Rimworld Deserters: Day 1 - Day 3
Tumblr media
May I introduce you to: Our three starting soldiers.
The Fallen Empire has begun its colonization of a large chunk of the Rimworld known as Porrima Tertiary. Many of the factions that once called this planet home have either been exterminated by the Empire or forced to move on to distant worlds, while those who remain try in vein to reclaim their turf. Amidst this turmoil emerges a shining star of hope for the people of this world, a faction of former soldiers, medics, and civilians who have pledged to their dying breath to eliminate the Imperial parasite spreading across the cosmos.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately their efforts have grown more difficult in recent years. The Empire's awareness of the threat they pose has led to countless bloodshed and hardship, causing the faction to splinter and spread across the globe in the hopes that they can lay low long enough to regroup and continue the fight. This is where our story begins:
Elliot De Covas - 27 Years Old: At a young age Elliot was forcibly drafted into an Imperial Youth Training Program. The lack of personal choice made him drag his feet at every opportunity, but the freetime he garnered from refusing to participate helped out his social skills and made him into a natural leader, albeit with a big of a swollen ego. In his early adulthood he made the brave decision to desert the Imperial army and join the up and coming resistance group known as The Wings of The Free Bird.
Zachary "Zach" Mclean - 36 Years Old: Zach was born a sickly child and spent most of his youth safely quarantined in the hospital, where he learned many things about the world of science and medicine, although none of it actually interested him that much. Being stuck in that hospital alone for so much of his youth gave him a few loose screws, but nonetheless he was excited for the day when he received his Bionic Heart and was able to build up his strength like he never could before. Unfortunately this led to him being drafted as one of the Empire's Shipcrackers, where he would break through the hulls of enemy ships and slaughter the entire crew singlehandedly. The stress led him to a bit of a drug problem, which eventually led him to also desert the Empire when the opportunity arose.
Lars Mechtenberg - Age 34 biologically, chronologically he's 134: Lars was a normal kid living in the Empire when he found a secret door in his grandfather's antique shop. No one is really sure what happened next, or if anything happened at all, all that is known is that around 100 years later Lars was found inside of a Cryptosleep Casket with no memory of what exactly he went through. Almost immediately after being pulled out of the casket, Lars was instructed in the art of medicine and forced to become an Infantry Medic. Just like the other two, he became dissatisfied with this life and deserted his position.
We spent day 1 not really doing much besides cleaning up the small outpost that would become our new HQ, and gathering some resources around the area. The only noteworthy thing that happened was it actually rained on the first day in an Arid Shrubland.
On day 2 we started working on a small water transport system and a bathroom cause, well, big boys gotta shit sometime. Elliot and Lars also had a small conversation it the breakfast table. Elliot's quickly making friends with the men who will eventually help him take back the planet (if they don't die in the process of course).
Tumblr media
The bathroom came along nicely, just need to work on some plumbing and it'll be all set to use
Tumblr media
On day 3 we finished up the plumbing so we can finally stop shitting outside and washing up in the water fountain.
Tumblr media
(Ignore the dead cheetah)
Tumblr media
Something I plan on doing real soon is breaking into THIS little wall right here and taking on whatever might be inside. With any luck we can recruit the guys in the Cryptosleep pods to our cause.
Tumblr media
Something smaller I also did today was build a chess table to keep our guys from going mad with boredom. Or next plan is to build some hot water tanks so they don't have to take cold showers. Although why anyone would want a hot shower in the desert is beyond my understanding.
Also if someone can explain to me why I can't seem to get the Lars to plant anything in our hydroponics base I would be eternally grateful thank uuu

How Google’s AlphaChip is Redefining Computer Chip Design
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/how-googles-alphachip-is-redefining-computer-chip-design/
How Google’s AlphaChip is Redefining Computer Chip Design
The evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing how we work, learn, and connect, transforming industries around the globe. This shift is primarily driven by AI’s advanced ability to learn from larger datasets. While bigger models boost AI’s data processing power, they also require more processing power and energy efficiency. As AI models become more complex, traditional chip design struggles to keep pace with the speed and efficiency needed for modern applications.
Despite the advancements of AI algorithms, the physical chips that run these algorithms are becoming bottlenecks. Designing chips for advanced AI applications involves balancing speed, energy consumption, and cost, often taking months of careful work. This growing demand has exposed the limitations of traditional chip design methods.
In response to these challenges, Google has developed an innovative solution for designing computer chips. Inspired by game-playing AIs like AlphaGo, Google has created AlphaChip, an AI model that approaches chip design as a game. This model is helping Google create more powerful and efficient chips for its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Here’s how AlphaChip works and why it’s a game-changer for chip design.
How AlphaChip Works
AlphaChip approaches chip design as if it were a game board, where each component placement is a calculated move. Imagine the design process like a game of chess, where each piece requires just the right spot for power, performance, and area. Traditional methods break chips into smaller parts and arrange them through trial and error. This can take engineers weeks to complete. AlphaChip, however, speeds this up by training an AI to “play” the design game, learning faster than a human designer.
AlphaChip uses deep reinforcement learning to guide its moves based on rewards. It starts with an empty grid, placing each circuit component one by one, adjusting as it goes. Like a chess player, AlphaChip “sees ahead,” predicting how each placement will affect the overall design. It checks for wire lengths and spots where parts might overlap, looking out for any efficiency issues. After completing a layout, AlphaChip gets a “reward” based on the quality of its design. Over time, it learns which layouts work best, improving its placements.
One of AlphaChip’s most powerful features is its ability to learn from past designs. This process, called transfer learning, helps it tackle new designs with even more speed and accuracy. With each layout it tackles, AlphaChip gets faster and better at creating designs that rival—even exceed—those by human designers.
AlphaChip’s Role in Shaping Google TPUs
Since 2020, AlphaChip has played a vital role in the design of Google’s TPU chips. These chips are built to handle heavy AI workloads, like the massive Transformer models that drive Google’s leading AI initiatives. AlphaChip has enabled Google to keep scaling up these models, supporting advanced systems like Gemini, Imagen, and Veo.
For each new TPU model, AlphaChip trains on older chip layouts, like network blocks and memory controllers. Once it’s trained, AlphaChip produces high-quality layouts for new TPU blocks. Unlike manual methods, it constantly learns and adapts, fine-tuning itself with each task it completes. The latest TPU release, the 6th-generation Trillium, is just one example where AlphaChip has improved the design process by speeding up development, reducing energy needs, and boosting performance across every generation.
The Future Impact of AlphaChip on Chip Design
The development of AlphaChip shows how AI is changing the way we create chips. Now that it’s publicly available, the chip design industry can use this innovative technology to streamline the process. AlphaChip allows intelligent systems to take over the complex aspects of design, making it faster and more accurate. This could have a big impact on fields like AI, consumer electronics, and gaming.
But AlphaChip isn’t just for AI. Inside Alphabet, it’s been vital for designing chips like the Google Axion Processors—Alphabet’s first Arm-based CPUs for data centers. Recently, its success has grabbed the attention of other industry leaders, including MediaTek. By using AlphaChip, MediaTek aims to speed up its development cycles and boost the performance and energy efficiency of its products. This shift signals that AI-driven chip design is becoming the new industry standard. As more companies adopt AlphaChip, we could see major advances in chip performance, efficiency, and cost across the board.
Besides speeding up design, AlphaChip has the potential to make computing sustainable. By arranging components with precision, AlphaChip reduces energy use and cuts down on the need for time-consuming manual tweaks. This results in chips that consume less power, which, in turn, can lead to significant energy savings in large-scale applications. As sustainability becomes a core focus in tech development, AlphaChip signifies a crucial step toward the goal of creating eco-friendly hardware solutions.
Challenges of AI-Driven Chip Design
While AlphaChip represents a breakthrough in chip design, AI-driven processes aren’t without their challenges. One significant hurdle is the immense computational power required to train AlphaChip. Designing optimal chip layouts relies on complex algorithms and vast amounts of data. This makes AlphaChip training a resource-intensive and sometimes cost-prohibitive process.
AlphaChip’s flexibility across different hardware types has limits. As new chip architectures emerge, its algorithms may need regular adjustments and fine-tuning. While AlphaChip has proven effective for Google’s TPU models, making it work seamlessly across all kinds of chips will require ongoing development and customization.
Lastly, even though AlphaChip produces efficient layouts, it still needs human oversight. While AI can generate impressive designs, there are minor details that only an experienced engineer might oversee. Chip layouts must meet strict safety and reliability standards, and human review helps ensure nothing important is overlooked. There’s also a concern that relying too much on AI could result in a loss of valuable human expertise in chip design.
The Bottom Line
Google’s AlphaChip is transforming chip design, making it faster, more efficient, and more sustainable. Driven by AI, AlphaChip can quickly generate chip layouts that enhance performance while reducing energy consumption in computing applications. But there are challenges. Training AlphaChip demands significant computational power and resources. It also requires human oversight to catch details that AI might overlook. As chip designs continue to evolve, AlphaChip will need regular updates. Despite these hurdles, AlphaChip is leading the way toward a more energy-efficient future in chip design.

Incredible Brain Sciences Research in 2023!
Tumblr media
Machines with superhuman skills may surpass the human brain sooner than thought, sparking heated debate and conjecture this year. AI awareness increased substantially when ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs) gained popularity. It also questioned if the human brain sciences can keep up with AI’s rapid advances.
The most kind response suggests that there’s no reason why people and machines have to be fierce rivals. By using AI to explore the infinite complexity of the ancient game of Go, which, like chess, has seen a computer defeat the best human players, researchers were able to find one example of potential cooperation. A March study demonstrated how humans could pick up knowledge from machines possessing such extraordinary abilities.
Furthermore, comprehending ChatGPT’s extraordinary capabilities helps explain why there is a persistent comparison made between the trillions of connections in the human brain sciences and the deep neural networks that power the well-known chatbot.
Crucially, mainstream neuroscience is still actively seeking new understandings of the brain sciences , which has been dubbed “the most complicated object in the known universe,” despite machine learning being a part of AI. The public display of experiments in June that examined the viability of two opposing theories both of which aim to explain the foundations of the conscious self paid tribute to one of the great difficulties facing science in its quest to comprehend the nature of consciousness.
You have a ton of amazing advancements to file away in your working memory from the last 12 months. Here’s a closer look at a few of the notable pieces about the mind and brain sciences that Scientific American published in 2023.
AI RUNS A MACHINE THAT deciphers brain sciences contents Combining a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) brain image with AI-driven LLMs to understand a person’s brain sciences showed the potential of AI with neuroscience. At the University of Texas at Austin, the model pretty accurately reconstructed scanner stories. When the individual listened to specific words, the researchers monitored brain sciences activity.
An AI model was then trained using the scan data to identify patterns in the way the brain sciences responded to these phrases. Then the system collected fresh scan data, and the AI made predictions about what a person would hear during those scans based on its training. Since such deductive accomplishments need a great deal of training, it might be some time before you can purchase this kind of equipment on Amazon. The current method can only give you a general idea of what’s going through your mind.
GO INSPIRE BETTER GAMEPLAY VICTORIES When Google’s DeepMind unit’s “superhuman” AI beat Go champion Lee Sedol in 2016, it caused a stir among people concerned about what this kind of dominance would mean for humans (who had previously lost to machines in chess). Some researchers decided to investigate the specific ways in which Go players responded to losing.
The results, which were released in March, provide hope for how humans and AI systems could interact in the future: According to the study, the Go community saw Sedol’s loss as a teaching moment. Upon examining the program’s movements, these gamers found that a few had never been seen in human gameplay. They then used those movements as an example of an AI-human interaction in their own games, which enhanced the gameplay experience for humans and provided insights into how such partnerships could enhance human decision-making.
By 2048, will they have a final understanding of consciousness? The result of a 25-year wager between neuroscientist Christof Koch and philosopher David Chalmers made headlines across the globe. The question of whether neuroscience would be able to provide a “clear” neuronal signature of consciousness by this year was settled during a meeting held at New York University in June. Koch, who believed 25 years ago that the consciousness signature would be QED by now, had to grudgingly concede that this ambitious objective remained unfulfilled.
After giving Chalmers a case of expensive wine, he promised to look into the issue again in 25 years to see if any further “clarity” had been attained regarding hacking consciousness. The outcomes of tests meant to evaluate two prominent theories of consciousness were also presented at the conference; it was decided that much more work is needed on both of them.
Getting rid of negative thoughts improves your mood AI is not the only topic in the brain sciences. Clinical psychologists have accomplished excellent work without always requiring the assistance of an LLM. One easy step you may take at home is to stop any negative ideas that might be running through your mind. Researchers at the University of Cambridge in England found that the notion that if you ignore upsetting thoughts and visuals, they would eventually come back to haunt you is unfounded. For those who suffer from trauma, depression, or anxiety, this is wonderful news. The intensity of one’s inner anxieties does appear to decrease when this negative flow is suppressed.

The Rise of Esports: A Revolution in Competitive Gaming
Esports, which stands for electronic sports, has taken the world to the forefront in recent times altering the nature of online gaming. There is no longer a time when video games were merely an entertainment activity; now they are a legitimate sport, complete with top players, huge tournaments, as well as a dedicated worldwide fan base. Esports has not only captured the hearts and minds of fans, but it has also attracted the attention of major corporates, investors and traditional sports associations. In this piece we look into the world of esports by exploring the rapid growth of the sport as well as the issues it is facing as well as the effect that it is having over the gaming industry and beyond.
Tumblr media
Esports, in its simplest form, involves professional gamers competing in video games of various types, typically in organized leagues and tournaments. Though competitive gaming has been around from the beginning of arcade cabinets and home consoles The turning point in esports came with the advent of online multiplayer gaming, as well as live streaming platforms like Twitch. The platforms made it possible for players to broadcast their gameplay in front of a large audience around the world, laying the foundation for the emergence of esports as spectator sports.
Esports gamers, sometimes called "pro gamers," are the foundation of this phenomena. They dedicate their time working on their skills improving their reflexes and implementing strategies that are comparable to the strategies of grandmasters of chess. The regimen of training and discipline required are on par with any traditional sport, dispelling any notion that games on video can be viewed as a leisure activity. This group of athletes play at the highest levels with their team and countries with pride. To gather new information kindly go to www.phoneswiki.com/best-fps-games/
Nowadays, the esports business is an enormous financial success that is predicted to exceed $3 billion in 2025. This booming growth can be attributable to multiple streams of income. Advertising and sponsorship deals are coming in from both native (related with gaming) and non-endemic organizations (from other industries than gaming). The partnerships have resulted in anything from jerseys with branded teams and commercials for important tournaments.
Despite the fact that it has been a huge success, it is not without its set of issues and controversy. Issues such as player burnout, performance-enhancing drugs, and allegations of cheating have plagued the industry. The fast growth of the industry has raised concerns about sustainability, with questions arising about the long-term survival of some games or organisations. Esports has also been grappling with issues regarding diversity and inclusion and is currently working to build an open and inclusive community for all gamers. This kind of challenge is element of the development of all sports, and how esports navigates them will shape its future.
Tumblr media
The esports industry continues to change it's future is more promising than ever. Traditional sports franchises are increasingly investing in esports teams, creating a blurring of the two worlds. Educational institutions are offering scholarships to esports athletes, and recognizing their potential to make a career within the field. Esports arenas and training facilities are currently being constructed across the globe offering players the latest infrastructure to develop their skills. Further, virtual reality and augmented reality are poised to revolutionize the spectator experience by providing fans with immersive opportunities to interact with their most loved games.

Re-draw of [this] because to this day I still have a lot of love for the idea that in his downtime John visits various Universities across the globe - giving Astrophysics lectures and talks with bright, upcoming astronauts of all nationalities about life in space, Laser Communications and his discovery of the LucilleX10-37 .
He gets flustered and flushed with a pleased, embarrassed kind of pride when they quote his dissertations back at him (including the one Scott likes to appreciatively use as a doorstop), quizzing him on the finer details of the Tracy Quasar and his extensive studies on growing plant-life in space.
Tumblr media
John often has to bring along the glasses that Brains made for him to correct the short term shift in atmospheric pressure that happens within his, like any astronaut’s, eyeballs when going between Earth and Orbit. He’s been presented with fine print by more than one student that he couldn’t read, and so he’s started keeping them in the top pocket of his suit jacket at all times, just in case.
Scott likes to say they make him look the part, but John’s only really worried about looking professional. Tie straight, cuffs pressed. His Father’s reputation and the Tracy name shadows over all of the boys no matter where they go and John would hate to do anything to tarnish that.
He’s not thrilled about the attention he gets within scientific circles, but he has to admit that he is doing some groundbreaking stuff aboard Thunderbird Five, so it’s only natural that the community is excited about it - whether they know that International Rescue is where he’s creating his results or not. He’s proud of his work, and of the upcoming generation of Astronauts, Engineers and Physicists he’s helping to train - his little brother Alan included.
Plus it’s kind of nice to have a list of names on his HoloComm that he can call when the rest of his brother’s just don’t get why the next penumbral lunar eclipse is so exciting to him. Space nerds have to stick together. He needs to practice his chess so he can beat Eos more often, after all.

Honestly.
Making sure that you have some money saved and better yet in more than one way.
Learning finance.
Checking your mental health and solving all the issues.
Making sure that people all around you are good for you. Don't tolerate behavior that seems unpleasant to you. People can be friends for ages and then move on. It's normal. Move on.
Spread some good thoughts and ideas all around you. A simple calm "Well, don't you think they also deserve rights regardless of their (you know what to put here)?". It can change people's opinion in the long run. It can. And you won't lose your precious time arguing with someone who is only going to get more stubborn. Every person is a person, they might have these opinions because of bad influence around them. Be the good influence if you have the energy for this. You might add another tolerant person into the world, who knows? You might be the part of everything that makes them see the light. Or at least to question everything.
Small steps are creating big results. If you've ever learnt any skill at all, you know this. If you didn't, it's about time to start learning.
Also learn how to keep calm. It's idiotic to be hysterical, doesn't help the people/person you worry about, definitely only harms you.
Train your brain. Always. Learn how to think, how to put yourself into other people's shoes. Never let your brain get wasted. Play chess, for example on the internet. It's good fun.
Have a fucking hobby. How on Earth can people live without one is beyond me.
Have different ways of income.
Have something to live for. Writing, painting, family, friends.
Read important books. Classics. They teach you good stuff. They let you touch the mind of the most intelligent people.
Learn shit you didn't like at school. In certain circles people won't respect you if you don't know some basic facts about life. As in physics, biology, chemistry. It's like writing with grammar mistakes. People close the websites with grammar mistakes.
Also. They made you practise Math because it's a good practice for your brain. It doesn't let it rot.
If you know that there's a maniac on the street who kills women who wear red skirts, don't go on the street wearing red skirt. (It's a metaphor.) You are responsible for your safety. Unfortunately we live in the same world as do terrible people and in order to survive with them right alongside you, you need to be smarter than them. Or at least don't go around asking for this. You'll have only your moral superiority left.
Have a list of reliable news channels. Always two points of view.
Download twitter. People on there are crazy but they learn the news quicker than anyone.
Learn to handle as much of your fears as you can. Start small, then fight it every day.
Do sports, it calms the mind and teaches you discipline.
Don't waste your time on books/articles/films that neither catches your attention, nor make your mind curious.
Be curious. Life is full of interesting things, always follow new routs.
Learn history. Same things as with "things you disliked at school" but the most important thing, I believe, history teaches you is that nothing is eternal under the sun. History also gives you some ground to stand one. Why is your country as it is. If you are a writer/artists, there are so many plots there.
Have some friends across the globe. Otherwise you'll keep thinking that everyone is more different than we are similar.
Computers, computer security, some basic skills.
And above all don't wait with any of this until
Simple people always suffer the most. Don't be too simple.

Chapter 2
Tumblr media
(Happy Reading! Here’s the masterlist cc:)
In a world where everything is at the touch of your fingertips, where you can have access to information from all across the globe with a push of a button, it was no surprise that the world soon found out about his Sobo’s unfortunate death.
Sobo’s death spread like wildfire, with multiple people from around the world sending their condolences, both half-hearted and not. Sobo’s wake was equally as full, with several families paying their respects, from world leaders to other oligarchs and matriarchs.
Several faces came and went, most of which Yuu barely even recognised —with the exception of the Shroud’s once again, he really liked them, though their appearance to such an event when they were manifestations of the god of the underworld was questionable at best. He was glad Hatsuko was doing most of the talking, even though he had to occasionally interact with one of the more —for lack of better term— stuck up and bratty types.
The wake would only be held for one day before they cremated her body. They mainly passed their condolences to the head of the clan, his Sofu, who hadn’t left his wife’s body. His Sobo was laid in a bed of chrysanthemums, and if Yuu didn’t know any better, he would have assumed she was just asleep.
It was sad to know that only death could bring the entire Eshima clan together. Most of which were probably waiting for the release of Sobo’s will apart from actually weeping and grieving. It was rather vile and twisted, but it was the family dynamic, had been for centuries.
Yuu ended up staying in the corner of the room, sitting beside an already sleeping Kalim, who arrived a few hours later. He only interacted when someone asked —just as Hatsuko had instructed, and only during his mother’s insistence— and honestly, preferred talking to Kalim. But he couldn’t do that when said boy was off in dreamland.
He was tempted to walk around, maybe he’d be lucky enough to meet another person his age? Maybe he’d bump into a few people he’d met before. He just...wanted to leave this place. It was suffocating if that made sense, even though nothing was keeping the air from his lungs (He never was good at describing his emotions). He carefully repositioned the sleeping Kalim into a more comfortable position —which was essentially anything that didn’t strain his neck— and motioned for Jamil.
Jamil nodded as he approached Kalim, who had immediately cuddled into Jamil the moment he sat down beside the young Al-Asim. Yuu could feel Jamil’s soul leave his body. Being Kalim’s retainer must’ve been a lot of work, and they were the same age!
Yuu scanned his surroundings for his sister. She would stop him from doing anything, from talking, playing, running out to get fresh air…and he really needed that. He slowly sidled out of the room, following a few people out with him (it was by luck that there were people leaving, it was some family from the Rose Kingdom he never really talked too).
As he stepped onto the cement pavement, feeling giddy that he managed to pull it off, he ran towards the foyer which overlooked the oceans of the place. It was tradition to let the family lay with the elements related to their sign. Since his grandmother was born on the year of the water dragon, it sort of made sense why the wake was being held by the ocean.
Yuu leaned on the railing as he stared at the way the waves crashed against the rocky shore --no one ever said the beaches here were covered in fine white sand-- watching the way the seagulls dove into the ocean, successfully catching fish, squawking in delight.
He brought out a hand and outstretched it towards the ocean, letting the magic within him flow out as he visualised a bunch of snowflakes. He closed his eyes and pursed his lips as curled his hand into a fist before opening it once more. He opened his eyes and smiled to himself as he succeeded. A small flurry of snow surrounded the boy.
“Sobo...may you rest in peace.” He whispered as he shaped around the snowflakes into the silhouette of a dragon, turning his hand into a fist once more. Slowly taking shape of the all too familiar sign, he moved his hand to make the dragon slither around him. “May you guide me-” The flakes of snow stopped haphazardly, suspended in the air before Yuu could finish his sentence.
Yuu blinked as the dragon slowly disintegrated, turning into...sand? Yuu rose a brow as he tried to create the dragon once more but frowned as it turned into sand faster than before. He turned around and met the gaze of a familiar lion, who was deadpanning at the Eshima.
“Minors can’t use magic in public places without a permit, it’s against the law.” Leona yawned as he brought his hand down, placing it on his hips. Honestly, the kid was going to get in trouble if he didn’t do anything.
Yuu decided to ignore Leona’s warning and focused on asking about his magic instead. “Was that elemental magic? Earth right! C-can you teach me how to-” Yuu rambled. His magic was cool, even though it did stop him from casting his own.
Leona sighed. “It’s my unique magic...” He trailed as he set his gaze anywhere but the curious 8-year-old.
Yuu perked. Hatsuko had told him about Leona’s unique magic is dangerous, but what was so dangerous about that! It was cool! Amazing! Powerful! Maybe Hatsuko was just jealous since she didn’t have her own unique magic yet. “That’s so cool!”
Leona felt his soul leave his body. Did he really not get it? He could kill with his unique magic and he calls it...cool? Just what world was this kid living on? He sighed, bringing a hand to massage his temples. “It isn’t cool, it’s dangerous. I- I hurt someone with it, and people hate me for it. Everyone does.” He stated, remembering how he had used it on his nanny.
Yuu paused before raising a brow up. “Did you mean to hurt them?”  He asked curiously. Crossing his arms on his chest.
Leona tilted his head, his ears twitching slightly. “Well no-”
“Then why are they so afraid. It’s not as if you wanted to do it. You don’t seem like the guy who’d hurt someone.” Yuu stated matter of factly.
“It isn’t that simple herbivore-”
“How is that not simple, a while ago you seemed like you had perfect control over it. And you said it yourself, it was an accident, which means it would’ve only happened if you just manifested it.” He shrugged. “They’re just being idiots since they’re scared of it. It’s rare to have magic like that after all.”
Leona sighed for what would be the umpteenth time. “You don’t understand.”
“Well, I don’t understand how someone can be so dumb. It was manifesting. You wouldn’t know how to control it. And then they blame it on you for being unable to control something so foreign. That’s wrong.” Yuu said.
Leona blinked, his tail swishing against Yuu’s leg. “Unique Magic manifests during your most desperate time. Keep that in mind, herbivore.” Leona said as placed his hand on Yuu’s head, lightly ruffling his hair.
Yuu huffed. “Eh, your magic is still cool, and my point still stands. You sound like Jamil-san. Always being so…pestic” He announced.
“Pessimistic.” Leona said with an amused chuckle.
“Yeah that. ” Yuu declared as he brought his gaze to his shoes.
Leona’s ears perked at the sound of other footsteps, the characteristic tap of heels against the concrete in a strict pattern. A sound distinct, yet masked. Leona was aware that he may have overstayed his welcome, or at least with how much he was allowed to be near the kid.
Leona removed his hand from Yuu’s head. “I have to go.”
“Ehhh, but I still want to ask more about your unique magic.”
Leona paused. “Your naivety is going to get you killed one day.” He sighed.
Leona had put a good amount of distance between him and Yuu, and Yuu was confused as to why he had done so. He turned his head and the realisation hit. Right..Hatsuko didn’t like him talking to Leona...or anyone except Kalim, for that matter. But he still wanted to talk to him.
Hatsuko approached her brother, head held high, glaring at Leona but not quite at the same time. A rather intimidating aura surrounded her. “Yuu, the ritual is about to start, as the next heir, you need to be there.” She said as she patted his shoulder, a hint of venom in the way she stressed the word heir.
Yuu felt afraid of his sister, a feeling he hadn’t felt since last year. Leona’s presence was a bit comforting, but they weren’t close like he was with Kalim, so his anxiety was evident. He silently nodded, head downcast. “Yes, niisan.” He said weakly, not wanting to protest to an evidently mad Hatsuko.
Hatsuko smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes. She took her brother’s hand and gently tugged him. Yuu hesitantly followed. His eyes still trained on the floor. Another meeting cut short, once again.
Yuu turned to look at Leona, who was looking at him with a small smirk on his face. “Next time, I’ll teach you how to play chess.” Leona mouthed, hoping that his simple message could be received.
Yuu smiled before turning back to face forward. All he understood was “next time” but that was enough to give him a bit of hope. As he followed Hatsuko obediently, he couldn’t help but wonder.
When was next time?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Kalim yawned as he sat up. Jamil had shaken him awake, saying something about how they were going to start some eulogy or something. Kalim rubbed his eyes as he took in his surroundings. Everyone was seated now, but he could still hear their faint whispers, the murmurs, and the incessant chatter.
“Ryoichi is missing, isn’t that kind of disrespectful considering he’s the first son.”
“Maybe that’s why his son is the next heir.”
“Skipping a generation, he must’ve done some pretty bad things.”
Kalim didn’t understand what they were talking about, then again, he never paid attention. Most of the time he was just there, happily going on about his day, pestering Jamil. Talking with his dad’s multiple wives. Generally just being him. He never really heard about rumours like this.
“It’s a rumour, but they might divorce.”
Jamil looked at Kalim, who was visibly saddened at what he was hearing. Jamil usually let these rumours go through one ear and out the other, so he sort of expected Kalim to do the same. Maybe it was because he cared about Yuu. They were pretty good friends after all.
Jamil already knew that the world he and Kalim were seeing was just a sliver of what was really there. They were just scratching the surface, and quite frankly, Jamil didn’t want to know what underneath.
Asks are highly encouraged! You can even submit a post if you want. Once again, I hope you enjoy reading. I’ll be able to post again in about a week or two cc:

Time for this Tuesday’s Talentswap! Here’s an original talent this time! Introducing Myth, the Former Ultimate Architect!
—————————————————————- BACKSTORY AND TALENT
Ever since Architect!Myth was young, she had two major passions in life: art and aesthetics. While she also has a penchant for fashion and watercolour painting, it’s the art of buildings that really called to her. Due to her wealthy family travelling a lot during vacations, she saw buildings of many different styles and seeks to replicate them all in her sketchbook. She found her true calling when she was asked to sketch a new design for her town’s new daycare. Many of the town’s citizens loved her designs and soon, more and more people came to ask her to design buildings for their various businesses. Her popularity soon spread across the globe, reigniting her interest in traveling. With all the traveling that comes with her popularity, she views her time at Hope’s Peak as a rare chance to stay on solid ground for once. She is now settling down in a self-designed penthouse and trying her best to interact with the colorful denizens of the town.
——————————————————————
RELATIONSHIPS
Wyre Anon, Former Ultimate Comic Book Artist
Myth and Wyre have been best friends ever since grade school, having bonded over their shared love of art. But because of their different career paths and Myth’s regular travels, they’ve grown apart over the years. But ever since they have reunited in Hope’s Peak and are now sharing a penthouse, their friendship has slowly, but surely been revived.
Anon Scar, Ultimate Historian
Anon Scar, or as she likes to call herself, “The Demon of Time”, hasn’t exactly captivated Myth, or as Scar christened her “The Demon of Shelter”, with her constant spiels of time spells and demonic contracts. But they have bonded over their travels, and Scar was definitely impressed by the amount of travels that Myth undertook.
Fusion Anon, Ultimate Storm Chaser
Because of Fusion’s weather-based talent, he regularly warns Myth of upcoming storms and has saved many soon-to-be-built buildings from being demolished by a tornado. He also loves giving Myth rides on his biplane to give her a bird’s eye view of the town’s buildings. But Myth still wonders to this day how Fusion manages to tame his wild mane of hair.
Fusion Anon II, Ultimate Journalist
Myth is still wondering to this day how two unrelated Anons manage to have the same name. This sassy muckraker manages to get some giggles out of the otherwise serious architect with her sardonic social commentary and amusing town gossip. What Fusion II doesn’t know though, is that Myth has some dirt on her too. (Note: She has accidentally called Fusion ”dad” a couple of times!)
Just Anon, Ultimate Train Engineer
Myth’s attempts at socialising with Janon have, quite frankly, been fruitless. This foul-mouthed and listless conductor doesn’t seem to be a fan of socialising with anyone, let alone Myth. But if Fusion II’s testimony is true, he seems to have a bit of a soft side around the Jr. Ultimates.
Sparkle Anon, Former Ultimate Organiser
The normally serious Myth was shook when she saw the state of Sparkle’s penthouse. It’s very clear that Sparkle takes great care in making everything as immaculate as humanly possible. Sparkle is also a great party organiser, making great, if over-the-top, opening ceremonies for Myth’s buildings.
Egg Anon, Former Ultimate Oceanographer and Wet Sock Anon, Former Ultimate Groundskeeper
“The Freak Twins“, as some Anons have coined, aren’t particularly known for their social skills, and it’s not hard to see why. Neither of them understand the concept of thinking before your speak, and they have some really disgusting and cursed thoughts, to which Myth had to have witnessed first hand. At least Wet Sock is good at maintaining the town’s expansive park.
Curious Anon, Jr. Ultimate Carpenter
To say that Myth was surprised when this small and svelte middle schooler made a majority of the wooden buildings and sculptures, would be the understatement of the century. Curious is hospitable and easy to get along with, allowing Myth to socialise with Curious easily. Myth definitely understands why Fusion II thinks Janon has a crush on them.
Anon Nerd, Former Ultimate Golf Pro
Myth found it very hard to socialise with this explosive and confrontational athletic prodigy. For some reason, Nerd’s  face tends to turn bright red when around the architect. He claims that it‘s just his scouter, but Fusion II and Wyre think otherwise.
Eldritch Anon, Ultimate Biochemist
Because Eldritch never leaves his penthouse and his distrusting and paranoid nature towards anyone other than his girlfriend, Myth wasn’t given many opportunities to socialise with him. Most of Myth’s info on Eldritch comes from either his girlfriend or Fusion II’s testimonials.
Dream Anon, Ultimate Ghost Hunter
Functioning as a bit of a conduit between Eldritch and Myth, Myth wonders how someone dealing with the dead on a daily basis manages to be this chipper. Myth recognised Dream from one of Wyre’s favorite reality shows: “NRG: Spirit Busters”. Myth managed to get an autograph from Dream and Wyre‘s happiness skyrocketed through the roof!
Iris Anon, Jr. Ultimate Police Officer
With her optimistic and exuberant attitude, this cheery cop-in-training managed to charm Myth with her clumsy and justice-seeking antics. Myth, in a way, is a bit like a mother figure to Iris, making sure that Iris remains safe and in one piece. Because Iris is a major fan of Wyre’s comic series, Myth managed to get Wyre‘s autograph for her, securing the Myth-Riri friendship for life.
Purple Anon, Ultimate Chess Grandmaster
Because of Purple’s timorous nature, Myth doesn’t socialise much with her. She loves Purple’s gothic lolita ensemble though; it makes Purple look like a little chess piece! Myth is surprised that someone this timid could not only stand up to real chess champions, but to also be this fashion-foward.
————————————————————- APPEARANCE
This professional and serious architect has to also look the part. Architect!Myth wears a maroon overcoat with golden buttons and cuff links, over a white button-up shirt and a red tie with a building design on it. Architect!Myth also wears a matching maroon pencil skirt, black stockings and red Mary Janes. Her pencil skirt is held up by a black tool belt with a golden buckle. Architect!Myth’s hair is up in her signature ponytail, but her pink hair tie contains backup pencils, in case the pencil behind her ear runs out of graphite.  ———————————————————- PERSONALITY
Because creating buildings is such a precise craft, Architect!Myth is more of a seriously-minded perfectionist, obsessively checking and double-checking if she made any mistakes. But because her line of work means that she travels regularly, she doesn’t really get to make or keep many friends. This resulted in Architect!Myth not exactly having the best social skills or awareness of romantic attraction (much to the dismay of Nerd), very much unlike Romantic!Myth. Her more socially-versed drawing buddy, Wyre usually does the talking for her. She’s trying her best to socialise with the town’s denizens though, and this is where her secret dorky side shines through. She also has an odd passion for fashion, and she can be a bit like the Fashion Police when it comes to the more fashionably-challenged citizens of town.
———————————————————-
How do you like Architect!Myth? What do you think of the talents that the other Anons have in this AU? Could you picture Architect!Myth’s friend-making adventures as a full-blown series? See you next Tuesday with a brand-new talentswapped Myth!
-Fusion Anon
I very much like this one! I can definitely picture Architect!Myth’s friendship adventures as a series, haha, you’re really great with those

Hey yall I had a fuckin thought
So, as it’s roughly explained, the state alchemist program is a kind of “recruit potential human sacrifices” mechanism, with a side-order of “brute strength for the army”. But basically, the state alchemist title is mostly about being a researcher--given people like Shou Tucker exist, and given that the only requirement to stay a state alchemist is to submit a yearly report of your research that says “look I’m still being a useful scientist”.
So far, so far this is sensible, yeah? Father and the delightful children from down the lane are running a recruitment program for potential human sacrifices. So sure--butter them up! Give them lots of money, get them buddy-buddy with the government, and give them endless resources for research. It’s be pretty easy to trick a state alchemist in that position to open the portal if Sugar DaddyBradley is nudging them to do it.
And I’m still willing to go with this logic for the whole “draft the state alchemists into war” move. They make it pretty clear that was something of a last-ditch effort. And the blood transmutation circle around Amestris was an absolute necessity for Father’s plan. So the risk of a few state alchemists dying or resigning from your Potential Sacrifice Pool is worth it for the completion of the circle.
Now. To get to my fucking thought.
Edward fucking Elric. This fucking fight-me 12 year old troglodyte shows up to the exam and performs circle-less transmutation in front of mother fucking Bradley, demonstrating to one of the seven Actual Fucking Homunculi that he’d already opened the portal. Ed was literally prepped as a human sacrifice before he showed up to Central. A fully set human sacrifice showed up at the homunculi’s door, said “hey look what I can do!”, proved he’d opened the mother fucking portal already, and said “hey yeah hire me”. Human sacrifice, free shipping, no assembly required, handcuffs not included!
They could have just tossed Ed into a shoebox and kept him there until the Promised Day. They wouldn’t even need to make up an excuse he attacked the f u  c k i n g president. That’s fucking treason babey. He’s 12, he’s an orphan, he’s from a rural town in buttfuck nowhere, he’s literally the easiest person alive to disappear. They could have arrested him for assassination crimes, kept him in gay baby jail, and just popped him out for the Promised Day
What do they do instead?! “Oh lmao this kid’s great. Let’s give him infinite money, no supervision, no governmental responsibilities, access to all our secret resources, and toss him on a train to who-the-fuck-knows-where-land”
They fucking did that
And like? They then had the audacity to be concerned when Edward “Fight Me” Elric almost got himself killed about 293 times. Just an endless game of “I thought u were watching him” from one homunculus to another when Ed fucking absconds half-way across the globe to go entice some other hostile entity into murdering him to death. That’s the whole series. Every arc is Ed baiting death while the homunculi are in the background like “:/ wish he wouldn’t do that”
This only gets worse when you consider they later learned Al opened the portal too because really?? These two stab-happy globe-trotting public menaces are 40% of your final evil plan for godhood. 40%. Almost half. You couldn’t fucking set aside a cardboard box to keep these idiots in?
We all knew Father was terrible at planning when we learned his thousands-of-years-in-the-making-plan involved him procrastinating until the last five minutes to get his last sacrifice, while he was?? playing chess in his fucking basement, I guess. But it’s like every time I think about it like really think about it I find 7 more reasons Father was a fucking shit idiot moron, king of the stupid fucking idiot club, flesh and blood founder of seven other established dumbasses, all living in their idiot hovel under central, just giving random dumbass 12 year olds infinite money, j u s t  b e c a u s e.
