#Ciaran OC: Night Drift

Very quick doodle, wanted to join in on the metal cardbot oc train! :}}

My first thought was maybe an ex star guardian (hence the resemblance to bluecop) that feels guilt over not being able to save their planet turning to racing as a sort of coping mechanism, constantly running away from the past

but now i think maybe they're just a bot that has always been a racer of some sorts and enjoys the freedom of travelling all over the world to join in races, giving him apprehensive feelings about the metal breath that could seal him and take away that freedom being on the same planet

What are the characteristics of Night Drift?

If it's not a secret?

No secret at all! I'd love to talk about them!! :}}

Night Drift is a bit of a loner, constantly just moving from one race to the next while also keeping their identity as a metal cardbot secret from the people he races against.

Despite that, he has a sort of reputation in the street racing scene, entering races, winning and leaving without taking the prize money (as he has no need for it)

He once was a hot-headed egotistical guy, but being alone for so long has simmered him down and now he's quiet and distant. Despite that, he loves the high stakes of racing and proving he's the fastest, that he's the best at something. When it comes to racing, he's not afraid to taunt his rivals into mistakes that cost them the race.

Night Drift longs to be not alone anymore but his actions of constantly moving and giving the cold shoulder to make sure no one gets too close inhibits that dream

I'm still working out his past, but I think what I'll do is have him be a former star guardian (preserving the whole 'bluecop is the last star guardian' canon) that, due to his inflated ego at the time, hurt the people around him and was denounced as a star guardian.

Not wanting to face his past mistakes he's constantly on the run and closing himself off, not wanting to hurt anyone or hurt himself again

In the mock episodes I'm writing (I've done a bit of screen writing in uni its pretty fun to flesh out small stories like this) it's about Night Drift taunting Red Blitz into a race only to end up meeting Bluecop again, and therefore discovering the existence of the metal breath on earth.

Very much opposed to facing his past (bluecop) and being stuck in the metal breath he fights for his freedom and escapes. Night Drift and Bluecop eventually have a heart to heart and while it doesn't convince Night Drift to allow himself to be sealed, it definitely makes him think about his life, and learning to let go of the past that haunts him.

the next time he appears he takes from Bluecop's example and makes a human friend in street racing. Not wanting to separate the friends as it follows the goal of Jun and Bluecop of humans and metal cardbots coexisting, Jun agrees to not seal him and allow him to live his life free and now with a friend.

He mellows out after that and sticks with his new friend but is more than willing to help out the others if they're in need.

TLDR;

Cold, closed off, little bit of a hothead still, not afraid to taunt opponents, haunted by his past

post meeting Jun and Bluecop: mellowed out, little awkward but nice, likes to banter with friends, still not perfect but healing and learning
