The Brotherhood just looks at each other for a brief moment. 

Sojourner: Do I look like a homosexual? -asks sarcastically-

Iris: -eyes Sojourner then looks away pursing their lips-  I meeeann… have you seen many gay men?

Sojourner: …. Oh don’t look at me like that!

Chikki: For a man who claims he’s not gay you sure flag like one! Haha! -chuckles-

Sojourner: What is that supposed mean?!!

Iris: -Trying to hide their chuckling- Chikki!! You’re not even part of this blog… be nice!

Chikki: I DO WHAT I WANT! 🖕

Thunderhawk: …. -clears throat- Well… due to the cultural and social landscape of Angel Island, particularly in the Echidnaopolis region, It’s not uncommon for most echidnas to be bisexual in nature…our um societies tend to be more open about such things now a days…  -he looks away scratching the back of his neck rather nervously- 

Locke: -also attempting to avoid eye contact- Erm yes I can uh concur with Thunderhawks’s statement on the matter... … …. why do I feel like you all are eyeing at me…

Chikki: Because you’re definitely gay

Locke: I’m not gay!……I’m bisexual… -he mumbles, his cheeks showing a slight blush- 

Iris: oh word? congrats! :3

Locke: …don’t mention it… 

Sojourner: well I’m definitely not gay… -grumbles-  

Iris: Aw, you wouldn’t date a man Sojourner?

Sojourner: I wouldn’t date anyone, romance isn’t exactly my thing. 

Iris: oh, interesting! So you don’t have a romantic or sexual attraction to people in general?

Sojourner: Woah hey now, I wouldn’t go that far -smirks-

Thunderhawk: yeeeah you are no where near asexual father… -side eyes Sojourner-

Sojourner: Isn’t Athair one of them too? That boy’s always been odd. 

Thunderhawk: -sighs at Sojourner- You know Athair is just a lot more open minded about things and such. I guess the pansexual label would be fitting for him but he’s just very open about people and different experiences in general. 

Iris: Oh cool! I’m pan too! -beams happily- 🤩

Sabre: Please for the love of Aurora don’t speak his name too loudly… He might just show up and tell us all about his experiences...

Iris: What about you Sabre? Are you any flavor of gay?

Sabre: I… don’t believe I’m any 'flavor' of anything… I don’t really have any interest of the sort…especially considering the unfortunate reality that I would outlive any potential partner anyways..

Iris: Thaaaat’s pretty valid actually…

Sojourner: Ha! You are like the total opposite of your old man Sabre.

Sabre: -Just sighs, looking away to be distracted by literally anything else-

Chikki: -nods over at Specter gesturing with their head- What about you big guy, you gay or what?

Spectre: My partner’s identity or sexual orientation is irrelevant to the way that I would feel about them. If all parties are in agreement to each other's romantic or sexual interests, that’s all that matters on the subject. The same sentiment extends towards my family. My feelings towards them won’t falter solely due to the way they choose to identify as or their engagement in their romantic and even sexual endeavors. Ultimately, what they do in their private lives are none of my concern, they are adults after all.  

Iris: Aww that’s...so sweet actually🥹

Chikki: That’s gay.

Spectre: -shrugs- If having love and acceptance for my family is considered gay then so be it. -he places a hand on Thunderhawk’s shoulder giving him a brief supportive pat-

Thunderhawk: -looks at his grandfather and gives him a sheepish smile, appreciative of his supportive gesture-

Also the biggest shout out to @julie-su's gay cake Spectre, this image lives rent free in my head I freaking love this piece so much. Originally I was just going to draw my own version of Spectre being a supportive grampa but somehow it ended up being a part two of a meme comic and Iris and Thundy got involved, but I love it waayyy too much!

Wishing you all a good pride, express yourself, love yourself because you are valid and loved, don't let anyone tell you otherwise💖

Hey, did you guys know anything about the previous guardians? or depending on certain things, did some of you get to meet them? What were they like? o:

Thuderhawk: Well we- 

 “Oh Chaos, I got this Boyo!” Hawking, currently the eldest in the household, rolls in on his wheelchair.

Hawking: I believe that I could provide some insight on this inquiry!

Thunderhawk: Grandfather, I don’t think that’s a good idea, you should be resting instead…

Iris: Yeah Gramps you aren’t even a part of this blog :V

Chikki: -screaming in the distance- She doesn’t even go here!

Iris: I mean neither do you, but you’re still here I guess… 

Chikki: PFFFT! fight me hoe!

Hawking: Oh nonsense! I still have some energy in me to answer a question about my dear family. 

“Now let’s see…I guess I could start with my own father Mathias, he was quite the interesting chap he was. We worked closely together during our tenure as active Guardians at the time, making sure that the Island stayed safe and well taken care of. I guess that all guardians have their own skill they specialize in right? He always had a great skill of attunement with chaos energy, very skilled, very centered. Oftentimes I would find him just meditating in his free time, studying the meditation methods of the guardians that came before him. 

As he became older, wiser, his abilities continued to sharpen even if his physical body did not. When he lost his sight he was still able to perceive the world around him through his chaos abilities, he even still kept on with his Guardian duties. In the end not even death had a hold of him as he appeared to become one with the chaos force….”

Hawking stared off for a moment a gentle smile creeping on his face, a soft chuckle escaping his lips, reminiscing on an old memory. With a cough he brings himself back to focus, continuing on.

“Then there was my grandfather Jordan he was… hmm… quiet? Introverted perhaps. Very proud of his work as guardian and incredibly self reliant, yet he always kept to himself for the most part. He was soft-spoken and quite kind, but could just come across as odd sometimes… 

A few times I’d catch him spending time alone in the Island’s wilderness; talking to himself  like he was having a conversation with someone but nobody was ever there…. Great grandpa Rembrandt used to light hardly joke that he had an imaginary friend, but.. we gave the man some grace… after the loss of his brother from a young age he just… had his own way of dealing with things I suppose… although…father always had his theories that his conversations weren’t necessarily one sided…”

Hawking let out a small sigh, resting a pensive hand on his chin, for a moment lost in his thoughts. Noting the momentary silence he clears his throat, giving Thunderhawk a sheepish smile. 

“Ah, you know what grandson I believe you were right, I think I aught to get me some rest… but um always delight to share a little bit of our family’s history with you all.”

Hm I wonder if you guys sometimes put aside your serious work, and what kind of jokes, playful ones, you make against each other?

(and why do I imagine Sojourner being the victim of most of them-?)

-Chuckles- Oh dear you have no idea! As much as we appear to be stern we’re still family, all work and no play does no one any good even us Guardians. Some of us are more playful or light hearted around each other, no offense to grandfather Spectre, but he’s a bit too stern for jokes..

My father, Sojourner, however has been the main perpetrator of jokes, almost like it’s been his life-duty to make my life insufferable. Growing up he always made it a habit to give me a hard time or joke with me, all in good fun but still a pain. 

He’s the only one that I have seen poke fun at Grandfather and joke around with him, with varying degrees of success of course.

You’d think age would take it out of him but oh no, he lives for it! Although… Since we’ve gained some new company with Iris and their bird friend there’s definitely been some rather…amusing developments.

HILARIOUS! -He grins stifling a laugh- 

I have never seen anyone get under my father’s skin so deeply over the smallest of things too! I thought my father was a master at horsing around with people but this bird has it down to a fine art. 

Needless to say that things around here have gotten a lot more entertaining with our new companions. Even Iris brings out a couple of laughs out us with their wit. 

Sometimes all you need is a good hardy laugh to make things feel alright.

Spectre phases back into the room, but rather than wearing his typical robed attire he now wears an elegant set of clothes, simple and dark in color. He sticks his hands in his pockets in an attempt to look casual, it was quite apparent that he wasn't used to this style of clothing.

Sojourner is mid getting a new cup of coffee when he spots his father in his peripheral, doing a double take, initially mistaking him for another one of those interdimentional weirdos. His jaw noticeably drops, and so does his coffee mug at his father’s appearance. 

Spectre: …Suppose, you don’t approve?

Sojourner: I… don’t think I’ve ever seen you in pants… -he looks at Spectre top to bottom in disbelief-

Spectre: I’m positive you’ve seen pictures before, I used to wear outfits such as these commonly a very long time ago, although… that was prior to your birth...

Chikki: ….So…You mean to tell me, that you unironically looked like Bruce Wayne in your youth? 

Spectre: Young adulthood in particular, and I guess you could interpret my clothing choices as such, although I have a disinterest in the character.

Iris walked in rather distractedly “hey where did Spectre g-“ they stop mid sentence, just staring at Spectre like a deer in headlights, a blush creeping on their face. 

Chikki knowing Iris’s facial expression all to well flew over to them, landing on their head to bother them playfully.

Chikki: What do you think of his edgy outfit?

Iris: -still struggling to find their words- Uh um great, he’s great, I mean he looks great….. looks good on him.. -their face noticeably turns redder as their crow friend chuckles- 

Thunderhawk: Wow! Looking good grandfather! -he smiles at Spectre approvingly.

Spectre nods at Thunderhawk appreciatively, yet he couldn’t help but think about his outfit choices throughout the decades. While he cleaned up nicely it was’t really always his deliberate choice to do so. He had grown to have a way with keeping up with appearances, to conceal the harsh details of his youth. It wasn’t until the incident that led him to change his lifestyle completely, subsequently embracing the non conformity of his new attire. His helmet and his carefully crafted robes, concealing most of his body; he’d grown to see them as a form of personal comfort for him. 

Spectre: Iris, you may inform your friend this was an interesting experience but I much prefer my robes. I create my robes after all, they have a quality to them that can’t be replicated by store-bough clothing, they serve to have a functional purpose as well. 

Iris now even more visibly flustered being called out by name, just gives Spectre a nod and a thumbs up in acknowledgment, before he turns to leave. Phasing back into thin air, disappearing to his room to change into a more comfortable set of robes.

Dear Iris and Guardians. What is your favourite colour?

Iris

Oooh~ That’s a tough one! I LOVE colors especially in my art, I love gold and ocher yellows, Green especially the more earthy mossy shades, and I’m a sucker for pastel pink! 

Sojourner

I like yellow and green, especially like uh.. military type green. 

Thunderhawk

My favorite color would have to be pink and cerulean -smiles-

Its a shade of blue, like a sky blue

I like maroon and white, especially combined, looks rather nice

(An echidna pokes his head in...throw portal? this must be becoming a regular thing now) You fuckers need a wardrobe update DESPERATELY, you know that right? Iris honey you need to throw them into some better clothes. "SETH GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE"

Sojourner: Man, that guy sucks… my clothing choices are fine just as they are, simple and practical! -tugs on his vest with a bit of pride-

Chikki: Perfectly practical to get pissed on sure.

Sojourner: What was that? 

Chikki and Iris chuckle quietly to themselves

Thunderhawk: I don’t know, maybe he's up to something…a little change might be nice actually. -examines his clothes playfully-

Sojourner: …You just want to play dress up don’t you, son?

Thunderhawk: -looks off to the side giving his father a playful smile- Whaat? It might be fun…

Locke: …At least I have variety in my wardrobe.

Chikki: Damn, you have 2 sets of bathrobes?!

Iris: -tries hard not to laugh-

Locke: >:C -gives a defeatedly annoyed sigh-

Spectre has a contemplative look to him, just something about that echidna seemed so familiar yet so foreign to him. Something about his words oddly resonated with Spectre; he turns, phasing into thin air and teleporting to his room instantly, where he goes over to his closet...
