Happy Father’s Day! It was my distinct pleasure and privilege to attend the premiere of the hilarious new feature film “Dad & Step-Dad” this evening. Directed by creative polymath Tynan DeLong, this fully-improvised film began as a fun short back in 2018 with actors Anthony Oberbeck, Colin Burgess and wunderkind Brian Fiddyment. In the summer of 2021, they all reunited along with the brilliant Clare O’Kane in upstate New York to film the feature. The entire theater was cracking up all night, it was a total hoot. I’m so proud of everyone involved, it’s really quite special and cool. There are several premiere events lined up this coming week in Brooklyn, I hope you get to see it! They’ll soon also be doing an up and comers stand-up showcase series digitally called Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring that has sets from Tom Thakkar, Petey DeAbreu, Dina Hashem, Natasha Vaynblat, Ian Lara, Clare O’Kane, Stavros Halkias, Hanna Dickinson, Joyelle Nicole Johnson, Yedoye Travis, Marie Faustin, Ryan Beck, Martin Urbano, and Chris Cotton already lined-up. A round in LA will soon follow.

A told that’s over 14 hours of stand-up announced coming over the next year from Comedy Central. In fact, the hour specials from Davis, Funches, Wood Jr., and DiStefano are coming all in January.

Props to everyone here. We have no doubt some gold will be coming through these specials and we can’t wait to see it.

I finally got to check out Windbreaker, the wondrous monthly comedy showcase presented by hostesses with the mostesses Clare O’Kane and Emily Panic. Please Get and Thoroughly Enjoy Clare O’Kane’s Debut Album “Let It Be”

A combo of laid back breeziness and having a bite is a rare find in comedy, but that is what you’ll find with Clare O’Kane and her debut comedy album Let It Be, fresh off the presses over at AST Records.

Clare has spent a significant amount of time honing her comedy chops in SF, LA, and NYC and the result is an hour that hits that sweet spot between loose, sharp, personal, silly, flippant, and sweet (the intro by Megan Koester sets a perfect tone for the album by the way). There’s such an great easy going energy for this album, it almost feels like it wasn’t being recorded and you’re a fly on the wall at a really cool indie show. 

So, go get Clare O’Kane’s Let It Be on vinyl or iTunes already.
