2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison AEV Edition Off-Road in Maine
Chevrolet says the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison AEV Edition is “America’s ultimate off-road beast.” After driving it on and off road for a full week in Maine, America on the Road Co-Host Chris Teague has no reason to question that somewhat boastful assessment. After all, the truck not only uses the still-new Chevy Colorado platform, but it also enhances that platform with a number of…

got any favorite cars from the 24 hours of lemons? (and perhaps some facts about them)
Sure, but not before explaining to the audience!
So, you know how, when you start your car, you turn the key and it starts, and you don't have to fiddle around trying to get the air/fuel mixture to make the damn thing run and stop embarrassing you? And how it has disc brakes, halogen lightbulbs if you've got the standard version and a wing if you've got the sporty one? Yeah, this is all thanks to the century-old 24 Hours of Le Mans, so coveted by manufacturers as to push them to develop all those innovations which would later trickle down into sportscars. They made two movies about it. It is, without question, the most prestigious, serious and expensive endurance race ever.
And this is the 24 Hours of Lemons - without question, the least prestigious, serious and expensive endurance race ever.
It is most famous for the rule that ensures that: to keep you from racing anything but a lemon, a beater, a crapcan, a piece of... well, by now even the unaware have figured out what lemon means in the car world, there is a budget cap. To be precise, $500. Yes, that includes both car and performance enhancing modifications - but notably exempt are safety equipment and decorations. I say notably because decorations are a key component of the Lemons atmosphere in a way I consider best conveyed by a "progressively gets worse" slideshow.
Yes, these are all real vehicles that raced. As you can imagine, regulations are pretty lax. And mostly vibe-based.
So, now that we're up to speed, my favorites!
Favorite as in greatest job from the team? Probably (although I am biased) the Eyesore Racing Miata.
youtube
And since you asked for some fun facts, I have a little treat for you that even the typically impeccable Donut Bumper (or lack thereof) to Bumper (or lack thereof) video about it missed out on:
The team won Lemons' coveted Best Use Of Dangerous Banned Automotive Technology award (yes that is a thing) by cleverly reusing the motor that used to drive the pop-up headlights!
youtube
Favorite as in coolest car used? That might be a tossup (i.e. I am not going to wait for the undoubtedly long list of cooler base cars to shower my mind so I will call it a tossup) between the Chrysler Conquest ran by multiple teams though Lemons' history (specifically the TSis for their sexy flared fenders)...
... and B-Team Racing's Lotus Elite (seen here in two of its many liveries) which, due to its newfound Chevy engine, earned it the name Chotus. Why yes there's a website.
Favorite as in most beautiful car used? That might be a tossup between French Foreign Legion Action Team's Peugeot 505...
...or the engine-swapped second generation Chevrolet Corvair Coupe of... wait, multiple teams?
Favorite in terms of most beautiful decorations? That might be a tossup between the Honda Accord of Stanford students team Buck Ferkeley...
...and SilverSleeve Racing's incredibly-engined frankensteined Wolseley Hornet (for when a Mini is just not coupe nor posh enough)
Favorite as in greatest combination? That might be a tossup between two incredibly different interpretations of sportscar + truck: the Boneyard Butchers' mix of Saturn Sky and Chevrolet Colorado -the more you look at it, the harder it goes-...
...or the Porsche Honkeys' outstanding take on the popular Porsche 944 + V8 recipe that came when they decided to use the rest of the Chevy C10 they got for the engine: the Mulletmobile.
youtube
Favorite as in the bravest, most heroic, most Lemons feat? Well, given Lemons started as a way to experience racing without the pressure and expectations of high-tier stuff and eternally heralds the notioon that a racecar is any car you race, how could I ever go with anything but the far-too-slow-for-any-steadiness-to-remedy, Cali-bought-and-roadtripped-to-Kansas Toyota motherfucking Chinook.
Favorite as in favorite team name? I doubt it, but here you go: Off To Gay Porn. They called themselves this to ensure everyone who beat them could proudly say they beat Off To Gay Porn! And as you could notice, yes, so many of them are this good.
youtube

Chevrolet S-10 Compact Pickup Concept
What if...Chevrolet wanted to make a statement as the return of a compact truck to the American markets? Featuring an array of engine configurations from a 2.0L or 2.5L inline 4 cylinder motor as well as a 2.8L V6 with an optional 2.5L diesel motor. Paired with either a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission and capable of being all wheel drive or rear wheel drive. Later would be introduced the first ever compact fully electric pickup with impressive towing capacity and range. With it's compact size, it would mainly be a focused on the single cab configuration but later would introduce an extended and crew cab reminiscent of the old model. With it size being smaller than the Colorado and sitting lower it would not be ideal for complete off-road capabilities. However, it would leave it open to be customized by aftermarket enthusiasts to develop their own suspension kits for the compact truck.

THE UAW ARE STRIKING AGAINST THE BIG 3 DETROIT AUTO COMPANIES
What is the UAW striking for?
The auto workers union is seeking a significant boost in wages (they requested 40%), job security and a return of regular cost-of-living adjustments and pensions among other things. The companies want to limit the rise in labor costs at a time when they are also spending money to invest in a transition toward electric vehicle production.
Which UAW plants are on strike?
Ford Michigan Assembly Plant (Final Assembly and Paint only) in Wayne, where it builds the Ranger midsize pickup and the Bronco SUV. Michigan Assembly was formerly called Michigan Truck Plant.
Stellantis Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, where it makes its popular Jeep Wrangler, Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Gladiator pickup.
General Motors Wentzville Assembly in Missouri, where it builds the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickups and the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans.

Thousands of members of the United Automobile Workers union went on strike Friday at three plants in three Midwestern states in what was the first strike simultaneously affecting all three Detroit automakers. The union and the companies — General Motors, Ford Motor and Stellantis, the parent of Chrysler — remained deadlocked in negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement when the current contract expired at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday. As the deadline neared, workers started to fan out at the targeted plants — in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio — to protest. At the outset, the strike will idle one plant owned by each automaker, and could force the automakers to halt production at other locations, shaking local economies in factory towns across the Midwest. “We are using a new strategy,” the union’s president, Shawn Fain, said in a video streamed via Facebook on Thursday night. “We are calling on select locals to stand up and go out on strike.” In the 88 years since it was founded, the union has called strikes aimed at a single automaker, and a handful have halted production for several weeks. G.M. plants were idle for 40 days in 2019 before the company and the union agreed on a new contract. The plants designated for walkouts on Friday represent only a small portion of all the unionized factories of G.M., Ford and Stellantis and of those companies’ 150,000 U.A.W. members. This limited strike, however, could hamper the automakers because the sites produce some of their most profitable trucks, such as the Ford Bronco sport utility vehicle and the Chevrolet Colorado pickup. And Mr. Fain has made it clear that the walkout could grow wider if contract accords remain elusive. “This is certainly a different approach, and Fain is talking tough and has got tough proposals,” said Dennis Devaney, a former member of the National Labor Relations Board who is a labor lawyer in Detroit. The affected plants include a G.M. plant in Wentzville, Mo., that makes the GMC Canyon as well as the Colorado, and a Stellantis complex in Toledo, Ohio, that makes the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler. At Ford’s Michigan Assembly plant in Wayne, which makes the Bronco alongside the Ranger pickup, only workers from the assembly area and paint shop will walk out, Mr. Fain said. The G.M. plant employs 3,600 hourly workers, according to the union, and the Stellantis plant 5,800. The union said about 3,300 workers at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant would be affected. The union has demanded a 40 percent wage increase over the next four years, pointing out that the compensation packages for the chief executives of the three companies have increased about that much, on average, over the last four years. Mr. Fain, who took office as union president this year, has also called for cost-of-living adjustments that nudge wages higher in response to inflation, shorter workweeks, improvements to retiree pensions and health care, and job security measures like the ability to strike at plants that are designated for closing. In addition, he wants changes to a wage scale that starts new hires at about $17 an hour and requires eight years for them to climb up to the top U.A.W. wage of $32 hour. So far, the manufacturers have met Mr. Fain about halfway on wages but have opposed almost all of the other demands.

Spidertrax WHS007 Black Wheel Spacer Kit Best for: Toyota and Lexus owners seeking high-quality spacers to upgrade their stance, improve handling, and accommodate larger tires for off-road adventures. Wheel spacers are a popular aftermarket modification that can improve your vehicle’s stance, performance, and ability to handle larger tires. Whether you drive a truck, SUV, or off-road vehicle, choosing the right wheel spacers can dramatically affect how your vehicle handles and performs. In this comprehensive buyer guide for Best Wheel Spacers of 2025, we will walk you through the key factors to consider and highlight top products on the market, based on thorough reviews and consumer feedback. Key Factors to Consider When Buying Wheel Spacers 1. Hubcentric vs. Lugcentric Spacers Hubcentric Wheel Spacers are designed to match the hub of your vehicle, ensuring a perfect fit and reducing vibrations. These are often considered the best choice for everyday drivers as they provide stability and a more secure fit. Lugcentric Wheel Spacers are centered by the wheel studs rather than the hub, which can sometimes lead to vibrations. They are generally less expensive but may not be ideal for vehicles under heavy use or high-performance driving. Recommendation: For daily driving, off-roading, and towing, always go for hubcentric spacers. If price is a major concern, lugcentric spacers can be a viable option, but make sure they are compatible with your vehicle. 2. Material and Build Quality The durability of your wheel spacers is critical, especially if you use your vehicle for towing, off-roading, or other high-stress activities. Most high-quality spacers are made from 6061-T6 forged aluminum because of its strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance. Steel spacers are also available, but they are heavier and could affect suspension performance. Recommendation: Choose wheel spacers made from forged aluminum like the FLYCLE spacers for a strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant solution. 3. Spacer Thickness Spacer thickness determines how far out your wheels will sit from the hub. Thicker spacers (2 inches or more) provide an aggressive look and better stability but can put extra strain on your vehicle’s suspension components. 1-1.5 inch Spacers: These are ideal for clearing brake calipers and providing minor enhancements to wheel stance. 2-inch and Above: Perfect for a more aggressive stance and wider tires but be aware that they may lead to faster wear on suspension components such as ball joints. Recommendation: For moderate daily driving, a thickness of 1-1.5 inches is often ideal. If you’re after an aggressive stance, 2 inches or more will work but consider the additional wear on your suspension. 4. Compatibility Compatibility is key when choosing wheel spacers. You must ensure that the bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch match your vehicle. For example, the FLYCLE 6×5.5 Hubcentric Wheel Spacers are compatible with popular vehicles like the Silverado 1500 and Tahoe, thanks to their 6×139.7mm bolt pattern and 78.1mm hub bore. Recommendation: Always check your vehicle’s specifications, including bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch, before purchasing. A mismatch could lead to unsafe driving conditions. 5. Stud and Lug Quality The quality of the studs and lugs can impact both the longevity and safety of your wheel spacers. Higher-grade studs such as Grade 10.9 or 12.9 offer the strength needed to withstand the forces placed on the spacers. Recommendation: Always choose spacers with high-quality Grade 12.9 studs, like those found on the ECCPP 6×135 Hubcentric Wheel Spacers, to ensure durability and safety. 6. Ease of Installation Many wheel spacers come with everything you need for installation, including thread-locking compounds and detailed instructions. However, some users have noted that improper installation can lead to issues such as broken studs or poor performance. Recommendation: Look for spacers that are easy to install and come with comprehensive instructions and necessary accessories. Ensure that the spacers have clear torque specifications like the 85-90 lbs recommended for FLYCLE spacers. 7. Warranty and Customer Support A good warranty provides peace of mind when purchasing wheel spacers. Look for products that offer at least a 1-year warranty and have a strong track record of responsive customer support. Recommendation: Choose products with solid customer service and long-term warranties. For instance, FLYCLE wheel spacers offer a 2-year warranty, and their customer support is often praised for swift problem resolution. 8. Cost vs. Quality As with most aftermarket parts, you often get what you pay for with wheel spacers. Cheaper options may use lower-quality materials or have weaker studs, which can compromise safety. On the other hand, high-end spacers are typically made from premium materials and undergo more rigorous testing. Recommendation: If you’re serious about performance and safety, invest in higher-quality spacers, even if it means spending a bit more upfront. However, mid-range spacers, like the FLYCLE spacers, can offer a good balance between cost and quality. Safety Tips for Wheel Spacer Installation Proper Torque: Always torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications. Over or under-tightening can lead to failure, as seen with some users of the dynofit spacers. Recheck After Driving: After installation, re-torque the spacers after driving 50-100 miles to ensure they haven’t loosened. Use Thread Lock: Many kits, like those from FLYCLE and Orion Motor Tech, include thread-locking compounds to secure the spacers. Always use these to prevent loosening over time. Inspect for Wear: Regularly inspect your spacers, studs, and suspension components for signs of wear, especially if you frequently carry heavy loads or drive off-road. Here we’ve shortlisted the top 5 wheel spacers for 2025

🚀 #MotorMonday

CBiBank Research Department: The Big Three stated that the strike is "unnecessary" and they are "extremely disappointed".
By Phil Nicholas
Recently, senior U.S. government officials visited Detroit, hoping to mediate a reconciliation between labor and management. The union stated that the current strike is just the beginning and will expand in the future, primarily aiming to disrupt the production schedules of car manufacturers. The "Big Three" automakers believe that the strike is unnecessary. General Motors claims to have offered the best conditions to its workers in the company's 115-year history, while Ford began temporary layoffs due to disruptions in its supply chain.
It is understood that Ford has laid off more than 600 workers, and reports suggest that the strike wave will disrupt the normal operation of at least 3,000 job positions.
At midnight Eastern Time on Friday, September 15, labor negotiations between the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the Big Three automakers failed, initiating a major auto industry strike across several states.
After the midnight deadline for the new contract, workers at a Ford plant in Michigan producing the Bronco SUV, a General Motors assembly plant in Missouri making the Chevrolet Colorado pickup, and a plant in Struthers, Ohio, producing the Jeep Wrangler, all went on strike. Together, these three factories account for 9% of North American car production.
The UAW stated that starting the strike at a few factories instead of a full-scale rollout aims to methodically cut down the number of profitable vehicles produced by these companies while minimizing the impact on the UAW strike fund. The UAW will increase strike locations based on the progress of negotiations.
President Biden remarked that American auto companies have not fairly shared their record-breaking profits with union members, but he hopes they can reach a "win-win agreement". He said, "Nobody wants a UAW strike. The UAW and car manufacturers are still hard at work negotiating a labor agreement, and I appreciate that. I hope all parties can return to the negotiating table and come to an agreement. Due to the exceptional skills and sacrifices of the workers, car companies have made record-breaking profits in recent years. In my opinion, these profits have not been fairly shared with workers."
Regarding the strike, the Big Three stated that the strike is "unnecessary" and they are "extremely disappointed".
General Motors CEO Mary Barra expressed her dissatisfaction with the strike, saying that the company's latest offer to the union is the best in its 115-year history. General Motors proposed a 20% pay raise over four years, a cost-of-living allowance, and subsidies for current pension recipients. Barra also stated that GM would build electric vehicle power units in its existing plants, ensuring jobs for workers in the era of electric vehicles.
Struthers expressed its "extreme disappointment" that the UAW leadership refused to participate in negotiations. The company claimed that the union took "almost no action" on the initial demands, warning that this could provide additional momentum for non-union competitors like Tesla and Toyota.

U.S. auto industry in turmoil, historic strike may cause huge losses
Yun Shang Hui Xin Limited
youtube
On September 15, U.S. time, 12,700 workers of the United Auto Workers (UAW) held historic strikes simultaneously at three factories in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.
The reason for the strike is that the labor contracts between about 150,000 American auto workers and the three automakers General Motors, Ford and Stellantis Group have expired, and the labor and management parties have not reached an agreement. This is the first time in more than 80 years since the founding of the United Auto Workers that auto workers have staged a strike against the three automakers mentioned above.
Public information shows that the UAW is one of the largest workers' associations in the United States. There are as many as 146,000 UAW union members in General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis Group, accounting for approximately 56% of all workers in the U.S. auto manufacturing industry.
The strikes were initiated at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Wentzville, Missouri, which produces Chevrolet Colorados, GMC Canyons and other models; and at the Stellantis Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio, which produces Jeep Wrangler models; and the Ford Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, which produces the Ford Ranger and Bronco models.
Sean Fein, president of the United Auto Workers Union, said that although a larger "general strike" has not yet been held, if the labor and management cannot reach a new contract, then "any option is possible."
The general strike by the three major automobile manufacturers will have an impact on the automobile market and supply chain. The most direct impact is that the factories of these three car companies have stopped production, extending the delivery time of automobile products and reducing inventory, which will cause damage to automobile sales revenue. Oxford Economics predicts that if the nearly 150,000 unionized workers at the three companies end up going on strike, the move could halt about one-third of U.S. vehicle production, put pressure on the labor market and push up new car prices.
The automobile industry chain is long, and the strike will have a chain reaction on the supply chain. The U.S. automotive industry's supply chain is complex and extensive, including hundreds of suppliers and manufacturers. The strike will disrupt the supply chain and cause significant disruption to parts supply and vehicle production. Jeff Schuster, head of global automotive business at consulting firm GlobalData, said that a strike at one engine or transmission plant of each car company would be enough to shut down nearly three-quarters of U.S. assembly plants.
The historic strike by the United Auto Workers union not only threatens the automobile industry, but also has a serious impact on the overall stability of the U.S. economy.
The automobile manufacturing industry occupies a pivotal position in the U.S. economy and is one of the country's largest manufacturing sectors. According to a study by Michigan-based consulting firm Anderson Economic Group, a 10-day strike by the Big Three could result in more than $5 billion in economic losses. The automobile industry (including foreign-funded enterprises doing business in the United States) accounts for about 3% of U.S. GDP, and the strike will also affect the U.S. economic performance for some time to come. The Toledo plant of Jeep Motor Company, a subsidiary of the Stellantis Group, alone may suffer losses of up to US$380 million due to a week of closure. In 2019, the UAW went on strike against General Motors for six weeks, involving 48,000 workers in more than 50 factories. General Motors suffered losses of up to $3.6 billion, and Michigan experienced a single-quarter economic recession.
In the new negotiation agreement, the UAW hopes that the three auto companies will provide a 40% salary increase for auto workers; it also requires that all workers be provided with welfare pensions, a 32-hour work week and additional cost-of-living benefits, and the elimination of temporary workers and the tiered wage system, etc. . Top assembly workers, for example, will see their wages rise from the current $32 an hour to $47 an hour. Since it will significantly increase labor costs, the three car companies believe that the union's demands are unrealistic.
Currently, the automobile industry is in the process of electrification transformation. Major automobile companies have increased investment in the field of electrification. The increase in labor costs will intensify the pressure on automobile manufacturers. GM President Mark Reuss said the union's wage and benefit proposals would put GM up to $100 billion in cost pressures. This cost estimate is more than twice the current total value of GM, and GM cannot afford this burden.
Ford also said in a statement that the UAW's latest proposal would double its labor costs, and the company would face the dilemma of being unable to compete effectively with non-union opponents, especially Tesla. "If the plan proposed by the UAW is followed, Ford's labor costs will be significantly higher than those of Tesla, Toyota and other foreign-owned automakers in the United States. These automakers use non-union represented labor."
According to the plan proposed by the union, combined with wages and benefits, the labor cost of the three major automakers is approximately $64 per hour. According to previous foreign media reports, the all-inclusive labor cost at non-union assembly plants of Toyota Motor and other international automakers is US$55 per hour. Tesla's labor costs are even lower, at $45 to $50 an hour.
YSHX
It is worth noting that Tesla CEO Musk has long been outspokenly opposed to labor unions. He believes that labor unions will drag down corporate efficiency. After the strike, Musk tweeted: "The wages I pay to workers are higher than what the UAW wants. The performance requirements are also higher. Over the years, our factory has had many technicians working on the production line. , became a millionaire by holding stock options in the company.”
To solve the problems caused by this historic strike, both labor and management need to restart contract negotiations and actively find common solutions. This requires compromise and flexibility on both sides to meet the reasonable demands of workers while ensuring the competitiveness of car companies.
