hullo, are there any corvid-like beings in the Buenos Aires area? or any other fascinating creatures
Corvids in Buenos Aires
Corvids are not common in BA, but Plush-crested does occur in the area. The other 2 Argentine species occur to the NW.
Here are the 3 species that live in Argentina:
(All these jays are also found outside of Argentina.)

Plush-crested Jay (Cyanocorax chrysops), family Corvidae, order Passeriformes, found in northern Argentina
Photos: Steve Sanchez & David Monniaux

Azure Jay aka Gralha Azul (Cyanocorax caeruleus), family Corvidae, order Passeriformes, found in NE Argentina
This bird is closely associated with the endangered Paraná Pine, acting as a major seed disperser for this tree.
photos: Dario Lins & Takao Takayama

Purplish Jay (Cyanocorax cyanomelas), family Corvidae, order Passeriformes, found in northern Argentina
photos: Bernard DuPont & Matthew Grub
*************************************************
Now, you could make the case that some of the blackbirds are vaguely Corvid-like (especially if you think of crows and ravens when you think of Corvids). Here's a couple that are found in Buenos Aires...

Screaming Cowbird (Molothrus rufoaxillaris), family Icteridae, order Passeriformes, found in northern and central Argentina

Yellow-winged Blackbird (Agelasticus thilius), family Icteridae, order Passeriformes, found throughout much of Argentina

May 2024
🥀Red-bellied jumping spider (lat. Philaeus chrysops) is a jumping spider, harmless to humans. It lives among hawthorn thickets and other shrubs. Typically, its body matches the color of the bark, while the bright coloring of its abdomen and legs resembles the hue of hawthorn berries. Jumping spiders are active during the day and primarily rely on their vision.
These spiders have a well-developed internal hydraulic system, which enables them to leap great distances — far beyond the length of their own bodies🕷

Last of my three pun drawings for a biology magazine! Featuring a Episyrphus balteatus -hoverfly, a housefly, and a Chrysops caecutiens -deer fly.
"Kaksi kärpästä yhdellä iskurepliikillä" means "two flies with one pickup line". It is a variation of "kaksi kärpästä yhdellä iskulla", which literally means "two flies with one strike", but is in fact the Finnish version of the idiom "two birds with one stone".

A twin-lobed deerfly (Chrysops relictus). Like mosquitoes, egg development in the adult female requires a blood meal from cattle, horses or deer. The males are often seen on flowers while feeding on nectar.
