Last night I dreamt that I was walking through downtown Ottawa with Fred Durst, and he was speaking very earnestly about music; and he got to Limp Bizkit, and I - not remembering this was his band - was like

“Oh! Hot take, but I had one of their albums, and it was actually kind of good!”

And then Fred Durst was like:

“It was the synthesizer. That’s what sunk us. Too much synthesizer, too soon. The people weren’t ready.”

And mentally, I was like…

I think it was just that ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog-Flavored Water’ kinda sucked; like, even the name was off-putting. And I don’t remember any synthesizers on that album’s (terrible) singles…

But I was trying to be tactful, so instead I said:

“I dunno, I feel like you could’ve done more synthesizers; like, it would’ve been awesome to me if you’d just popped out, yelled ‘WE ARE LIMP BIZKIT!!!’ and then broke into some Flock of Seagulls ‘I Ran’. Like, how awesome would that be? I feel like people would dig it.”
