Over the next few weeks I'm going to cover what wartime weaponized gas does to a person. Everyone knows what is happening in Syria but I think it's important that everyone understands just how cruel these attacks are. Because if we just shrug and say "oh yeah mustard gas is bad" with no understanding of just HOW bad it is, how can we feel motivated to try and protect Syrian refugees? So, Starting with chlorine. Chlorine gas was used widely in WW1 on soldiers in the trenches. Because chlorine gas is heavier than air it doesn't easily disperse. This is an advantage if your enemy is living in a hole in the ground because the gas will just creep right down into the hole with him. When exposed to chlorine gas it reacts with the water in your cells and creates hydrochloric acid which immediately starts dissolving the cells it comes into contact with. This is the same acid that is produced by your stomach with a pH of 1.5-3.5. This is extremely painful. Now unless the victim is covered in water (say from rain) their skin won't really be affected. But all the mucus membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, lungs) will start to burn as the water turns to acid. As the gas burns the inside of the lungs, the aveoli are destroyed which makes breathing very hard. Your body tries to protect you by filling your lungs with fluid to coat your cells and dilute the acid. You also have intense muscle spasms throughout your chest to try and physically expel the gas. Which is also very painful. Survivors of chlorine gas attacks are likely to become blind and have extensive scarring inside their lungs leading to chronic breathing problems for the rest of their lives. Victims either die from the lack of oxygen (asphyxiation) or from the pulmonary edema (fluid in their lungs drowning them). This is important. We know that chlorine gas is bad, we know not to mix ammonia and bleach together. But most people don't know what chlorine gas DOES. Those poor beautiful children in Aleppo had the water in their lungs turned to acid by terrorists. That is what happened in Aleppo. #chlorinegas #war #terrorists #chemistry #aleppo

vamos is from ir, while vĆ”monos is from irse. I've heard both used as imperatives to mean "let's go!," but vĆ”monos is usually only used when leaving. like, you wouldn't say "Ā”vĆ”monos al concierto!" or "vĆ”monos a comer."
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH man I haven't gotten to irse yet! Thanks :)
