I can’t begin to express how grateful I am off the temple and our prophet Russell Nelson. When we have moments of difficulty, moments of loss, pain, it can be hard to be grateful. But I have to believe this pain we feel isn’t for nothing. So many years I’ve suffered with depression, anxiety and personality disorder. But as I’ve come to learn that this pain I’ve felt has made me more loving of people. Easier for me to understand other suffering. As a nurse I can’t imagine how my life’s pain hasn’t made me a better nurse. Find calm in God. The storm may be blowing but we can always seek shelter from the storms.

Today's art is inspired by a Reddit comment I wrote once, the text of which I will put here: "I saw a rainbow flag somewhere and was immodestly hit with a ray of rainbow light, ripping the sleeves of my t-shirt off and the kneecaps of my shorts off, leaving me near naked with only wearing a torn tank top and knee revealing shorts. Looking up I saw a non-binary angelic personage offering me a wine glass of coffee bathed in the rainbow technicolor glow. "Eat! Drink and be merry! for tomorrow, we die! and it shall be well with us!"I offered them a handshake and attempted to shake it, only to feel no flesh in their hand as we "shook". None the less, I ignored the scriptures in D&C 129 and took a sip of the curious strong drink...to which I soon drank it all. The "angel" then took me to a lake of pure burning hot black coffee and baptized me in it (the prayer was littered in "dangs, goshes and hot belgian waffles!") before lifting my burned body to a high mountain where the cold air and rainbow dark arts involving mosquito sacrifices healed my burns and turned my hair blood red. From the mountain I could see all of America, which is the world and was told I would bring to pass a great work across the world... When I traveled home I couldn't find rest, only for Ronald Mcdonald in angelic glory to appear at the hour of midnight telling me to go to a hill every month for 4 years and then to dig up the sacred golden arches containing the recipes for big macs. 4 years later I did so and was revealed revelation to restore McDonalds to the earth. I followed it faithfully. Now I live miserable every day for the great temptation I fell for, and for the great sin I committed. But it's too late now, I'll never be forgiven for allowing my knees and shoulders to be revealed"

A hole in the Tools at ChurchofJesusChrist.org/Member Tools has been filled. It is now possible to post events that the public is invited to on a forum the public can see! Each ward now has a public presence. The biggest implication I can see comes from the Church's guidelines on Internet.churchofjesuschrist.org that gives guidance on how to use digital tools. It says, "Online resources should not duplicate tools and features that are already on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, Member Tools, or other Church resources." This suggests that many of the social media tools currently used by wards are now duplication and should probably be shut down.

I'm sorting and packing things because we're moving, and I found a temple garments bag(?) • Someone gave this to me as a gift when Simon and I got engaged and told me I would find out what it's for when I go through the temple • I never went through the temple. I just didn't want to! It seemed like such a hassle and I had enough faith to believe that God wouldn't withhold any blessings if I didn't get endowed in my mortal life😂 • We didn't have a temple in the area where we got married, and making a trip to the closest temple just wasn't feasible at the time. So we had a civil marriage, intending to go through the temple later when we can afford the trip etc • But we just kept putting it off and when bishopric started getting more pushy about it, I got spooked by that and started refusing to go on principle that they were being too pushy about it • Even when we lived literally 10 minutes away from a temple, I still refused to go through! • They didn't like that. And they ESPECIALLY didn't like that I kept telling them my faith was strong enough to NOT go through the temple • Anyway, I never learned what this bag was for, but I thought it was a quick sewing project the woman in my ward did for me, felt grateful for it, and tucked it away until I found out what it was for • And TODAY I found it again and saw this label. This is an "LDS authorized pattern"?? It's a cloth fold lock bag you weirdos!! It's one of the most basic sewing patterns!! Every Day Is a Breakthrough

At Church last week, the Bishop gave the last speaker permission to go over time. After applying what was taught, I can see why!

The Brother said he does this thing every day, where he prays, saying all his thoughts, and then listens and records whatever God says, and then goes and does the prompting, however weird it is. Once, he said, the Spirit told him to go to the fridge and open the door. (He didn’t tell us why, but that is an example of how weird God’s promptings may be.)

I interpreted his counsel to “say all your thoughts” as to mean, “Say all the thoughts you never thought you should acknowledge, say aloud, or tell God.” 

And so I did. I told God some feelings I had. I had never dared entertain them, and they seemed too sinful to mention to Him. To mention them would be to accept them as mine, and I could not do that! But I finally told Him these thoughts and feelings I’d had. He told me to go play ukulele. 

I didn’t know how to play, but just a week or so before, I’d learned how to tune the ukulele, which I had requested for my birthday several years before. When I learned to tune it, I also learned that playing it gives you a high similar to a runners’ high.

I went and played, and it did help me feel better. Now I use it as a stress reliever and am learning more. I hope to use it on my mission.

I wrote my notes about this experience-- what I said in my prayer, what God said in return, etc.-- in a journal I now reserve just for this nightly time to tell God my feelings and hear His in return.

It has made my testimony stronger, my faith stronger, and His realness to me much stronger. My relationship with Him is deepening. I love Him like a mortal Father, and I know He will always take care of my emotional needs. In addition, I have learned that He will never “upbraid” me (James 1:5-6). 

Definition of upbraid:

“find fault with (someone); scold”

I pray that you will find your way to doing this every day, too.

You can remember “pray, listen, act.” 

With God, and doing this, every day for me has been a breakthrough. I pray it will be for you,

Sunday sculpture of Jesus Christ using as a reference an image from @thechosentvseries which is an amazing crowd funded program based on the historical biblical accounts of the life and ministry of Jesus. I believe that Jesus was who he claimed to be and that we if we live according to His teachings our lives will improve. He was the Son of God and because He suffered and died for us, then was resurrected. We too will be resurrected and the just and the unjust will reap the rewards of their choices in life.
