I FORGOT HER BABYHAIRS!! uggg!)

Clawrisa Wolf! A werewolf like Clawdeen. She's the younger sibling of Flora. She's a bit of an athletic nerd, with a generally positive attitude. Known for her curiosity. She loves hanging out with her cousin and best friend, Lorelei (gen3 Draculaura)

She has a pet wolf (normal wolf) named Moon, whom is just a puppy.

Chewlian! Venus's pet outgrew his pot, and now lives in his own greenhouse that sits behind the family house. He can also move on his own, using his roots like tentacles. Despite his terrifying appearance, he's never once tried to eat the kids or the other family pets, in fact, he makes a pretty good babysitter.

first in my monster high series in which i redraw every single doll that’s ever come out because i literally cannot stop myself. i’m just going to pretend that this is to help with character design, posing, and rendering as an excuse to draw pretty monster ladies.

she's currently finished but am yet to take photos she has a new custom outfit down to boots. she is one of four dolls ive repainted for requested custom dolls gor 3 girls to choose one of each, the cleo repaint EH dolls x2 and this one so will be interesting to see which 3 the gorls choose!! they are pretty excited to see them and ive made up one extra outfit for each doll coz what 7-8-9 year old wont want to change their dolls clothes!? they know these folls are not like regular dolls and are alittle more fragile as they have gotten customs from me previously and they mainly stay on display, im happy to install in them the custom doll bug at this young age so thats cool in its self! they go crazy over my dolls soni LOVE THEM😍🤩
