Collectable Diecast Toys of the Past

Each and every one of us knows about his or her past childhood. It was full of fun with lots of toys that used to be our best playmates at that time. Parents in those days used to bring toys according to the amount of wealth they used to possess. There are numerous types of toys, each and every child used to play with. Even now we can recollect the past memories and know about the kinds of toys we are so used to play with. Among them, diecast toys were very popular among kids. Dinky 100 Series

Toy cars of this particular series were actually five open top sports cars that were issued both in competition and touring finishes in the early 1950s. Due to their popularity, they are popularly called as ‘100 series’. Thus in this series, there are two different categories of cars that are known as competition cars and Touring cars.

a)      Competition Cars These types of cars have black racing numbers printed in white circles on each side of the car and the bonnet. The numbering of these cars has actually made them very beautiful and attractive. The same can’t be said for a toy car called ‘Sunbeam Alpine’ that had its number on the boot, but not on the bonnet. b)      Touring Cars These types of collectable diecast toys don’t showcase any numbers. The early models of these cars used to have ridged hubs and smooth tyres. Approximately near the end of the production of these toys, there were some changes in its components resulting in silver spun wheels fitted with bobbly ‘M’ tyres with a black gloss base. Thus, these models have been highly sought after these changes have been made. Furthermore, all these models had drivers dressed as a nice gentleman in grey.
