News from Southern Africa, 15 June
The President of the National Council of Namibia, Lukas Muha, emphasized the importance of updating laws to reflect the changing financial market environment both locally and globally.
Speaking at a financial event in Swakopmund, Muha called on lawmakers to act quickly to comply and stay at the forefront of the global monetary system.
Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Leonie Dunn, [speaking] at the same event noted the importance of MPs to understand the journey on which Namibia has been around the national anti-money laundering efforts, countering terrorist financing (CFT) and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (CPF), where Namibia is heading to and why it is so important for the country.
2. The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that a piece of legislation, which stripped South Africans of their citizenship if they acquired another nationality, was unconstitutional and invalid.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) had challenged the constitutionality of the legislation on behalf of South Africans who unknowingly lost their citizenship after acquiring a second citizenship.
The ruling was welcomed by the DA, who had campaigned for nine years to overturn the "draconian piece of apartheid legislation".
3. A group of U.S. lawmakers is calling for a U.S.-Africa trade summit planned for later this year to be moved from South Africa over Russia ties.
South Africa has been building a close relationship with Moscow, leading to concerns from the U.S. government and lawmakers.
South Africa is scheduled to host leadership of the BRICS members during this year's summit, which should include Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, despite an arrest warrant issued for him by the International Criminal Court.
See also Reuters report here.
4. A delegation from the UNHCR Southern Africa has arrived in Malawi to discuss the relocation of refugees and asylum seekers with the government.
The government has identified a site in Chitipa to accommodate all refugees and asylum seekers, and Dzaleka camp will be closed.
The new camp will help reduce congestion in Dzaleka, which is currently housing over 50,000 people instead of the initial capacity of 12,000 refugees.
Most refugees in Malawi come from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to sources available on the internet. Other refugees in Malawi come from Burundi, Rwanda, and other countries from the East and Horn of Africa.

The William Stewart Hope for the Hopeless Foundation Bails Out Needy Students in Chitipa
By Alfred Mthandizi
Foundation National coordinator, Levison Mlambya said he decided to donate various learning materials after reading reports that stated students were failing to access quality education due to inadequate materials. Mlambya said his organization decided to come into the area as one way of partnering with Government on the improvement of quality education in the country especially amongst the needy. “It’s true. We are here at Chambo Primary school where hundreds of orphans and helpless school children were receiving learning materials and Bibles free from The William Stewart Hope for the Hopeless Foundation. September 25th is the 90th birthday of its co-founder, William Stewart. We were here again to celebrate his birth day as well.” said Mlambya.
Mlambya said as part of its main objectives of bringing hope to the hopeless people of Malawi through the sharing of God’s Word by having a Bible in every home and through practical acts of charity, the foundation is also distributing Bibles for free to orphans, hopeless and other helpless people throughout the country.
According to Mlambya, so far the foundation has distributed over 200 Bibles in three schools, Bandawe Secondary School, Bandawe Girls Secondary School in Nkhata-Bay and Chisenga Community Day Secondary School in Chitipa as well as to different people from all over Malawi.
The William Stewart Hope for the Hopeless Foundation is a non-governmental organization which is registered with the Ministry of Justice and Constitution Affairs in Malawi on 1st September, 2017.
The organization was founded by William Stewart who is UK based and Levison Mlambya who comes from Ibuluma and Traditional Authority Mwenewenya in Chitipa district after being inspired by his U.K based friend William Stewart, hence the name The William Stewart Hope for the Hopeless Foundation. Mlambya said after recognizing the problems that orphans are facing in Chitipa district and many parts of Malawi, Levison Mlambya has been sourcing learning materials from well-wishers both locally and internationally to give to needy pupils. “As part of celebrating the birthday of a man who inspired me to form the foundation who is also regarded as the co-founder, William Stewart, the foundation has organized several activities in response to the day and amongst the activities was distribution of learning materials and Bibles.
Some of the learning and other materials which organization donated include; over 300 exercise books, 300 pencils, 300 ballpoint pens, soap and other materials to orphans and the helpless in Chisenga Education zone. In attendance during the function include ward councilors, Primary Education Advisor for Chisenga Education Zone, Group Village Headman Ibuluma and surrounding village heads and teachers. “The foundation will soon roll out several projects in Chitipa and other districts in Malawi that are targeting the hopeless like the orphans, elderly, disabled, those living with HIV and prisoners.” said Mlambya.
Meanwhile, the Foundation has appealed for financial and material support from well-wishers both locally and internationally for the foundation to implement its projects.
The William Stewart Hope for the Hopeless Foundation Bails Out Needy Students in Chitipa was originally published on The Malawi Star

Exporter of Spray Dryer in Malawi
Drytech Engineering Systems is a leading Exporter of Spray Dryer in Malawi. We are Based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Drytech Engineering Systems is a Manufacturer, Supplier and Exporter of spray dryers, flash dryers, spin flash dryers, and multi-effect evaporators. Spray dryers quickly remove moisture, often within seconds, to ensure high-quality products. By adjusting the spray nozzle and drying conditions, manufacturers can control the particle size and morphology of the final product. Spray dryers often have advanced temperature control systems to ensure optimal drying conditions without damaging heat-sensitive materials. How does particle size affect the drying process? Particle size impacts drying efficiency and final product quality. Smaller droplets dry faster but may require careful control to avoid aggregation, while larger droplets may need more time to dry thoroughly. What maintenance is required for a spray dryer? Regular maintenance includes cleaning the atomization system, checking for wear on parts, inspecting the heating elements, and ensuring the drying chamber is free of residue to maintain efficiency and product quality. Working Process of Spray Dryers: Atomization: We pump the liquid feed into the spray dryer and atomize it into fine droplets using a nozzle or rotary atomizer. This increases the surface area of the liquid, promoting faster evaporation. Drying: The atomized droplets are then introduced into a hot air chamber. The hot air evaporates the moisture from the droplets rapidly, leaving behind dry particles. Separation: We separate the dried particles from the air using a cyclone separator or bag filter. This process captures the dry product while allowing the moisture-laden air to exit the system. Cooling and Packaging: We cool the collected powder and package it for storage or further processing to ensure it maintains its quality and efficacy. Uses of Spray Dryers: Food Industry Pharmaceuticals Chemical Manufacturing Cosmetics Drytech Engineering Systems is an Exporter of Spray Dryer in Malawi covering locations such as Chitipa, Chilumba, Ekwendeni, Karonga, Likoma, Livingstonia, Mzimba, Mzuzu, Nkhata Bay, Rumphi, Chintheche, Embangweni, Aaron, Chipoka, Dedza, Dowa, Kasungu, Lilongwe, Mchinji, Mponela, Mua, Namitete, Madisi, Nkhotakota, Nkhoma, Ntcheu, Ntchisi, Salima, Balaka, Bangula, Blantyre, Chikwawa, Chiradzulu, Chiwembe, Domasi, Limbe, Liwonde, Luchenza, Machinga, Malosa, Mangochi, Marka, Monkey Bay, Mulanje, Njata, Nkaya, Nsanje, Phalombe, Thyolo, Zalewa, Zomba.
