A bit more of the Count of Monte Cristo AU, featuring some baby hellcheer and Jason’s POV:

Christina was meant to be his.

Jason knew that.

It was predestined, written in the stars. He had known it the moment he first saw her when they were just children, playing in the fields in the countryside, her hair like honey beneath her bonnet, eyes gray and blue like the seaside. When they would run through the tall grass together, he would hold out his hand and she would take it and she would smile.

It was a small smile, shy, but it was still bright… It was. He hadn’t made it all up. He knew she loved him. She had to… How couldn’t she?

One couldn’t pretend to love. She was going to be his wife one day.

Nothing was more certain until the earth shifted beneath his feet that day in the early summer when he took Christina out to the market, her arm tucked safely in the crook of his own. Sheltered little thing as she was, she was enthralled by the people, the smells and the sounds. Jason had some coins in his pocket that Father had given him and he would buy her something pretty to wear if she liked, maybe some ribbons for her golden hair, or something sweet for her to taste on her tongue. Maybe she’d even let her kiss him in secret behind the linen stands where no one could see. They were twelve at the time and he was so eager to please her, to enchant her.

It was a perfect day, until she suddenly tugged at his sleeve and he looked down to see her staring off toward the town center, her eyes sparkling. “Jason, what is that boy's name?”

Jason’s brows lowered in confusion and followed her gaze to see just who she was speaking of. Edward—rather Eddie—Munson sat at the edge of the fountain a small distance away, playing his guitar with a straw hat at his feet, collecting dust and spare change from those passing by. His dark eyes were on them, on Christina, smiling at her like a damned fool.

Jason frowned immediately.

“Who? Eddie?” He had known Eddie his whole life. His uncle managed in his father’s shipyard and Eddie served as the cabin boy on the Loch Nora for the last three years. He was a few years older than him, illiterate and poor as the dirt he was covered in. “He just works for my father.”

“Are you friends?” she asked.

“Yes, I suppose,” Jason replied with a stiff shrug, feeling suddenly kind of embarrassed about his companionship with the penniless orphan… the ship builder’s nephew. Eddie was amusing and good at playing catch when Jason’s studies were a bit too boring. He liked him well enough, but he still felt the need to explain himself to her. He was a viscount after all. “He's the only one around who’s my age.”

Christina nodded in understanding, half listening as she just kept staring at Eddie. Their eyes still locked on one another. Jason began to feel his own sweat staining the linen of his shirt under the hot sun as he looked back and forth between them in nervous confusion. He could not for the life of him understand what was happening here. “Did you wish to make his acquaintance?”

“I already have,” she replied softly. “He just hadn’t told me his name.”

“…Where?” Jason tried not to snap in confusion, a strange sort of dread filling his lungs. Where on earth had his perfect, delicate Christina meet rough and rowdy Edward Munson? He cleared his throat. “Where did you meet him?”

She didn’t answer him, just smiled shyly down at the cobbled street. “…He plays so well, does he not?”

“I…I guess.” Before he could grab hold of her, she slipped away from him, floating toward the music, toward Edward, as if cast under some spell by his playing… or perhaps by his eyes that she had yet to look away from.

“Hey, what are you doing? Wait up.” He called after her, scrambling forward. “Christina!” She was not supposed to leave his side. She was his to look after. His Christina.

His.

“Could we go listen?” she asked as if she wasn't already going to do just that, not even bothering to look over her shoulder.

“You’re not supposed to wander off!” He huffed, pushing past the crowd, falling behind Christina's light and graceful steps weaving her through the myriad with far more ease.

Eddie’s smile grew brighter at her coming, looking almost breathless with wonder when she reached his side, it was like he was looking at the sun for the first time after living underground his whole life. “Hello again.” he greeted her, his song slowing down to something more gentle and sweet, his eyes glimmering with delight.

“Hello.” Chrissy replied a little shyly, curtsying politely.

“…I didn’t know if I’d ever see you again.” There was some amusement in his tone, some secret between them that made fire burn behind Jason’s eyes.

“My family summers here, near the seaside,” she told him, folding her hands in front of her skirts. “…I wanted to thank you.”

Thank him? For what exactly?

Eddie’s gaze softened as his eyes glided over her face, his fingers stilling against the chords. “It was nothing… I’m glad you’re alright.”

“What do you want, Roxanne Ritchi? Money? After tonight, you’ll have that!”

Offended, Roxanne stood to her full height. He let her arm slide through his fingers as she did so. Then she raised her flute of champagne to eye level, giving it a swish as she did so. Megamind appeared golden and distorted, covered in bubbles. 

With her free hand, she raised it to delicately finger the single black pearl pendant that rested just above her bosom. With a smile, recalling an old story about Cleopatra and a pearl, she gave a gentle tug, breaking the chain in one smooth movement. The alien tilted his head, watching in curiosity. With a smirk, she then dropped the pearl into the bell of the glass. Champagne fizzed all about the pearl as it descended to the bottom of the glass with a tiny clink.

With eyes locked, she lifted the glass in a silent toast to the genius before downing the beverage plus pearl in one smooth gulp. The pearl, roughly the size of her thumbnail tumbled its way down her throat.

“That,” she stated firmly, “is what I think of money.”

Like, I don't really care if Megamind cast meets The Gargoyles. I'm more interested in casting them in the roles of other media.

But my particular favorites is Megamind in Hamilton. this is also what I do when I'm feeling particularly anxious. focusing on THIS and debating with myself "why this character works best here for this reason."

Angelica/Eliza: Roxanne (though, now that we have more cast members from Megamind Rules, I'm willing to throw Christina Cristo into one of these roles. haven't figured out which. Or maybe even Peggy. Idk. )

Aaron Burr: Bernard (I can explain)

George Washington: Either Warden or Metro Man. Warden because he's older, but Metz because "Teach them how to say goodbye" would work SO WELL.

I think Bernard as Burr is interesting since Megamind did steal his likeness in the movie, and I have this image of Bernard dancing on a table "In the Room Where It Happens."

okay here we go, listening to ana frango eletrico. fucking artist babes

tenha coisas pra deixar por aqui que passaram pela minha cabeça a um tempo. muita coisa negativa e positiva tbm.

primeiro. li minha versão de você, da(s) christina lauren (são duas autoras). não ironicamente, mudou minha vida... pra BEM melhor. something shifted inside me that made my thoughts go towards good things now. até comecei a seguir páginas de coisas positivas no ig (amando, sem piada). o livro é a coisa mais linda do mundo. tem muito sofrimento durante o desenvolvimento da história de tanner e sebastian, mas no fim eles conseguem ficar juntos (uau spoiler), o que, de alguma forma, me deu esperança. de um amor. de uma vida. de algo que eu ainda não sei, mas enchei um pouquinho mais um potinho de esperança que eu tenho em algum lugar within me. foi bem inesquecível, na vdd, a experiência que essa leitura me trouxe. recomendo a todos, de coração.

me causou algumas discussões internas sobre religião - eu estava lendo nos msm dias da 1. semana santa e 2. nos dias que trabalhei na paixao de cristo aqui da cidade. foi muito difícil ver todo o sofrimento (n tem outra definição pra isso) que o sebastian passou com a familia mormon. eu nem sou de uma familia tao religiosa assim, mas levei algumas facadas aqui e ali na história. no fim, cheguei a uma conclusão: de fato, não me encontro mais na religião como antes. comentei até no twitter (para os meus 20 seguidores que nem viram oq eu falei). se eu precisasse tanto me encontrar na religião, seria muito doloroso. sei que existem pessoas lgbtq+ dentro desse meio, que se sentem muito movidas pelo divino, mas meu problema (um deles) são os dogmas da religião (eu era cristão, nem especifiquei). desejo tudo de bom a essas pessoas, mas acho que não daria certo pra mim porque, mesmo que eu realmente quisesse estar dentro da igreja, me incomodaria MUITO ter que dividir um espaço com pessoas que usam da mesma fé que eu pra justamente embasar homofobia, transfobia e outras coisas tbm, principalmente tendo toda a visão crítica que tenho do movimento hoje. sem contar que, numa igreja de cidade de interior, isso ia ser jogado de lado e todo mundo seguiria suas vidas ne, mas o viadinho la de joelho orando ia ficar com esses pensamentos pra vida inteira (porque fica la guardado, ah se fica).

claro, pode surgir cristão progressista de qualquer buraco dizendo "mas você não precisa ir pra igreja. deus te ouve de qualquer lugar"... well this kinda helps me not gonna lie MAS me sinto mais confortável dentro da noção agnóstica da coisa, ainda vou me acostumar com essa ideia.

ai acho que eu se escrevesse aqui "livro perfeito" umas 700 vezes ainda nao ia ser o suficiente pra demonstrar o queanto ele eh perfeito e lindo e tudo de bom. marcou pra sempre !!

ai temos as outras esferas da minha vida ne: academia, trabalho, e universidade (que divide em semestre e projeto). a academia eh o menor dos problemas, porque na verdade não está sendo problema, está sendo ótimo.

no trabalho though... it's going pretty fine actually, just being dramatic. mas assim, tiraram as comissões até segunda ordem e não sabemos como vai ficar, portanto 1. estou triste com isso porque, mesmo que eu não recebesse muito, era uma ajuda e 2. como não vai ter comissão, não vai ter produção da minha parte ;) não acho ruim apenas no sentido da produção, porque, perto das outras queridas colegas de escritório eu produzo muito pouco, porque depende da minha conversa com o cliente, e eu não sou bom vendedor, só dentro do possivel... mas espero que dê certo. se a comissão virar coletiva, eu me empenho mais, porque não quero que a falha da equipe venha pra cima de mim, JAMAIS.

agora universidade, tá díficil a situação, em diferentes aspectos (pra mim, na verdade, especificamente). primeiro, o projeto. está sendo minha parte favorita, porque eu gosto muito do tema e fez eu me interessar mais sobre políticas educacionais, e educação, no geral. vou apresentar meu seminário parcial na terça, espero que dê tudo certo, e acho que vai, tô bem tranquilo quanto a isso. sobre o semestre? de mal a pior. teoria dos números eu tirei um dois pra primeira prova e cálculo avançado NOW LISTEN a prova não estava ruim, mas, por conta de outras coisas (muitas coisas) não consegui estudar da melhor forma. essas duas coisas tem mexido muito comigo. ratinho da área acadêmica e sempre sendo de boa nas disciplinas, passar por esses dois empecilhos me desestruturou. isso é bem besta na verdade, se você parar pra pensar. ainda tenho duas notas em cada disciplina pra poder recuperar, sendo que, na verdade, nem recebi a nota de cálculo ainda. mas teoria tá nos meus pés me mostrando que eu não sei nada, eu me sinto uma PORTA. não sou assim.

e eu tenho a opção de não ser assim. só estudar ué. aproveitar bastante meus 10 minutos livres por dia pra dar um gás nos estudos pra prova (contém ironia pesada, tipo, toneladas)... isso tem me cansado muito.

lamento muito ao leitor (quem? não sei) pelo próximo parágrafo. começou a tocar working for the knife, da mitski.

eu tenho passado tempos cansado demais. de tudo. de tudo mesmo. minha rotina diária sendo acordar às 5h da manhã pra academia-trabalho-2h livres-trabalho-ufcg e, finalmente, chegar em casa. tenho 1h até bater 23h, quando, em teoria, eu já tenho que dormir. eu sinto que não consigo ir bem na universidade esse período porque a carga de estudos pra essas duas disciplinas aumentou, pra eu realmente conseguir passar de boa. mas com que tempo vou estudar? o que me sobra é o dia e meio que tenho em forma de fim de semana, que se ocupa pelas coisas da universidade. me cansa, porque eu quero uma carreira acadêmica, mas o sistema não quer que eu tenha. se eu preciso melhorar na universidade, precisaria usar um tempo que estou no trabalho, e não dá. alguns dias vou ter que sair pra resolver coisas do projeto, e eles deixaram eu me ausentar!! pelo menos uma vitória. e vou aproveitar bem.

tudo isso segue da minha cobrança acadêmica (que eu mesmo faço). a primeira pessoa na fila pra me pressionar sobre meus resultados sou EU.

mas além disso, sabe o que me chateia? é que, nas perspectivas das avaliações, eu estou falhando, mas eu APRENDI TUDO O QUE EU TINHA PRA APRENDER. sabe, vai se fuder. o projeto é o que tem sido minha luz, porque, pelo menos NELE, eu sei que eu tô me saindo bem.

enfim... tudo isso né, coisa BESTA. por isso que me dá raiva de gente rica. não, e eu podia sei lá trancar o curso se eu tivesse alguma perspectiva de crescimento profissional, mas não tenho. vou ficar pra sempre num salário minimo se eu não terminar meu curso. tenho os concursos que eu me inscrevi, mas eu não consigo estudar... porque eu não tenho tempo.

e sem ironia, tudo isso seria muito mais leve se, pelo menos, a carga horária do trabalho fosse menor. até se eu não trabalhasse no sábado, ajudava.

lembro ano passado quando me matei de estudar em EDO, indo dormir de 2h da manha pra acordar às 7h pra trabalhar. ninguem, NINGUEM merece passar por isso. eu ODEIO ser taxado como guerreiro por trabalhar e estudar, porque eu não devia sofrer desse jeito pra construir meu futuro. queria ter uma gota de dignidade às vezes.

ai enfim... vou tentar ver o lado mais positivo dessas coisas agora, mesmo que tenha um eu chaterrimo la dentro da minha cabeça me cutucando dizendo que tô saindo do controle. mas vai dar certo, vou mentir até dar. falta so 40 dias pro periodo acabar, e minhas férias vão ser em junho, e o próximo periodo vai ser bem mais leve, e se eu reprovar teoria eu limpo curriculo so por ela. tudo tem uma rota de escape. vai dar certo. queria ouvir isso de alguém, me abraçando, mas vai eu mesmo.

falando em alguém me abraçando. o livro me deixou tão carente. tive uma crise quinta de noite. depois melhorei, mas aconteceu.

porque na verdade juntou o livro + um tiktok que eu vi acho que já faz bem um mês. o homem dizendo que tinha 28 anos e nunca esteve em um relacionamento.

eu SEI for a fact que eu nunca me apaixonei e ACHO que ninguem me apaixonou por mim, pelo menos nao disseram ne... mas é uma coisa muito estranha, um sentimento que sobe, dá um refluxo pensar isso às vezes. eu acho que, além de desejo, além do que eu quero na minha vida, a primeira coisa que eu quero, como prioridade, é me sentir amado romanticamente. nunca senti isso por ninguem.

claro, já surgiu desejo, tesão por algum homem. comum na minha vida, inclusive. tem a questão de eu "me apaixonar" pelos heteros que me tratam feito gente, mas depois eu me puxo de volta pra realidade... já fantasiei com um querido da universidade, mas vamos deixando de lado.

voltando, não acho que eu pratique essa prioridade, sinto que, ao longo da minha vida, outras coisas foram empurrando essa necessidade de ser amado lá pra trás. minha noção de estudos, de formação, de futuro, minha homossexualidade... acho que, se me acontecesse hoje, agora, de eu me apaixonar, sei lá, alguem me pedir em namoro, eu não ia querer, porque eu não tenho tempo. can you believe it? sem contar que nunca beijei nem transei, às vezes me sinto atrasado, mas sei que não tem uma data limite pra isso, mas bem que ja podia ter acontecido ne, orr...

mas eu quero muito passar por isso. mesmo que, de alguma forma, traga problemas, ainda seria uma experiência sabe. mesmo que nem dure. uma musica de alguem aí que diz "melhor sofrer por amor do que nunca ser amado" (ai de wesley safado nao aguentooo)

acho que vou escrever especificamente sobre isso depois.

The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed 4.5/5 - this book is about Rodney King which i sadly didnt even know about, and i wish to do research on it. that said, its only 4.5/5 bc the marvel-like humour in the book really pissed me off (e.g, a serious or touching moment would be cut off suddenly by some dog shit joke or one liner)

Fourth World by Lyssa Chiavari 3/5 - i was excited for this bc its a not well known book with asexual rep but unfortunately that didnt really come out in this first book. i'll continue the series to see it. writing wasnt great

On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden 3.5/5 - i really love the art jules was the very annoying comedy relief character... every single thing she said was an attempt to be funny and it was . well very fuckin annoying. i dont think her character was serious for a second. throughout this book, (disclaimer, this is probably a ME problem) i couldnt really tell the characters apart... and then mia gets her hair cut, so she looks like two other characters who also have the exact same style of short hair..

The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong 4/5 - review for this is also on my page

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas 5/5 - most classics i bitch about being bloated with filler cause they were paid per chapter, but this book does not waste a single page. its worth all 1.4k pages

Yay! God, so where to start??

There’s my untitled Count of Monte Cristo AU that’s been in my head for a while now!

I need more hellcheer period pieces in my life and this concept makes me squee! I wrote a little about this idea before and have a very rough outline somewhere, but otherwise it’s all in my head!

Same premise as the book/movie: Eddie and Chrissy (Edward and Christina) are in love and engaged to be married. Jason, their childhood friend, is bent with jealousy and frames Eddie for treason. Chrissy is told that he was executed, but instead he’s sent to prison for twelve years.

Chrissy longs to die too, crippled by her grief, but she’s pregnant with his child (a girl named Olivia in this story ahh!) and has no choice but to marry Jason for the survival of herself and her child.

Eddie escapes from prison only to find out that Chrissy not only has forgotten him, but is married to the man who betrayed him and has a child with him.

Angst, treasure hunting, revenge, longing, passion and pain ensue.

I love this idea because I think it’s the first time I could actually write hellcheer as enemies to lovers or well lovers to enemies to lovers again.

Also Jason is the worst.

Donegans hämnd / Cry of the Innocent (1980) [👎🆓] Irländskt actiondrama.

En ding, ding, ding, ding värld / It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) [👍🔁] Underhållande komedi om några oberoende människor som bevittnar en olycka och sedan halkar in på en skattjakt. För tankarna till Hannah-Barberas klassiska "Space Races".

Ett Resande Teatersällskap (2025) [👍🆓🎭] Eva R. sätter upp en gammal klassisk fars (ni vet den där typen Helsingborgs kommun påstod att publiken var trött på) och gör det med äran och viss samtidskritik. [SVT Play]

För Evigt / For Evigt (2023) [👎] Danskt dramadravel som låtsas vara Sci-fi.

Godson, the (1998) [👎🆓] Parodi på klassiska "Gudfadern", saknar både humor och finess. Skickliga Roger Dangerfield i rollistan.

King Kong (1976) [🆓] Är nästan en scen för scen remake av 30-tals klassikern. Och är väl kanske heller varken bättre eller sämre än den.

Monte Christos Son / Son of Monte Cristo (1940) [👍🔁🆓] Behövde "Greven av Monte Christo" en uppföljare? Kanske inte. Ligger det den här Zorrokryddade uppföljaren i fatet? Nä, faktiskt inte.

Starship Troopers (1997) [👍🔁] Ytterligare en satirfilm, denna dock bra och underhållande samtidigt som den känns lite mer aktuell för var gång man ser den.

Task Force 2001 / Spy High (2000) [👎🆓] Ungdomsfilm med en enkel och relativt puckad story. Hade kunnat bli något bra med bättre manus och regi. Nu blir det en relativt dålig film där en hund är bästa skådespelaren.

Trollbunden / Spellbound (1945) [🔁🆓] Faktiskt bättre än jag mindes den, även om jag tycker Hitchcock är aningen översattad. [SVT Play]

Videodrome (1983) [👎] Kul och intressant idé. Bisarr och svårsedd film. Inget man längtar efter att få se om.

Ett (van)hedersomnämndande går ut till filmen The Broken Key (2017), det är inte sällan jag stänger av filmer – men efter 30minuters tittande så kände jag att 1½ timme till av samma dravel inte skulle göra min dag bättre.

I skuggan av Trumpens comeback i vita huset kan man se om "Starship Troopers" vill man ha något mer lättsmält så står Eva R. för ännu en klassisk prestation på scen (om än en ny sådan).

Na Pescia do século XVII, na Itália, a jovem Benedetta Carlini é matriculada por seus pais em um convento teatino dirigido pela abadessa Felicita, para se tornar freira. Dezoito anos depois, enquanto interpretava a Virgem Maria em uma peça, Benedetta teve uma visão de Jesus chamando-a. Um dia, uma jovem camponesa chamada Bartolomea busca abrigo no convento de seu pai abusivo. Benedetta é designada para supervisionar a integração de Bartolomea na vida do convento. Na confissão, Cristina mente ao padre que testemunhou Benedetta infligindo ferimentos na testa. No dia seguinte, o padre obriga Cristina a fazer publicamente as suas acusações. Ao ser questionada pelo padre, Felicita refuta as afirmações de Cristina porque Cristina já havia admitido para ela que, na verdade não viu as feridas sendo autoinfligidas. Benedetta, aparentemente possuída pelo espírito de Jesus, ordena que Cristina se flagele. Felicita mais tarde observa Benedetta e Bartolomea fazendo sexo por um olho mágico nos seus aposentos. Humilhada, Cristina pula para a morte do telhado do convento. Quando uma praga começa a devastar o campo, Benedetta tem uma visão de que Pescia será poupada e ordena que a abadia seja fechada para prevenir infeções. Felicita viaja secretamente para Florença para relatar as indiscrições sexuais de Benedetta ao núncio papal local. Enquanto isso, Benedetta morre repentinamente de causas desconhecidas. Pouco após Felicita retornar à abadia com o anúncio, Benedetta revive, dizendo que estava no céu e viu o destino de todos os presentes. O anúncio, como representante do papa, abre um tribunal de inquérito sobre a conduta de Benedetta.
