Ravi Zacharias (1946 – 2020)
When Ravi Zacharias was a cricket-loving boy on the streets of India, his mother called him in to meet the local sari-seller-turned-palm reader. “Looking at your future, Ravi Baba, you will not travel far or very much in your life,” he declared. “That’s what the lines on your hand tell me. There is no future for you abroad.” By the time a 37-year-old Zacharias preached, at the invitation of Billy Graham, to the inaugural International Conference for Itinerant Evangelists in Amsterdam in 1983, he was on his way to becoming one of the foremost defenders of Christianity’s intellectual credibility. A year later, he founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), with the mission of “helping the thinker believe and the believer think.” In the time between the sari seller’s prediction and the founding of RZIM, Zacharias had immigrated to Canada, taken the gospel across North America, prayed with military prisoners in Vietnam and ministered to students in a Cambodia on the brink of collapse. He had also undertaken a global preaching trip as a newly licensed minister with The Christian and Missionary Alliance, along with his wife, Margie, and eldest daughter, Sarah. This trip started in England, worked eastwards through Europe and the Middle East and finished on the Pacific Rim; all-in-all that year, Zacharias preached nearly 600 times in over a dozen countries. It was the culmination of a remarkable transformation set in motion when Zacharias, recovering in a Delhi hospital from a suicide attempt at age 17, was read the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible by the apostle John: “Because I live, you will also live.” In response, Zacharias surrendered his life to Christ and offered up a prayer that if he emerged from the hospital, he would leave no stone unturned in his pursuit of truth. Once Zacharias found the truth of the gospel, his passion for sharing it burned bright until the very end. Even as he returned home from the hospital in Texas, where he had been undergoing chemotherapy, Zacharias was sharing the hope of Jesus to the three nurses who tucked him into his transport. Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias was born in Madras, now Chennai, in 1946, in the shadow of the resting place of the apostle Thomas, known to the world as the “Doubter” but to Zacharias as the “Great Questioner.” Zacharias’s affinity with Thomas meant he was always more interested in the questioner than the question itself. His mother, Isabella, was a teacher. His father, Oscar, who was studying labor relations at the University of Nottingham in England when Zacharias was born, rose through the ranks of the Indian civil service throughout Zacharias’s adolescence. An unremarkable student, Zacharias was more interested in cricket than books, until his encounter with the gospel in that hospital bed. Nevertheless, a bold, radical faith ran in his genes. In the Indian state of Kerala, his paternal great-grandfather and grandfather produced the 20th century’s first Malayalam-English dictionary. This dictionary served as the cornerstone of the first Malayalam translation of the Bible. Further back, Zacharias’s great-great-great-grandmother shocked her Nambudiri family, the highest caste of the Hindu priesthood, by converting to Christianity. With conversion came a new surname, Zacharias, and a new path that started her descendants on a road to the Christian faith. Zacharias saw the Lord’s hand at work in his family’s tapestry and he infused RZIM with the same transgenerational and transcultural heart for the gospel. He created a ministry that transcended his personality, where every speaker, whatever their background, presented the truth in the context of the contemporary. Zacharias believed if you achieved that, your message would always be necessary. Thirty-six years since its establishment, the ministry still bears the name chosen for Zacharias’s ancestor. However, where once there was a single speaker, now there are nearly 100 gifted speakers who on any given night can be found sharing the gospel at events across the globe; where once it was run from Zacharias’s home, now the ministry has a presence in 17 countries on five continents. Zacharias’s passion and urgency to take the gospel to all nations was forged in Vietnam, throughout the summer of ’71. Zacharias had immigrated to Canada in 1966, a year after winning a preaching award at a Youth for Christ congress in Hyderabad. It was there, in Toronto, that Ruth Jeffrey, the veteran missionary to Vietnam, heard him preach. She invited him to her adopted land. That summer, Zacharias—only just 25—found himself flown across the country by helicopter gunship to preach at military bases, in hospitals and in prisons to the Vietcong. Most nights Zacharias and his translator Hien Pham would fall asleep to the sound of gunfire. On one trip across remote land, Zacharias and his travel companions’ car broke down. The lone jeep that passed ignored their roadside waves. They finally cranked the engine to life and set off, only to come across the same jeep a few miles on, overturned and riddled with bullets, all four passengers dead. He later said of this moment, “God will stop our steps when it is not our time, and He will lead us when it is.” Days later, Zacharias and his translator stood at the graves of six missionaries, killed unarmed when the Vietcong stormed their compound. Zacharias knew some of their children. It was that level of trust in God, and the desire to stand beside those who minister in areas of great risk, that is a hallmark of RZIM. Its support for Christian evangelists in places where many ministries fear to tread, including northern Nigeria, Pakistan, South African townships, the Middle East and North Africa, can be traced back to that formative graveside moment. After this formative trip, Zacharias and his new bride, Margie, moved to Deerfield, Illinois, to study for a Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Here the young couple lived two doors down from Zacharias’s classmate and friend William Lane Craig. After graduating, Zacharias taught at the Alliance Theological Seminary in New York and continued to travel the country preaching on weekends. Full-time teaching combined with his extensive travel and itinerant preaching led Zacharias to describe these three years as the toughest in his 48-year marriage to Margie. He felt his job at the seminary was changing him and his preaching far more than he was changing lives with the hope of the gospel. It was at that point that Graham invited Zacharias to speak at his inaugural International Conference for Itinerant Evangelists in Amsterdam in 1983. Zacharias didn’t realize Graham even knew who he was, let alone knew about his preaching. In front of 3,800 evangelists from 133 countries, Zacharias opened with the line, “My message is a very difficult one….” He went on to tell them that religions, 20th-century cultures and philosophies had formed “vast chasms between the message of Christ and the mind of man.” Even more difficult was his message, which received a mid-talk ovation, about his fear that, “in certain strands of evangelicalism, we sometimes think it is necessary to so humiliate someone of a different worldview that we think unless we destroy everything he holds valuable, we cannot preach to him the gospel of Christ…what I am saying is this, when you are trying to reach someone, please be sensitive to what he holds valuable.” That talk changed Zacharias’s future and arguably the future of apologetics, dealing with the hard questions of origin, meaning, morality and destiny that every worldview must answer. Flying back to the U.S., Zacharias shared his thoughts with Margie. As one colleague has expressed, “He saw the objections and questions of others not as something to be rebuffed, but as a cry of the heart that had to be answered. People weren’t logical problems waiting to be solved; they were people who needed the person of Christ.” No one was reaching out to the thinker, to the questioner. It was on that flight that Zacharias and Margie planted the seed of a ministry intended to meet the thinker where they were, to train cultural evangelist-apologists to reach those opinion makers of society. The seed was watered and nurtured through its early years by the businessman DD Davis, a man who became a father figure to Zacharias. With the establishment of the ministry, the Zacharias family moved south to Atlanta. By now, the family had grown with the addition of a second daughter, Naomi, and a son, Nathan. Atlanta was the city Zacharias would call home for the last 36 years of his life. Meeting the thinker face-to-face was an intrinsic part of Zacharias’s ministry, with post-event Q&A sessions often lasting long into the night. Not to be quelled in the sharing of the gospel, Zacharias also took to the airwaves in the 1980s. Many people, not just in the U.S. but across the world, came to hear the message of Christ for the first time through Zacharias’s radio program, Let My People Think. In weekly half-hour slots, Zacharias explored issues such as the credibility of the Christian message and the Bible, the weakness of modern intellectual movements, and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ. Today, Let My People Think is syndicated to over 2,000 stations in 32 countries and has also been downloaded 15.6 million times as a podcast over the last year. As the ministry grew so did the demands on Zacharias. In 1990, he followed in his father’s footsteps to England. He took a sabbatical at Ridley Hall in Cambridge. It was a time surrounded by family, and where he wrote the first of his 28 books, A Shattered Visage: The Real Face of Atheism. It was no coincidence that throughout the rhythm of his itinerant life, it was among his family and Margie, in particular, that his writing was at its most productive. Margie inspired each of Zacharias’s books. With her eagle eye and keen mind, she read the first draft of every manuscript, from The Logic of God, which was this year awarded the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) Christian Book Award in the category of Bible study, and his latest work, Seeing Jesus from the East, co-authored with colleague Abdu Murray. Others among that list include the ECPA Gold Medallion Book Award winner, Can Man Live Without God?, and Christian bestsellers, Jesus Among Other Gods and The Grand Weaver. Zacharias’s books have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been translated into over a dozen languages. Zacharias’s desire to train evangelists undergirded with apologetics, in order to engage with culture shapers, had been happening informally over the years but finally became formal in 2004. It was a momentous year for Zacharias and the ministry with the establishment of OCCA, the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics; the launch of Wellspring International; and Zacharias’s appearance at the United Nations Annual International Prayer Breakfast. OCCA was founded with the help of Professor Alister McGrath, the RZIM team and the staff at Wycliffe Hall, a Permanent Private Hall of Oxford University, where Zacharias was an honorary Senior Research Fellow between 2007 and 2015. Over his lifetime Zacharias would receive 10 honorary doctorates in recognition of his public commitment to Christian thought, including one from the National University of San Marcos, the oldest established university in the Americas. Over the years, OCCA has trained over 400 students from 50 countries who have gone on to carry the gospel in many arenas across the world. Some have continued to follow an explicit calling as evangelists and apologists in Christian settings, and many others have gone on to take up roles in each of the spheres of influence Zacharias always dreamed of reaching: the arts, academia, business, media and politics. In 2017, another apologetics training facility, the Zacharias Institute, was established at the ministry’s headquarters in Atlanta, to continue the work of equipping all who desire to effectively share the gospel and answer the common objections to Christianity with gentleness and respect. In 2014, the same heart lay behind the creation of the RZIM Academy, an online apologetics training curriculum. Across 140 countries, the Academy’s courses have been accessed by thousands in multiple languages. In the same year OCCA was founded, Zacharias launched Wellspring International, the humanitarian division of the ministry. Wellspring International was shaped by the memory of his mother’s heart to work with the destitute and is led by his daughter Naomi. Founded on the principle that love is the most powerful apologetic, it exists to come alongside local partners that meet critical needs of vulnerable women and children around the world. Zacharias’s appearance at the U.N. in 2004 was the second of four that he made in the 21st century and represented his increasing impact in the arena of global leadership. He had first made his mark as the Cold War was coming to an end. His internationalist outlook and ease among his fellow man, whether Soviet military leader or precocious Ivy League undergraduate, opened doors that had been closed for many years. One such military leader was General Yuri Kirshin, who in 1992 paved the way for Zacharias to speak at the Lenin Military Academy in Moscow. Zacharias saw the cost of enforced atheism in the Soviet Union; the abandonment of religion had created the illusion of power and the reality of self-destruction. A year later, Zacharias traveled to Colombia, where he spoke to members of the judiciary on the necessity of a moral framework to make sense of the incoherent worldview that had taken hold in the South American nation. Zacharias’s standing on the world stage spanned the continents and the decades. In January 2020, as part of his final foreign trip, he was invited by eight division world champion boxer and Philippines Senator Manny Pacquiao to speak at the National Bible Day Prayer Breakfast in Manila. It was an invitation that followed Zacharias’s November 2019 appearance at The National Theatre in Abu Dhabi as part of the United Arab Emirates’ Year of Tolerance. In 1992, Zacharias’s apologetics ministry expanded from the political arena to academia with the launching of the first ever Veritas Forum, hosted on the campus of Harvard University. Zacharias was asked to be the keynote speaker at the inaugural event. The lectures Zacharias delivered that weekend would form the basis of the best-selling book, Can Man Live Without God?, and would open up opportunities to speak at university campuses across the world. The invitations that followed exposed Zacharias to the intense longing of young people for meaning and identity. Twenty-eight years after that first Veritas Forum event, in what would prove to be his last speaking engagement, Zacharias spoke to a crowd of over 7,000 at the University of Miami’s Watsco Center on the subject of “Does God Exist?” It is a question also asked behind the walls of Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison, the largest maximum-security prison in the United States. Zacharias had prayed with prisoners of war all those years ago in Vietnam but walking through Death Row left an even deeper impression. Zacharias believed the gospel shined with grace and power, especially in the darkest places, and praying with those on Death Row “makes it impossible to block the tears.” It was his third visit to Angola and, such is his deep connection, the inmates have made Zacharias the coffin in which he will be buried. As he writes in Seeing Jesus from the East, “These prisoners know that this world is not their home and that no coffin could ever be their final destination. Jesus assured us of that.” In November last year, a few months after his last visit to Angola, Zacharias stepped down as President of RZIM to focus on his worldwide speaking commitments and writing projects. He passed the leadership to his daughter Sarah Davis as Global CEO and long-time colleague Michael Ramsden as President. Davis had served as the ministry’s Global Executive Director since 2011, while Ramsden had established the European wing of the ministry in Oxford in 1997. It was there in 2018, Zacharias told the story of standing with his successor in front of Lazarus’s grave in Cyprus. The stone simply reads, “Lazarus, four days dead, friend of Christ.” Zacharias turned to Ramsden and said if he was remembered as “a friend of Christ, that would be all I want.” =====|||=====
Ravi Zacharias, who died of cancer on May 19, 2020, at age 74, is survived by Margie, his wife of 48-years; his three children: Sarah, the Global CEO of RZIM, Naomi, Director of Wellspring International, and  Nathan, RZIM’s Creative Director for Media; and five grandchildren. =====|||=====
By Matthew Fearon, RZIM UK content manager and former journalist with The Sunday Times of London
Margie and the Zacharias family have asked that in lieu of flowers gifts be made to the ongoing work of RZIM. Ravi’s heart was people.
His passion and life’s work centered on helping people understand the beauty of the gospel message of salvation.
Our prayer is that, at his passing, more people will come to know the saving grace found in Jesus through Ravi’s legacy and the global team at Ravi Zacharias International Ministries.

Safeguarding your kids from cyber-bullying
Tumblr media
“Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter”
In the era of digitalization, everything is happening digitally, whether it is launching missiles, communication, banking, office-work or buying a pair of flip-flops. To understand cyber-bullying, first, we need to know what is the usage of cyber platforms. Cyber education is necessary to safeguard your kids, in the best schools, there is proper education provided to students so that they beware of cyberattacks. Top admission providers  are adept in providing better guidance to students. It's entirely true that the culture of computers, networks, servers and other information technologies have tightly tied us. We, humans, are utterly dependent on cyber-platforms for our day to day works ranging from social media glamour to worshipping god. The day is not so far when people will get married to the digital world. AI (Artificial Intelligence) - a new specialization in this field is making everything virtually possible, i.e., virtual reality. We all know that where there's a sweet, there are ants. The inference is plausible. Crime evolved in humans from the beginning only whether it is done physically, mentally and now trending one 'digitally'. Whatever may be the reason behind all these crimes, but one thing is sure that is immorality and a spark for lakhs of distracted people out there.
Cyberbullying is the provocation or bullying executed through advanced gadgets like PCs, Laptops, cell phones, and tablets. The stages where cyberbullying can happen incorporate web-based life, talk rooms, and gaming stages where individuals can see and partake in the sharing of substance. The various sorts of cyberbullying include causing mortification through disdainful remarks on online stages/applications, or through SMS or informing. It contains posting, sending or sharing harmful, awful or bogus data about another person for causing embarrassment and character death. Readily availability of data services, free wi-fi zones, social media presence our youngsters are more inclined towards high increasing rates of cyber-bullying in India. If we talk about India, as indicated by an investigation led by Symantec, almost 8/10 people are subjects upon the various sorts of cyberbullying in India. Out of these, around 63% confronted online maltreatment and affronts, and 59% were dependent upon bogus gossipy tidbits and tattled for corrupting their picture. A similar report positions India as the nation confronting the most elevated cyberbullying in the Asia Pacific area, more than Australia and Japan. Truth be told, half of the ladies dwelling in prime Indian urban areas are a casualty of online maltreatment, as indicated by a study by Feminism. Prodded by the expanding instances of cyberbullying in India, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has propelled an unmistakable helpline (grumbling [email protected]) to report cyberbullying, online provocation, and cyber criticism, especially against ladies and youngsters.
Recently a case from Delhi-NCR reported about the "Bois locker room" on Instagram in which teenagers (even below 16 years children) are bullying girls, women etc., abusing them, planning for rape and other vulnerability. When the complete case was investigated, it was found that the admin was a girl kid only, she was cross-checking other boys. And these all millennials are below 16 years of age group. This is just one recent ugly example of the state of cyberbullying in our country. Each day this happens in different forms, and an innocent has to suffer.
Being a parent, it's our utmost duty to check our kids and take some actions in order to safeguard them from this polluted, dirty gateway. In this digital time, kids are growing up with innovation readily available. In this manner, various sorts of cyberbullying have become a family unit event. Young people and youths are progressively helpless against cyberbullying as they have restricted comprehension of the great and the awful. As a parent, it is your obligation to know about your youngster's online exercises so as to forestall cyberbullying. Be discerning of the applications and digital media that your kid is utilizing. It is essential that you guarantee that your kid connects more in disconnected exercises than dependence on PCs, web-based gaming, and cell phones. In the awful occasion of your kid encountering cyberbullying, it is fundamental that you find a way to show your help just as you report cyberbullying.
As a parent, we should make sure that our kids are aware of cyber-laws, IPC sections related to bullying and teasing. Creating a kind of fear in kids will really work in safeguarding kids getting into that zone. Some of the cyber-laws are :
Sec. 66 A, C, D, E; 67 B; 72; 503; 509; 499; 500 etc. of Indian Penal Code are some essential and fundamental sections that one should know nowadays.
Incognito Forensic Foundation (IFF Lab) is a private legal research centre in Bangalore and Chennai that offers conference and digital lawful administrations for cyberbullying. On the off chance that you need any direction on the most proficient method to forestall cyberbullying or report cyberbullying in India, IFF Lab is there to help you.
Also, the GOI has created a separate portal for filing complaints of cyber-crime and cyberbullying. The action will be taken immediately, according to GOI.
For conclusion, I would like to say that cyberbullying is an issue in social orders that are propelled enough to have the innovation to interface with others on the web and isn't easily fixable. Cyberbullying can influence anybody, however, is generally noticeable in the present youth. This will require schools, and particularly parents to know about the issue and follow up on it. Dispensing with cyberbullying will need a consolidated exertion and won't be disposed of overnight. Indeed, even still, parents and schools have to kill and stop this conduct now, at that point laws shouldn't be fundamental. So schools and parents, know about what children are doing on the web and their smartphones and take actions if they are accomplishing something that they shouldn't be.

Virender Sehwag's Controversies
Tumblr media
Seems like diplomacy is not Virender Sehwag’s forte as he tends to live his life on a simple and upfront attitude. But when you are a prominent figure and also represented your country for over 15 years, the controversies surely hit on you at least once in any part of your career. Sehwag is known for a free mind and expressing his views, regardless of what others think and opine.
Here is the list of Virender Sehwag’s controversies on and off the field that has caused him troubles on some occasions:
The cold war with MS Dhoni that barred him from the Indian team: This ought to be the mother of all controversies in Virender Sehwag’s career during his playing days. There have been instances when both Dhoni and Sehwag were seen teasing each other in the dressing room which sometimes didn’t end up well. The tiff between them caused unrest in the Indian dressing room which was followed by the team’s disastrous run in England and Australia in 2011-2012. Sehwag was also going through a rough patch of his career as he was not among the runs for almost a year. Eventually, he was dropped from the side as the youngsters took over his place. Later, Sehwag revealed that MS Dhoni didn’t want him along with two other players in the team due to their slow fielding. He also alleged that MS didn’t even consult with them before saying it in front of the media. Because of that particular incident, many also criticise Dhoni for literally ending Sehwag’s career.
Controversial tweet that incited communal controversy: Virender Sehwag almost put himself in a controversy as he tweeted on an incident in 2018 when a tribal man was killed in Kerala by a mob. Sehwag gave a communal angle to that incident with his tweet but received criticism by the people which led him to delete that tweet in order to not get in trouble.
Madhu stole 1 kg rice: A mob of Ubaid , Hussain and Abdul Kareem lynched the poor tribal man to death. This is a disgrace to a civilised society and I feel ashamed that this happens and kuch farak nahi padta. pic.twitter.com/LXSnjY6sF0
Banned for excessive appealing against South Africa: This controversy doesn’t only involve Virender Sehwag but three other Indian players Deep Dasgupta, Harbhajan Singh and Shib Sunder Das as they were alleged for excessive appealing against South Africa at Port Elizabeth. Match referee Mike Dennes came down really hard on the Indian players as he handed them suspension for the excessive appealing. But the naive Sehwag was the only one who ended up with the suspension. Indian team still picked Sehwag for the test series against England on which ICC issued a statement saying that any match involving Sehwag would be termed “unofficial” until he serves one ban imposed on him.
Missed his century by 1 run: This on-field controversy involving Virender Sehwag and Suraj Randiv takes us back to the tri-series between Indian, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Apparently, Virender Sehwag was batting on 99* and the Indian team required just one run to win the match. Randiv deliberately bowled a no-ball and Sehwag hammered him for a six. Initially, Sehwag thought that he had earned those six runs as he started celebrating his century and team’s victory. But during the post-match presentation when he was adjudged the Man of the Match, he realised that the no-ball denied him his well-deserved century which he immediately cited signifying the length of the no-ball and subsequently, Randhiv was banned for one match while Tillakaratne Dilshan had to give up his one match’s fees.
Sehwag has also hit the limelight for some of his cheeky yet sarcastic tweets when he has taken a jibe at some of the current and former cricketers.
Virender Sehwag's Social Media
The former batsman is known to be a social media buff and his presence can be felt mostly on Twitter as he leaves no stones unturned in keeping his fans engaged and putting his honest opinions.
Sehwag also keeps his fans engaged on Instagram by posting pictures and giving his fans a glimpse of his daily life. The swashbuckling opener has 5.3 million followers on Instagram, 20.6 million followers on Twitter, and 14 million fans on Facebook.

Sehwag is known to be one of the most money-minded cricketers as he already paved the path of his income even after his retirement. Here is the breakdown of Sehwag’s net worth and income:
Sehwag has opened a school and named it Sehwag International School which is located in Jhajjar, Haryana. The school has A-class facilities for the students who aspire to be a sportsman.
He launched his own sportswear brand named ‘VS’ which is managed by Viru Retail Pvt. Ltd and Stitched Textiles Pvt. Ltd. With the motive of earning over Rs. 22 crores (estimated) per year, Sehwag launched over 50 stores in the country.
Sehwag endorses the following brands: Boost, Samsung Mobiles, Adidas, Reebok, Hero Honda, etc. and he charges a hefty amount from them for the endorsement.
He has his own house in Najafgarh but recently he bought a mansion in the Hauz Khas which is one of the posh areas of New Delhi.
Sehwag also rakes in a handsome amount from the BCCI for his commentary contract. Besides, he was also the head coach of Kings XI Punjab earning him a good amount of money.
Sehwag owns one of the most luxurious cars in the world and some of them include Bentley Continental Flying Spur (Rs.3.41 crores) and a BMW series cars. He is one of those cricketers to show his fascination for the Big toys.
Virender Sehwag is a philanthropist by nature as he donates in various charity foundations and also feeding the migrant labourers.

Sneak Peak
Sneak peek in everyone’s life. How did they feel about the unprecedented pandemic and what have they been up to during the lockdown. Some emotions and feelings we would like to share
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Our husbands’ being soldiers, they do not have the option of Work from Home. When they come back home, they are quarantined in a room. But then this is how we, ladies supported each other and quarantined our families as a community with our own volunteered group efforts.
The families of Raksha Nagar decided NOT to step out for at least 45 days. But luckily, we got used to the system and its been continued successfully for the past 3 months.
Even before the lockdown 1.0 was announced our volunteers for main and sub teams were ready. We divided the families into groups (approximately 30-40 members each) according to the location and one member administrate each group through WhatsApp.
We tied up with an agricultural farm and two vegetable vendors.
We convinced and trained the two grocery shops outside the camp and liaisoned with a FMCG dealer & a medical shop owner.
We have ties with Godrej chicken company of Pune who can deliver our order at Nashik.
We started supporting a cold press oil business started recently.
To simplify the process, we ladies discussed the approximate grocery requirement to be stocked up for 45 days for a 4-member family. And created template lists with 4 options.  And the grocery shop packed them for all after their rush hours. We appointed 4 guys as delivery boys. After They door delivered them through the small electric vehicle available in the camp.
Tumblr media
The choices for vegetables, non veg and other perishables are forwarded by the individuals to the WhatsApp administrator, 2 days in advance and she compiles and forwards to the chief coordinator (me). And I Forward it to the farms and shops. We staggered distribution by groups in different days to avoid cluttering and confusions.
The bill copies are sent on WhatsApp and the amount is compiled as an excel sheet and posted in groups. The families are paying it through digital means and send the screen shot on WhatsApp. End of the day the payment from the families are verified and order closed.
It appeared like a chaotic task in first week. There were raised eyebrows that is it going to work? But once the templates are ready and the system of payment got regularised it became a simple and smoother operation.
In fact with group communication, digital  transaction  and door delivery administration in place, we could actually do wonders. We adapted an orphanage which was in struggle without support. The migrant walkers had food collected from our homes group wise. Women turned entrepreneurs by baking cakes and crafting gifts for birthdays as shops were closed. Few prepare food material for long storage with traditional methods and supply everyone on payment.
We share, care and remain happy and safe as a community with just little more efforts on our day today life. It’s is not tough. It just requires an attitude.
Household chaos, cooking for kids, and I have some social responsibilities here as a military wife. I’m in charge of arranging essentials for 300 families, plus my business.
Literally tongues out…!

As it all happened so suddenly, we happened to work from home. I chose to stay in my village, away from the city chaos in pursuit of peace and calm. I moved away from Chennai, went to my small remote village, where I was born. Here no shops, no cars, no bikes, even no small shops available. Entirely agriculture-based village.
After moving away from Chennai, settling in a small village, and continuing to WFH was a massive challenge for me for one month due to inferior internet quality... Later I managed to get a fiber net connection, which was very surprising for me even to find it here.
Due to COVID 19, My Company, Ford India,  planned a massive purchase pipeline, so I am managing my team sitting from this village...
Significant reasons why I moved away from city life-
1)  No worry about social distancing in my village. A very remote place with limited population
2)  In Chennai, after a few days, we need to depend on supermarkets for groceries and vegetables. Here everything is available in the house for the next year or forever.
3)  I am happy that I am spending more days with my parents after my schooling in my village. I was reminiscing all my childhood memories like sleeping on the terrace under the sky, cooking dinner with fresh homegrown vegetables, taking a walk with my kids in the village roads breathing clean air.
Fortunately, I got an opportunity to relive the life I always missed, and that is so close to my heart.

MY INSPIRATION ABYSS
There she stood - with a beaming and powerful smile on her face - honoring our country with that prestigious tiara!
As I watched a recording of this historical moment, my jaw dropped!
The first-ever Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe (1994); that’s right, the gorgeous Sushmita Sen for you :)
Soon after, Sen adopted not one, but two daughters eventually, and won my (& million others’) respect once again!
And she wouldn’t stop -- a few years later, I joined social media only to learn she is a Yogini. Inspired by her dedication and progress, I took to Yoga in 2018 and became an Internationally Accredited Yoga Instructor and also recognized by the Ayush Ministry, the Government of India.
P.S. I had lost touch with Yoga for a long time, but 2020 and this lady have given me a chance to bounce back and upgrade myself through such beautiful balance poses🙏🏽
You may find more of me and #everydaystories on a yoga-full life at @divyoham_om on Instagram. Because Yoga is for everyone! XOXO

*During the Lockdown*
Well, the lockdown started with numerous things and my effort to inculcate things that I saw on social media. While some people started the so-called 30 Day challenges and posting their workout routines, I was struggling with the basic push-ups. The good part of this is, once you start doing it and do it regularly, you will begin to realize the amount of strength you had in you.
Oh, that new coding language, I was yearning to learn but could never find the time. I finally started and completed the entire learning too. Crazy how a unified and focused effort can bring change in two months. I got into this habit of jotting down things I learned and made sure that I learned at least five new things a day. You will be amazed by the end of the year how to have 2000 new things in your head that you never knew. Good that I started.
This lockdown made me way nearer to myself than I ever was. The path to self-discovery might be different to different people. For me, it was more of accepting myself for who I’m—that feeling of being comfortable in your skin. Sometimes acceptance got me over these body complexes I had, being the skinny guy I’m.
I began to develop habits, specifically, the ones that can be life-changing or something as simple as taking a daily walk in the evening or washing the dishes as soon as you’re done with eating. I began to develop new tastes. Suddenly Jazz felt like never before. I started listening to a lot of Indie music. I came across this band, “That Boy Roby.” The track name was “Lost in Shimla,” and damn, you just can’t help yourself feeling lost in the melody of the guitar. As the name suggests, the track takes you on those untrodden, meandering, mountain tracks of snow-laden Shimla.
Self-discovery took me through a path I had never considered before—the path of getting connected to people you love and care about. I started talking to dad about things we never discussed. I asked him about his memoirs of his old man and how he felt about him, how he felt when mom passed away and what he went through when I was a rebellious teen and started getting into bad habits. He spoke about his youth days and gave me advice about things that I should do in life. Damn, I realized how less I knew about him and how much he loved me.
I went through all my love letters and began pondering about the ups and downs, my wife and I have gone through the last ten years of our relationship. Let me tell you something that I realized, and most men wouldn’t admit. No, not the fact that we are all trash ;) but we put so much effort into winning over someone and return to our own(lazy) selves after we have them in life. Sometimes this awareness is necessary, and it makes you realize that relationships are not a one-time thing, rather a continuous effort to keep things kindled. I learned that sometimes saying “I Love You” in person means much more than writing essays about your never-ending love on social media (funny how we live life and behave everything as if it were a recording to be put in social media and forget about actually living the moment). I began to have more and more of those 2 am conversations. I understood the fact that our lives need not be a long narrative, and it’s best when it’s filled with small random bursts of happiness. To summarize, I started living life again.

I planned to visit my hometown before the lockdown started as I could never have gotten this opportunity to spend so much time with my family and wfh parallelly. I coincidently happened to meet my childhood friends. We were sitting and chatting, and it was appeasing to know how they were contributing to help the small business in Machilipatnam during a difficult time. I immediately joined them in this cause. Five of us found that it was logistically impossible for a  retail business to keep running due to zero movement during the lockdown. It was difficult to generate demand and move stock from one place to another. We created a Facebook business group for a targeted set of audience, mostly local retail businesses. The critical aspect is to have genuine people joining the group for which we allowed only those who had proof of running a retail shop. We added 300 people in the last 15 days. It covered mostly all retail businesses like cement, hotel (food), groceries, professional services, etc. Our place was constantly fluctuating from the RedZone to the orange zone and back to RedZone. The administration was changing rules dynamically. Our Facebook group happened to be one information source for these retailers to know the regulations and amendments announced by the government now and then.
Help is two-folded. it served as a
Channel to provide latest updates on rules and traffic adjustments to the retailers
It is attracting even the customers to the group that would help us to generate demand for the businesses. What was required from the businesses is to publish product rates that have demand.
Once the order is confirmed, we were also helping them to get appropriate permission from the government for the transportations for the goods.
We instantly had 300 businesses registered to this group and saw decent demands coming in too. It is still a small initiative but makes a lot of difference to those small businesses who would die if they do not get some direction during this time. It gives us immense pleasure to become a helping hand to the local businesses that are the strength of our country at this time. Cheers!
