African-Americans hail UK royal wedding

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Hometown and racial pride fired up royal wedding watchers across the United States on Saturday, from pre-dawn partiers wearing pajamas and fancy hats in Los Angeles to Twitter posts from Miami to Indianapolis hailing “the blackest royal wedding the U.K. has ever seen.”

Television broadcasts of Prince Harry tying the knot with Hollywood actress Meghan Markle, who is biracial, drew cheers from crowds who had gathered in the otherwise dark outdoor courtyard of Cat & Fiddle pub in Los Angeles long before dawn.

Excitement revved up with each gesture acknowledging African-American heritage – from the fervent sermon of Reverend Michael Curry to a choir singing black spirituals to the performance of cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the first black musician to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year award.

“This little light of mine sung by a black choir to end the royal wedding. I am LIVING,” tweeted Morgan Palmer, an African-American college student in Athens, Georgia.

Markle, whose African-American mother was her only family member attending the wedding, has emerged as an inspiration to some black Americans who see her new social status as proof that life does not have to be limited by preconceptions and arbitrary social boundaries.

Curry’s sermon touched on America’s painful history of slavery and civil rights struggles to emphasize the power of love. Curry, the first African-American bishop of the Episcopal Church, quoted from Dr Martin Luther King and “There is a Balm in Gilead,” a spiritual sung by slaves during the Civil War.

Social media lit up with posts from across the United States expressing pride for the recognition and respect for black culture.

“This was officially the blackest royal wedding the U.K. Has ever seen. A black cellist and a gospel choir singing ‘Lean On Me’ as they walked out of the church! Come thru Meghan!” tweeted @MrAnthonyBlack, a blogger from Miami, Florida.

“As a Methodist Pastor I really enjoyed the royal tradition of the wedding ceremony mixed in with the black church,” Dr Charles Harrison, senior pastor of Barnes United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, wrote on Twitter.

At the pub, Leslie Thurston of Los Angeles, who is African-American, listened to the crowd laugh at royal family members’ apparently staid reaction to Curry’s spirited speech.

“I loved the very authentic, down-to-earth, deep message that he gave about the power of love,” Thurston said. “There were a lot of interesting reactions but that doesn’t mean they didn’t like it. Let’s embrace the differences and be as one.”

The lively pub crowd enjoyed pints of English beer, royal-themed cocktails and British favorites like sausage rolls and scones with clotted cream.

Popular tipples included the “Bloody Harry,” billed as a modern take on the Bloody Mary, but with added ginger as a cheeky nod to Prince Harry’s red hair, and the Markle Sparkle – prosecco with elderflower liqueur to represent the couple’s elderflower wedding cake.

Chezere Brathwaite, 50, who lives in Los Angeles but is originally from London, cheered the ceremony for combining modernity and ancient rituals.

    “I’m glad that they put both cultures into the ceremony. It was a bit fire and brimstone for those back home,” she said.

African-Americans hail UK royal wedding

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Hometown and racial pride fired up royal wedding watchers across the United States on Saturday, from pre-dawn partiers wearing pajamas and fancy hats in Los Angeles to Twitter posts from Miami to Indianapolis hailing “the blackest royal wedding the U.K. has ever seen.”

Television broadcasts of Prince Harry tying the knot with Hollywood actress Meghan Markle, who is biracial, drew cheers from crowds who had gathered in the otherwise dark outdoor courtyard of Cat & Fiddle pub in Los Angeles long before dawn.

Excitement revved up with each gesture acknowledging African-American heritage – from the fervent sermon of Reverend Michael Curry to a choir singing black spirituals to the performance of cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the first black musician to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year award.

“This little light of mine sung by a black choir to end the royal wedding. I am LIVING,” tweeted Morgan Palmer, an African-American college student in Athens, Georgia.

Markle, whose African-American mother was her only family member attending the wedding, has emerged as an inspiration to some black Americans who see her new social status as proof that life does not have to be limited by preconceptions and arbitrary social boundaries.

Curry’s sermon touched on America’s painful history of slavery and civil rights struggles to emphasize the power of love. Curry, the first African-American bishop of the Episcopal Church, quoted from Dr Martin Luther King and “There is a Balm in Gilead,” a spiritual sung by slaves during the Civil War.

Social media lit up with posts from across the United States expressing pride for the recognition and respect for black culture.

“This was officially the blackest royal wedding the U.K. Has ever seen. A black cellist and a gospel choir singing ‘Lean On Me’ as they walked out of the church! Come thru Meghan!” tweeted @MrAnthonyBlack, a blogger from Miami, Florida.

“As a Methodist Pastor I really enjoyed the royal tradition of the wedding ceremony mixed in with the black church,” Dr Charles Harrison, senior pastor of Barnes United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, wrote on Twitter.

At the pub, Leslie Thurston of Los Angeles, who is African-American, listened to the crowd laugh at royal family members’ apparently staid reaction to Curry’s spirited speech.

“I loved the very authentic, down-to-earth, deep message that he gave about the power of love,” Thurston said. “There were a lot of interesting reactions but that doesn’t mean they didn’t like it. Let’s embrace the differences and be as one.”

The lively pub crowd enjoyed pints of English beer, royal-themed cocktails and British favorites like sausage rolls and scones with clotted cream.

Popular tipples included the “Bloody Harry,” billed as a modern take on the Bloody Mary, but with added ginger as a cheeky nod to Prince Harry’s red hair, and the Markle Sparkle – prosecco with elderflower liqueur to represent the couple’s elderflower wedding cake.

Chezere Brathwaite, 50, who lives in Los Angeles but is originally from London, cheered the ceremony for combining modernity and ancient rituals.

    “I’m glad that they put both cultures into the ceremony. It was a bit fire and brimstone for those back home,” she said.

Das Kaspische Meer ist der größte See der Erde.

Unter dem Seeboden befinden sich insbesondere bei Baku sehr große Reserven an Erdöl und Erdgas. Geologen vermuten zwischen 15 und 50 Milliarden Barrel Erdöl auf dem Grund und an den Küsten des Kaspischen Meeres.[8] Optimistische Schätzungen lauten auf bis zu 100 Milliarden Barrel, die einen Wert von fünf Billionen US-Dollar verkörpern sollen.

In der Kara-Bogas-Bucht wird Salz abgebaut.

Der Kara-Bogas-Gol ist eine flache, ausgedehnte Lagune am Ostufer des Kaspischen Meers in Turkmenistan. Das Wasser hat eine Tiefe von 4–7 m und weist, bedingt durch starke Verdunstung, einen extrem hohen Salzgehalt von bis zu 34 % auf. Die Wasserfläche beträgt etwa 18.400 km².

Der Golf wird von Norden und Süden durch zwei schmale sandige Landzungen abgetrennt, zwischen denen ein schmaler Kanal hindurchführt. Hier strömte früher das Seewasser mit großer Geschwindigkeit in den Golf. 1980 wurde in diese Mündung ein Damm gebaut, um nach der jahrzehntelangen Senkung des Wasserspiegels im Kaspischen Meer dessen weiteres Absinken aufzuhalten. Damals war noch nicht bekannt, dass der Wasserspiegel seit 1978 wieder anstieg und die Maßnahme deshalb überflüssig war.

Nach dem Dammbau kam es zur völligen Austrocknung der Lagune und zur Umwandlung in eine Salzwüste. Diese gefährdet durch Deflation (Windabtragung) des Salzes die umgebende Umwelt. Außerdem war der Abbau der Glaubersalzvorkommen nicht mehr möglich. Da der Einbau von Schleusen in den Jahren 1985–1991 nicht ausreichte, um die Situation wesentlich zu verbessern, wurde der Damm 1992 wieder beseitigt. Das Ansteigen des Kaspischen Meeres sorgt dafür, dass die Lagune sich wieder mit Seewasser füllt. Seit 1996 gibt es am Grund des Kanals wieder eine Gegenströmung, so dass nicht nur Wasser vom Kaspischen Meer in den Kara-Bogas-Gol strömt, sondern auch schwere Salzlake aus dem Kara-Bogas-Gol in das Kaspische Meer gelangt.

Der Kara-Bogas-Gol hat auch wirtschaftliche Bedeutung. In der Lagune befinden sich die größten Glaubersalzvorkommen der Welt, ferner Kochsalz, Magnesium- sowie Bor- und Kalisalze, die in großem Umfang von der chemischen Industrie weiterverarbeitet werden.

Anrainerstaaten und Satellitenaufnahme des Kaspischen Meeres

Der Salzsee liegt in West-Asien und im äußersten Osteuropa ohne natürliche Verbindung zu den Ozeanen innerhalb der großen Aralo-Kaspischen Niederung. Im Norden grenzt er an Russland und Kasachstan, im Osten an Turkmenistan, im Süden an den Iran und im Westen an Aserbaidschan.

Der internationale Status des Kaspischen Meeres ist bis heute nicht endgültig geklärt. Deshalb wurde von den Anrainerstaaten, Aserbaidschan, Iran, Kasachstan, Russland und Turkmenistan 1992 die Kooperationsgemeinschaft Kaspischer Staaten gegründet. Ziel ist ein Abkommen zum Schutze und zur Nutzung des Kaspischen Meeres.

Vor diesem Schritt gab es nur zwei gültige Verträge aus den Jahren 1921 und 1940 zwischen dem Iran und der Sowjetunion zur Regelung der Schifffahrt und der Fischerei. In ihnen wurde das Kaspische Meer als Binnengewässer mit dem Recht der gemeinsamen Nutzung definiert.

Die neuen Anrainer Aserbaidschan, Kasachstan und Turkmenistan sehen darin für sich eine Benachteiligung und möchten, dass das Kaspische Meer als internationales Gewässer behandelt wird. Hintergrund dieser Forderungen sind vor allem die Förderrechte für Erdöl und Erdgas.

Käme es zu jenem Status, den Russland und der Iran favorisieren, würde es zu einer Aufteilung der Bodenschätze unter den Anrainern zu gleichen Teilen kommen. Käme jedoch – entsprechend der überwiegenden Meinung der Völkerrechtler – das internationale Seerechtsabkommen von 1994 zur Geltung, hätte jeder Anrainer das alleinige Recht der Ausbeutung seiner Zone. Unterstützung finden die drei neuen Anrainerstaaten durch die westlichen Staaten und deren Mineralölkonzerne, die keine Beteiligung Russlands oder des Irans möchten. Die Staaten konnten sich bis heute nicht einigen, bei der Erschließung neuer Erdölfelder sind sich die neuen Staaten mittlerweile auch nicht mehr einig.

Im Kaspischen Meer befinden sich zahlreiche Inseln. Die meisten sind klein und unbesiedelt, aber es gibt auch einige besiedelte. Viele der Inseln nahe Aserbaidschan sind wegen ihrer Erdölvorkommen bedeutsam.

So hat die Bulla-Insel vor der Küste Aserbaidschans bedeutende Erdölvorkommen. Gleiches gilt für die Pirallahı-Insel. Hier fand die erste Ölbohrung im Kaspischen Meer statt und hier gab es auch einen der ersten Erdölfunde in Aserbaidschan.

Nargin, die größte Insel in der Baku-Bucht, ist ein früherer sowjetischer Militärstützpunkt. Aschūradeh liegt am östlichen Ende der Miankaleh-Halbinsel nordöstlich der Gorgan-Bucht nahe der Iranischen Küste. Aschuradeh wurde durch einen Kanal von der Halbinsel getrennt.

Verschiedene Inseln, speziell nahe Aserbaidschan, erlitten durch die Ölproduktion enorme Umweltschäden, beispielsweise Dasch Sirja, obwohl dort immer noch Robben leben.

Im Nordosten des Kaspischen Meeres liegen die Tjuleni-Inseln (Robbeninseln).

Vor der Küste Dagestans liegt die Insel Tschetschen und die Robbeninsel.

Einige Inseln liegen vor der Küste des Wolgadeltas und gehören zu Kalmückien und zur Oblast Astrachan, bzw. zum Gebiet Atyrau in Kasachstan.

Die Inseln, die zu Russland gehören, wie Werchni Oseredok, liegen in der Grenzzone der Russischen Föderation und können nicht betreten werden.

El proyecto de UFO nace en 1990 con la unión artística de dos DJ’s japoneses, Toshio Matsuura y Tadashi Yabe , a los que se suma el productor francés Raphael Sebbag.

Los primeros trabajos del trío se centran en sesiones de música electronica en la capital nipona así como colaborando con otros pinchadiscos locales. Debutan en 1991 con el doce pulgadas “I Love My Baby (My Baby Loves Jazz)”, un año después lanzan “Loud Minority/Moon Dance” y en 1993 por fin elaborarán su primer disco convencional, “Jazzin’ 91-93″. Le seguirán No Sound Is Too Taboo, Stolen Moments , 3rd Perspective y Bon Voyage .

Nuestro disco propuesto, 3rd Perspective nos parece excepcional. Los UFO nos sumergirán en el mundo de las conspiraciones, de los espías, de los círculos de poder; todo ello con una factura cinematográfica y fondos espectaculares de big band. Ademas viajaremos con ellos a ambientes de cine negro francés e incluso a clubes exóticos de La Habana. Difícil catalogar o incardinar la música de UFO ¿ acidjazz, trip-hop electrónica? … lo importante para el que escribe es que su sonido abre nuevas vías para reformular quien sabe si el futuro del jazz.
